Is it possible to keep same file arrangement after PS edits?

After editing a LR file in PSCS3 (then save & close),  when that file returns to LR it's a psd. file & changes it's place to the end of the catolog along with the original NEF file, & that is the file that's selected. This is annoying as I then have to open the bottom filmstrip panel & move the slider back to the position where the photo I just edited was originally to move on to the next photo (instead of just pressing the right arrow key). This is a waste of time. Is there a way to have the original nef file along with the psd file return to it's original place in the catalog. I'm aware that I can probably rearrange the files afterwards but that doesn't solve the workflow problem.

Let's say there's 161 photos in the catalog. I want to make a lens correction filter adjustment (because I didn't have the camera level & vertical things aren't vertical) in PS  on the first photo. Let's refer to it as Photo 1. Ctrl E opens to PSCS3 where I do the distortion adjustment, then Ctrl S to save & Ctrl W to close. Click on LR & Photo 1 (the photo I just edited is now a psd Photo 161 & the original Photo 1 is now Photo 162. Photo 162 is already selected (since that's the photo I just edited. So now I want to look at Photo 2, so I've gotta open the filmstrip panel & move the slider all the way from the end of the catalog to the beginning of the catalog where Photo 1 use to be. This is the Question. Is there a way to have that original Photo 1 (along with the psd) be in the place where Photo 1 is suppose to be, at the beginning of the catalog & not at the end.

  • Keeping same file name possible in Compressor 4.1.2?

Is keeping the same file name possible in Compressor 4.1.2?

Click twice in the File name field and you can change it. Of course, you need to save it to a different location than the source file.

  • Is it possible to have same file size for different dpi?

I changed one.TIFF file (300dpi, 1024X1332)  to .jpg files of four different dpi. But when I checked the four result jpg files, I found out that they are all in same file size and quality.( I also have checked the property of the files in the Windows.)
I think more DPI means more data and more file size. Am I wrong?
I use Photoshop CS 5.1(64bit, WINDOWS) - which is part of my Adobe Master Collection CS5.5.
    TIFF(300dpi, 1024X1332) ->
    1. JPG(72dpi, 1024X1332) : 306KB
    2. JPG(108dpi, 1024X1332) : 306KB
    3. JPG(144dpi, 1024X1332) : 306KB
    4. JPG(600dpi, 1024X1332) : 306KB
I tested a few times more with different files. and same result comes out.(same file size for different dpi)
    Thanks in advance.

Yes absolutely. Great observation.  PPI does not control the number of pixels, just how big they are.
Now, if you change the PPI in the Image Size dialog with Resample checked.. then, that is a different story. In that case you will be changing the pixel dimension of an image (i.e.,changing the total number of pixels making up the image) while keeping its print size.
In your test files, you will notice all the print sizes are different, because all you were telling Photoshop to do was change the size of the pixels (if or when the image is ever printed), which is really just a bit of metadata of the file.

  • How to keep same file name in File to Mail-Without Ripository Object??

    Hello Experts,
I have a requirement where I need to pick a file and need to send that as an attachment by mail adapter through PI.
I can send the file as attachment but the file name is being changed.
For example, the source file with name "Vendor_2011_11_06" is being transfered but when I am checking the mail box,the file is coming as attachment but the name has been changed to "Untitled.bin".I want the same file name as it was in source SFTP server.
Do any one have any idea that how can we set the file name at receiver mail adapter?
**Note:I have not created any repository objects, simply configured the ID object with dummy Service Interface name.So no mapping exist.

    Hi,
For example, the source file with name "Vendor_2011_11_06" is being transfered but when I am checking the mail box,the file is coming as attachment but the name has been changed to "Untitled.bin".I want the same file name as it was in source SFTP server.
by using MessageTransformBean you can acheive this.
Transform.ContentDisposition------  attachment or inline  For example, attachment;filename=u201Dabc.txtu201D
    Transform.ContentDescription------- Description
Transform.ContentType------Specifies the payload type, for example, text/plain

  • Is it possible to scale Illustrator files inside After Effects and retain the vector quality?

I imported an Illustrator file into my After Effects project and scaled the ai file to 200%, but noticed that is pixelated.  Is there a way to keep the ai file vector based inside After Effects.
Note:  I attempted to use the "Create Shapes from Vector Layer" and the paths all show up, but the fill and stroke colors disappear??
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am using CS6 Creative Cloud on a Windows 8 with 16 gig of ram
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Dave is right. See this:

  • Adobe Flash Player Auto Install downloads same file repeatedly after successful installation.

Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X 11.5.502.135 was successfully installed and working in browser.  Auto download continued to download and install same version repeatedly, at least every hour.  Uninstall and re-install does not fix the problem.  The previous version, 11.5.502.110 did the same thing.
PC with Windows 7 64bit.  Browser:  IE 9.0.12,   32 bit.  Have temporarily uninstalled Flash Player to stop the auto downloads.

I had the file in both locations, they looked identical.... here's the one from \SysWOW64\\\

  • DW CS4 keeps duplicating recordset code after opening/editing a recordset

    Hi all,
I'm wasting lots of time editing and re-editing recordsets in DW CS4 using the PHP server model.
After opening a recordset an making changes, DW will break the recordset code duplicating it.
This appen even if I open and suddendly close the recordset without making any changes.
    This is a critical bug.
    Is there a fix/update/workaround?
At this time the solution is to delete the recordset in the code view (paying attention to not delete something useful) and to re-create it by scratch.
This is not a sample to feature the screamed adobe productivity applications.
Any suggestion will be really appreciated.
    TIA
    tony

This forum is for Extension Authoring, so you'll probably get a better response from the DW Application Development forum.
Try uninstalling all of your extensions to see if that fixes the problem. If so, then just install extensions 1 at a time as you need them to help isolate the problem. Next, I'd try deleting your entire User Configuration folder. Otherwise, uninstalling and reinstalling DW may be the only way to fix it.
    HTH,
    Randy

  • How can I keep the file/ album names when copying music from the Finder to iTunes?

    Hi,
Is there a possibility to keep the file names one uses in the Finder when adding music to iTunes?
[e.g. that a Beethoven symphony still ends up under 'Beethoven/ symphony No./' and not under the name of the orchestra/ dirigent]
    Thanks in advance
    Kath

Yes.  Go into Preferences and make sure that "Keep..." and '"Copy..." are both not checked.  Then put the file(s) where you want them (preferably somewhere in your iTunes Media folder) and use the command File > Add File (or Folder) to Library.
Try this first with a file or two so you can see that it keeps the same file name as it adds to your library.

  • Keeping RAW files

I shoot in nothing but RAW. When I move my RAW file from the flash card to the hard disk I create a folder named RAW. I also create a DNG folder for the future conversion of my RAW files. I have been doing this for years. Originally because I started using DNG files shortly after Adobe created the format and I was not comfortable yet with its stability and viability. I now have duplicated folders using double the space. After many years of doing this, I have multiple terabytes of duplicated file space. I do all my editing in the DNG files.
    1. Does anybody else keep duplicated RAW and DNG files, and why
    2. Is there and advantage to keeping both RAW and DNG files.
I look forward to your replies

    James Palik wrote:
My original reason for converting to DNG is I did not like having to keep two files to preserve my edits, especially since I had an original problem with my XMP files getting corrupted.
    Technical background info:
Once upon a time, Lightroom used a slightly different code for creating the xmp info which got written to DNG versus that which was written to a sidecar file:
In the former case, many things were attributes of (xml) elements, in the latter case, those things were individual elements.
In Lr5 (I think it was 5, maybe 4), Adobe optimized xmp handling to use more of the same code in each case (I "know" this based on the data and format becoming essentially equal in each case - it's the only likely conclusion..). For you ultra-curious types: xmp sidecars became more like the embedded xmp in the interest of more compact storage (and maybe other things I'm not aware of).
There is a difference in how they're written to destination file, but in general writing to sidecar is slightly safer than embedding in source file. I suppose it's possible that the code for writing the xmp sidecars had a bug in it, but I have seen very few such complaints, if any, and have never experienced it myself. It's possible that the corrupt xmp sidecar you experienced actually saved you from having a corrupt source file (since hardware and/or code errors which occur when updating embedded xmp can render the source file unreadable, whereas proprietary raw files are never written to and therefore can not be corrupted when xmp is written).
Bottom line: even though this may seem contrary to your personal experience, odds are you are slightly safer from corruption with xmp as sidecar to proprietary raw than embedded in DNG.
Don't get me wrong: I am not anti-DNG (on the contrary, I am pro DNG, even though I don't normally convert my raw files to DNG, yet), and if you prefer not having sidecar files, whether due to practical reasons or superstition (er, I mean "esoteric reasons") - that's fine with me..
As DdeGannes and others have noted, you don't have to use xmp at all to preserve edits (if you are diligent about backing up your catalog), but there is something to be said for having both suspenders and belt when you really want your pants to stay up..
PS - have you considered keeping your proprietary raws in a different location than your DNGs (or otherwise exclude from your more frequent backup procedure), so they are not being repeatedly backed up?
Bonus info: why don't I convert my raws to DNG?:
    * I don't like having 2 copies of the same raw file to store and manage (i.e. it avoids the "proliferation problem" you are currently facing..).
    * I want my raws to be readable in whatever software I choose, even if not written by Adobe.
    * I prefer my raws to stay virginal, and have my xmp in separate files (for a myriad of "more-or-less esoteric" reasons..).
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • How to keep Same Windows Font on Linux !!!!!

    Hi,
I am migrating Oracle 6i Windows reports to Oracle 11g Linux reports. When I open reports in 11g, It changes the font name and it size.
Is there any possibility to keep same font name and size in 11g Linux?
    Regards,
    Yousuf

I see what you're saying, finder is hardly an application that is like any other application you may use on your computer, however, it is an application and doesn't need to be running for your computer to work.
Just one less thing that can cause your whole computer to crash if it should fail, unlike some other OS's out there
In either case, this should be the fix for your problem.
You could attempt to file feedback with apple for them to consider changing this, since reopening finder is not like reopening other apps since you never really quit finder natively, you relaunch it.
However I'm glad I could shed light on how to get what you wanted back the way you wanted it.

  • Help ! Can't replace file in file folder with same file from mail

After migrating from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, everytime I want to save attachment file from mail to file folder that has same file name, after clicking "Replace", the attachment file doesn't replace the old one.
This problem didn't exist, after migrating from Lion to Mountain Lion.
What should I do to fix it ?
    Thanks.

The best thing to do is to move the search and replace functionality to before the string coming out of the file is changed into an array. Do it there and all you need is 2 instances of the Search and Replace String function. One replaces all the "/" with "-" and one changes all the "." to ",".

  • Boot Camp keeps crashing after i edited the info.plist

When I downloaded a Windows Home premium 64x iso file and it said it was 64 bit and it was, I was googling on how to fix it and I came across a topic that said to edit the info.plist file. After I edited the info.plist it stopped working and crashed every time I tried to run Bootcamp. SOMEONE HELP PLS!

Can you try to put back the original/unmodified info.plist file
which info.plist file is it ?

  • Is there any way i can keep pages documents and numbers documents in the same file?

Im trying to group pages and numbers documents in the same file is this possible?

Not on the iPad itself, no. iOS apps keep their documents within each app itself. You would need to save the documents to a WebDAV server. Dropbox can serve this function if partnered with DropDAV. See:

I am using a Photoshop cs2, and I wonder if it is possible to keep the settings of the guidelines when closing an image, with the actual document ? It would be nice to have the guidelines locked down, I find it than when opening the same or another image, the guidelines are not locked, it is annoying to have to lock them down again. and it would actually be nice, to ba able to give specific directions when placing the guidelines. Thanks

Then why are the guides unlocked when I reopen a document that I saved with the guides locked ?
    Thanks.

  • I can not transfer date from one hard drive to another, I keep getting an error because I have two of the same file names and one file name is in caps and I cant change the file name

can not transfer date from one hard drive to another, I keep getting an error because I have two of the same file names and one file name is in caps and I cant change the file name. My original external has an error and needs to be reformatted but I dont want to lose this informations its my entire Itunes library.

Sounds like the source drive is formatted as case sensitive and the destination drive is not. The preferred format for OS X is case insensitive unless there is a compelling reason to go case sensitive.
Why can't you change the filename? Is it because the source drive is having problems?  If so is this happening with only one or two or a few files? If so the best thing would be to copy those over individually and then rename them on the destination drive.
If it is more then you can do manually and you can't change the name on the source you will have to reformat the destination as case sensitive.
Btw this group is for discussion of the Support Communities itself, you;d do better posting to Lion group. I'll see if a host will move it.
