Is it possible to layer the audio?

I am wanting to put music behind a voice over that I'm using on one of my slide shows and am wondering if that is even possible. I know I can do just music or just a voice over, but I'd like to do both. Is this possible?

You can lay multiple audio tracks in the same audio row. I usually put the music on one audio row, then add sound effects and voice over to the second row. The audio can be placed on top of each other with the only problem is keeping it organized. It is also good to lock the audio to the clip above it. Any change to the video can shift the audio to other locations if you don't lock the audio.

  • Is it possible to do the audio capture and playback simultaneously?

    In short :
    Is it possible to do the audio capture and playback simultaneously? . If it is not supported directly by Sun, pl suggest another way to achieve the same.
    In detail:
    I am doing a voice chat application by using the streaming through UDP . I am able to play the byte stream. But , is it possible to capture sound simultaneously (while playing the audio) to send to the other end?

    If you're Airplaying from you computer, you might be able to do this. Here's what I would try:
    Go to the Airplay icon in iTunes. You should see both your Apple TV and your speakers listed as options. Select "Multiple speakers." You'll see both devices together. Turn the volume all the way down on the Apple TV. You should be getting the video on the TV, but only hear audio through the speakers.
    Using the "Multiple Speakers" option will sync the output of your devices so that the sound matches the picture.
    I haven't tried this myself, but I'm thinking this would work. However, this approach will only work when using Airplay from your computer – not from am iPad or iPhone – as they don’t have the "Multiple Speakers" option (as far as I know). It also won't work with content streamed directly to your ATV, obviously, because there's no way to stream from ATV to other devices.
    Let me know if this works.

  • Is it possible to record the audio portion of a dvd movie onto an Shuffle?

    The reason I ask is, I have some stand-up comedy dvds that are around an hour each and I wanted to know if I could upload just the audio onto my shuffle?

    I am not sure what it is you are asking:
    Are your songs rendered audio files, and you want to unmix the audio to extract the separate channels?
    Or do you have two songs as GarageBand projects and now want to mix tracks from the  separate projects?
    Option number 1 is not possible in GB, and neither in iMovie, but option2, yes; But it requires a bit of work: (assuming both songs have the same key and tempo)
    Export a song containing the audio from the first song (silence the other tracks that you do not want).
    Make a copy of the second project with the instrumentals you want to use.
    Open this copy and delete/or silence the tracks you do not want.
    Import the audio exported from the first song to a real instrument track.
    Cut the songs in regions and arrange and mix  the track as you like. Then export.

  • Is it possible to delete the audio of a captured clip permanently?

    I know you can drag clips to the timeline without audio, or delete the audio from the timeline.
    What I'm asking is: say you captured a bunch of clips with audio tracks that you didn't want, because you forgot to uncheck the audio box.
    Is there some way you can delete the audio from the captured clips, without re-capturing everything? I'd like to have them sitting in my browser, without any associated audio.
    I know you can change whether audio is present in a logged (but uncaptured clip) using clip settings, but that only works before the clip is captured.

    Just think about this for a minute before you launch
    yourself off into this realm. The audio doesn't
    really take that much space. DV video runs at 3.6
    MB/sec 48khz audio runs at 192kB/s. The audio takes
    up nothing.
    You're right - it's not worth the effort. It's just a minor annoyance. It would be easier to just recapture all the clips.

  • Is it possible to import new slides and keep the audio?

    Hi,
    is it possible to import new slides and keep the audio?
    The designers have changed the housestyle of the powerpoints,
    but the audio has been recorded in captivate in the meanwhile. Is
    it possible to keep the audio of the files and replace all the old
    powerpoint slides with new ones? (not one by one by hand off but
    all in one button press ?)
    Thanks,
    wouter
    My
    Elearning company.

    Hi again Wouter
    Are you saying that your Library has lots of other audio that
    isn't really used on a slide? If so, try right-clicking the Library
    panel and choosing "Select Unused Items". This should highlight all
    the sound files not in use. Now press the Delete key and they
    should be removed from the Library view.
    Now you are faced with just what is left. You may not know
    which clip goes with which slide. So try this. In your Film strip,
    audio attached to the slide should appear as a Speaker icon in the
    corner. Click the Speaker icon and pop down (or up) menu should
    display. Choose "Find in Library". This should highlight the
    associated clip in the Library. Now, if you like, you may
    right-click the file in the Library and rename that to something
    like "Slide X audio" (so you know which clip goes with which
    slide).
    Cheers... Rick

  • Is it possible to get the current output level??

    Is it possible to get the audio output level of a stream (in this case a mic input going through GSM compression to an RTP socket).
    I would like a couple of volume bars in my application so people can see how loudly they are talking.
    If anyone has any ideas on how to achieve this it would be much appreciated!

  • VoIP Phone Call from mobile to PC - Streaming the audio and playing it back

    In short:
    How can I stream the audio captured from a mobile to PC and play it back.
    In brief:
    I am trying to develope an application to chat(voice) between a J2ME program and a Java program which is running in a PC.
    Currently I am able to send and receive the text message by using SIP protocol after establishing session by using SIP protocol.
    As a next step, I want to capture the audio and play back in PC and Mobile.
    Now, I am able to capture audio from the microphone of the mobile.
    Player p =Manager.createPlayer("capture://audio?rate=8000&bits=8&Channels=1");
                    p.realize();
                    // get the RecordControl over this Player
                    RecordControl rc = (RecordControl)p.getControl("RecordControl");
                    // create an OutputStream which the RecordControl will use
                    // to write write the recorded data.
                    ByteArrayOutputStream output = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                    rc.setRecordStream(output);
                    // start the recording
                    rc.startRecord();
                    p.start();How can I stream it to PC and play it back? Also, I need to send audio captured from PC to mobile and have to play it back.
    Pl. do reply.

    now I am able to play the stream (with some delay),
    while(inputStream.read(buf)!=-1) {
                        try {
                            ByteArrayInputStream recordedInputStream = new ByteArrayInputStream(buf);
                            play2 = Manager.createPlayer(recordedInputStream, "audio/x-wav");
                            System.out.println("Playback player created...");
                            play2.prefetch();
                            System.out.println("Playback player prefetched...");
                            play2.realize();
                            System.out.println("Playback player realized...");
                            play2.start();
                            System.out.println("Playback player started...");
                        } catch (MediaException ex) {
                            ex.printStackTrace();
                        } catch(Exception e) {
                            e.printStackTrace();
                        }But, the problem is , I have to play the audio, as well as capture the audio to create the duplex communication.
    Is it possible to do the audio capture and playback simultaneously? If it is not possible, pl suggest an idea to achieve this.

  • In GB, I need to insert an audio track. When I try, it obliterates part of the adjacent bridge (track). How can I insert an audio track in an audio timeline without stepping all over clean material? Is it possible to recover the "clean" track bridge?

    Am doing an audio timeline in GB. Need to insert a corrected section of track. When I try the insert, it knocks out the top part of the adjacent track bridge/element. How can I insert cleanly in a timeline? Is it possible to "recover" the good track that was "stepped on?"

    Undo what?
    Insert in a new track?
    I don't think so. I've started an audio book and I'm doing chapter long segments (assuming I can make simple corrections, such as ones made in iMovie and numerous other video editing programs. Routine edits in GB are simple and intuitive. I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that I'm prevented from doing a simple drag and drop, import or paste a two-sentence audio clip. Nor can I find any reference to straightforward audio elements.
    Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

  • Improve the audio comments quality in Acrobat X ? is that possible ?

    Hi,
    I work with large PDF documents in several languages and I need to add audio comments a lot. However, when I record them using the Audio Comment feature of Adobe Acrobat, I get extremely low files in size, and extremely bad quality in the recording.
    My microphone is fantastic, and works nice with every computer application, so I am not having problems with the microphone or that stuff, it is clear that Adobe Acrobat is recording my voice to the lowest level of possible quality, and I want to change that. Even if my documents are a bit heavier, I would like to record my voice with better quality.
    So the killer question is: How may I do this?
    Thanks

    There is no user control over the recording format for sound annotations.

  • Is it possible to preserve the layer name when I copy and paste from Illustrator into Photoshop?

    Is it possible to preserve the layer name when I copy and paste from Illustrator into Photoshop?
    At the moment it just appears as "Vector Smart Object" in Photoshop and I have to take another step and change the layer name.
    Thank you!

    Not that I know. PS doesn't care for these kinds of things and uses its own naming system.

  • Is it Possible to stream video off of my macbook pro to my apple tv2 but stream the audio to my airport express?

    I know you can play music over multiple speakers but is it possible to play video on an apple tv and the audio that goes with that video on an airport express  at the same time? It would be nice to have some better sound then my tv speakers while watching movies.

    i haven't used Airfoil (or Airfoil Video Player for that matter) to stream movies but it ought to work with TV - at least that's what the developers claim. and you are able to select multiple remote speakers so the audio can be sent to TV and AX simultaneously (mute TV to have sound via AX only).
    the only problem is content from the iTS:
    Because it is impossible to control playback of DRMed iTunes Store videos, they can't be played with Airfoil Video Player
    anyways, there is a (albeit limited) trial version available so it won't hurt giving the app a go.

  • Is it possible to increase the nested layer group limit on Photoshop CS4

    Hi all,
    Does anyone know if it is possible to increase the limit on nested layer groups in Photoshop CS4. To do a test, I made a group with a blank layer inside, then duplicated this group several times and nested them within each other. Once I have nested groups (5 deep) I can't nest any more.
    This is quite frustrating as I'm sure I could cope with a just two or three more levels of depth.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply.
    That's rather annoying. I guess I will have to live with it for now. :-(

    Is it possible to record parts of a phone call on Skype into Logic, then play back the audio while still on the Skype call?  I'm a voice teacher coaching students in other cities, and Skype can't offer any suggestions.

    Hi
    What I'm saying is:
    Make a new MONO audio track (use the + button). Assign it to input 1
    Make a second new MONO track, assign it to input 2
    Name both tracks, record-enable both tracks, and record.
    You could, of course, make both tracks in one go via the new track dialog box, and hav ethem automatically assigned to ascending inputs.
