Is it possible to link songs in itunes?

I'd like to be able to link certain songs together, as often heard on the radio for tunes like Train, Train, by Blackfoot; or Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are the Champions.

Perhaps creating a static playlist would take care of that.

If you are referring to the iTunes Store, then no, because all songs they sell are in AAC format.  You can buy MP3s from other online stores, such as Amazon MP3.

Plug the device into the computer (windows based).
The computer should detect the device as an external drive.
Copy the files from the computer to the device.
Alternatively, Doubletwist is an application that will "sync" from the computer to the device, but personally I found it to be slow and unintuitive.

  • Linking songs in itunes to be played one after another, even in shuffle

Hey guys I've been looking around for an answer to this question and still no luck. I dont think its possible but Ill ask anyway. Im trying to link songs togther so that they will always be played one after the other even during shuffle mode. For example, some songs are always meant to played one after the other, such as "We Will Rock You>We Are the Champions" by Queen, or "Golden Slumbers>Carry That Weight>The End" by The Beatles. Anyone know if this is possible somehow? I can make them play gaplessly but that only does anything if shuffle is off.

The answer is to *Join CD Tracks* before you import them into your library.
When you insert a CD into your disc drive and it shows up in iTunes (for importing) highlight the tracks (which need to be adjacent of course) and select *Advanced/Join CD Tracks.* You can join all three Beatles tracks. Once they are joined, then you can import them into the library. So you will have to import these tracks again (and remove the originals, if you wish).
Note that you cannot join them after importation.

  • Not Possible to Purchase Songs without iTunes Application, right?

    Hi, Everyone,
I was just wondering if it were at all possible to purchase songs via an Internet browser, and then download them at a later time using the iTunes application.
I currently do not have my own Internet connection as I am out of town for a couple weeks, but would like to get new music. The only places I can find in this town that has Internet connection are some small cafes with free wireless Internet. However, the connections are problematic; in this case, it takes a long time (between 15 and 20 minutes) to search for one song, add it to the Shopping Cart, then buy it successfully. However, I can download songs very quickly. I am currently on a wired connection (not my laptop), and this connection is fine, so I was hoping I could purchase songs and then just download them using my laptop on a wireless connection.
    Thank you,
    Victor Ly

why would you want to risk your account info on a connection at a cafe somewhere on the street? and why would you wanna buy the songs now and download them later? ....... the songs are always there, they are not going anywhere. you can still buy and download them when you think the conenction is safe and fast.... also, you can not buy songs from IE and download them from itunes, you have to buy them from itunes in order to download them in itunes ............ you can still buy songs many places on the internet from IE, but you can not download them in itunes .... they are seperate.
you can import songs into itunes tho ... if you already have them on your computer, yes you can use the add files to library in itunes.

  • Is it possible to IMPORT songs to iTunes all at once?

Obviously, one can add their whole music library to the iTunes library all at once, but even if you bought this music, if you did not IMPORT it using iTunes, it isn't registered as being owned by you. So, as a result, any music that you have added to your library without importing it is foreign to iTunes. It will not let you get cd track names, for example, without importing it using iTunes. This makes things very inconvenient, because apparently the only way that you can tell iTunes that you own music is by importing tracks one at a time. Having even dozens of songs, that is an extraordinary hassle. I personally have 60 GB of music, and could never hope to import files one at a time. If anybody knows of any ways of importing files to iTunes either all at once or in large chunks, please contribute to this thread. Additionally, if you share the same frustration as me, please add to the thread so I know I'm not the only one who is frustrated by this technicality.

If you're using iTunes 7, you can copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly. You will have to prevent automatic synchronization. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

  • Is it possible to reference songs in iTunes?

I'm wondering if it is somehow possible (and if so advisable, or not) to reference certain songs in my iTunes Library.  I'm a Aperture user, and it has a wonderful feature that allows you to keep certain images "managed" in the Aperture Library and others "referenced" in another location of your choice.  I keep most of my images referenced on an external hard drive to keep the size of my Library on the internal drive down.  The only images I keep managed are the ones I need to view while I'm away from home (and thus the external drive).
In iTunes, I want certain songs on my internal drive to be able to travel with, and other songs that I don't listen to as much still available as referenced songs that could be pulled from an external drive when available.  I don't want to delete the songs and their data, but don't listen to them enough to warrant the space they'd take up on my internal drive.
If this isn't possible, is there another solution to achieve what I am looking to do?  I guess I could create a separate Library and store that Library on an external drive, but is there a way to migrate those (and only those) songs to that Library?  If so, would I lose the data I've associated with them, as well as play counts, etc..?
    Mac

    Limnos,
I don't really want to make things messy, so I'll probably just leave things as they are and maybe delete some tracks after first archiving them.
Before posting this, I had tried something and something odd happened.  I was wondering if you had any ideas on it.  This is what I did:  I went to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced and changed the iTunes Media Folder location.  I changed it to a destination on one of my external drives.  Upon doing this, it brought me to the iTunes Music Folder in the iTunes Folder.  It gave me the option to "Cancel" or "Open".  Since it didn't seem like I wanted to change the location to that spot, I chose a different place (again, the destination on my external drive).  After doing that, I clicked "Open".  A new folder was created in that new spot, but nothing was moved there.  I fugured that maybe this was the location where anything and everything new would go to be stored.  This wasn't what I was looking to do, so I went back and clicked "Reset" in the Advanced pane.  Upon doing this, a small window popped up and it looked like things were quickly be copied or moved.  I couldn't really tell what was happening because it was doing it too quickly.
In any case, the bottom line is, after this was complete, I noticed that I had freed up 30GB of space on my internal HDD.  I don't think I lost anything, as I have been scrutinizing my music collection, but the whole event (and result) seem very odd to me.
The other important bit of information here is that before doing this, I did delete my Podcasts, my Movies, and everything in my iTunes U.  When I had done this originally, I noticed that I gained free space on my HDD (which was my goal).  I'm not sure if by doing what I did with the Library afterwards had something to do with freeing up even more space.  Perhaps it is possible that info regarding those files was somehow still stored in my iTunes Library even though the media folders had been removed?
Do you have any ideas on what could have happened?

  • Is it possible to recover songs from ITunes account?

My old computer was stolen, along with lots of iTunes songs I had purchased. I now have a new computer and was told that I could get all the songs I've purchased restored...how do I do that?

You should always have a backup for this very reason and many others.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:
    File>Transfer Purchases
You only get one download. From the itunes store terms of service:
"PRODUCTS CAN ONLY BE DOWNLOADED ONCE; AFTER BEING DOWNLOADED, THEY CANNOT BE REPLACED IF LOST FOR ANY REASON. YOU SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BACKING UP YOUR OWN SYSTEM"
You can ask for a re-download, but they are not obliged to do this.

  • Is it possible to move songs from iTunes to garageband in garageband 2?

just a simple question...i was just wondering if you can transfer (import) songs from your iTunes library lists to garageband. If anyone knows the anser, i would also like to know how to do it, or if you can tell me where i can find the tutorial. Thanks1

Like your other post, ksoileau, you're dead on, however there are two exceptions. If the song was purchased from the iTunes Music store, they are copy protected and can not be imported. Also some people have had Mp3s that won't import (I've never run into one of these myself, so I can only guess that they are not sampled at the right rate or depth). If this is the case then the solution is documented in the GB FAW:
    http://www.thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#convertmp3s
(BTW, ksoileau, nice to see someone new with clear and concise answers!) --HT

  • Is it possible to transfer songs from iTunes into anotther program?

My friends wants some songs from my iTunes library and copy them to his Zune program, but when we tried, the songs had a lock on them. Both programs are on the same computer and the computer is authorized to play the songs..any suggestion on what to do?

If these are tracks purchased from the iTunes Store, they cannot be played on a Zune, just as Zune tracks cannot be played in iTunes or on an iPod.

  • Is it possible to transfer songs in iTunes to Mediaplayer 10...it's just

.....it's just that my daughter has a Creative Zen Sleek and it has it's own Creative Media Source for the "playlist/library" to store these songs. I have tried to transfer the iTunes "playlist" to the c:drive but when I open the "creative software" and try to import the file the iTunes file does not show up.
I need ANY help I can get with this I have been at this since yesterday afternoon with updating the computer to Windows XP Pro and all the nice little glitches that come with it and I am just absolutely at my wits-end with this.
Also I do have the MediaPlayer 10 also available, but I have also been having the same problem.
Please help a VERY FRAZZLED MOM !!!

bear with me...I'm trying to get used to the terminology, I have read somewhere about converting songs to "AAC" would this be helpful at all?
It's just that I have never had to burn a CD and I really don't want to have to learn and figure out something else.
I am already so frustrated with this whole thing. My daughter still has another $10. worth of itune music money in her account and to think after downloading all this (on dial-up) mind you..I would still need to learn how to transfer these to a CD. Which I THINK we have the software to do this on this computer...and then to trasnfer it to her Zen !! uuuuugggghhhhh!

  • Is it possible to edit songs in iTunes?

Is there a way to shorten music to eliminate the speaking portion (eg spoken intro) in songs without using garageband?
    Thank you.

What you need to do is :
    1. Amend the Start time (see above)
    2. Go into iTunes Preferences and in General > Import Settings > Check Settings..., make sure the setting is the same as the track in question. Change it if necessary (you don't want a compressed copy).
    3. Go back to your Library and highlight the track.
    -   In Advanced, click 'Create XXX Version' (where XXX is your Import setting)
    -   wait until iTunes has created a new version of the track which will now start at the new time (i.e. the intro will be DELETED)
    4. Delete the original if you want. Highlight it and click Command-backspace.

  • Linking songs in iTunes

I have a set of songs that should be played sequentially. I looked in the advanced menu tab, and it had a choice for Join CD Tracks. This sounds like it would do what i wanted to do it do , but I can't get it to work. I went to the help and, as usual, i couldn't find anything useful. Any tips or hints would be nice.
    Thanks,
    MD

Do you want to play consecutive tracks without gaps or at least 'tell' iTunes that some songs belong together and should be played gapless?
I'm not sure what you exactly want to do.
iTunes doesn't support gapless playback, so you must find other ways.
Join CD tracks can only be used on importing a CD. That won't help in your situation.
    To play songs consecutive:
Use 'Get Info' to apply the correct track numbers to the songs or put them in a playlist and drag them in the correct order (sort on the leftmost column first)
To play songs nearly gapless, check 'Crossfade Playback' in Preferences>Playback and set it to 0 (zero) seconds.
To play gapless, you must join the tracks using another application or script:
    • Use an audio editor: Audacity (freeware), Amadeus II, Sound Studio.
    • Use a script to join MP3s or AAC: Join Together
    • Use an application dedicated to join tracks: look at versiontracker.com

  • Removing songs from itunes without removing them from ipod

Is it possible to remove songs from iTunes without removing them from iPod? When I attempt to delete songs from iTunes I get a warning that they'll be deleted from iPod as well. I've got Manually manage music and videos checked under Options in the Summary window.

You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See these about backing up media.
How to back up your media in iTunes.
    Buegie's complete back up strategy.
To move music from iPod to computer, check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

  • Playing songs in iTunes

Does anyone know if its possible to play songs in iTunes and not have it scroll back up to the next song. For instance, if I am playing a song at the top of my library and have scrolled down to the bottom of my library is it possible for it to go to the next song without it flashing all the way back up to the orginal song. Hopefully my question makes sense.
    Thanks
    James

Set Party shuffle to play from "Music" and right click on a song and select Play Next in Party Shuffle. The songs will play in party Shuffle leaving you free to browse your main Library.
