Is it possible to load a project (or boot Logic) without initialising AUs ?
sometimes I know a plug-in is causing Logic to crash when I load a project
also, sometimes I just want to open a project quickly, so I can, say, merely copy a region into my current project, and I'd like to be able to do that without waiting for a million sample libraries etc + several 3rd party plugs to get their act together, unnecessarily
As ever, I really have tried to find this out for myself before posting here, so forgive me if I've missed another thread on this subject!
Cheers!
If you press Ctrl + Shift when starting Logic, plugins that have not passed the validation test will be disabled. There´s also a similar command whereby you can start Logic without the audio engine loaded (if my memory serves me correctly). I´m sure some one out there can provide the exact key combination...

Loading Silverlight Project Terminates Application
I have an ASP.net web application project which references a Silverlight [4] Silverlight Application. If, in the web application, I add a reference to the Silverlight application in the Project Properties -> Silverlight Applications dialog, the
application will terminate at the end of the page lifecycle. I can verify this by placing a breakpoint in the Session_End and Application_End events in the global .asax. The application appears to function properly after this point, but the loss
of the session variables on this initial page load is causing problems and this can't be considered normal operation.
If I remove the reference to the Silverlight Application in the Project Properties dialog of the web application, it no longer terminates prematurely, and it works properly, but breakpoints in the Silverlight Application are no longer accessible. Sometimes
I can remove/re-add the Silverlight application reference in the web application, and it will function fine for awhile, then it will begin to terminate again and I have to repeat the process.
I have reviewed the system logs and it doesn't look like an App Pool recycle is occurring, so I have no idea what is causing the application to fail prematurely.I have a question about loading Microsoft Project on Java Application server. There is no such product called "Java Application server" This could describe any J2EE or J2SE client-server application. No you cannot load Microsoft Project onto a Java Application server. But you can install MS project onto the same machine.
We have IIS on the Web server and Java Application Server Software on our web server . I assume your web server is also your application server.
Is it possible to load MS project software on the same server .Why don't you install it on your PC or workstation.
I am not sure . We also have windows 2000 server . You could also install MS Project on that machine.
Why don't you install it on the box which you intend to use it on. -

Is it possible to load saved audiofiles into a new multitrack project?
Hi
Is it possible to load pre-saved audiofiles (from previous version of a multitrack project) into a new multitrack project which includes the exact-same clips used for the pre-saved audiofiles?
I'm tempted to experiment but am afraid of adversely affecting my pre-saved audiofiles. Any tips would be really appreciated.
Warm regards
PeterHi Jim
Well, since as things stand I can't get 'conform' to work (but hopefully it will once I install Snow Leopard and the new FCS3) I'm trying to come up with a 'workaround' to my problem.
Say, I have my multitrack project which had been sent from Final Cut 6.
Nightmare of nightmares, I realise that I need to change some aspects of my picture edit.
Conform doesn't work for me in STP2. So, as a workaround, instead I ensure that all of my audiofiles are saved (your 'save as...and collect media' suggestion).
I make some changes to my picture edit to make the video shorter.
I now need to resend my changed-picture-edit FCP6 sequence to STP2 afresh as a new multitrack project.
Now in STP2 I will be looking at my new multitrack project, which matches my updated FCP6-changed sequence.
Ahhh, as I write this I think I'm figuring it out...
My idea is to open the previously saved 'longer' multitrack edit in addition to my current 'newer' multitrack project, and then manually copy over the matching-duration 'pre-saved' audiofiles (that already have effects applied such as reduce noise) into my new multitrack project.
In other words, I will replace the exact-same clips in the new multitrack project with the clips from the old multitrack project which have effects applied on them.
I think I may have answered my own question :o) Does this sound feasible do you think?
Hopefully this will only be a stopgap workaround until I do a fresh install of Snow Leopard and FCS3, when hopefully the Conform feature of STP will be error-free for me.

Unable To Load Specific Project
Dear all,
I seriously need help here. I've been working on a project for a few weeks and just a day ago while i was halfway working on it, iMovie'09 exited unexpectedly. When i relaunch, i've been having problem loading this specific project. It kept having the spinning icon on the preview window and stays that way forever.
I have no problem loading other projects. What could've happened?? I can't afford to redo the entire project as it is a real pain to do so! I could remember the last thing i did before iMovie'09 exited was copying & pasting some text from the web to that project i was working on. And suddenly this happened.
I've tried reinstalling iMovie, deleting project folder, disabling fonts, etc but to no success.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you.Has anyone had any luck repairing, rebuilding or recovering a damaged project? I think I'm suffering the same thing. In my case, the project loads into the project window so I can see the clips, transitions and such, but it will not play. So close, and yet so far.
I've been searching this forum for answers. There are a lot of reports of projects that suddenly "die" but it seems that every thread ends with a question mark and no solution.
If there's no way to fix a broken project, this is a very serious flaw that everyone should consider before devoting days of effort to an iMovie project. Of course backups will save some effort but let's face it, most programs don't routinely produce damaged files. This needs to be fixed or users need to warned up front of the possibility of losing hours of work. -
What does "Error 10" mean? "An error occurred while loading your project. 10"
Does anyone know what "Error 10" means? For the first time, I'm getting a message that says, "An error occurred while loading your project. 10". I'm getting this message when I try to open a project that I created yesterday.
I'm using Adobe Premiere 6 on a Windows 7 machine. I have over 20 gigs of open space on the drive with all the project and support files. And this machine with 2 gigs of RAM never has a problem opening other similar Premeire project files with even more still images plugged in.
All of my Premiere project files have always opened with no problem. A similar file that this project file was created from with all the same base elements still opens with no problem.
This file almost finishes the "Loading Project - checking files..." process, but then I get the error message.
I had also saved a duplicate backup file for the project in question and it will not open either, so I believe that rules out a corrupt file... it is only this one project that I created yesterday that will not open. This project file is only about 5.7 megabytes in size.
This file has many still images plugged in to it, but all the same images are plugged in to another base file that still opens correctly.
I've also tried closing all other apps to save memory but I still get the error. I've also tried opening this problem file from within the application and I still get the same error message.
I read some troubleshooting information on the Adobe website about files that give error messages that will not open and it recommended adjusting the size of the virtual memory paging file in the system settings to twice the amount of RAM that is installed instead of being on the automatic setting, so I followed the instruction verbatim and restarted my machine and I still get the error message.
I've also read other troubleshooting info on the Adobe site that recommends to "delete the application preferences file" and "recreate the plugin cache file", but I'm not sure if "Error 10" indicates that those things are the correct procedures to use.
I could re-create this project file, but it has many tricky cutting and motion setting edits that will be difficult to reproduce and it took me a full day to create this project file.
Also, yesterday before initially closing this file, I was able to successfully render a test version to an AVI file and that video file plays fine, but neither the original project file nor the duplicate will open... I'm always getting the "An error occurred while loading your project. 10" after the file almost finishes the "Loading Project - checking files..." process... it almost finishes opening but then I get the error message.
Thanks for any input on this problem. You can see the error message screenshot below.
digiThanks Bill... me too.
After writing to Dennis Radeke on an Adobe.com blog about this and getting his very limited response, I wrote to him quoting something I read on the wiki page that you sent me the link to...
Adobe blog:
http://http://blogs.adobe.com/genesisproject/2009/11/having_weird_behavior_with_an.html#co mment-2701
Wiki page link that you gave me:
http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ:How_do_I_recover_a_corrupt_project%3F
Here's what my response today was...
Thanks for your reply DR.
My old version of Premiere 6 works perfectly on Windows 7. I’ve created over a thousand different Premiere project files on this 5 year-old PC that was updated to Windows 7 last year.
All of my other Premiere 6 files open and maintain their original editability and all the features in this ancient version of Premiere work very well.
I own and use mostly Mac machines but I have one 5 year-old PC with a 160 gig hard drive with Windows 7 that I run Premiere 6 on because it’s a thousand dollar program that I had from 10 years ago that I didn’t want to repurchase. Buying a newer PC 5 years ago was far less expensive than buying a new copy of Premiere. Some people seem to think, “Wow, just buy a new version of the software for a thousand dollars and a new computer with a 5 Terabyte hard drive.”, but that isn’t always the reality of some peoples financial situation.
With 20 gigs of open HD space, all of my previous, even more complex Premiere 6 files still open and edit just fine. It is only this one file that I created Thursday that won’t re-open after closing it for the first time. Since the backup copy of that file won’t open either, and all the support files open, play and work in other previous project files, I’m thinking that there is some glitch that happened when saving this file that is corrupting it now, making it unable to be re-opened.
Based on prior advice on multiple topics about Premiere 6 from people on the Adobe forum who use only newer versions of Premiere, most information that applies to the brand new Premiere Pro CS5 still seems to apply to the old Premiere 6.
I found that holding down Shift-Option while opening Premiere 6 trashes the preferences file. This became my work around since I can’t locate the preferences file based on your path noted (in your blog) nor via the other prefs file path published on the Adobe website.
But unfortunately, trashing the prefs file, resetting the plugin cache file, increasing the virtual memory paging file size, importing the problem project file in to a new project, nor anything else is working to allow this file to open.
Now I’m looking in to XML:Wrench to see if that can find the corruption in this file, but I’ve had a malware warning from one download source and the xmlwrench.com website says their download is only a demo version, but no price is listed… this seems somewhat strange and possibly deceptive.
But I read something on an Premiere Pro wiki page , quoted below, at this URL, that seems to be pertinent, and though my version of Premiere may be ancient, it seems that, according to this user’s concerns, Adobe is still having problems with current versions of Adobe software creating corrupt files…
http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ:How_do_I_recover_a_corrupt_project%3F
QUOTE:
“Can someone please advise – why on EARTH we should have to download XML Wrench and manually fix a corrupt Adobe project??? This is something common to all the Adobe “Support” forums on issues like this, and the many others that plague Adobe’s product (and I’m not being a mindless troll – I’ve been forced to use it for years so I do know the usability and other issues it has): it seems that people are excited because they’ve found a “fix” (which is more like a work-around) – purely because they’re understandably ecstatic that all their hard work isn’t comPLETEly lost.
However, Adobe should be making sure their product isn’t so buggy! This issue should be fixed (as just one example). Adobe should be finding out what causes the corruption in the first place and fixing it. And whether it’s some other codec on the system that’s caused it is no excuse – their software should have better error management built into it. I’ve seen other issues where an Adobe support representative has happily replied: “oh, that’s a known issue since version [3 versions back] – don’t worry, most users are aware of the work around for it: just select and move all of the items in your timeline each time you open the project and you’ll be fine!”
I’m sorry to rant on – but can some other users please explain the above to me? (i.e. why aren’t more people annoyed about this and complaining to Adobe to fix these things).”
UNQUOTE
All of this coming from an experienced user of Adobe products complaining about needing XML:Wrench to fix corrupt Adobe files seems relevant.
In addition, why does no one, including the Adobe knowledge base, have any info about what “An error occurred while loading your project. 10″ means?… why isn’t there a database that identifies Adobe error numbers by the simple number itself? The only info I was able to find identifying “Error 10″ on the Adobe site was a software installation error, not a project loading error.
Now I find myself chasing a clean download of XML:Wrench in order to hopefully fix this corrupt file. Whether I’m using Premiere 6 on a 160 gig hard drive with 20 gigs of open space or Premiere Pro CS5 on a 5 Terabyte hard drive with 3 Terabytes of open space, the problems, according to other users, seem to be the same as ever with corrupt Adobe Premiere files, based on what I’ve been reading across the internet. -
Problem with loading a project from other system
Hi!
I am tring to load a project that being done on logic with audiowerk card on other computer. I can open the project but when I am choosing a channel and changing the sound-card name to my card (core audio) I can hear the sund but all the plug-ins/instruments disapear allthough i got the plug-ins and most of them are logic built in plug-ins.
What should I need to do in order to keep the plug ins and still be able to play the project from my sound card.
I have logic 7.1,Mac g5 and M-box.
Thanks,
Eshy. You should have chosen the other option when first launcing it
Convert to CA=yes
Usually this dialogue comes up, sounds like you brought it from an OS 9 system. The Logic plugs should follow through and the VSTs, well, you're kinda stuck there. Ask your client/friend to send the presets for 3rd party VSTs if you have them as AUs. Session interchange between your 2 platforms is not very rewarding, so do it as little as possible. -
Is it possible incremental load using sqlloader
Hi
I am working on datawarehousing projects and every day loading 3 lakhs record to target server using sqlloader. Is it possible incremental loading using sqlloader
Example First day loaded 3 lakhs record into target using sqlloader ,when next day need to load another 2 lakhs records .Using sqlloader how to do the incremental load?
Thanks inadvance
MohanHi
The sql loader has three options
Append
Replace
Truncate
The first option will help you and append the data and will not reject the duplicate . FOr rejecting duplicate record rejection make sure table has constraints.

But has problem Loading on the Deployment System "unable to load labview project"
has anyone had similar issues and ound a soln.
NI Support has not responded yet to the solution.

unabletoload.PNG 17 KBHi aparab,
I think I will need more information to solve this issue.
You told "NI Support has not responded yet to the solution." Do you already have a service request number of the NI support?
Can you post your project? Which RT-target do you use? Which hardware?
You can also post a MAX report of you windows computer and one of your target:
1. Start -> Programs -> NI MAX
2. File -> create protocol -> choose technical support and my system (development computer) -> next -> next -> choose path -> next -> finish.
3. File -> create protocol -> choose technical support and your RT-target (real-time system) -> next -> next -> choose path -> next -> finish.

Logic crashes when trying to load a project
When I try to load a project i Logic 9.1 I get the error report below. I've tried to delete all logic preference files, but that does not help. I've tried reinstalling Project without success. I've tried both with my external Audio-IF (Focusrite PRO 24) and with only the internal one.
I then tried opening the project from a different user on the same machine with the same Logic installation, and then it worked!!!
There must be some configuration file unique for the user that causses Logic to crash, but where do I find it?

In the beginning part of the crash report, it will always tell you which thread crashed:
Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGABRT)
Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000008
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
Here, as you can see above, it is saying that it was thread 0 that crashed. So this is the only one you need to look at for any clues. No need to post the entire crash report, or at least not on this forum where (most of us) aren't computer experts. An expert might be able to understand the whole report, but the only thing most of us know to look for is any sign of a 3rd party plug in, or a recognizable system function that was part of the thread that crashed.
So you then go down the list and look at what the thread that crashed was actually doing. It could be thread 4, 15, 26 or whatever. In this case, it was thread 0:

Looking through it, I saw a reference to 'MAAudio engine' in the crashed thread. So when you see something like that, you ask yourself, hmm, what plug in or driver or whatnot do I have installed that this could be talking about? 'MAAudio engine' looks to me like something to do with M-Audio, so I'd be asking myself what M-Audio things do I have installed on my system? A midi interface driver? Some kind of audio hardware driver? In other cases, it might be even more obvious, literally showing the name of a plug in that you instantly recognize. So your first port of call is to go find the driver or plug-in in question and disable it (temporarily remove it from it's usual location so it doesn't load), and see if you still get crashes. If it starts looking likely that this was the culprit, then you go to the manufacturer's website and check for updates, or look for any information on compatibility with your particular version of OSX, Logic, audio drivers etc. Or even just contact their tech support directly and ask them for further advice.
No offense intended if this comes across as patronizing, I just thought it might be useful to point out what the deal is with these crash reports. They do look completely mystifying, but all you need to look for is the clues I mentioned above. Of course, in some cases, you won't find anything that gives you a lead as to what the problem might be, in which case, your guess is unfortunately as good as anyone elses.. -

Given the info so far, that is all we can say.

FCPX 10.0.7 hangs when loading multiple projects - a non-destructive work around
FCPX 10.0.7 hangs when loading multiple projects - a non-destructive work around....
Hi Guys, I upgraded from FCPX 10.0.6 to 10.0.78 and discovered to my immense frustration that many of my 100+ FCPX projects would not load.
Symptom:
FCPX 10.0.7 appears to hang ("spinning beachball") with either high CPU% on a single core or with 1-2% CPU busy (activity monitor.app) when a FINAL CUT PROJECT is selected. No logs error information in /var/logs ..hmm
notices that the "status circle" spins around endlessly.
Actvity Monitor.app shows "Final Cut Pro (Not Responding)
and also I notice in some cases that an OEM filter ("NEAT VIDEO NOISE REDUCTION") is in progress to be loaded. FCPX V10.0.7 must be FORCED QUITtted to remove it from system.
History: Upgraded FCPX from V10.0.6 to V10.0.07.
"FINAL CUT EVENTS" and "FINAL CUT PROJECTS" on a single file system on SAS 16TB disk array (768MB/sec read via AJA system test) and 60% utilised capacity… FCP EVENTS has 400 events in it .. some 5.2TB of Prores essence etc .. all works fine! (i.e. the storage system is first class and is NOT the issue)
32GB of RAM on MAC PRO 2009 Nehalem 16 x Vcore with ATI 5780 card and ATTO HBA's (i.e. plenty of resources!)
As usual with any "upgrade" to FCPX 10.0.? all the EVENT objects need to be upgraded. In my case this takes an hour or two.. so I do that when asleep.
After experiencing above, I restored the FCPX EVENTS LIbrary of that file system from LTO4 tape archive (BRU-PE ) and still had the same issues as above.
WORKAROUND:
FORCEd QUIT FCPX V10.0.7
RENAMEd "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects" to "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects_original"
created (make) a new "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects" (use finder)
For each project !!! in "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects_original", (do one project at a time!!!)
MOVE "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects_original/one_fcpx_projext_nnnn_folder" to "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects"
Make sure you move ONLY one project at a time. If you have a subfolder of projects, please do each project one at a time (serially!)
Launch FCPX V10.0.7 and BE PATIENT!!! .. DONT click or fiddle with the UI.. it seems when you intervene it locks up as well…
Let FCPX V10.0.7 settle….
select the project you just added above and RELINK any objects it needs. Thumbnails and proxies will be rendered again.. just be patient
wait until ALL the rendering as stopped.
QUIT FCPX V10.0.7
(now if FCPX locks up, just force it out and start again as above).
repeat for all projects in "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects_original" (go to step 4 ad do until all projects moved)
When all is COMPLETED MAKE SURE YOU ARCHIVE an instance (or make a backup ) of "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects"
If this procedure has worked the folder "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects_original" will have zero (nill, none) projects in it.
I have managed to restore ALL my "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects" this xmas between drinking etc. I'm satisfied that its all ok.
Other issues:
use DISK WARRIOR or TT PRO 6 to make sure that the file system volume where your "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects" are is physically ok. I noticed some entries in file system's volume table that represented objects in "/volumes/some_file_system_volume/Final Cut Projects" were at fault when I used these utilities… FWIW.
SUMMARY: yes this took ages to d, however luckily I had everything in at least 3 instances in an archive which has saved me many time in the old FCP& and prior days… it was just a matter of time to put it back together.
I put this outage down to may be my own impatience when I first fired up FCPX 10.0.7 after the upgrade.
I'm interested if this workaround is helpful to others and in addtiion if others have a more satisfactory remedy.
HTH

Hong KongHi Eb, yeah I could not see any "memory leak" or unusual consumption of REAL memory whose less availability would cause excessive PAGEing and SWAPping as seen in the Activty Monitor.app
I watch this carefully especially the use of REAL MEMORY by 3rd Paryy apps. BTW there are a few that cause ALLOCATED but NOT USED memory (blue in the A.M.app UI). Simply a unix PURGE command can release that memory and help clean up the PAGE and VM swap files (its alleged!).
Yes, you may be might with the element of "Luck" involved. I would add though, that having MULTIPLE project displaying in the STORYLINE window and loading always caused my FCP 10.0.7 jam up at startup with h symtoms and observations I described.
TIP: I might also add that for a super speedy launch of FCPX one may also emply setting each PROJECT's UI to show only AUDIO thus negating the need to contstruct or reneder out a PREVIEW ui in each clip in the storyline.
Your/Apples suggestion of the movememt (rename) of "Final Cut Pro Projects" to "Final Cut Pro Projects Hidden" is similar to what I proposed above to stop FCPX 10.0.7 accessing and building it up at startup. This workaround has been useful inthe past as well.
ALso one might also get the stick out and remove (delete/rm) the ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.FinalCut.savedState in one's home ~/Library so that FCPX wont do such a neat job reinstating FCPX last time you crashed it... This has been helpful also in diagnosing my issues.
Lastly I have noticed that:
impatience clicking on the FCPX UI when in the unstable state causes it to lock up with NO visible CPU% busy.... as if its waiting on something which is usually me MEMTERMing it via FORCE QUIT and
the projects where I have employed the NEAT VIDEO Noise Reduction OEM filter for FCPX seem to exasserbate the PROJECT loading issues when several PROJECTS are available at FCPX startup time.
As of yesterday I have some 400+ EVENTS Final Cut Pro Events and 130+ projects of varying compexites in a single file system on Final Cut Pro Projects all working fine and as good as gold again!
Oh and one more thing, I had to RE-RENDER many projects of them again... strange as the FCP PROJECT library was renstated from a recent LTO archive as of V10.0.6 FCPX.. strange that...I would have expected if the projects and events were 10.0.6/7 compatable as proposed by Tom, that this would not be necessary... hmm straneg that
I'll monitor this thread.
Thanks for your comments lads!
