Is it possible to load music onto an iPod in Disc Mode?

Hi guys,
Is it possible to load music onto an iPod in Disc Mode?
I recently sold my 5th Gen 30Gb iPod on eBay, about a week later the buyer sent it back claiming it was faulty, he could not switch it on etc etc...
Within a few minutes I had it running again, but was making a clicking sound. So I put it into disc mode, connected it to my G4 and found out that the seller had managed to change the name of the iPod, delete some of my music, load some of their music onto the iPod and play that music.
My question is would they have been able to do all that in disc mode? Or would the iPod have to have been fully functional? Let alone using third party software to extract my songs that were already on the iPod.
I think they received a perfectly working iPod, used it, damaged it, were unable to fix it (couldn't be bothered to find out how) and so sent it back claiming it was faulty all along.
Thanks for any help and advice anyone can give.
Alex

Thanks, I realise that now.
It turns out that the buyer reformatted the iPod for Windows.
Would they have been able to do that in Disc Mode?
Or would the iPod have to have been fully functional?
I'm trying to prove that the iPod was indeed fully functional when they received it, because they were able to reformat it, rename it, delete some of my music and load some of their own music.

hmmm idk. i checked for an update but it said that the version i have was the latest version. i got my ipod in the last week of december/first week in january. i opened up itunes a minute ago and it said a new update was available, which i downloaded. now it says i can put photos onto it, but then that error message on itunes pops up saying 'The iPod could not be updated. THe disk could not be read from or written to.'Would it have anything to do with another error message that i get, ever since the first time i plugged it in, reading 'Failed to locate supported file types or there are no photos found on this device'. That one i havent seen in about an hour, and i have been able to edit which photos i put on my ipod for about an hour.

  • Itunes wont load music onto my ipod touch

Ever since i updated to ios 4.3.5 and itunes 10.4, itunes wont transfer my music to my ipod touch 4g. It just says finishing sync and wont do anything else. Please help me

If it is purchased music from iTunes make sure your iTunes is still authorized on your computer.
If it is, try to manually sync the music to the ipod touch. Below is an article that will assist you in doing this.

  • With the new ios7, can I not load music onto my phone anymore?

I've downloaded the new ios7 and now it seems I can't load music onto my phone anymore?  I have a 4s. I plug it in to iTunes and it says that the phone doesn't have a current version of iTunes on it.  I've searched in the app store and can't find one.
Instead I'm stuck with the player trying to play songs through my cloud and it's not even doing that properly.

  • Loading music onto smartwatch 3

    Hi
Has anyone figured out how to load music onto the sw3 4gb internal memory. i have try plugging it into my pc,but it dosnt show up.
    Take care
    Stuart

I had to add music into play music on the Web, download it to the phone from play music, then it automatically downloads to the sw3 when the download to android wear box is ticked. It kept stopping for me at first, I'm assuming as the battery was below 50% but after a quick charge it downloaded without issue.

  • Unable to put new music onto my ipod nano

Please, please can someone help me. I am unable to load any new music onto my ipod. When I put the cd into my the computer drive a message comes up "newer version of quick time required. Quick time version 7.0.2. is installed, itunes requires quick time version 7.0.03 or later. Please reinstall itunes.
I have reinstalled itunes - it still comes up with the same message. I have downloaded quick time from the website (windows version with and without itunes) and it still won't let me do anything and comes up with the same error message. After 2 hours of this - I've rather had enough of Apple and what at the moment is a rather defunct piece of equipment!
I would really appreciate any help that can be given. As you might of noticed I'm not a technical person...
    Thanks.

  • Loading games onto my ipod

The directions online say to click the games tab and sync the games in order to load them onto my ipod but there is no games tab only summary, music, podcasts, photos, and contacts, I am just curious as to how I am supposed to get the game I purchased onto my ipod. I have updated my software and am running the latest versions of itunes and ipod software and I am just lost as to what to do to get this game on my ipod. Help please!

You're posting in the first generation nano forum. If you actually have a nano, then you are unable to play the games downloaded from the iTunes Music Store - the games are only compatible with the fifth-generation iPods. Sorry.

    Are the Kindle purchases?
Just what happens when you try to redownload via the Kindle app on the iPod?
Deliver to Kindle for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Deliver books, periodicals, and personal documents to your Kindle reading app fromManage Your Content and Devices.
To successfully deliver Kindle content, the Kindle reading app must be registered to the same Amazon account you use to purchase Kindle content.
After you buy a Kindle book, Audible audiobook, magazine, or newspaper, the title is saved to the Cloud and can be accessed from Manage Your Content and Devices. New purchases are sent to your reading app and appear under the Cloud tab.
    From your computer:
Visit Manage Your Content and Devices
    Select Your Content.
Select the title and then click Deliver.
On the pop-up window, select the device or app from the drop-down menu.
Select Deliver. Your content will automatically be delivered to your device or reading app once its connected to a wireless network.
From the Kindle reading app Home screen, tap the Device tab to view and open the title.

  • I just purchased a new iMac. My iTunes account is missing a ton of music and I cant figure out how to access it. When I try to load music from my ipod to match my imac it only asks if i'd like to sink my ipod with my account. How do I access my library?

I just purchased a new iMac. My iTunes account is missing a ton of music and only contains "purchased" music. When I try to load music from my ipod to match my imac it only asks if i'd like to sinc my ipod with my account. How do I access my entire library? Thanks

Unless you subscribe to Match, you will have to transfer your non-iTunes stuff from your old computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
If you want to copy non-iTunes music off of your iPod (eg, if your old computer doesn't exist), you'll need to use a third party program.  I don't know of any free ones anymore, but if you google, you can find several in the $19 range.

Not only did the computer erase my music i had no idea how to get it back I contacted Apple on the phone but the name was american and i found it really hard to understand him. How do i get it back! i bought most of my music on itunes but i just dont have any idea where to go and whjat to do can any help me??
    Respond please!

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then see if you can redownload your past music purchases (those that are still in the store) via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you are not in a country where music can currently be re-downloaded, then have you not got it on your computer and/or on a backup ? If not then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • I have updated to IOS 7.1 my music has disappeared and my boyfriend has put his iPod music onto my iPod those also were gone I'd like to know how to get it back if there is anything you can tell me to get my music to pop back up that would be great.

You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library. If you sync with another iTunes library/computer the media from the iPod will be deleted and replaced with the media on the second computer.
If you want to change syncing computers then:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How do I get music onto my ipod with the new itunes?

I have a new ipod, and the new itunes. I cant find any itunes version information, but it downloaded on the 27/9/13
The old itunes showed your library and ipod icons on the left, and I could simply drag music onto the ipod icon.
With the new itunes, there is no ipod icon to drag music too.  I certainly dont want to put all my music onto ipod, or have it pick songs randomly.  I have way too much music for itunes, I basically drag some albums to itunes, copy them to the ipod, then delete them from itunes.  I have to do this for 2 reasons, one is that my music is spread over various places, and usually when you plug in an external drive it gives it a different letter, so you "lose" music, and secondly because much of my music doesnt have correct tags because I ripped it from my CDs before there was internet databases (yes I’m old).
Any ideas how I get an album from a HD onto my ipod?
Does anyone else find itunes inexplicably unintuitive?

    Hi hobbss,
It sounds like you may want to show the sidebar in iTunes.  You can access it again by following this:
    iTunes 11: Frequently used features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
Show Sidebar - Choose View > Show Sidebar (this feature will display iTunes features on the left side of the application including Library, Store, Shared, Genius, and Playlists).
Also, here is an article with information on how to sync media to your iPod:

  • Getting music onto my Ipod..

ok so i really need help,I was told by a friend that i can download music onto my ipod from a diffrent source then itunes like if i uploaded from a cd, and i was never told how to do it so ive been screwing around with it for a few hours and still cant get it...if someone could tell me how to i would love you forever.
    Thanx.

You must use iTunes to "rip" your Audio CD and store the resulting files on your computer. Once you see the music in the iTunes Music Library, you use iTunes to transfer the music to your iPod.
The process and information is contained in the iTunes Help files.
