Is it possible to lock individual text messages to prevent deletion?
Is there a way to lock an indiviual text message (iMessage) and prevent it from being deleted when the rest of the thread is deleted? Sometimes I want to keep certain messages because they are just too funny to get rid of!

Is it possible to lock individual app like messages, photos etc without jailbreak in io8....?
No third-party app can do what you want as those apps do not have access to iOS as a whole. They are (for the most part) sandboxed, and cannot directly access other apps.

I would like to be able to delete individual text messages not a whole conversation. With the iOS 7 update this is no longer possible.

Yes, that's the way it works now. -

Sure. Go to the conversation that contains the message(s) you wish to forward. Tap the Edit button in the upper right corner. Select the message(s) you wish to forward using the radio buttons. Tap "Forward" at the bottom right of the screen.

Is it possible to send a text message using the UDP protocol?
Support doc
http://www.adobe.com/support/director/multiuser/using_udp/using_udp02.html
says to use the following format with connectToNetServer:
errCode =
gMultiuserInstance.connectToNetServer([#remoteAddress:
"chatServer.myCompany.com", #logonInfo: [#userID: "Bob",
#password:
"MySecret", #movieID: "Tech Chat"], #mode: #smus,
#localUDPPort: 1627,
#localAddress: "123.45.67.89", #remoteTCPPort: 1626])
But if I change the mode to #text, it still sends out
messages as smus.
In fact, if I leave out the UDP parameters altogether but
still use the
list parameters for connectToNetServer, it still always sends
as smus.
Sends as smus:
errCode =
gMultiuserInstance.connectToNetServer([#remoteAddress:
"chatServer.myCompany.com", #logonInfo: [#userID: "Bob",
#password:
"MySecret", #movieID: "Tech Chat"], #mode: #text,
#localUDPPort: 1627,
#localAddress: "123.45.67.89", #remoteTCPPort: 1626])
Sends as smus:
errCode =
gMultiuserInstance.connectToNetServer([#remoteAddress:
"chatServer.myCompany.com", #logonInfo: [#userID: "Bob",
#password:
"MySecret", #movieID: "Tech Chat"], #mode: #text])
Only the string parameter method can be made to send text
messages.
Sends as text:
errCode = gMultiuserInstance.connectToNetServer("Bob",
"MySecret",
"chatServer.myCompany.com", 1626, "Tech Chat", 1)
Am I missing something? Is this a known issue? Anyone have a
work around?

Thanks for the answer though.

AAfter you delete several individual text messages, your trash can will disappear, and then you'll only have the option to delete all or cancel
And the message remains after a hard reset?

I restored my iphone from a backup that is about one month old (because all my contacts had disappeared). Is it possible to retrieve the text messages that occurred after that back up. They disappeared after the restore.
I don't know if I'm on the same page as you.
But if you backed up the phone with those contacts pictures notes etc, you should get them back.
After restoring your phone, use the back up that done when you had those contacts messages etc?? -
HT4528 old text messages are being deleted automatically
my old text messages are being deleted automatically but this seems to only happen with one contact. Has anyone experienced/fixed this?
If you had pop and now want to use imap you need to create another (new) email account in Mail.
When you start creating a new account, press the option key when you click the Continue button and you will be given the choice of creating the account for pop or imap. -

You restore the phone from a backup made when the message was still present.

How do I retreive text messages I have deleted
Anyone know how I can retreive text messages I have deleted?
If you made a backup of your iPhone with iTunes or iCloud you can restore that backup to your iPhone, but the text that you want back would have to have been on the iPhone when the backup was made.

Do old text messages automatically get deleted on the 4s

The new version of the software for my iPhone 4 changed the way text messages are managed.
I can no longer delete individual texts from a text "conversation." I also have not figured out how to forward texts, which I was able to do in the prior version.
Anyone know a way to edit out individual messages without losing the entire string?
Anyone know if there is a way to forward messages? When you have the conversation open, if you tap & hold on a message bubble, you should get a new menu pop-up. It should have 2 options "Copy" and "More..." If you select the "More..." option it will then let you select one or more message bubbles and delete the selected ones by hitting the trach can icon in the lower left corner. As for forwarding, you probably just select the "Copy" option, then paste the contents into a new message...
