Is it possible to make an iWeb site accessible to mobile phones? (in Japan)

Is it possible to make an iWeb site accessible to mobile phones? (I'm in Japan)
I've tried making a tiny site but my own phone (au A5516T by Toshiba) can't display it.
The URL is accepted but displays just a white blank screen.
I can't see anything about it in this iWeb forum or iWeb Help. Which I guess means that either it's impossible or that it's so elementary I shouldn't have to ask!
Is there some special code involved?
Any hints much appreciated. Thanks.
Simon

How can I make my iWeb site private with a password?

The inbuilt facility to do this disappeared with the demise of MobileMe. It is possible: some ISPs offer this facility (GoDaddy is one) so you should start by checking whether yours does.
If not, you can do it yourself provided your ISP allows you to add an .htaccess file to your foldere - not all do. Also it's not entirely straighforward if you are unfamiliar with the techniques involved.
    This page describes the method:

Please note the caveats at the bottom of the page: this isn't a highly secure method and you should not rely on it to protect sensitive information.

  • Where can I keep my old iweb site now that mobile me is gone

I had my iweb site posted on mobile me, now I was wondering where I can store it to share with others

You will need to get yourself a 3rd party web host.
I have been using IX Webhosting for several years with little to no problems "usually the problem was something I did" and they have been quick to solve any issue I have come across. The have plans that start at $3.95 a mo (USD) and their customer service is top notch.

  • Is it possible to nest an iWeb site into another iWeb site?

    Hello,
Is ist possible to nest iWeb sites?
Let's assume I have two iWeb sites, called site A and site B. Site A is my main site, and I would like to insert site B into A, so that 'site B' appears in the navigator, and that clicking site B in site A's navigator will take me to site B?
I could drag all of site B's content elements (blog, albums etc) to A, but this would make them appear all in site A's navigator, which would give a clutter of section titles.
    Suggestions?
    Best wishes,
    Olaf.

What you do is get rid of the standard navigation by unchecking the "display navigation menu" box of the "page" inspector for each page of your site.
Build a new navigation in a text box with links to all the pages in Site A plus a link to site B. Copy and paste this navigation to all the pages of your site.
    Repeat for site B.

  • Is it possible to have 2 iWeb sites (not just "Start Site")

I have a great functioning iWeb site, but it is my personal site and I need to create a separate one for my business. Is there a way to do this in iWeb? I don't want to switch back and forth between "start sites"

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes, you can have multiple sites. One way is to use iWebSites to create a separate domain file for your second site and switch between the two for editing and publishing. I use iWebSites to manage over 40 individual sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
You can have multiple sites in one MobileMe account. They would have their own separate URLs as follows: http://web.me.com/yourMMe_accountname/site name. If you have domain names those would be the URLs you would forward to.

  • Is there a way make an iWeb site appear on Google?

With other software I know you need code to do that. I was wondering if iBank had some other way to do it since it doesn’t let you add code to websites.

I use iWeb '09 for my company's site (www.inchwormdesign.com), and I have done everything mentioned here. All is good, but you need to do one more thing.
Download the free program called iWeb SEO Tool (http://www.ragesw.com/products/iweb-seo-tool.html), and do the following:
    1. from iWeb, publish site to folder on hardrive (i.e. user-sites-'your site')
    2. open up iWeb SEO Tool
    3. click on 'OPEN WEBSITE' from top left corner of program window
    4. select the entire site folder you published to, and click 'CHOOSE'
    5. now, all the files will appear on the left hand side of the program. You will need to select every .html page that is associated with your site (e.g. if you have a 'HOME' page, then you will have a folder called "HOME FILES" and you'll have just below or above called "HOME.html"). After you have selected a .html from the left, you simply fill in the info on the right side of the program.
    6. after you've finished all pages info, simply select 'PUBLISH', and fill out your FTP settings for your host (this should be the same info you use on iWeb's publishing attributes).
The most important information to fill is the Title Tags & Meta Tags. Be sure you take some time to thoroughly figure out your site's information. All this information is then picked up by Google's spiders and other search engines. The more and more your site pops up around the internet (i.e. visitors, blogs, links, etc.), the more these spiders will detect your tags and will therefore rank your site higher. A lot of this stuff is completely up to you, though. If you don't get visitors and you don't share and network your site, then your rank on search engines will not be very high.
Another very important thing about the iWeb SEO Tool:
    - say you want to make changes to your site and edit pages, etc. as everybody always does, how do you republish the site with all the same tags you added before? Once you've used iWeb SEO Tool, you'll never want to publish via iWeb again, because you'll lose all those very important tags. Luckily the iWeb SEO Tool allows you to do this pretty painlessly.
    1. make changes to site using iWeb
    2. publish site to folder (same folder as before)
    3. open iWeb SEO Tool
    4. open your website in same fashion as before
    5. when your site is loaded, select the button on the right pane called 'RE-APPLY SAVED TAGS'. This will apply all the same information for every page you did previously. If you add or subtract pages, you will have to do some tweaking, and add new information for new pages, but all pages that you've had before will have all the same information applied.
    6. publish site
This is pretty cool, and works really well. It's a perfect complement to iWeb, since iWeb has very limited control when it comes to Search Engine Optimization.
    Hope you find this helpful.
    Cheers,
    jeff

  • Is it possible to have 2 iWeb sites with one .mac account?

I am trying to create a business site with my CV (resume) and work credentials as well as a personal site with photos etc for family and friends. Is this possible to do with iWeb?

To keep sites totally separate for publishing you
need to keep their data files totally separate,
either by switching them in and out or by running
iWeb from separate user accounts. The data file is
    located at
    Users/username/Library/Application
    Support/iWeb/Domain
thank you -- that's gonna have to be the answer I guess, til they hopefully add a new feature.. my non-.mac site is for my kids' swim team, so I'll just create a 'swim team' user account for now. Not TOO inconvenient, I don't suppose.
If you have two sites in the same data file already
you can separate them by making a copy of the current
Domain, then deleting one site from the current
Domain, putting that somewhere safe, inserting the
old Domain copy, and deleting the other site from
that, giving you two Domains each with one site.
keeping my fingers crossed that this works.
    thanks again,
    Jo

  • Is it possible to view an iWeb site locally in a browser without an internet connection?

I am trying to find out if an iWeb site could be viewed in a local computer kiosk environment.  I know that you can export your files, but are iWeb site files "self-supporting" in a browseer or do they require a connection to the internet to be viewed properly?

iWeb is an application to create simp,e straitforward webpages with.
The pages are published to a folder called a  site.
Every page is selfcontained, with the exception of the photoalbums, which need a few files from the Apple Server.
In general pages are best served thru a webserver, but the pages can also be opened as a file on the desktop and they will display properly.
You can easily verify it by looking at webpages and see what files they use.
Here are some sites where you can see the file/folder structure :
         http://www.wuala.com/Maaskant
         http://www.wuala.com/Cafenoir
         http://www.wuala.com/Stellar
To see the webpages click on the index.html file.
BTW, Wuala is an alternative to DropBox. Safer too. No Government agents have acces to private files.
    Wuala protects your privacy.
All files are directly encrypted on your desktop. Your password never leaves your computer. Not even we as the provider can access your files or your password.

  • How do  find the number of visits to my iweb site hosted on mobile me?

can you please tell me how to monitor the number of hits to my iweb site?
    thanks
    david swann

If you would like to know, in addition to the number of visitors, where they are from, what size monitor they used, what site they came from to get to your site, what browser they used,  what system they were using and more then try a 3rd party counter.
I use StatCounter which give all that info an more.  This tutorial describes how to add the counter to each page via an HTML snippet: #13 - Adding a StatCounter as an HTML Snippet

  • How i can make my new ipad as a mobile phone?

How i can make my ipad as a mobile phone?

There are VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) apps on the app store that will let you make voice calls on any internet connection.  Some are free, some have fee's associated with them.  There are also apps that allow you to send SMS/MMS messages, most are free, some have fees.  There are also apps that have VOIP and messaging capabilities in one app.  Search around and find what suits your needs.

  • Lifestreaming to my iweb page from a mobile phone

Wondering if I can use my Nokia N95 to post directly to my iWeb page. I'd like to be able to add photos, short text entries, video, etc. Can i do that directly from a mobile phone, or only via iWeb?
Ideally, I'd like it to be as easy as posting photos to my Flickr account from my phone.
Thanks for any suggestions and tips.

After you open Firefox, go to "Preferences" and there's an option called Start Page, click on "Custom Page". From there, you can set your home page there.
FYI, You can download the FF4 now, unless you want to stay with the beta version.

  • Is it possible to make a local class accessible in SE24 subclasses?

    G'Day,
The scenario is simple: I have a global class created in SE24 with a local helper class defined in the local definitions/implementations sections. The issue is anything declared here is private; however I would like my local class to be available in the subclasses of the global class as well. In other words I want a protected local class.
    ZCL_SUPER  --> contains local utility class LCL_HELPER
        |
        V
ZCL_SUB    --> needs to make use of LCL_HELPER's methods.
I've messed about with different definitions and FRIENDS but no joy.
I can think of two alternatives:
    1. Write a protected wrapper method in zcl_super to expose each lcl_helper method to the subclasses. Annoying, cumbersome, defeats the object of using a local class in first place.
    2. Define LCL_HELPER in an include which is added to all subclasses. This effectively makes it public as I no longer control where LCL_HELPER is used. (Unless I do funky stuff with packages which we don't do on this project).
    Any better suggestions/ideas/workarounds?
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi Naimesh,
Thanks for the input. Interesting idea about interfaces, I need to play around with this a little.
I don't agree what I'm trying to do would violate encapsulation. I'm after the same visibility level as other class component type. i.e. methods can be private, protected or public. Classes can be local or global - a protected class visible to subclasses would fit the principles quite well.
Consider a global class GADGET which has a protected attribute WIDGET, type ref to a local class. The widget's methods and attributes should really be separate because it is it's own entity, but at the same time it has no business in the wider SAP system. ==> Perfectly sensible use of a local class.
Now, this widget can turn, open, close, light up. So in a GADGET method I can say WIDGET->TURN( ). Create a subclass of GADGET and boom, all such code working with WIDGETs is broken. In some ways it makes local classes a little un-future-proof.
The bothersome thing about the workarounds is that they de-object-orient the two objects by forcing us to create protected methods TURN_WIDGET LIGHT_WIDGET OPEN_WIDGET etc. on the GADGET class. Which goes back to my original point that there's little benefit of creating a local class if we need to do this....
    Or am I missing something?
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • Is it possible to make a windows PC an IPv6 mobile node?

Hi, I'm wondering if any one used a windows PC (XP, seven or other) as IPv6 mobile node, if anyone knows a name of any tool, please give it to me.

I'm not sure what you mean by "node" but yes, you can use netsh commands to make Windows do RA and routing.

  • Is it possible to make a code editor in Java?

I'm new to java and so i'd like to know if it would be possible to make a simple code editor for Mobile Phones with Java.
The code editor will be for GML.
I'd like to make it so that the code can be easily edited on a wide range Mobile phones (not necissarily smart phones).
If this is possible, I would greatly appreaciate any help or advice. Thanks.

Even day in this forum we see what code looks like when this advice is not followed.my first java code 5 years ago was an applet with a changing 2d function being animated.
it worked after 2 grueling days and i was so happy because visual feedback was my only motivation.
so its hard to say. granted, my code was awful for a long time.I'm thinking of the guy last week who had Swing+JDBC code and kept pestering for help on an obvious syntax error (he was invoking a method with no arguments when it was defined to take a String array) and for the life of him, he couldn't see the error or understand the error message. Posters kept telling him to learn the fundamentals first, but he was stubborn and kept demanding someone fix his syntax error...

I did my entire site in iWeb, using nearly zero template-based elements:

that's a pretty good looking iWeb site.
I also think something he mentions is good advice for someone who wants to make a iWeb site look as pro as possible, which is to avoid the templates. While the templates look good on the Mac, they seem to be a cause of grief for IE, which most people use to surf the net. Also, they're canned. It's better, I think, to start with a blank slate and build from there. Stylistically, I think there's a trend towards simple elegance in professional websites rather than ginned up designs that are no longer as popular as they used to be.
Here is a site I made in iWeb that exemplifies the "simple elegance" that I think is becoming popular these days and also coincides with iWeb's ability to work better on more systems when the design elements are kept simple. Basically, the iWeb site I came up with is a search engine. I know that sounds boring but I'm thinking it may be handy for people looking for a particular website but don't know where to find it yet. There are also some additional features I've been adding into it, and advertising here and there to generate some income, but basically it's a search engine. I've finally gotten it off MobileMe and onto a 3rd party host so the URL is now www.google.com. Let me know what you think!
