so I understand that there's no chance to put my dirty hands on these settings with my BT home hub 2.0
is there's a chance to get complete list of default QOS settings for BT Hub & exchange?

I think that may overstate the position a little. Certainly, in my own case I have both a HH4 and a HH5 and I use the HH5 from choice (by itself - not plugged in to the Openreach modem). X3500 QoS settings -- do they do anything?

I've had an X3500 for a few weeks, and while it's functioned reasonably well I've been generally disappointed at the quality of the firmware (v1.0.0 build 18). One problem I'm having is with the QoS settings:
whenever I change something and click 'save', my wireless connection drops pat
nothing I do on the QoS page seems to have any effect on traffic patterns
I've tried every combination of settings to prioritise traffic for particular applications (including all three QoS types on the 'setup' page), but none of them have any effect. At times of high load, traffic does not seem to be prioritised in any way.
Has anyone managed to get any measurable results out of the QoS settings?

I see what you're saying, but the wireless drop is at the data link layer: all the wireless clients actually disconnect from the network, rather than simply being throttled or being unable to pass traffic. It's as if the access point has re-initialised and dropped all connections. Sadly nothing useful is written to the log when this happens apart from the DHCP requests as the clients reconnect.
I've tried high- and low-throughput devices, wired and wireless, WMM on and off, and all three QoS types, but I'm unable to detect any effect at times of high load.

How do people manage QoS Policies in large network without using QPM

We are using QPM to manage QoS polices however we are looking at decommissioning CiscoWorks. How are people managing with their QoS settings in large environments?

I have no idea about the modem and bridge mode (I don't do networking -- hopefully Bob Timmons, Tesserax, or one of the other networking gurus will drop in and address that).
But . . . you should be able to back up to the TC as long as it's on your network and recognized by your Macs. I think being in bridge mode means it will be rather slow, but it should work. Until/unless we hear otherwise, you might want to see #Q1 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule.

QoS Settings

Team - I'm looking to ensure I get the highest quality on my Skype calls. I have an ASUS RT-AC66U router which is BLAZING fast but want to I get the best quality on my Skype calls. Does anybody have any info about what protocols I need to prioritize or info on how to ensure I maximize the QoS settings on my router to get top speeds for Skype? Thanks, Jason

my 2 cents: 1. I believe Skype packets don't want to be identified, because this can lead to some sort of sabotage by telecoms / admins. 2. People don't know how to do QOS in Skype (because Skype doesn't want they do this), but the community mecanism forces them to always answer (to get more kudos), so they will reply with unhelpful answers like: "QOS is useless", "try to do with DMZ", but this is not what you are looking for. 3. In technology everything is possible, but sometimes only with hard efforts. I don't know how to do this in Skype in a easy way, but maybe you can force Skype to use a specific IP (by using the proxy setting or using Skype in a virtual machine) and configure your router to do QOS with this specific IP.

Have been trying to get to the root cause of the problem but did not find much on this. I am trying to figure out what can get the warning to go away completely than using the Allow/Always Allow options for the plug-in

Thank you for your response. Here is the screenshot of the warning that I am talking about.
Here is what I do:
1. Launch Safari and open its Preferences. I have Safari 7.1 installed on my machine.
2. Click Security Tab and click Manage WebSite Settings
3. A window opens showing me all the Plug-ins that I have (listed on the left hand side).
4. One of them is the Adobe Reader plug-in. When I click Adobe Reader, the following details about the plug-in show up on the right
I was referring to the highlighted section that warns me about this plug-in not using the highest level of security for Safari Plug-ins.
Note: I do not see this for all my plug-ins (QuickTime, Adobe Flash Player don't give me this warning) which tells me that there is a way to make the warning go away.

Is it possible to change the settings in AR Properties Advanced tab with Adobe Acrobat XI?

I noticed when I went to print a PDF double sided, that despite the following the guidelines from Adobe on this process, it still printed single sided. I checked the properties of the PDF itself and on the Advanced tab, the DuplexMode was set to Simplex and was greyed out.
Is it possible to change the settings in that tab with Adobe Acrobat XI?

I have two printers, both support automatic duplexing. Any PDF we receive
or create we are unable to print double sided on our mac mini¹s. I didn¹t
make it clear in my question that we were fine on Windows XP, but, having
recently changed to Mac have encountered this frustrating problem.
I did a lot of research prior to recording the question and it appears I am
not the only one who has come across this problem, and I have followed the
guidelines that Adobe promote on their website to be able to print double
sided, which doesn¹t work on the mac mini Osx Mavericks.
Because the Properties, Advanced tab has ³Print Dialog Presets² that are set
to simplex and greyed out I took that to mean that no matter what printer
settings I make, and I think I¹ve gone through all that I can, the pdf will
not print double sided on Mac but will on XP.
Sorry this isn¹t the reply you must have been hoping for and look forward to
receiving further advice in regard to this matter.

STEP 2.
Run nVidia control panel and go to 3D settings. Click the Manage 3D settings option and at the Program Settings tab click Add.
Locate Premiere.exe and click it.
Below, at the Multi-Display/Mixed-GPU Acceleration option, click Compatibility Performance Mode and click Apply.
Does anyone know that the above step is supposed to accomplish. I forgot to do it with my 460, but all seems to be working fine anyway.

Snow Leopard Server - Managed Dock Settings

Hello Everyone,
In our environment, we are running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.7 with a mix of 10.5 and 10.6 clients. We are managing settings via Open Directory. We have a computer group policy configured to manage our dock policy settings among a few others. Within WGM, our dock policy settings are setup to be managed "once." When the policy was configured, our Mac administrator put together a customized default dock arrangement with the most commonly utilized applications included in our base image allowing our end users to start with a small clean dock arrangement and add applications/folders as desired.
Regrettably, last week I inadvertently made a change within WGM's managed dock settings in our default production policy. The following morning, several end users logged on to find that their dock customizations had been discarded and replaced with the default setup. To minimize the impacted users, I enabled "merge with user's dock" to avoid further loss of dock customizations. Looking forward, as we roll out new hardware with new images to our existing users, I would like to start with the same scaled back dock with the commonly utilized applications included in our base image. The problem with enabling "merge with user's dock" is that the default set of Mac OS X icons is included causing the dock to be cluttered.
Is there anyway to only apply managed dock preferences if there is not a local profile on the machine the user is logging into? Any other thoughts for circumnavigating the mess I created?

Enabling "merge with user's dock" created problems of its own by introducing duplicate icons for some users. In the end, I unchecked it. Unfortunately, all users are going to receive the default dock arrangement and have to re-customize their dock preferences as desired.

'System Error' when trying to save Form Manager Registry Settings

Hi,
trying to save changes made in the form manager registry settings [Home > Services > Adobe LiveCycle Form Manager > Registry Settings (http://localhost:8080/FormManagerAdmin/registry-cfg-load)], I get an error, which reads:

Has anyone had this error as well?
The system runs fine apart from the jboss log files being crammed with the well-known and pretty annoying
SpyJMSException.
Does anyone have an idea how to apply changes to the form manager registry settings, if the web ui does not work? Where are the 'form manager registry settings' being stored? Maybe I succeed in changing the settings manually at least without having to re-install Livecycle...

We are using JBoss 3.2.5.
Weirdly, last week a collegue of mine was able to save the registry changes. This week, both of us get the 'System error' when trying to save changes. Even using a default Administrator account, we were unable to save changes.
Is there any other way apart from the LiveCycle web UI to change the registry settings without having to re-install the server? Where are these values stored?

Maintaining multiple GL accounts is good way because you would not know clear picture for each type of investments in same bank.
Whenever management is asking for details for different type of investments in same bank, then it will give us trouble.If it is not required you happily use single GL for multple investments.

In portals there is a saying all authentication in portal while authorization in ackend so it goes here also BI authorization has to be done at backend . a way arround may be that u can migrate roles from backend to portal but in that case you need not create portal contents but authorization still remains at backend,hope this helps you please do not forget to give points
