Is it possible to migrate WebCenter Portal data from a SQL database to an Oracle database?

We have our WebCenter Portal applications set up using a SQL database. Now we're wanting to migrate to an Oracle database and I'm wondering if that is possible.

Yes it should be possible though i have not tried it myself. You basically export a file from mds ( xml) and import it into oracle db.
Thanks

  • Exporting data from a multiple worksheet excel to oracle database.

    Hi,
Am having a very big problem,i have to export data from excel to database. My excel is havin multiple worksheet.
I thought of most of the options nothing is suiting my layout.
SQL loader ,can't use due to multiple worksheet.
HSServices can;t use because my column headings are row wise, and the excel start with a big Heading rather than having column headings.
UTL_FILE can't use beacuse of multiple worksheet, and frankly speaking i don't know how to use utl file with excel to read paticular cell in excel.
    Thanks

First of all: this is a forum of volunteers.
So no one is obliged to respond to you.
Therefore 'urgent' does not exist in this forum, and labeling your request as 'urgent' is considered rude by many. If it is really that urgent, submit a prio 1 request at Metalink.
Secondly, I don't think you thought of most of the options.
Yes, you can use SQL*Loader as you can dump each individual worksheet to a separate CSV file.
Also, you didn't consider ODBC. If ODBC in Excel is too cumbersome, you can use MsAccess to hook the Excel sheet in Msaccess, connect to the database using the Oracle ODBC driver and design an ordinary append query,
Obviously, you would need one query per worksheet.

  • Import data from a Fixed Length File into Oracle database

    Hi,
I would like to import data from a Fixed Length text file into a table using HTML DB application.
As of now, i have a .sql file(that uses external table) to import the data into Oracle tables
I would like to integrate this in my HTML DB application so that the user can directly import the data into the table.
    Sample data
    XXXYYYYZZZZZ
Data should be read to table that has
    Col1 Col2 Col3
    XXX YYYY ZZZZZ

    Hi,
I would like to import data from a Fixed Length text
file into a table using HTML DB application.AFAIK, fixed length imports are not something you can do directly with the HTML DB tools or available APIs.
As of now, i have a .sql file(that uses external
table) to import the data into Oracle tables
I would like to integrate this in my HTML DB
application so that the user can directly import the
data into the table.Any fixed-length data needs to have a specification associated with it that indicates which character position begins a new column and what each column represents. Some also include what datatype should be used for each of those.
If you really want to do this I would suggest that you create a table that you can store the file spec in. It would probably have columns for field name, start position, length or end position, datatype and any alias/column name you might want to apply. You would then use this table in a PL/SQL procedure (probably a package with the main processing procedure and various supporting procedures/functions) to read the file into memory, apply the file spec to each line and then do inserts into your table.
Obviously, this is just a concept or strategy. Implementing it will depend on your PL/SQL skills and determination. If you want to pursue this strategy I'm sure you can find some jump-starts by doing a search on the PL/SQL forum.
This may not sound like an answer - but the answer is you need to code it to fit your requirements. Hope that helps.

  • DB Migration from MS SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 9i

    Hi Guys
I want to migrate the data from Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 9i.
Could ou please suggest me the how to proceed.
I can simply extract the das in CSV format as their are Foreign key , Primary key concept is there. So what will be the best way to proceed ....
    regards
    Macky

    Macky,
In the coming months we will add support for SQL Server 2005 to the Oracle Migration Workbench. See our statement of direction on OTN for more details.
If you have extracted the data into a csv file format, you could construct a SQL Loader control file to load this data, assuming you have already created the table on the Oracle side.

  • Is it possible to migrate BCM 2003 data to BCM 2010 w/o first installing and migrating it to BCM 2007?

Obviously. I have my BCM built on the Office 2003 Outlook 2003 BCM platform.  Now with a change of operating systems and various upgrades including the installation of Office 2010 with Outlook 2010 w/BCM, I seem to have no pathway to import my 2003
BCM Backup.  I am now without access to my BCM database information and seriously compromised in my business.  Therefore the question: Is it possible to migrate BCM 2003 data to BCM 2010 w/o first installing and migrating it to Outlook
    2007 w/BCM?
    Thanks Den

The reason I want to use the Back up and Restore process is I really want to retain my original Create Date on my Business Contacts
I will try to answer your questions below:
Question: Is there a URL to download BCM 2007 … I haven’t been able to find one anymore – I saw one a couple years ago but can’t find it now.
As info, I am running this on a Test System so I know exactly how to get BCM 2003 to BCM 2010 with the Create Date intact.
    Yes, I have admin status.
BCM seems to work fine after I installed it.  I didn’t go through an extensive test though.
What do you suggest I do to confirm BCM is working since I don’t have any data in it?
After I submitted my question to this forum, I tested the Export / Import method of getting my data to BCM 2010.
I confirmed the Create Date is the Import date.  Drat!
Then I restored the OS System to the point where I had installed Office 2010 w/ BCM.
Then I Ran the install of the newer version of BCM.  It “discovered” there was a BCM version already there and asked me if I wanted to delete it.
I deleted it or the install deleted it … I can’t quite remember.
    Ran the install.
OK, here’s some weirdness I noticed:
The Download of the “newest” version of BCM I just downloaded is: V-4.00.12006.00
    (KB 2793723.)
When I looked at the version number – File > BCM It stated I had BCM V-4.00.12006.00
    This confirms the installation worked.
I ran the Restore from the backup of BCM 2003 and it states it has to convert from 2.03606.0 to 4.0.9812.0.
I knew it would have to do a conversion.
BUT, it states it’s going to convert to version 4.0.9812.0 NOT version 4.00.12006.00!!!!
    How did Version 4.00.12006.00
    get there?
Which one is the newest one?
    Any thoughts??
I clicked “OK” to start the migration.
After a while I got the “Database Migration Unsuccessful” message.
Below are some errors I found in the Event Viewer > Application.
The date on them is about a week before the latest attempt to go from BCM 2003 to BCM 2010.
They are not from the restore I just described because they don’t have the date I ran the latest restore.
    Any thoughts??

  • Is it possible to take the CDR data from a v4.2 Call Manager and copy it to a separate server where it would be made available for reporting?

Is it possible to take the CDR data from a v4.2 Call Manager and copy it to a separate server where it would be made available for reporting? We are not interested in migrating the CDR data to v6 because of the concerns it introduces to the upgrade process. Is it possible to get the raw data and somehow serve it from a different machine? (knowing it would be 'old' data that stops as of a certain date). If so, what would be the complexity involved in doing so?
It seems like the CDR data lives within MSSQL and the reporting interface is within the web server portion of the Call Manager... that's as far as we've dug so far.

    Hi
It is absolutely possible to get the data - anyone you have in your org with basic SQL skills can move the data off to a standalone SQL server. This could be done most simply by backing up and restoring the DB using SQL Enterprise Manager.
Moving the CAR/ART reporting tool would be more difficult... if you do actually use that for reporting (most people find it doesn't do what they need and don't use it for anything but basic troubleshooting, and get a third party package) then the best option may be to keep your publisher (possibly assigning it a new IP) and leave it running for as long as you need reporting.
You would then need a new server to run your upgraded V6 CCM; you may find you need this anyway.

  • Migrating SAP Crystal Data from One BO BI 4 to another and on a different domain

Thank you for reading this and thank you in advance.
This is pretty new to me, I have installed Crystal Server several times before but never had to do much with it and the person that looked after it left a year ago.
So I have been tasked to migrate all the data from our current SAP Crystal BO 4 server to another.
It gets slightly complicated, the company I used to work for was recently acquired and now they want me to move the BO server across to their data-centre on their domain but keeping all the data intact, more the reports not the historical data. I understand that I might have to change a few things but don't want to recreate all the reports and dependencies. At the same time the IT team will now have to look after the reporting.
The new company doesn't currently have any reporting system in their environment and thus want to use ours going forward.
I have read several documents and forums but just can't seem to find a method that will do the trick.
The new BO 4 server is up and running at the same function level/SP as the current production server.
So I have tried Promotion Management, I added pretty much everything needed, then managed the dependencies and exported without any errors, on the new server I get an error(in the background) straight up when importing, although it sits and spins around for ages but nothing come from it.
I looked at using Crystal Reports to save the reports and then import them but after speaking to the person that managed it back in the day she advised me its not just as simple as that, there is a few things that needs to be done to make the report work again.
I read about coping the input data folder and importing the DB directly but figured that would not have a good outcome in the end.
Is there anyone that had done something similar, or know how to get it across with the least amount of trouble. Even if it's a bit of work as long as I can get it across, that will be great.
The last resort will be to learn how the entire system works and at least get the reports across but then fix up all the dependencies, schedules etc.
Just not sure where to start to be honest.
    Thank you again.
    Marius

Promotion Management is meant to promote small amount of objects. if you need to do complete migration, you can use command line tool of Promotion management.
Check this link how to promote.

Is it possible using SQLite to collect data from an older SQL database? Where can I find a possible answer. Thanks in advance.

There are 3rd-party tools (see comprehensive list at http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html) that provide extra pdf functionality on top of the pdf export from Crystal.
In the case of my Visual CUT software, you can use hidden formulas inside your Crystal report to generate form fields (pre-populated as well as empty) as part of the pdf export process.

  • Migration of portal content from EP 6.0 SP 15 to NW 2004s Portal

    Hi,
Our requirement here is to migrate Portal content from EP version 6.0 SP15 to the latest Netweaver portla (NW2004s). Expecting helpful suggestions from SAP EP gurus!!!
All helpful answers will be rewarded. Gurus, please help!!!
    Cheers,
    L Buegg.

    Leena,
These are the steps in migrating the portal content from the EP 6 SP15 to the Netweaver Portal (EP 7.0 or the NW 2004s Portal) in simple:
    1. Go to <b>System Administration -> Transport -> Portal Content</b>. Right click on the folder, you wish to transport. Select <b>New -> Transport Package</b> .
    2. Fill all the details (like name of the transport package, id etc) and then add the objects(iViews, Pages etc) you wish to transport to the newly created transport package by right clicking on the objects.
    3. Once the objects are all added, click on Export in the object editor of the Transport package and the export happens immediately.
    4. Navigate to Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Export of the EP 6 SP 15 Portal Server. You will see the epa file created during this export process.
    5. Copy this epa file and place it in Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Import folder structure of the NW 2004s Portal Server. Go to <b>System Administration -> Transport -> Import</b> and do the import as you would import any business package.
This are the steps to export and import the portal content from one portal server to another portal server.
    Hope this helps!!!
    Sunitha.

It sounds like a remote erase was sent via 'Find My Mac', to check please go to www.icloud.com and login. Is there any data there?
If it was a remote erase only someone who had the ID and password could have done it. And in that case the data is gone, it is not recoverable I'm afraid.

  • Migration from sybase sql server 7 to Oracle 8i

    Hi,
We have a very old Sybase database which contains some 2gb of data which is still being used by the users, we want to phase this out. We want to selectively export some tables and import them into our oracle 8i database. I have looked at documentation related to the migration workbench and it wont work for us because the version of sybase database is very old and I cannot find any client software either to help me to connect to the database.
I noticed in this forum, several messages suggesting the use of bcp to export data from the sql server and then sql*loader to import the data into oracle.
Can anybody please send me the information on bcp and how to export data using that and then how to import it in oracle. I am familiar with sql*loader but am not a expert so any help on how to define the control file etc for sql*loader would be helpful.
    Thanks

  • Use evdre to query data from a SQL View

    Hi all
I believe that it is possible to use evdre to query data from a SQL View. If this is possible then how does one go about setting it up in the evdre options (assuming that the view has already been created)?
    Regards,
    Byron

Byron,  perhaps this is no longer supported, it might be worth opening up a case at service.sap.com on this.  However, I did find the following on Page 11 of the "Usages and Considerations of EVDRE" pdf file.  This doc is imbedded in the helpfile for BPC 7 SP5 (which was released in August of 2009, well after note 1315011 was last updated.
It looks like you are limited to one custom view per application, since you have to name the view in a parameter at the APPLICATION level.  Go into BPC Administration, login to the application related to the custom view, choose "Set Application Parameters" and enter the name of the view to the Application Parameter called "EVDRE_QUERYVIEWNAME"  If it is not listed, go ahead and create it at the bottom of the Application parameter screen.
Also:  I interpreted the following info from Page 10 of the same doc:
In your EVDRE, set the following options:
    QueryEngine: MANUAL
QueryType:  enter either NEXJ  OR TUPLE  see below:
NEXJ  - Use two-dimensional queries using the nonemptycrossjoin function
TUPLE  - Use two-dimensional queries using tuples"
And I'm assuming you'd enter a Y for the following two parameters:
    QueryViewName
"..to enforce the query engine to use a used-defined SQL view of the fact tables, when trying to read the values using SQL queries. This option is typically used in conjunction with the SQLOnly option (see below). "
    Option SQLOnly
"..to enforce the query engine to only execute SQL queries, when reading data. This can be achieved using this option."
