Is it possible to mirror only one display/space/desktop?

I've searched everywhere for an answer, but I just need to know if I'm "googling" the wrong combination of phrases (or if what I'm asking isn't possible).
My set-up is simple. Macbook pro connected to a projector via VGA. I've created another desktop (i.e. added a "space"), dubbed "Desktop 2. Is there a way that I can have my Desktop 2 constantly being mirrored and routed to the projector, while I still work within Desktop 1?
For clarification, here's the scenario: I'm a teacher, and I want the student's "warm-up" to be showing on the projector screen from my computer's Desktop 2. While that's happening, I want to be able to be working on things like taking attendance on Desktop 1 without the students seeing (they'd still see Desktop 2's warm-up).

That would definitely work, but I failed to mention that I'd like to be able to avoid having to turn my head to look back/to the side towards the projector screen while using my computer (cursor, keyboard, etc.). In other words, I'd like to mirror that second display so that what I'm seeing on "Desktop 2" is the same thing that's happening on the projector screen. I know it sounds silly, but I'm a teacher who doesn't like to divert my attention away from the students in front of me (you'd be amazed at what can happen in 3-5 seconds....).

Is it possible to have only one line per item in InfoView document list?

Hi,
my customer is complaining about InfoView (Document list) wasting too much screen estate. For each list item (report, folder etc.) InfoView displays two lines, one for the name and one for the description. Is it possible to configure InfoView to display one line only, leaving out the description?

Possible to encrypt only ONE email folder?

I would really love some help with this; I've been banging my head against the wall trying to achieve something that is seemingly so simple and basic.
We want to use an Email app that will allow us to encrypt only ONE email folder. Access to the rest of the email should be open to all users of the computer, just the one folder needs to be encrypted or password protected. Apparently this is not possible in Outlook, because in Outlook for Mac all of the folders are now integrated into one database and so cannot be encrypted individually as they can on PC.
Does anyone have any suggestions of how to achieve this? I am considering using Mac's Mail, but can't find Mail file structure on my Lion machine to see if I can access the individual mailboxes separately. Does anyone know where to find Mail's folder structure? I looked in the Library but found nothing for Mail, as it used to be in previous OSs.
Am open to third party software work arounds, other email clients, whatever. I would really appreciate any suggestions!

It's located in your user Library folder which is now normally hidden in Lion.
In the Finder hold down the option key to reveal the Library folder and select Go>Library>Mail and you find the Mail files.

Is it possible to update only one java file in my application bundles without re-deployment?

i have a Application.java file in my application-bundles.jar and it is running.
I need to add a new method in Application.java file alone while the instance is running.
I know we can change .jsp file through CRX-DE lite, but looking for .java files.
is it possible or can some one suggest an idea on this?

Is it possible to download only ONE MONTH of a calendar into iCal

I have downloaded an ocean tides calendar for a trip. I only need the data for certain dates, but I have about 8 entries per day for the whole year. I know I can turn the ocean tides calendar on or off, but I would prefer limiting the number of days the information was actually downloaded, so as to take less storage on my iPhone.
Hey, this would be a good option to have anyway - use data from date x to date y for year z.

In Numbers you can copy a sheet and paste it into a new document. However, any formulas will not link back to the original document. You must "fix" the values. Copy a table, then
(Numbers 2) Paste Values.
(Numbers 3) Paste Formula Results.
Another way is to copy a table and paste it into a word processing document.
No matter what spreadsheet app, there is no way around this. Either "fix" the values, or send the source data.

Is it possible to upgrade only one program from a suite?

For our company I need to make a plan for upgrading all systems to the same Indesign version. Two computers are on CS3, and two on CS5.
We have for all programs the Standard Suite. As we mostly work with Indesign, and the prices are such (in the Netherlands) that the full
upgrade will be above budget at this time. I already discovered that it is not possible to upgrade individual parts from a suite...
so that leaves us a little in a tight spot. What are our possibilities? The best way would be to purchase two 'old' CS 5 suites, as 5.5. is not
really needed.
I do think that a complete upgrade from CS5 to 5.5 is not justified, as you get identical Photoshop and Illustrator versions, and Acrobat X
is (as discovered after some trial runs) inferior to Acrobat 9.
There is currently a promotion on Adobe Netherlands, but that still leaves us to about 2000 euros... for 4 upgrades,
and at this moment this is just too much.
But come what may, next year the same song will be sung, and prices will not getting lower... ;(

Another issue that we only have two Intel-macs (we have two work-sites, so we have one in each) and the other macs are G5...
Our work consists mainly of getting PDF files and checking these for CTP. At my work-site we create more files or change them.
At the current crisis time our management is very very cautious to invest in new hardware and software. But I have warned them that the different and older versions will create more problems, and come what may; they will have to upgrade sooner or later.

Only one display resolution option for monitor

I just installed a new SSD in my computer, and then installed SL onto the drive. I have an Asus monitor, and Display Preferences on the SL install on the older HD gave me a variety of screen resolutions to choose from. But on the SSD install I only have one option (1280x800). What do I need to do to get a wider range of resolution options (including one that will look right with this monitor)? Thanks.

Rotating the page contents is completely different than rotating a page.
Using the A4 format, a landscape page may display a rectangle whose width is 297 mm, height is 210 mm.
A rotated object in a portrait page is restricted to a width of 210 mm.
On these two screenshots, the text boxes in page 2 are containing the same piece of text.
Compare the true landscape one to the the portrait one rotated of 90°
or
compare the true portrait one to the the landscape one rotated of 90°.
They are completely different.
This is why I will continue to write that we can't use two pages orientation in a single document !

2 Spider diagrams, only one displayed in Crystal Reports Viewer 2008

I have two Spider diagrams in the report. One shows values for this and another for previous year. The second diagram is placed on top of the first. The diagram below has white background and the diagram above has transparent background.
Everything works as it should in the Crystal Reports Developer. But Crystal Reports Viewer shows the "transparent" diagram only, that is on the top.
Has anyone experienced such before? Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

I often work with preview to read scientific text using preview. I often do accentuations in different colors to carve out argumentation, facts etc. But the accentuations of all colors are shown on the left bar (and all my additional notes. It would be very helpfull for me only to the one of the five colors available to create are clear view of arguments, facts, pro vs. contra etc.
Is there any function available?

The SUBSTR then takes from that position + 1 and the rest of the string.

Loadmovie issue, only one displays

hello flash users,
i am new to as3 and am having some issues getting movie clips to load via loadmovie. I created two .swf files, both are same size but on different timelines. I simply want to add each to a new movie, one as background and one as overlay, and let each play repeatedly. I can get one of them to load at a time by removing the actionscript for the other layer, but I have not been able to get both to display at the same time, one on top of the other. I put the actionscript on the layers where I want to load the .swf...
here is the actionscript for the background layer: (name: xbkg)

here is the code for the overlay layer: (name: x)

As I stated, if I erase either of these and leave the other the same, it displays the one perfectly.
I have a feeling it has something to do with assigning the var, but I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated before I throw my computer into the street.

can swf file handle transparency? i had the layers in flash such that the layer on top contains the swf with mostly transparent features and the layer on the bottom is the 'background' movie. i find it strange that when i have both movies loading i see nothing at all. just a plain white screen. it seems like i should at the least see the movie on top without transparently seeing the movie beneath. i believe what you are referring to is some sort of z-index value, but currently i am not seeing any movie to know which movie flash is placing 'on top of' the other movie.

Conky on only one desktop/workspace. is it possible?

Hi Everyone,
Just playing around with conky today. I am wondering if it is possible to have conky appear on only one of the desktops/workspaces. This is for openbox but don't think it would matter. I have four desktops/workspaces and only want it on desktop1. I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
