Is it possible to move documents to folder based on metadata by workflow?

We have a document library, which have several folders. We need a process so that documents are stored to the right place based on metadatas. Is this possible? Any better method for this?
1. User uploads a document and defines it as a "personnel" document in the metadata field.
2. Workflow(or another method) moves the document automatically under Folder "Personnel".

Hi,
There is no OOB way to achieve this.
For more information, please check this thread:

Hope this helps
Thanks!

• Is it possible for me to move my movies and tv folder to a second hard drive on my computer to free up space on my main hard drive?

The main hard drive on my laptop is close to full, and it's the movies and tv folders of my itunes that is taking up pretty much all the space. I was just wondering if it were possible to move just that folder onto a second hard drive my laptop has and still be able to view the videos on itunes. Also, is it possible to tell itunes where to download future vidoes?

You can move the entire iTunes Media folder to another drive.
This Apple document will walk you through it -> iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder
If you just grab the movies folder and drag it to the external drive, iTunes won't know where the movies are.

• Move the cache folder.

Hello,
I used to move firefox cache folder to my secondary (350 MB) ssd drive. However since a few firefox versions back the way I did it (using about:config and finding cache parent directory ) doesn't work anymore. And by doesn't work I mean there is no setting like that.
The question is: is it possible to move firefox cache folder? If so - how can I do it?
Thanks in advance,
Tomasz.

Use the Google cache in case of problems accessing the mozillaZine knowledge base (prefix links with cache:)
Note that this is a hidden pref that doesn't show by default on the about:config page and needs to be created as a new String pref as posted above.

• Goods movement document based on stock determination

All,
I am trying to create goods movement document using BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE based on production order for movement type '261'. Before to that we have to use the function module BF_STOCK_DETERMINATION to pick the stock from appropriate storage location( for example: if order quantity is 3; then quantity 2 will be picked from
Un-restricted stock and 1 qty will be picked from consignment stock). What happens is when it gets into MB_CREATE_GOODS_ISSUE_ITEM inside the BAPI, at the routine "MM07MMFF0_FUSSZEILE_WA_PRUEFEN" there is a routine called "FORM WERK_PRUEFEN(sapfm07m) when it gets into this routine the values in the internal table"T158"
losses its visiblity. so i get an error "document type" missing, when the function module"FI_DOCUMENT_TYPE_CHECK"
is called as part of the routine.
But if i call the BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE without calling BF_STOCK_DETERMINATION material document is get created.
If any one worked on this please help me i tried for more than week but i couldn't solve it. I really highly appreciate you help.
With regards,
Shiva.

Called in two different program and it worked. In the first program i call "BF_STOCK_DETERMINATION" and export the values to memory and then i call the second porgram using "submit...and return"; import the values and called
"BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE". Material document is created.
Regards,
Shiva.

• How do I move Documents folder?

I am trying to free space on my old Macbook Pro. My friend created a partition where I am moving most of my files to, including my pictures, downloads and Dropbox.
I would like to move my Documents folder too as there is plenty of space remaining in the partition.
Is there a simple way to do this? A drag and drop simply copies the files but I want to move the default location if possible.
Many thanks

Will the issue you have both raised affect my computer if I move the Documents Folder?
I don't think so. AFAICT, Office 2008 has no problems with symbolic links under SL. Regarding the MUD folder, if you quit all Office apps and move it to <~/Library/Preferences>, it should stay there. See this hint
<http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20060228051625893>
If this were my machine, I shouldn't try to move a subfolder of Home -- either move it all, or store my documents in a different folder from <~/Documents> (you can put a symlink to this folder in Documents; if you give the link a name beginning with a blank space, it will always be listed first in Open or Save dialogues). But if disk space constraints don't allow you to do this, and you have to move Documents, I don't see any other solution than the one suggested by Matt Clifton.

• Is it possible that a document (in this case an Appleworks or Movie Magic Screenwriter) can be lost forever, but it's contents somehow remain as other file types elsewhere? I have an old hard drive and I need to locate the contents of these files.

I have a 20 gig hard drive from a 2001 iBook. When my iBook crashed back in '04, there was a screenplay on there that was not saved anywhere else. It has tremendous sentimental value to me, and I would really like to retrieve it. I've ran some data recovery software that's uncovered a gargantuan amount of data, most of it being completely unreadable to me.
Additionally, I have found an AppleWorks file that could be the script, but it is ZERO bytes in size, and Pages won't even open it, saying that it is not a valid AppleWorks file.
So I'm curious...is it possible that the document is lost, but somehow the contents of it are somewhere else on the drive as metadata in other unreadable formats. And if that's the case, how would I go about translating the unreadable data back into something that IS readable?

if the size of this file is really ZERO bytes, either the original file contained an empty data fork and a resource fork which was stored elsewhere (*) or the file is too damaged to retrieve anything. Moreover, as AppleWorks never generates file with empty data fork, at least to my knowledge, ....
Concerning the Movie Magic ScreenWriter files, the application seems to exist for Yosemite http://www.write-bros.com/movie-magic-screenwriter.html ( but it seems "expensive" and I do not know if it accepts to import old files )....
(*) maybe in .TOTO or __MACOSX/.TOTO if the filename is TOTO

• On 10.4.11 Mac Mail I get this: Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unnedded documents or move documents to another volume. I can't open mail.

On 10.4.11 iMac Mac Mail I get this message: "Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume." I can't open mail to do this. I have reinstalled software but no effect. How do I get into Mail to delete?

Found this on the "more like this" Worked like a charm!
With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
Go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index. Move the Envelope Index file to the Desktop.
Launch Mail and you will be prompted to import mailboxes. Select OK and allow the import process to complete.
After confirming all mailboxes were successfully imported and available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder and old Envelope Index file from the Desktop and this should resolve the problem.

• Can't move document from one folder to another

In the previous incarnation of Pages, right when it first developed Folders (a long overdue development), I was able to easily move a document from one folder to another on my MacBook, as well as my iPad.
Now, whenever I grab a document and try to drag and drop it into a new folder to move it, it won't let.
Did Apple actually remove this functionality from Pages?

Didn't have the Yosemite MBA powered up, so verified this on Mavericks with Pages v5.2.2. Since Apple has essentially frozen the Pages v5 codebase, figured this would also work on Yosemite.
Any application (e.g. TextEdit) that takes advantage of this titlebar feature can move documents in this manner.
In the Finder, you can move a document from one location to another by depressing the command key while dragging the file.
In Pages v5.2.2, with the document chooser open, I can use the preceding sentence move technique to move a file from an open folder into the Pages document chooser and it will automatically switch the Pages document chooser to inside that external folder — without launching the document. But, the command+drag feature does not work to move a document visible in the Pages v5.2.2 document chooser to another Finder location, or even into a folder visible within the document chooser.

• Should the admin/user folder and all of its sub folders be moved to the hdd or just parts of it? (eg. picture, movies, documents) What is the best way to go about doing this. Also should a 2t hdd be partitioned.

iMac with 256ssd and 2t hdd. Should the admin/user folder and all of its sub folders be moved to the hdd or just parts of it? (eg. picture, movies, documents) What is the best way to go about doing this. Also should a 2t hdd be partitioned.

Yes, you can move your user directories to the HD and keep your OSX and Applications on the SSD drive.
Whether you partition your HD or not depends on how much data you have and how you propose to use your HD.
Are you planning to use your iMac as a Time Machine backup volume? If so, partition it off.
Do you have huge data files, eg video, music, photos?
How much of your 2tb drive will be "free" once it is loaded with all your data?
A little more information is required before the optimal configuration can be recommended for your use.

• Is it possible to move Multiple playlists into a Folder at once?

I have hundreds upon hundreds of playlists dating back years. As a non forward thinker I've created most of the in the 'root' of the Music Library.
I'm attempting to organize into Playlist Folders & the one at a time drag n drop is a little tedious. Any way to select/move multiple playlists at once?
Thanks in advance!

You can't select multiple playlists. It should be possible to move them into or between playlist folders by way of a script, but I suspect that is just exchanging one laborious task for another.

• Move a large folder into another folder without the need of a time machine backup?

I have a large folder (FolderX) about 40GB and i was wondering if it is possible to move the folder into another folder, but also move it in my time machine backup so it won't see the need to backup, because it will cost me a extra 40GB of storage while the folder is allready on the backup HD.
So to give a picture:
Current situation:
Macintosh HD > Users > Username > Documents > FolderX
Wanted move:
Macintosh HD > Users > Username > Documents > Work > FolderX
Is this possible?

Did you copy the TM files, or move them? If you moved them, the repository is destroyed. Erase the volume and start over.

• How do I move the /Users folder to another disk

I have a shiny new MacPro, dual proc, with four, one TB hard drives in it, running OS X Server on Mountain Lion. The first disk is the startup drive, the other three are simply empty, partitioned drives.
I am to be the sysadmin for this machine (and a half dozen Macbook Pros) for my organization. I don't want user data to exist on the startup disk on this machine. Right now, the only user that exists is my sysadmin account. I want the three non-startup hard disks to hold the user data. I think that what I want to do is map the /Users folder to one (or all) of the other three hard disks, and get that data off of the startup disk.
How do I change the location of the /Users folder?
Assuming this is possible, or desirable, the next question would be about RAID. I have not created any RAID arrays using disk manager yet (this Mac Pro does not have a RAID card).
Should I first create a concatenated RAID set from the three additional disks? I see no advantage to striped or mirrored sets, I will have a HUGE external drive for TimeMachine, and disk access speed is just fine. But, I think I'd want drives 2, 3, and 4 to act as one big drive. I think the concatenated RAID set is the answer to that.
Thank you,
Jess

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4337
http://chris.pirillo.com/how-to-move-the-home-folder-in-os-x-and-why/
I would only use TimeMachine as an add'l, not primary, or only method for backups.

With drives of 2, 3 or 4TB now why use three and the one time I used Apple's concatenate, no I didn't like the way it made use of drives. So I would either stripe or mirror, and maybe not even using Apple Disk Utility.

• Is it possible to move my existing cell phone numb...

I am planning on getting my cell phone number ported to Skype? Is this possible?
I am in the United States. Also, can I port it back to a cell phone provider later?

while logged into the admin account, move the entire iTunes folder from <MacintoshHD>/users/<whatevername>/music to a public (shared) folder on your Mac, then log out.
log into the standard user account and move the iTunes folder from the public folder to <MacintoshHD>/users/<whatevername>/music and replace the iTunes folder existing there.
