Is it possible to move margins in Pages 5 outward as well as inward?

When writing in Pages, I generally prefer to use the Layout View. I am trying to recreate a document produced in Word. I understand and can easily move the margins inwards on the document, but I can’t seem to move them outward. By that, I mean moving the margin on the left-hand side further left and the right-hand margin further right. Is this not possible in Pages 5.1?
(I’m trying to learn Pages 5, not Pages ’09 or ’08.)

No.
You can adjust the whole document however and inset from that for the parts you do not want further out.

You can import the pdf as an image but it is not editable.
If you are after the text, open it in Preview and copy the text and paste it wherever you want, or open it in Adobe Acrobat Pro and convert it into a Word .doc.

Hi, I have a new IMAC. Only by touch, my mouse (very sensible) gave me the possibility to move left to right and right to left on my pages word and also to scroll on the vertical way. I am ok with the vertical way, but I don't like the very sensible horizontal way. Do someone know a way to block the vertical move only and keep the move of the horizontal way? The only way I found blocked all the moves.

Je ne vois pas l'utilité du mouvement horizontale (gauche-droite, droite-gauche) et pire encore, par mégarde je fais trop souvent bouger ainsi mon texte et cela m'embête, même me dérange beaucoup. Assning a "position" (to an object) (e.g. in cm from margin of page)

I have a pdf-file (which was created from a MS-word.doc).
On some pages, there is a word and a line (at the top of the page) which I want to copy to all the other pages (and later I want to change the wording slightly, so that there is a different word on each page). I know how to "copy" the object with Tools/Advanced Editing/TouchUpObject and from one page to another, but:
The PROBLEM: I want to have the words on exactly the same place(=position) on every page (e.g. in centimeters from top margin and left margin of the page). So my question: Can I somehow find out the "position" of the object (e.g. in centimeters from margins of page) and then assign this position to the other object(s). Is this possible?

Hi,
I don't think you can focus on static objects (static text, static images).
I think the down and dirty workaround is your best option. Maybe make the button very small (0.01in) and you can always place a static image (icon) over it to mask the button.

Move a complete page/section in a document

Hi!
In the pervious version of pages, it was possible to move complete sections from one position to another. Like you can move slides in keynote. In the new version of pages 5.0 I didn´t find this function.

I have tested it with Pages 4.3 (iWork 09). You can rearrange complete chapter direct in the small window on the right side. I have done a screenshot from the Pages version 4.3.

1. Can I create new item using personalization and refer to the item in the another region (for example there are 2 regions in my page R1 and R2, R1 has fields a,b,c and R2 has salary,empno,deptno , so can I create a field FFF in R1 and refer to deptno in R2.Suppose you have a 2 region like R1 & R2.
R1 contains three MessageTextInput Box. (eg a,b,c)
R2 contains three MessageTextInput Box. (eg x,y,z)
Then you can create a new item in any region & its will only impact your UI. (i.e. It will be displayed under the region where you have created it.)
2. if answer to above question is yes, then if user changes the value in deptno, will this get updated in the apps.The data in the new field won't update the automatically unless & untill, you attach EO based VO to the newly created item.

Thanks. I understand what's happening now. It's not possible to move the pages of a print-at-home book, because the program is designed to allow you to print each page individually. If you're adventurous, though, here's a trick you can use to preview the pages side by side: Set your region to United States, which will enable the ship-to-home projects.
Note that changing the region requires you to restart the program, so if you've started a project, be sure to save it first. Next, click the Globe button and select United States from the region list.
Next steps:
If you had started a photo book pages project, click the Open button to open it.
Click the Full Catalog button.
Click the Ship-To-Home tab and select one of the ship-to-home books with the same shape (for example, landscape).
Click the Apply Design button to copy your design to the ship-to-home book.
Edit as desired.
Click the Catalog button.
Copy your design back to a print-at-home "photo book pages" project.
Print.
Remember to set your region back to Ireland when you're done.

Is it possible to save documents in pages as .docx?

Hi have just installed the app "pages" on my ipad. In combination with WebDav nav I can change Word documents on my ipad and synchronize to my laptop.
On my laptop I use Microsoft Office 2010, documents are saved as .docx. Is it possible to save documents in pages with extension .docx (I can only see .doc opttion for Word).

The answer is not "no". The best answer is probably DropBox. You install DropBox on your phone and on your computer. You save/copy the documents you want to keep in DropBox and on your phone you can open them. Better still, DropBox for iPhone and iPad permits you to "start" the file, which makes a copy and keeps it directly on your device (instead of downloading each time).
You can put PDFs, Microsoft Word Docs, Excel Spreadsheets, iWork documents, images, movies, HTML, plain text, etc. and view them on your phone and take them with you. Not only that, but you can also access them from any computer using a web browser (in case you lose your phone). I do this with my travel docs all the time,
The other answer is that the iBooks app permits you to load PDFs into it through iTunes. Take your PDF and drag it into the the iTunes window to add it to the Books library in iTunes. Then, connect your iPad, select which books you want to sync (in this case, the "Books" are your PDF documents), and sync. Ta-da -- your files in iBooks. It should be noted that DropBox permits you to copy PDF documents into iBooks too (and images into the Photos app).

My recollection is that you would need to right click on the program executable file after installation and choose properties, then the compatibility tab. Possible to move boot display to different DVI port? (GTX780)

I doubt this is possible, but just in case : is it possible to force boot screens to a different port on the video card?
The MSI GTX780 has two DVI ports - one DVI-I (which includes analog display) and DVI-D (which does not). The DVI-I port displays the boot screen, BIOS, and anything that shows before Windows is fully loaded.
I currently have two monitors. My primary monitor can connect via DVI, and since it is a 120HZ monitor, it currently uses a dual link cable. The secondary monitor is older and cannot connect via DVI, so I use a DVI-I-to-VGA adapter and a standard VGA cable for that display. Unfortunately, this means that the secondary monitor shows boot/BIOS/etc.
Is it possible to move the boot display to the DVI-D port on the card?
Please note that this is not a big issue - having the secondary monitor show boot info is a minor annoyance at worst. The secondary monitor also has HDMI-in, so I can buy a cable and use that, and then move the primary monitor to the DVI-I port. I do want to avoid spending more money, but mostly, I want to see if it is possible to force the boot screens to another port. This seems like it might be a very interesting way to learn about the video card (and VBIOS, if changing that is necessary to do this).

Is it possible to move files from corrupted sectors hard drive to a replacement one?

My 2011 macbook pro was recently diagnosed with bad sectors. I am looking to get a replacement hard drive, probably a 750 or 1 tb Seagate SATA. Do you think that is sufficient? I do not play games or do anything memory intensive. The most I do is watch a lot of movies.
Also, is it possible to move files from a corrupted sectors hard drive to the replacement? If so, how would I go about doing this?
Also, for the operating system, it is probably wrong, and can't check since my Mac pro won't get past half way on the start up loading screen.

Try a sector copy with CCC and enable using checksum file copy to insure integrity.
Then Data Rescue 4 - try demo before buying
Do a full erase of a drive before reusing.
Invest in SoftRAID.com going forward as it "looks for" weak sectors, alerts.
Also Google around but SMART Utility has been mentioned as an excellent program/utility -
When a drive has used any of its spare blocks from when it ships is #1 indicator of being time to replace.
And of course always have multiple backup sets, methods and know how to use and restore from. Even do a practice set. I would not use just TimeMachine for instance.
And for some, only a mirror array (minimum two but really consider three drive mirror, with stripe reads to improve performance) can allow pulling one, add a new member and still have a two drive mirror.
Cloud storage for backup. With OneDrive and Facebook backing up all the photos on all your devices, Macs and PCs as well as tablets and phones, you can have 100-200GB quite easily. And there is Google Drive and Amazon as well as others.
A new data drive, a drive to do all the recovery of files that were on the failed drive(s), and probably a clean system drive and use that as you recover and build your system back up.
