Is it possible to only sync certain mailboxes?

I have 15 years of email in my system. At the end of very year I make a folder and archive the past year's post. I do not want to load all that mail to the cloud.
Is there a way of just syncing the inbox, sent and trash folders?

So, if I've understood correctly I would use the iCloud account for a year and then my yearly routine would become to create an archive folder for the year on my mac and move them over. Then I would manually copy the mail box onto each machine so that they all had the archive. The only thing to remember would be that any changes made to an archived year would not be synced automatically.
If that works I could do that: I already do an extensive January cleanout before archiving anyway.

Out of all my purchased songs my iPod will only sync about 1/4 of them. All of my songs were purchased & downloaded within the same day... so their should be no difference in the ones that are syncing and the ones that aren't. Right?

Try playing one of the affected songs for a few seconds in iTunes.
Do you get asked to authorise? If so, and if you do, do the songs transfer next time you sync?

I have an iphone 4, and when I go to drag stuff to sync it to the phone it will only sync certain albums or songs, and not others. Mind you, these bands it will not sync now I have had on the phone in the past so I do not understand whats going on, I've tried redownloading Itunes, and factory setting my phone and none of which have seemed to work if someone can help that would be awesome!

i had the same problem and just figured it out.
plug in your iPhone and click on your phone under Devices in iTunes.
then, at the top, where it says "Summary, Info, Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Photos" click Music
make sure the "Sync Music" box is checked along with "Entire music libary" and apply the changes.
mine wasnt checked and it only had 37 songs in my phone out of 927 that were on my iTunes.

Question about the new Dock - is it possible to only show certain things?

I'm wondering if it is possible to only show the things I want in the dock, like my apps, my stacks, etc, but to NOT show all of my open windows in the dock?
For instance I often have up to ten or more apps running at the same time, and all of the windows for those appear in the right side of the dock, so I end up with a normal dock icon for Itunes, but then another Itunes icon on the far right for that window, I have the main Ical icon and then also another ical icon on the right, etc....
It ends up with all of those "extra" icons on the right making my dock icons so small and hard to read.

If an application has several windows open the application will always show in the Dock.
However, if you click on the icon in the Dock and hold down on the mouse button a menu will appear the allows you to choose Hide.
Hide removes any open windows, for that application, from view, either on the desktop or in the Dock.
You can also utilize Spaces which allows you to create separate workspace configurations with only certain windows open in each.

Only Syncing Certain Albums from Artists

Ok, pretty new to this ipod/itunes lark. I have iTunes v9 and an ipod touch 3rd gen (8Gb) I have all my music in my itunes library however I only want to sync certain albums, for example if I have 10 Albums from U2, how do I tell it to only sync 2 albums i.e. War and Boy rather than syncing the whole U2 library including songs which are in compilations. This seems really annoying that it fills my 8Gb up with the whole collection of albums from certain artists even though I would only like to listen (and sync) certain albums. cheers frogboy

in iTunes:
Edit>Preferences>Devices.
check the box beneath the window that says
"prevent iPods from synching automatically;"
this way, when you have your ipod connected, you can drag the music you want into it.

Itunes only syncing certain photos to ipad 2 I have saved in iphoto

I have uploaded photos from my camera to iphoto. I then edited them deleted some and cropped and adjusted the rest and put them into a folder. I then wanted to put this folder containg the pictures onto my ipad 2. I connected my ipad and ticked the box containing the pictures and expected the folder to sync but all I get out of 220 photos are approx 40 that itunes is syncing across. I have created different folders but itunes is still only syncing about 40 pictures. I have restored the ipad etc, and itunes will not sync folders that I am making containing photos I want on my ipad. I then decided to save a hard copy to disc to find that iphoto has duplicated all the pictures. For example all the photos I edited (220), I now have 600+ saved to disc!!!!!!!!!! What the **** is going on. Why can't I simply drag and drop pictures I want onto the ipad????? What am I doing wrong that itunes and my ipad cannot sync photos properly??? HELP!!!!

You can try deleting the iPod Photo Cache Folder and then sync again. Read this support article for instructions.

How do I apply a Mail rule to only a certain mailbox?

I want to put certain messages into a mailbox and have them "expire" (be deleted) in 30 days.
For example, I want to put all my "email receipts" in a folder after I complete the transaction and have Mail automatically delete them after 30 days. That way, if I ever need them (for returns or whatever [which I would do in 30 days]) I have them, but after a point (when I don't need them) Mail would delete them for me.
As a side note, is it possible to create a rule that meets ALL of some criteria and ANY of other criteria?

There's a header field X-Envelope-to: and the mechanism to edit header list - select Delivered-To lets me do this. Previously I had tried to select Header, and that did not work:-( I solved my own problem!

Is it possible to only sync music?

So as we all know iTunes is very difficult to sync these days. iCloud is severely unpredictable, deletes music, deletes album art etc and doubles other mp3s for no reason requiring you to delete all your music and resync everything every couple months. Worst of all syncing 1 new album before I leave for work in the morning is a painful 45 min task with unpredictable results, usually resulting in 45min of app syncing photo syncing blah blah blah than forgets to synch the one album leaving me with ghosted songs instead. I just hope there's a new iTunes soon that's not a disaster like the current one.
In the meantime has anyone found a way to manage their music without these major problems? Should I turn off iCloud? Maybe sync to a computer with the magical and wondrous Snow Leopard installed?? All I want is to be able to add 1 or 2 albums in less than 30min without having to double check to see if it behaved and transferred everything ok.

With my iPhone 5s and starting with iOS 7 -- that's exactly where the problems start.

Sync Certain Content From A Different User Account On Same Mac?

With the iPad, is it possible to sync certain content from a different user account on the same Mac? Is this possible?
Imagine a MacBook with 2 user accounts on it. User A has an iPad and wants to sync their own Music to it. However, User A wants User B's iPhoto library synced to their iPad. User A also wants User B's Calendars synced to their iPad.

Alternatively, is it possible to only sync one-way, from a MacBook to an iPad? What I mean is, is it possible to sync your iCal data from a MacBook to an iPad, but prevent any changes on the iPad getting synced back into the MacBook?

How to only sync music

My hard drive has run out of space (only 80GB) and so I was wondering if it was possible to only sync music and so I can leave the videos on my iPod and store them on my bigger portable hard drive (350GB - which isn't always plugged into my PC)
Is this possible?

disconnect the ipod.
open itunes, look at the left hand column.
Should be a column of check boxes.
note they are all checked
Uncheck movies, podcast, and whatever else you do not want to copy to the ipod.
reconnect the ipod.
when you get the ipod screen, in the general settings, select the "sync checked items only" box.
next sync will remove anything that you have unchecked.
(note by default, anything you add to the library is automatically checked.)

I have a problem with ovi suite 2.1.1.1... when syncing photos it automatically syncs videos as well. This is basically OK, but the problem is: not only my own recorded videos are synced, but also video podcasts which I have downloaded on my phone, and any other videos I might have put on my sd-card.
This is sometimes a few hundred megabytes, so it always takes ages to synchronize my photos...
Is there a way to make Ovi Suite sync only pictures, not videos? Or is it possible to only sync videos that were recorded on the phone itself, not downloaded podcasts etc.?
If not then please consider this as a feature request!!

If i am not wrong Nokia Photos has this kind of options 4 few phones(Please note this is not applicable 2 all handsets ) While connecting those few phones, Nokia photos gives the option 2 select if user wants 2 sync only SMS/audia files/photos or videos etc.,

Is it possible to have rules that become active only in certain circumstances, for example, if the RDD of the sales order is today or tomorrow?
I have limited knowledge on the topic; so your help will be greatly appreciated.
This is my scenario:
A sales order is raised in plant A for Material X, if there isn't enought inventory of Mat. X, there will be a rule to look for inventory in plant B. If stock is found in plant B; then an ATP Tree structure is created, which is then turned into a purch req; and then into an STO from Plant B to Plant A. Then the shipment is sent to the customer from Plant A. This is good, however, this is not what we want for sales orders that are placed with too much time in advance; because by the time the sales order needs to be delivered, the inventory may be available in Plant A, and those requirements are meaningless at that point. Any ideas of how to handle this? Thanks in advance!

If the requirement is placed upon B, how is it possible to later have excess inventory in A?
If the sales order was placed let's say 7 weeks in advance; during that time the whse could have received inventory from the plant.
This is mainly why I need to find a way for the rule to do the substitution and create the requirement in B, only if RDD is very close to today's date.
Is there a reason why wouldn't ship directly from B to the customer? (instead of first moving the stock to A)
Yes there is, the requirement of the business is that any sales order raised in A, must be shipped from A; but stock must be found in alternate locations to satisfy the order. If stock is not found, then the order is cut and shipped.
Is A a plant, depot, or both?
Is B a plant, depot, or both?
How is 'B' normally supplied?
Are you using MLATP? CTP?
Both are depots; and are supplied from different manufacturing plants across the country.

Two directional sync (to/from) of history, bookmarks, etc on two computers and only unidirectional sync (from only, not to) on a third? I have sync set up on my work computer and I like knowing my work history when at home or on my laptop, but I don't want all of my home history being sent to the work computer. Is there a way to have a two directional sync between 2 computers but only send history from, but not to, a third computer?
As it stands now, if someone at work would get on my history it would look like I have been looking up flights and buying things on the internet at work, but I only do that at home.

Mobile Me no longer exists and iCloud requires 10.7.5 or more, upgrade your version of OS X.
