Thanks a lot , I'am a complete newbie in this , I started by downloading the sdk, I unzipped it ,thought I'd try a sample named Basic Plugin, opened the solution file from the samples folder,, I built the solution,build succeeded but I'am not able to find the api file to copy it to the adobe acrobat plugin folder.Is this the right way to do this?

Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. You can only have one book open on-screen at a time, and you will need to go back to the bookshelf to select and re-open the second book. If you have the second book from a different store so that it's in a different app (e.g. an Amazon purchase in the Kindle app) then you could switch between then two apps/books via the iPad's taskbar - but you won't be able to have both apps open on screen at the same time.

In Safari how do I open a .PDF file in Preview instead of Adobe Reader?

When a pdf file opens on my computer in Safari, it opens with Adobe Reader (v. 7.0.8). Until recently, I could right-click on my mouse and and a drop-down menu would appear with the option to open the pdf file in Preview instead of Adobe. That option has now disappeared from the drop-down menu. Can anyone explain how to get back the menu option to open the pdf file in Preview? Thanks. David

This is what I would like to as well. I often have a lot of pdf files I need to open and then save to my hard drive. When I click on a pdf file on a website Safari opens it and then I need to right click in the document to open it with Adobe. How can I get it to open in Adobe the first time without having to right click after it opens in Safari?

Opening .PDF's in IE7 with Adobe Reader 9.0 & Adobe Writer 5.0

I am running a XP Pro environment on a HP D530 machine. I have installed on this PC Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Writer 5.0. I have defaulted through the folder options all .PDF and adobe related files to open in 9.0 and done the normal 'open with' option aswell. Problem is on this internet ticker link i have/use, all the .PDF's posted on there always default to 5.0 and produce a error saying i need to upgrade to a higher version. If i leave 9.0 open then it will default to them without any issue. Is there any regkeys or files in 5.0 or 9.0 i can change so i can set all files to 9.0 Reader?
I have been told the ticker is only used to link to the files and does not have any code that dictates how the .PDF's open.
Any adive or ideas would be of great help! :-)

With Acrobat 7 you can only send out Browser Based Review, (which is replaced by shared reviews in version 9).
The reviewers will need to open the PDF inside a browser, and have access to the location of the PDF to be reviewed.

Is it possible to open synchronized pdf with other reader than iBooks?

Hi all,
I just bought and ipod and it seems to be nice little thingy I have troubles with understanding whole logic behind how apps and files work.
In iTunes I added few pdfs and synchronized them to my ipod. I got a warning that I have not installed iBooks and won't be able to read those files so I downloaded iBooks app and synchronized it as well. all good and dandy but to be honest iBooks is not very good with pdfs at least not for me so I downloaded a few more readers like adobe for example thinking they will allow me to have better reading experience.
and here we have a surprise: my pdfs are not accessible from other reader than iBooks, I can't browse filesystem to get to them, iBooks have no "Open in..." option (which would work in case of adobe reader). I have no previous experience with apple products so maybe I am missing something basic and just showing up my ignorance but if somebody could hint me how can I make my synchronized pdfs accessible with some other app not only with iBooks I would be really grateful.

Latest Adobe Reader version has a feature wherein it can open the PDF from the page where you last used it.

The book i downloaded shows up blank in digital editions

i have a sony reader prs 600 and i recently downloaded a book frome ebooks.com. I am new at this so I apologize if I am missing something obvious but I can't figure out why the book I bought shows up blank except for the front page which is a picture. After that there is 816 blank pages. It shows up this way on both reader library and digital editions. Does anyone know what I have to do to fix this? thank you.

Please follow the below steps and check:
1) Right click on the book in library that you want to copy from your computer. Click on the "Show File in Explorer".
2) Copy/Paste the book from this location to your SD card.
3) On your tablet open the book from your SD card in your ereader.
You need to make sure that you authorize your ereader with the same ID with which you authorized your computer. In case you do not remember which ID you used for authorizing your Digital Edition, click Help-> Authorization Information.

FDF file not opening in IE 8 with Adobe reader 9 or Adobe pro 9

I have a fdf file that is working fine with IE 7 when I am using adode reader 9 or pro. But the same fdf is not working fine if my browser is IE 8 . The target element for the fdf is a file that is there in our web server. The same FDF is also working fine in IE 8 if the version is reader used is 8 or lower
can any one help me to fix this.

I will add a "Me too" onto this thread. I have to use a third-party site which sends an FDF document (over Internet Explorer), however Adobe Reader doesn't load inside this browser window, but rather launches itself *outside* of this browser window (in standalone mode, more or less)...
In fact, when Adobe Reader is loading outside the browser window the only thing I have here is the original PDF document where the data should be added on. The PDF file is actually a form but I have it displayed "blank", that is without any user-provided data. On Internet Explorer's point of view, I only have the "PDF File" icon in the center of my window, but nothing else (all white)
Here are the specs:
Toshiba Satellite laptop
Windows Vista Home Premium, all patched
Latest Adobe Reader available when typing this reply (9.3)
I have:
Uninstalled, reinstalled Adobe Reader, but nothing better happens (Adobe Reader just pops out of the browser to display the original PDF file)
Upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 (as I was running IE7 on this PC), also added the URL of the intranet site in question in my "trusted sites" in IESpeaking of Internet Explorer, I also did a "reset to default values" many times over this process
Double-checked the values in the Windows Registry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT to see that both FDF and PDFs are gonna be executed on Adobe Reader (I have no other PDF readers or writers installed anyway)
Double-checked that the Activex control that is needed to be run so Adobe Reader can start is actually whitelisted in Microsoft's IE registry, more on this here
Ensured that Edit, Preferences, Internet, "Display in the browser" is in fact checked. I did the extra mile here: I unchecked, pressed OK, left Adobe Reader then came back to enable it again just in case something doesnt get written accordingly to those settings in the UI.
Now i'm out of clues
For what its worth, only internet explorer gives me this problem, Firefox and Chrome just opens Adobe Reader inside the browser with the FDF provided.

Manually download the files to your computer (right-click on the url). When the file is downloaded to your computer do you get the same message when you try to open in Reader through the File->Open menu? What about when you open the file in Mac's Preview application?

"Google" is a search engine (website) and NOT (repeat: NOT) a PDF viewer. It can't and won't open PDFs in any real or imaginable way.
Firefox added their own proprietary PDF viewer with version 20 - they're on 21 now. I'll be the first to admit "it sucks". You CAN'T fill in PDF forms with it, and you can't email them from the page like with Opera, Safari or Chrome (which use the reader plug-in still).
Unfortunately, the ONLY option you have now that they've added it and killed the ability for the Reader plug-in to work with Firefox, is Tools>Options>Applications - select Portable Document Format(PDF) and choose "Use Adobe Reader (Default)". What that will do is FORCE Firefox to download the PDF instead of opening it in their terrible PDF viewer in the browser window.
Or... use one of the other browsers I mentioned. They're all free.

Open with External Editor Profile sRGB instead of Adobe RGB

I know in the export presets I can adjust what profile aperture will use. But what about when I open with External Editor. I like doing this because I can open my image in PhotoShop make my adjustments then save it and have aperture manage my files. But when I do this it opens the file with Adobe RGB, my lab and I sometimes want Adobe RGB. How can I change this without exporting the file and reimporting the file. Thanks.

Aperture uses a color space larger than AdobeRGB and sRGB. When an image is sent to Photoshop is converted to a 16bit AdobeRGB PSD file in order to get the largest color space to work with.
sRGB would be necessary when exporting to the web and/or send it to a printer that requieres that color profile, and that's why you have it in the export presets.

As far as I know, it isn't.
You can run both ADE2.0 and ADE 1.7.2 at the same time, with different books open.
Also Sony Reader (free download intended for Sony eReader users, but works even without) will let you have a third book open.

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0. Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

I am using a laptop, which didn't have a mouse, just a mouse pad, so I added a corded mouse via a USB port, and it does the same thing.

Reimaged OS and can't open my book now

After waiting for more than 2 months, I finally downloaded a book I had been dying to read from my local library. While downloading, I chose not to register with adobe id as I did not know the advantages of doing that. Then my machine had a virus and so I had to reimage my computer. I downloaded the Digital edition once again and this time I registered for an Adobe id also. Now I am unable to open the book and get the error "Error getting license. License server communication problem: E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER". I wanted to return the book to the library and get back on the hold queue again but I cannot see the book in my library shelf in the Digital Editions either to be able to return it. What do I do?? Please help.

There are a couple of things I see here.
First, registering your copy of ADE with Adobe is necessary to assure that
the software will work with libraries. Now that you've done so, ADE's ready
to go.....
Next, the error getting license message can refer to the digital rights
management (DRM) software that is used by the library. Some other people
have figured this out, and here is a blog entry that may help:

There are several different software packages that are used by libraries,
but all have a common function that will expire a loaned ebook after a
certain time. That's great because you don't have to pay fines for overdue
books. And it can mean that, if you can't access your download, it will
expire without you having to do anything to it. I've read some posts here
that say it may be difficult to check out the same ebook again, because the
electronic license information gets messed up, but I don't have any
experience with it.
