I work in a video department and recently got new Mac Pros leaving us with some spare G4's. We're looking into having one of the G4s replace the old iMac in the studio and connect it to the 50" LG Plasma to display HD Graphics/Video. Currently we have an older iMac connected to it through a scan converter displaying at it's highest resolution which is low, so the image isnt good on the plasma.
I've looked into 2 cards for the G4, the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro and 9800 Pro, so that I could then output from DVI to HDMI. They both support 1920x1080 (9600 @ 150hz and the 9800 @ 120hz for analog monitors).
Does the analog refresh rate differ from a plasma refresh rate? The LG accepts 1920x1080 60hz at RGB/HDMI-PC, 1920x1080 75hz RGB-PC, and 1920x1080 24-60hz HDMI-DTV.

I am trying to figure out how to output several clips from a multitrack session, at the same time.
A session like this:
Is it possible to output 5 files right now?
I can select each one (or even multiple) and use File > Export > Multitrack Mixdown > Selected Clips to do one at a time only.
I'm hoping for a way to give each clip (or group of clips) a predefined filename, by perhaps using markers or something like that, which would then allow me to faster "automate" the exporting of each section into a different sound file.
This ability would be really helpful when using a single multitrack session to generate multiple sounds and a change to globally applied effects is made and all sounds now need to be updated.
Any ideas?

They are, yes, but I'm also working with multitrack sessions using clips made from various different sound files.

So, this sort of thing isn't possible in multitrack mode then?
If not, it sounds I'll have to "mix down" my multitrack session into a single file and set up the markers in Waveform Edit view.
That's an extra step I'd have to do, and after editing the multitrack session, surely some markers . . . oh wait, no . . . every time I output the new mix down file from the multitrack I'd need to redo all the markers. Drat . . .
Honestly, I am very new to Audition, but I'm about to plow into it, big-time, and I'm hoping for a nice non-destructive and fast workflow that'll enable me to output sets of sounds from the same multitrack session.
But, it seems like this functionality is currently missing.

Is it possible to output at 50Hz to a TV from my Macbook Pro? Under display setting my minimum option is 60Hz.

I am trying to connect my Macbook Pro to an old analog TV. I have a digital to analog signal converter and am sending signal via VGA to a composit video cable, everything seems to work fine. The TV is detected by the laptop, I can see the picture flickering (although the background photo is visible), so I believe eveything is working apart from the TV is 50Hz, and under display settings the minimum I can select is 60Hz. Is it possible to output at 50Hz from my Macbook and if so, how?

I'm editing video and want to see the broadcast results on the fly (ie monitor and tv side by side, same image onscreen). Is it possible to output to div monitor and s-video at the same time? Maybe thru a splitter cable. I'm concerned about resolution issues.

This is not possible with a mini.

Outputting data to a GPRS enabled phone from a PC

Does anyone know is it possible to output data to a mobile phone (Nokia 7250i) which has access to GPRS network? The computer also has a LAN card, is it to set the output to ignore the LAN and instead connect to the GPRS network on a USB port, the output data which is to be received on a given IP address?

I'll describe this process as if you'd be not familiar with any of this 4 steps (I don't really know your skills in this area):
1. to have any hosting in Internet (it may be your own PC);
In any searching machine you can find a number of sites that provide free or fee support of your own file area on its computer. For example search "free hosting CGI PHP". There is an important difference between free and not free hosting (see 4.)
Another way - to buy your own domain name (AnilMD.com :) and put this site on your own computer (in this case midlet should recognize is your PC online for getiing info - professional hosting usually always is on-line). But in this way you should become a little bit sysadmin - you'll need to install some programs for support your site on your PC. (I use Denver - it's perfect (!) product of Russian programmists that has not analogues in a world: single tool instead of vairous & complicated; no variables to set - everything done automatically (Apache users know what it means :); full size - 2Mb! because of containing basic data only, if needed you can update it); support Apache server, CGI, PHP 4.0 and MySQL!; absolutely ease to use - just start one icon to start Apache, and another to finish; does'nt requires installing - all data is in one folder and can be moved in any another just by copying; it's absolutely free of cost; it almost not requires knowing russian. I every day use this product and like it very much! Cool guys, usefull utility :)
2. this hosting should provide CGI and PHP
CGI and PHP 4.0 are necessary, but usually hosters provide MySQL - it's very usefull.
3. to send info not right to mobile phone, but to this server
There is two main way to save data on server - in files or in a database. In any case you should create script on PHP which extract this data and send it on midlet request.
4. wait untill midlet request this info (using timer maybe or by manual request)
If you use free hosting on every info request you'll be sent a ad before (about 1-3 Kb) and then your own info! So think is it normally to your midlet to loose time and money.
Depending on purposes of getting data make not large code for getting this info. If your mobile phone support MIDP 2.0 it can be done by separate programme and stored in shared data-store.

yeah if you get one which is sim unlocked if it's not you can only use hte hongkong carriers sim and have to roam your local network which is expensive
and another issue is warrenty is not international so if you have a problem with your phone you need to hand it in in hongkong

First of all, GarageBand iOS allows for only one tempo and there is no Merge Song feature.
What you can do.
Switch between the songs and copy-paste the individual Tracks. You can also Merge Tracks if you run into the 8 Track limitation.

FaceTime was by demand of the UAE government blocked in the iPad's hardware. As stedman said, there's no way you can activate FaceTime now.

Might need a little more information here. Are you trying to obtain screen captures? If all you're wanting to do is take stills from your videos then the answer is yes, you can but you'll have to transfer your videos from your iPhone to your computer first (unless you can find an APP on the iTunes store to help you to do it on your iPhone).
There are a few ways to do it. The first is that you can use the button on your keyboard called "Prt Scr" or "Print Screen". This takes a shot of your screen which you can then "paste" into a program like paint, or photoshop or even Word to then save as a jpeg image. When using this option a good trick is to use "Alt" + "Prt Scr" to only capture the current window rather than your entire desktop.

Also, some DVD programs have this function in built in them so it's a good idea to explore what's already installed on your computer.
