Is it possible to Pan a bus in audition?

Basically that. I see that I can pan a send, or a track, but what would be nice is if I could send all of my tracks to one bus, and pan them all from there, in 5.1 or stereo.

I'm looking for an answer to this also. I bothers me when responders, instead of answering, ask "I don't know why you'd want to do this". Here's my reason:
I have two audio sources, of two separate speaks on two separate lav mics. Each mic picks up its respective speaker well, and also picks up audio from the other speaker, which sounds bad and slightly out of sync. I want the final output to be mono, so that both speakers are equally loud on both channels, so I send them to a mono Bus first. So what I want to do is to raise the volume of one track, while simultaneously lowering the volume of the other track. This is very annoying, especially trying to make sure that they don't cross in a why that doesn't drop out the room tone.
SO, what I want to do it to take these two tracks, send them to a stereo Bus, and pan that stereo track back and forth to choose the desired audio, and then send that Bus to a second Mono Bus before going to the Master.
I'm no audio expert, so perhaps there is a better way to do this, but rest assured, there are reasons people want to do things.

  • Is it possible to save separate bus settings for each patch?

Is it possible to save separate bus settings for each patch
From reading the manual I don’t think this is possible – but would be grateful for any help around this.
    2 examples:
    1. I play around with the delay settings on a bus and I then change patch for the next tune and e.g the feedback on the delay is wrong for the new track.
    2. Most of my patches are 2 layered sounds – which I have sent to a bus to put effects on – But I can’t save those effects settings on that bus on a patch by patch basis – If I change the settings on the effects on the bus all the patches are effected.
Hopefully Mainstage 3 when it emerges will address this issue – so you have the choice. Unless there is something I am missing.
    Any thoughts gratefully accepted.

  • Is it possible to execute dual open about Audition CS6?

is it possible to execute dual open about Audition CS6?
i want to use seperately audio driver.
    1. Computer reference audio driver.
    2. Bluetooth audio driver.
it is operation same time in My computer. I think that support this option(?) at Cool edit

It may work but you will have to try it and see. Are you on a PC or a Mac. you may be able to use two different audio devices with only one copy of Audition open. It will be easier on a Mac since you can make an aggregate device from several different audio interfaces. On a PC it will probably be harder but you may be able to do it if you use ASIO4All as your audio driver and then select the two sets of audio device from within ASIO4All's setup software.

  • Possible to pan and scan HD video with your home editing software?? (HD - SD size)

Hi, using Premiere Elements 7 on WinXp and also on Win 7.
I wonder if it's possible for us to do a pan and scan type process with our HD video? I ask because someone gave me some footage from the weekend where the composition was way too wide and large and I'd like to save the video, composed better, an SD quality.
Given the pixel resolution it should be possible. I know that's how they convert 35mm film to fit TV, but when it comes to video, can Premiere do it?
I can crop video in premiere but it will save the video at the same resolution, but all pixelized and looking wonky. How would I save 1080i video pan and scanned to 720 (p) or regular SD (640) which will still look decent on Youtube.
Here is an example (note, I also squeezed the footage to 97% horizontally first)
    Can anyone give a tutorial?
    Thanks

If it's hi-def video, you can import the video into a project set up for standard DV.
Before you use Get Media to get the video, go to Edit/Preferences and uncheck Scale to Frame Size.
When you place your video on the timeline, it will be much larger than the Monitor, and you will only see a portion of it. You should be able to use Crop and Scale to get just what you need and still have many pixels to spare. (And don't forget to press Enter to render the video before you judge its quality.)
Note that, depending on what format of video your original footage is in, you may need to work with the interlacing maybe reverse the field dominance. So I'd do a short test run and output to see how it looks before I committed to a full-length project.

  • No Spectral Pan/Phase Display In Audition CS5.5 ?

Hello, I can't find how to show waveform in these two modes known from Audition 3.0, are they gone for god?

Well, however you got this software (it's not released yet and so what you have thus can't be the release version), you are correct: spectral pan and phase is not in AA-CS5.5.  You can read that here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/895/cpsid_89588.html
However, I wouldn't go so far as to say they're "gone for god" (unless you consider Adobe corporate, who sets the timetables for release, some kind of deity) based on Durin's several comments at other recent threads.  If this is important to you, then make sure you take the survey or send in comments at the links posted in his threads.

  • What is the bus for?

Being a newbie to Logic 8 still, I'm trying to understand of the bus. What exactly is its purpose? I think it's used as the output for a collection of tracks, is this correct?

One of the many differences to a bus over a group is the way you use effects. Say you've got 5 tracks that make up a drumkit, and you want to put a nice reverb on the kit. You you can put that effect on a bus, then route your 5 drum tracks to that bus, and you don't need a bunch of instances of the same effect taking up resources on your CPU. And since it's one effect being used for several tracks, you can quickly tweak settings for the effect and not have to do it for a bunch of effect instances like you would if you put an individual effect on every track.
There are also tons of ways to use buses artistically too. For example, you can have a dry guitar on a track, pan that to the left, then use the 'Sends' on the channel strip of the guitar to send some of the signal to a bus, put a crazy effect on that bus and pan the bus to the right, and then you've got dry signal left and wet signal right.
Once you understand the basics of routing and signal flow, you'll find this opens up new worlds. Once you grasp these concepts, you'll find them to be very concrete, not abstract at all.
    Good Luck!

  • Stereo bus format conversion

Hi there - In transferring a logic song from a G5 Power Mac (2.5GHz dual) using a DVD and loading it into a MacBook Pro (2GHz Intel dual, when opening up the song, the following message appears: "0 stereo audio tracks and / or 2 stereo bus objects have been converted into a new format". The result is that previously assigned stereo bus send controls are now mono - it is not possible to select stereo bus sends on a track in the environment window whether it is mono or stereo - as well, the previously defined stereo bus object is also mono.
Has anyone else experienced this problem - some help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanx,
    Rob.

maybe the target system doesn't have "Universal Trackmode" enabled.
To enable it choose "Audio->Audio hardware & drivers..." and tick the box.
    now open the song again.
    cheers
    Martin

  • Pan & Zoom with letter box

Is it possible to Pan & Zoom outside the picture area on a slideshow? For example, I have a still shot that was taken sideways so that it is tall and skinny (9x16 instead of 16x9). I want to pan out to show the whole picture with black letterboxes on the side. I am unable to get this to work. Any advice?
       Thanks, Alan
    PE/PSE 10

Instead of using the Pan & Zoom animation Preset, use Keyframing, of the Fixed Effect>Motion>Scale (Zoom), and Motion>Position (Pan).
This is an example of a portrait oriented Still Image, in the landscape Video Frame. This is very similar to what you want. It was done in PrPro, but other than the differences in the GUI, between programs, will be just what you wish to do. In my case, I used an abstract background, behind the portrait Still Image, where you will want just the black bars of a pillar box. Also, I kept the Scale to about the Title Safe Area, where you will be Scaling to the full vertical dimension of the Frame.
Good luck, and hope that helps,
    Hunt
PS - I like the use of an abstact backgroud, in lieu of the black bars, but that is just me.

  • Panning issues; LP7

As soon as I send audio to a buss object, I lose panning position. Why?, and how to correct this issue.
    Boe

and the output from the bus? is that stereo?
what sort of tests have you done to see if you can reectify or define the problem?
eg, have you tried assigning a different bus? have you tried panning the bus? have you analyzed the signal with one of the plug-in meters? how are you outputting the signal;? is it to a desk or is it direct out to your monitors? have tried this in a different song?
can you give us a bit of a run down of what you have tried to do to trouble-shoot this, because what you are describing is not normal.

  • Azure Service Bus Relay & Impersonation

    Hi All,
I am currently investigating the use of Azure Service Bus Relay for a project, testing has gone well so far and I have a service and client communicating via the service bus relay.
Currently the client and server are able to take part in two way communication, whereby the client invokes a method and a response is sent back to the client, the problem I have is that I now
want the service to impersonate the user calling the methods, but only for some of the methods available in the service.  Is this possible over a service bus relay connection? if so, how can this be achieved.
I have been able to get this working when calling the service over a non-service bus binding (using basic authentication over SSL), but this fails when binding to the service bus relay, I believe because the HTTP context is lost between the client and
server when communicating via the intermediary (in this case the service bus)
Thanks in advance for the advice.
    Chris

  • Bus to Audio track or Track to Track

    Hi,
I'm an ex-protooks user and I want to know how it's possible to records a bus on an audio track.
BMy routing is: Track1 (my song with effect)
    go to bus 1
and I want that this "bus1" go to "track2" to record my song with effect !
Or if its possible to do Track 1 -> track 2 -> general
    Hope you will understand,
I'm here if you have question ^^

Clearly Runaway has correctly identified external routing as the only way to do this; you can monitor an effect, but you can't record this feed directly. This appears to be what you originally wanted, when you said:
    >and I want that this "bus1" go to "track2" to record my song with effect!
And it's not an oversight at all, but quite deliberate. In technical terms, this means that the greatest amount of resources are available within your PC for actual recording - so that means you can potentially record more tracks simultaneously.
But there is another more principled reason for this as well - and that is simply that recording
anything with applied effects is bad practice, simply because you cannot, certainly with things like reverb, remove them once recorded - if you add too much, you're stuck with it. So the basic rule is always to record 'flat and dry'. Adding effects to the monitoring channel, so that singers can hear a bit of reverb in their foldback, is clearly often desirable though, so the facility to do this is included. But the only way to record the effected feed is to route a physical output back to a spare input, and record that.

  • Overloading FW bus or problematic device?

    Hi guys,
I've been having some issues with my Firewire bus, or perhaps the device connected, and it's been causing a number of Kernel panics.
I generally run a pretty efficient and well looked after ship, so I'm not sure why I'm having troubles.
Basically, I think I MIGHT have pinned it down to one of my FireWire HD's which I recently bought, but I'm not sure if it's possibly overloading the firewire bus or if there's a problem with the device itself.
My main setup is in my signature, but here is how the firewire devices are running:
    FW800 port on rear:
    1 x G-Tech G Drive 500GB, running via FW800
    DaisyChaining into --> 1 x G-Tech G Drive Mini 320GB, running via FW800
    FW400 port on rear:
    1 x RME Fireface 400 (audio Interface)
    FW800 port on front:
    1 x G-Tech G Drive Mini 250GB, running via FW800
Yes, I like the G Drives, they're great!
Anyway, the device in question is the G Drive 320GB, which is daisychaining off the larger drive.
Initially, I had the third drive also running in daisychain from the rear FW800 port, thus running 3 drives off the same bus, but I changed it to a different one thinking it might make a difference.  However, no joy.
I'm only getting problems when I switch on the 320GB drive though, all the others don't seem to cause too much of a problem. And, as far as I'm aware, you can safely run a few drives off the same bus anyway.
    Any thoughts?!

Thank you very much for the suggestion.  The USB device is a serial to usb adapter for a stepper motor controller (the motor has a separate power supply).  I've attached the specs for the power supply.  Swapping the power supply would probably be an easier switch than trying another computer because of all of the setup we have involved in this one (Labview and DAQmx).  If this looks woefully inadequate, can you suggest some specs for our setup?  Thank you again

  • Can I Pan a single midi note

Is it possible to pan a single midi note in the matrix viewer in Logic? When I edit my midi data in the matrix I sometimes want to pan certain notes left or right but I can't figure out how to do it? This would especially helpful when editing drum loops so I can pan hi hat or certain sounds to certain positions.

to add to another post on this thread. if you are using the exs24 multi-channel insert you can assign different sound as aux channel inputs. this will allow you to pan your cymbals as you wish.
you can also use a multi-channel ultrabeat to do the same. next to the pan button for the instrument in ultrabeat you will see the word main. click on that and then you can assign an output for that specific sample.
from there you can go to an aux channel and assign the input of the aux to the ultrabeat or exs multi-channel output, and put effects, pans, volume and such.
    very usefull.

  • Burning errors from slower ATA bus?

I've been digitizing old videotapes and have gotten into a comfortable routine. The process is iMovie to iDVD to .img file to .cdr file to disk. After burning I store the .cdr files on my #3 hard drive.
The other day I tried burning a DVD from the .cdr file on that #3 hard drive, which is on the slower ATA 66 bus, and encountered repeated failures during the verification phase.
Burning the same file from the regular HD on the ATA 100 bus was successful.
Is it possible that the slower bus speed is the culprit? In the past that HD has given me some other problems, but the files copy from HD to HD just fine.

alphaniner wrote:Don't worry about the Radeon error for now. The other errors related to your drive bus are probably the problem. Normally I'd recommend checking cables and connections. But I've never seen a "SError:" line with so many 'details' and you have such errors on two ports, so it may be more complicated than that. Have you searched for info on Linux support of the controller?
    Thanks for the response.
I searched for the things you wrote. By "drive bus" and "controller" do you mean the bus driver and device controller from this diagram?

Additionally, I found the following forum post while searching: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2038227
Does that mean I should try reconnecting my drives to different ports on my motherboard?

  • Editing sound in PP CS5 using trial of Audition CS5.5 not possible??

I have PremierPro CS5 and downloaded a trial of Audition CS 5.5. The option "Edit in Audition" in PP CS5 is greyed out, so I cannot test the sound editing interaction between the two PP and Audition. What is wrong? Is it not possible to use PP CS5 with Audition CS5.5, is it not possible in the trial version of Audition, or am I doing something else wrong...?
Greatful for your time and help!
    Håkan

The  connection only works if the Premiere version number is the same as, or higher than, the Audition version.  So, in my system PPro CS5.5 to Audition 3 is OK, but PPro CS5 to Audition 5.5 is not, as you have found.
