  • How do I export my garage band song onto my iTunes?

So I created a remix on garage band on my ipad and would like to have it in my music on my ipad. How do I do that? I can use my laptop if need be and it's on my iPad mini. Please help quickly.

Share the finished GarageBand song to iTunes and sync the iPad with your mac. Then you can sync the song from iTunes on your Mac to the Music.app on the iPad. See this help page:  http://help.apple.com/garageband/ipad/2.0/index.html#chs39284d66
Send a GarageBand song to iTunes
Tap My Songs, then tap Select.
Tap the song you want to send, then tap the Action button .
    Tap Share Song via iTunes.
    Do one of the following:
To send the song as a GarageBand song, tap GarageBand.
To send the song as an audio file, tap iTunes, then tap Share.
After you tap the iTunes icon, you can choose the quality of the file GarageBand sends to iTunes. You can also add artist, composer, and title information that appears in iTunes.
Sync your iPad with your computer. In iTunes, the exported song appears in the Documents list in the File Sharing area when GarageBand is selected.
    Do one of the following:
Drag the song from the GarageBand Documents list to the Finder.
Click Save As, navigate to the location where you want to save the song, then click Save.
You can open the GarageBand song in GarageBand on your Mac, or play the audio file in iTunes (or any compatible audio application) on your computer. GarageBand songs cannot be opened on a Windows computer.
You could also mail the song to your mac,
Send a GarageBand song via email
Tap My Songs, then tap the Action button .
    Tap Share Song via Mail.
Enter the artist, composer, and album name if you wish, then tap Email. An email message appears, with the song as an attachment in AAC format.
Tap the To, Cc/Bcc, and Subject fields to edit the recipients and the subject of the email. To choose recipients from your Address Book, tap the Add Recipient button.
Tap the body of the email to edit the message text.
When the email is ready, tap Send in the upper-right corner to send it.You can’t send the email until you add at least one recipient.

  • Garage Band song import

I am trying to import a song from my ipad mini. I got the garage band song onto my desktop. When I try to open it, the computer is making me save it as... whether I do that or not, I keep getting an error message that the garageband needs to be updated to open that file. But whenever I check, there are no updates that need to be downloaded. I moved them over though itunes. All my other song files are fine, it is just one that is doing that.

Try posting on the Garage Band forum.

  • All my Garage Band songs are gone in the app after I uploaded to iCloud.

All my Garage Band songs are gone in the app after I uploaded to iCloud. Where can I retrieve the songs? iCloud doesn't show any Garage Band folder backup. Help please!!!

Is your GarageBand version up to date? If not, upgrade to the latest version. also, you coud try to reset GarageBand to the factory settings. That brought my iCloud projects back.
Open the "Settings" app on your iPad and scroll down to the applications. Open the GarageBand settings and set "Reset GarageBand" to on.
BTW: If there are network problems it sometimes may take a very long time, before the song is downloaded from the cloud again. That is why I never upload the original to iCloud - I duplicate the song and share only a copy to iCloud. Once I am sure the upload has been successful and the cloud version is working I delete the original.

I just transferred my garage band songs from my iphone to my mac. Why won't garage band open them? I just upgraded to ilife '11. Still won't work. Garage Band cannot open files in the "data" format.. Any Ideas?

Are you trying to transfer the GarageBand projects or the rendered audio files? What version of GarageBand do you have on your iPhone?
I do not think you can share your GarageBand projects from your iPhone to GarageBand on your Mac, unless you have iCloud, afaik, only the audio files.
How did you transfer the song?
To share from an IOS device the Projects or audio files, see:  Share GarageBand songs

  • HOW DO I FORMAT GARAGE BAND SONGS TO MP3 THROUGH ITUNES?

I am having the same problem and I did the same steps as Vasso. But my songs are from Garage Band... How do you format the songs from Garage band so that they can be burned as MP3 CD's from ITunes? I went to preference in Itunes then to advance then to burning and I set it for MP3 Cd and when I tried to burn the selected songs on my playlist I was prompted that ONLY FILES THAT ARE ALREADY MP3 FORMAT MAY BE BURNED TO AN MP3 CD.

You posted in a Windows forum, so its probably why you had your question overlooked. I found this article for you that seems to answer that question. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93585
Good Luck, and try the Mac iTunes forum next time for a faster answer.

  • Help! Size of garage band song too big when exported

I'm trying to share songs I've created with Garage band. For some reason they are way too large (40 - 60MB) to attach to an email and send. They shouldn't be that big, they are just average sized songs. Thats the size that they each came out when I exported it from garage band to itunes. A friend recomended a program Audacity to reduce their size (or bitrate?) but I haven't a clue as to how to use it to make my songs normal size. Is there some simple way to reduce their size so that I can send them to people?
Also, the second part of my question is I would like the songs to be in a format readable not only by Mac users but by PC users as well.
As you can see I know very little about this stuff but I really need to send these songs out, any bit of help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou, Marc.

We get posts like this one here fairly often, and I can't understand it.
Go look at your CD collection. Every 3-minute song on any CD takes up 30 MB of file space. Every 5-minute song takes up 50MB of file space.
It's the same with GarageBand, because GarageBand records and mixes music to 16-bit, 44.1KHz two-channel stereo, just like on a CD. One minute of stereo music takes up approximately 10 MB.
Complaining that a five minute song in GarageBand takes up 50 MB is like complaining that a foot has twelve inches in it, or that a kilogram contains 1000 grams.
Use iTunes to burn your GarageBand songs to a CD in the regular audio CD format. Then mail the CD to your friends. They'll be able to listen to it on a Windows PC or a regular CD player at home or in their car.
You can use iTunes to convert your recording into an MP3 that is as small as you want it, but the smaller the end result, the poorer the audio quality.

  • Its says my phone has synced with another iTunes account on the same computer? I Want my garage band songs to go from my phone back to my laptop but they won't

So my Mac got wiped, obviously all my iTunes bought songs and stuff are rested but in lost most of my Garage band Productions, now the ones that had luckily gone to my phone won't transfer to ituens?

No, it is just saying it is a different iTunes library. If your computer was wiped then the original one is gone and the phone does not recognize the library there.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a wiped or new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.  Your Garageband creations are obviously not iTunes Store purchases and should be restored from the backup you make for just this kind of situation.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • After changing Itunes account information, how do I get Garage Band songs back from Apple TV 1st Gen to my MacBook?

I made a few songs on Garage Band and shared them with my Apple TV, 1st generation.  Then, my Itunes account got hacked and I had to change my Itunes ID and password.  Now, those songs are only on the Apple TV drive, but do not show up on my Itunes music list.  (I deleted them from the Garage Band application, apparently.)  Is there some way to get them back onto my MacBook.  I want to use them in an Imovie.  Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, you would need to remove the hard drive from the Apple TV and connect it to your Mac using an appropriate cradle in order to remove those files.

  • I created garage band songs and they syched gray instead of black and won't play on touch

I write songs and made a garage band version via audacity.  When I synched the songs to my touch from iTunes, they were 'gray' in color, not black, as normal and will not play on the touch.  The only difference between these and previous songs is the use of garage band for the music.  Help!!!

Do they play in iTunes? If so:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • How to I access a garage band song

My student has created a song in garage band that we would like to use in our iMovie.  I had the student share his song with iTunes, but now can't find the song in my iTunes?

I assume your student shared his song from GarageBand to iTunes and then put it into a playlist and enabled the sharing of this playlist in the iTunes Preferences -> Sharing Tab?
Then - in your iTunes - you need to enable the display of "Shared Libraries" in the "Show" part of the "general" iTunes preferences. You should see your studen's iTunes Library in the "Shared" section of your Library inspector.

  • HT201368 I got an error message when trying to import a Garage Band song into Logic Express 9.

Logic Express 9.1.8 (which I have) claims to be the most recent update.

YOu have not provided any system info, not told us what version of AE you use, your audio setting, what specifics in the audio file and a million other things. See how it may not be possible for anyone to tell you anything beyond "Your computter sucks!" ???

  • Can't open a garage band song in logic express trial

I've been thinking about getting logic express, but I wanted to try the trail version first. When I try to open any of my garageband songs in logic it says, "Damaged Song or not a logic express song! Damaged songs might create problems and crashes!" After that box it says, "Rad Error! This is not a Logic Express song!" I would appreciate any advice on how I might fix this problem.

I'm not using a different user account than previously, and haven't moved anything. That said, I was able to solve the problem. Here's what I did:
    1. Right-click and select GET INFO
    2. In the INFO window, open the SHARING & PERMISSIONS panel at the bottom
    3. In the lower right corner, click the LOCK to change it to UNLOCKED
    4. In the pop-up PASSWORD window, enter your MAC password. The LOCK changes to UNLOCKED.
    5. Click the PLUS SIGN lower left, choose the appropriate Person or User/Group (me) and click SELECT
    6. The name gets added to the bottom of the GET INFO window, but with “Read only” permission
    7. Click the “Read Only” selection and change to “Read & Write”
PARTIAL SUCCESS:  The PROHIBIT badge is gone from the file, and instead of showing ZERO bytes, it now shows XXMB — for example, 32MB.
HOWEVER, when I tried to open the file, I got the message, “Your file has no content”.
TOTAL SUCCESS:  I discovered that I had to go back a level, click on the FOLDER that contained my prohibited songs, and follow the same instructions 1-7 above. Now, at last, I can access my files in the new GarageBand!
Thanks to Hang Time and Leonie for responding so quickly to my plea for help!

  • Taking garage band songs and saving as a waiv file to mix down in studio

I'm trying to take my songs and break each track( sound ) down and saving it as a waiv file or something to take to the studio and mix it down, or if any one knows if storm 3.0 can, or any other program.
    e-mac g4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

You can solo each track and do an export to iTunes - then all your tracks are individual AIFF files.
To convert them to WAV, change iTunes' import prefs to WAV, select your exports and select "convert selection to WAV".
However, I think that most studio applications accept AIFF files.
And of course you can mix your stuff in GB, too.
