Is it possible to prevent slide advancement before video finishes?

Hi all,
I've imported a couple of .flv videos and placed them on separate slides.
The user would watch these videos before reaching a couple of quiz questions. I want to prevent the user from advancing before the video finishes, and, after the video finishes, have the project advance to the next slide, automatically. So, essentially the user would sit back, put their feet up, and be able to watch several videos without having to touch the computer. They would also be unable to "cheat" and reach the quiz questions before the video is done.
Is there a way to do this? I'm using a trial version of Captivate 5. I'm thinking I'll have to make custom navigation buttons.

I figured it out. I used this blog to get rid of the default navigation:

And then on the video slides I changed the properties to get rid of the skin on the flv video, displayed it for the rest of the slide, and paused the slide until the end of the video.
Important to note: it didn't work if I added my own navigation buttons in there. The video would reach the end and then it would not advance.

Problem with slide advancing after video.

Hello,
I'll start by mentioning I'm a Captivate rookie and am just learning. I'm currently using Captivate 5.
I'm using video within captivate and would like to give the user playback control of the video(s) itself. Initally I was using "Slide Video" as the playback bars were not a concern and the request came at the last minute. I believe I need to switch to inserting "FLV or F4V" to gain this control but here is my issue.
When I publish I can control the video just fine, but lets say the video is 5 minutes and I skip 3 minutes in the middle (so I only see 2 minutes of the 5), I still have to wait when the video ends for the remaining time to countdown before the slide advances to the next. How do I get the slide to advance as soon as the video is done, regardless of it's duration?
I'm sure it's easy but it's drivin' me bonkers!!

If you take a look at the properties panel, more specifically, the Timing area, there is an option you might wish to try enabling.

You might try to enable this setting and see if it helps. However, I hold the opinion that a bug exists with Captivate and this feature. In my classroom training I've noticed the option doesn't seem to allow the slide to progress. In other words, don't be surprised if it doesn't work for you. And if it doesn't, please Please PLEASE consider filing a bug report so the issue gains priority on the Adobe side for a fix. (Link to the bug reporting form is in my sig)

Slide doesn't advance after video finishes playing

Hi Everyone, I'm having a problem getting my slides to advance to the next slide after the flv/f4v files I inserted are finished playing. I have the slide set to On Exit: go to the next slide and I also have increased my slide duration to be as long as the video. I tried looking up this issue on lynda.com but the only option I found was creating a continue button for the user to click that will advance to the next slide after the video has finished playing but I don't want to have to do this Is the continue button my only option or is there a properties panel setting I am somehow missing? help!!!

Here are the steps that you can follow
- Create a blank project
- Inser the flv video
- Use the same Actions and observe that you are facing the same issue or not
- if on a new blank project it works fine
- Then try to copy all the slides in your original project (in which you are facing issues)
- Create a new project exactly of the same dimension (width and height)
- Paste all the slides and observe the issue is resolved or not
- If not then try to recreate prefernces of Captivate 5
Adobe Captivate 5:
Close Adobe Captivate.
Locate the preference folder:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5 folder
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5 folder
Mac: /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Captivate 5 folder
Rename the preference folder.
Restart Adobe Captivate. A new configuration folder is automatically created.

Control slide advance via video cue points

Hi Folks I would like to have a video clip control the advance of an external slideshow by using cue points set in the video. Idealy I would have 2 swfs (video.swf and slides.swf) embeded in a web page side by side and as the video reaches a certain cuepoints it advances the slides in the slideshow swf. It would also be good to fullscreen either one or the other as required.
Any help appreciated.

The videos do not need to be live streamed and can be prepared with keyframes at the key positions for slide advance
So is it keyframes or cuepoints? I didn`t say sth. of Livestream either.
Streaming means simply the process where a video can already start even if its not already completely loaded. This is consideres not only good but standard practice nowadays.
Embedding videos on the timeline is a bad idea. Using Keyframes in this case is an even worse idea.

Preventing slides auto advancing in Adobe Captivate 8?

Hi guys,
Is there a way to prevent slides from advancing automatically in Adobe Captivate 8? I want the user to have to click a 'next' button to move to the next slide.
The closest I've seen so far is for Captivate 6, and was an ugly workaround of having an invisible button on screen that has a pause on its timer (where the pause is placed right at the end of the slide timeline).

D'oh! Thanks for the help finding it.
I can't seem to move the pause at all; does this mean it always pauses exactly at the end of the slide? If I'm going to use this technique then (in general) I'd like to use it like this:
- short slide length, just long enough for the following to happen:
1. objects transition or move (or other fx) onto the screen.
2. the screen pauses (giving the learner as long as they need to read/complete the screen)
3. the learner has to select the 'next' button to advance
4. the objects on screen transition or move off.
5. the next slide loads automatically, i.e. repeat steps 1-4.

Slide advance acting weird

Not sure if anyone has come across this, but I am running 5.5 and have a fairly standard module (audio, images, text boxes) that is set to auto-advance. When the previous slide ends, the next slide flashes up for a microsecond before it advances as normal. I've tried adding a page transition to mask this, but it just does it during the transition. Anybody got some advice?

The project you sent contains 4 slides. The first three simply have a Continue button on them. They pause and I am able to click anywhere on the slide without the slide advancing.

Slide advance

Hello, I have inserted a PREVIOUS and NEXT button on my training slides. I need the user to click these buttons to advance to the next slide; however, i noticed that they can also just click anywhere on the page to advance to the next slide. The problem is that on some of the slides, i use roll over captions on the interface to describe parts of the interface, if the user clicks the page instead of the roll over captions, the slide advances to the next slide before they get a chance to review all of the roll over captions. Is there anyway to disable the ability to click anywhere on the page and just use the PREVIOUS or NEXT buttons?
Just to review: My question is --- is there a way to disable the ability to click anywhere on a slide/page to advance to the next slide?

If you want post the invoice prior to GR than you should not check the Gr-based invoice in the PO invoice tab then system will allow you to post the invoice.
and later you can post the GR.
until you post the GR you will see the open GR in MB5S tcode.

Is it possible to prevent a user from creating and approving a JV

Is it possible to prevent a user from creating and approving a JV. We have a rule that one user cannot do both. What happens is user#1 creates the JV, then some other user#9 approves the JV. Both user#1 and user#9 need to be able to create a JV and approve someone else's JV.
The transactions in question are...
F-02 General Posting - enter Journal Voucher (create & post)
F-65 Enter General Document - Parking (create)
FBV0 Post or Delete a Parked Document (approval)
Please let me know the details.

Slide advances without selecting the button

Captivate 8.01.242 on a Windows 7 machine publishing as html5 only output
Probably not seeing the forest for the trees, but here's the problem: I have smart shape buttons programmed on the master slides that pause each slide one tenth of a second before the slide ends. The only way the slide should d advance is selecting all three of those buttons, or using the play bar. All other interactions and buttons are added to the individual slides without a pause set. The way this has worked (until now) is the user can click and re-click every button on the screen without the slide advancing. Now, some slides are advancing after an indeterminate number of buttons are selected/re-selected in any order (between three and five clicks for the most part) without any of the master slide buttons or the play bar buttons being selected.
The actions executed are simple "show" or "show/hide" actions, or "play" for web objects - nothing exotic or very advanced - no variables involved. Its a very simple, linear course.
Any ideas?

Unless you deleted the tracks from iTunes on the computer, they should still be on the computer. Match simply provides the matched content or uploads the track if not matched. It doesn't delete your local library.

Graded quiz slides advance without answer

I am trying to create graded quiz questions in Breeze. I want
to force the user to select an answer before the slide will
advance. But all the graded questions I create allow the user to
select "Submit" without first choosing an answer, and the slide
advances.
My survey questions work this way. I want the graded
questions to work the same way so I can provide feedback. Any
suggestions?

In the Quiz Manager, under the first tab "Quizzes" select the
button that states "Edit Quiz Settings" On that first tab there are
two boxes the first one titled "quiz" and has two fields. Look at
the one titled "required" the last option on the drop-down is
"Answer All- ther user must answer every question to continue" That

See advance of videos before purchase them

Hi. At itunes music store I cannot see advance of videos I would probably buy If I were able to see them before. I only heard the voices of such video. As you can hear a short part of the music in a song, is it possible to see a clip of the video you want to buy? Can anyone help?

Yes, it's possible. Do you have QuickTime 7.04 installed? That's required to view any of the video content.

Tdms-files: Is it possible to prevent LabVIEW and DIAdem from creating .tdms_index files?

is it possible to prevent LabVIEW and DIAdem from creating .tdms_index files when opening/creating/editing a .tdms file?
I think I have no benefit from the .tdms_index files because our applications create a lot of little .tdms-files (repeat measurements). With the additional .tdms_index files we have unnecessary memory consumption and it takes longer for Windows to open the containing folder. Also it´s confusing when searching for a certain file.

Hi Baui,
I'm afraid there's a direct way to disable creating .tdms_index file now from LabVIEW and DIAdem. You can use TDMS Advacend API in LabVIEW, which doesn't create any index file, or you can just make some simple programming and delete the .tdms_index file after closing the TDMS file.
This is a request for a long time, we'll consider to add this feature for TDMS in future releases.

Is it possible to prevent a group of users be added into other groups?

We have a admin group named "app admin" which has full privileges to a target OU "ou=apps,ou=services,dc=xxx,dc=com".
And we are looking for solution to prevent members in the admin group putting their own account or group members into the target OU.
Tried the aci with "deny self write", but it only prevents admin user put their own DN into the target OU.
And they still can add their group members into the target OU.
Just wondering is it possible to prevent a group of users be added into the target OU while they still can add/delete/modify normal users into the target OU?
The version of our Directory Server is 6.3.1.
