Is it possible to prevent users from viewing a page in Edit Mode?

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if it is possible to prevent users from accessing a portal page in Edit Mode. Currently, the users do not have access to any links that take them to edit mode, but if they add &_mode=16 to the end, they view the page in edit mode. Granted, they don't have permissions to add or edit content, but I would like to keep them from seeing this.
I am using 9.0.4.1
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Jim

hi jim,
you cannot really configure this in portal. if somebody manually appends &_mode=16 we display the default edit mode, but fully enforce security. this means that the user cannot see anything he is not allowed to see: like pending items, hidden, expired or deleted items. as you said he also cannot add, edit or delete any items.
regards,
christian

  • CE10 how to prevent user from view hostrical instance

    hi,
We are currently using CE10. One of our user used search functionality in enterprise to search for reports start with 'employee' and it came  back with all the crystal reports on the server that  started with employees, even the one the user doesn't have access to.  My greatest concern about this is that users can view historical instance and it is sensitive data.  Does anybody know whether or not this is a bug in CE10?  Is there a patch/fix for this?  Is there any configuration change that I can make to
prevent users from being able search all the reports on the server rather just their own reports?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

    hi,
I have an EVERYONE group with limited access(view object), and EVERYONE group is added to each folder with NO ACCESS.  If I revoke view object(explicitly denied) privilege from EVERYONE group, do I still need to remove EVERYONE group from each folder?  When I'm at folder level in CMC, I see EVERYONE GROUP added, but when I tried to remove the EVERYONE GROUP, the EVERYONE group is not an option for removal.  What am I missing?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Prevent user from view line item details in KSB1 report

    Hi,
how to restricting user from view line item details by double-click on it or highlight an item click on Document?
    Regards,
    Kelvin

    Hi,
    This issue got resolved.
SAP suggested to execute the program "FAGL_CORR_0001" for company code wise.
In ECC 5.00 from support pack 10 onwards two new fields has been added to table FAGLFLEXA.  (earlier we are on support pack 9, recently we applied the latest support pack)
If we can execute the above program FAGL_CORR_0001, the two new fields will filled with relevant data and then we can able to use drill down option.
    This is for your information.

  • Is it possible to prevent users from using the ''Purge'' option from the ''Recover deleted items'' in Office 365?

    Hi,
After speaking with a Microsoft engineer over the phone, I've been told that there is no way to prevent users to go to their OWA and manually Purge specific items from the ''Recover deleted items''. The Microsoft tech told us to place the desired mailboxes
on a litigation-hold and that all data will be recoverable... but only from the time you place the mailbox onto Litigation-Hold and previous items, which doesn't take effect for new-coming emails.
1- From what I understand, any new items coming in the mailbox after the Litigation-Hold is put in place will still be ''purgeable'', right?
2- Is there a way (PowerShell, Security group, etc.) that can prevent a user from using the Purge option?
We are very surprised that there is absolutely no thread that talks about this issue, which in our opinion, is a major legal and security flaw from Office 365. This is a main concern for us to actually go with Office365. For instance, this means that at
any given time, if a user exchanges emails with a competitor, they can manually purge emails sent and receive as soon as it is sent/received, even after Litigation-Hold is in place.
Thank you for your reply and let us know if you have more questions.

    Thank you for the reply.
Is there still a way to prevent users from using the Purge option, like with a Powershell script to disable Purge?

  • Is it possible to prevent users from changing iPad background?

I am currently helping deploy 130 iPads for a school using Apple Configurator. I have set the desired wallpaper and lockscreen text via Apple Configurator, however this can easily be removed if a user decides to change the lockscreen wallpaper. Is there any way to set a restriction that would prevent a user from changing the lockscreen wallpaper? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help in advance!

I heard that with iOS6 MDMs could have the ability to remotely change the wallpaper and lockscreen OTA. So far Airwatch is the only one I've heard of that claims to be able to do it:
    http://www.air-watch.com/company/news-room/press-releases/2012/09/airwatch-offer s-same-day-comprehensive-support-for-apple-ios-6
(scroll down to "New MDM Capabilities")
I hope other MDM's adopt this. It sure would be nice to be able to do this from an MDM.
    Hope this helps!

  • Prevent user from accesing a page, if not logged in.

I have a html page which does a POST to a servlet with userid and password. After the servlet authenticates the information against a db, I store the user object in the session.
    HttpSession session = request.getSession(true);
    session.setAttribute("user", globalUser);
    Then I use
    RequestDispatcher dispatcher = getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher("welcome.jsp");
    dispatcher.forward(request,response);
    to show the welcome page.
    In the Welcome page,
    <jsp:useBean id="user" class="com.sbali.mydb.objects.User" scope="session"/>
    <TABLE BORDER=1 ALIGN="CENTER">
    <TR><TD>First Name</TD>
    <TD><jsp:getProperty name="user" property="firstName"/>
    </TD></TR>
    I display the user info.
The problem is, how do I prevent the user from accessing welcome.jsp directly. If I hit it directly, the server instantiates the bean and now I have a User object with no property set.
I could write a scriptlet, but then I have to put the code to show the properties using out.println() instead of using xml syntax. I want to try and keep the presentation layer separate from the logic.
I am new to JSP, so I am most probably not doing things the right way.
    TIA
    S Bali

    This is what i have:
    authorize.jsp
    String user = (String)session.getValue("globalUser")
    if(user == null)
    response.sendRedirect("login.jsp")
and then in every other jsp file (besides login) I have:
    <%@ include fiile="authorize.jsp" %>
at the top (just have the page tag.

  • In MS Word, it is possible to prevent tables from breaking at page breaks.  So, if a table, when populated with data gets too big for the spae allotted on one page, the table will move in its entirety, to the next page. Can this be done in "Pages"?

I am trying to figure out ow to prevent tables from breaking along a row when there is a page break in "Pages".  This is done in MS Word by going under Table properties under "Rows".   I have a document with small three row tables and I want to keep the tables together and move to the next page in its entirety when there is a page break.  Help!

The table that I don't want to break between rows looks like this, except it fits the width of the page:
    quilt name
    picture of quilt
    source
    Size: XX; Difficulty Level: 3
I inserted a Inline Text box into the document, copied the table inside the text box, then pasted it through the document (which lists quilting projects).  When the table spans a page break, even when in an inline text box, the picture which is in the right hand column splits, as well as the information pertaining to the particular quilt.
Jerry - thank you for your help.  I tried to give you a "solved my problem" rating, but I am adjusting to the Mac slowly after 20+ years on a PC.

  • Sales Order - Prevent user from creating more that one schedule line

    Hello,
Is it possible to prevent users from adding lines (rows) in the schedule line tab of VA01/VA02 ? Our requirement is that one item will have one only schedule line, the quantity cannot be split into different dates.
    Regards,
    Joã

    Hi
There are 2 schedule lines with different dates for a single line item in a sales order because of forward scheduling done by the system
System does backward scheduling first and if it fails then it does forward scheduling and that is why you find 2 different schedule lines
In configuration you can restrict the system to do only backward scheduling and stop after that
I am not infront of SAP now to tell you exactly where is the configuration available
I think it is  Logistics execution--delivery scheduling
But This config is definately available in standard system to avoid 2 or more schedule lines for a single line item in a sales order
But i am not able to understand what is the business logic for such a requirement because i feel it will create a lot of problems
    with this requirement

Untill the Question is clear Answer will not be clear U never mentioned the Quantum of Pages u gng to work in POST....
    > disable commit button but if user have privilege to insert a new record ??
Did u think this statement means something.. A user who has no privilege to commit the data wht is the purpose of giving privilege to add the data?????????
    > if i disable table or form and user try to create new record is new fields will be enabled or will be as previous row.
This too i cant understand?? the user doesnt have access why should he need to create row.. u can disable the Create button too.....
    > by the way is there is any way to catch Sql Statement that will be committed when user press commit .
While user press commit and u gng to call the ApplicationModule Commit so u can have a hold on doDML() method of the corresponding entity else if u gng to insert though a procedure or function
U can restrict the same before u calling the same.......

  • How to prevent users from running PRC: Transaction Import from WebADI form?

    Hi,
We are 12.1.3 and trying to create a workflow to approve Project transactions coming through web ADI before they become effective. To this end, we want to prevent users from running the PRC: Transaction Import from the Web ADI.
I know that if the checkbox Automatically run transaction import is not checked, the program does not run. But we want to hide this checkbox and not allow the possibility that the program could get triggered.
To this end, we updated the BNE_INTEGRATORS_B with source='C'. This allows you to edit the integrator from Desktop Integration Manager.
    UPDATE BNE_INTEGRATORS_B SET SOURCE ='C' WHERE  INTEGRATOR_CODE ='PAXTTRXB'
In the 4th step, where the value for Uploader Parameters is set, we have set boolean value to No. These are the fields on the page:
    Parameter Name: bne:import
    Display Name: Start Transaction Upload
    Data Type: Boolean
    Category: Field
    Default Value: Boolean Flag: No
Description: start Transaction Import Concurrent Request
    Display Options: Displayed: Unchecked
    Display Options: Enabled: Checked
    Display Options: Required: Checked
Prompt Left: Automatically submit Transaction import
    Display Type: Check Box
    Maximun Size: 100
    Display Size:100
Now the checkbox is not appearing for the user to check it, But the program is automatically running when you hit Upload in the WebADI.

    Hi ,
Try removing the PRC: Transaction Import Program from the request group for the responsibility used by customers to submit the WebADI and then check if the program launches.

  • Is there any way to prevent users from ship confirming on a particular date?

    Hello All,
We have a requirement to prevent users from ship confirming on a particular date. This is due to they are performing Annual Physical Inventory.
Is it possible to restrict users performing shipping transactions on this particular date?
I have tried adding exception to the existing Calendar set at org level and there is no customer specific Calendar defined, however it is still allowing me to perform ship confirm.
Please let me know if you have any suggestion on this requirement.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Yes is Possible.
You can add An Exception in Your Shipping Calender.
So when Some one tries to ship an Order on that date Oracle will automatically select Next possible date.
    Thanks

  • How to prevent users from saving and emailing intranet documents externally

Someone in our company needs to upload a pdf to our sharepoint intranet site for internal-only use. How can I prevent users from downloading it and emailing it externally?
I mean, a user could screenshot it I guess, but I need to give management a due diligence answer.

You would need to look into a reverse proxy/firewall that had the ability to block access based on content. This isn't something you can accomplish out of the box with SharePoint (even with AD RMS).

  • How to prevent user from "normal" navigation?

    Hi everyone,
I have a PDF with a lot of pages, which are connect through Links (It's an export from MS Visio).
I now want all the users to keep navigating through the links and prevent accidental navigation through the "normal" way (Arrow-Keys, Mouse-Scroll, etcs...) as much as possible.
For this I have three ideas:
"Force" Fullscreenmode: Here I can prevent from advancing in pages by clickAdvances=false. However I think it's not possible to prevent page changes by mouse-scroll or key-press.
Using Layers: I have read, that it is possible to show/hide layers on demand with js. But I don't know how this can be done. And I would have to change the links to js-function showing the needed layer...
Loading/Deleting Pages: I could load and delete Pages on demand. This is probably slow and i would need two pdf files.
Does anyone knows something that could help me to solve this problem?
    Cheers, Holger.

    1. Not possible (except if the additional method described below is used).
    2. This is possible, but it requires setting up the layers and then a system of buttons and scripts to show/hide them.
    3. Also possible, but much more complicated than using layers.
Another option is to use a script to prevent the user from entering a page, unless its done via a button.
However, all of these methods have their disadvantages and can be very annoying for the users. You should really think if you want to implement this feature...

  • Prevent user from deleting rows from all tables in his own schema

    Hi,
How can I prevent user from deleting rows in all tables in his own schema.
I want the user to not able to delete rows from any existing or new tables that might be added in the future.
The user does not have the "DELETE ANY TABLE" system privilege.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

Nowadays, I'd also avoid triggers (if possible).
Sometimes, when I daydream, I'm rewriting a few applications that I've contributed to as a newbie, and I'm very ashamed of it nowadays.
From what I've experienced, in retrospective, the emphasis on teaching 'Oracle stuff' has been lying far too much on PL/SQL row-by-row oriented processing instead of letting Oracle 'crunch' sets at once.
Most of my debugging hours ended up in discovering one or more database triggers 'doing stuff automagically'.
    Another nice blogpost: http://rwijk.blogspot.com/2007/09/database-triggers-are-evil.html
    Regarding OP's question:
I would just rethink/reconsider this requirement completely.
Correctly implementing privileges and roles seems the best way to go, yes.
    Triggers? Nah...
pre-post-edit, noticed thread got updated just before posting
Don't know what you mean with 'namedropping', but I think it's legitimate to point other readers to interesting Oracle related opinions/articles that do have a technical background and lots of interesting examples.
post dreaded OTN outage edit (from here)
Again: I would just rethink/reconsider this requirement completely.
Both trigger/vpd are being used to hide a design flaw here.

  • Prevent user from changing calendar permission

    Hi team,
How to prevent users from changing calendar permission in outlook. When user open calendar option in Outlook he should either he should able to view the calendar sharing tab or he should not able to make modification in calendar permission by assigning permission
    to others.

    Hi,
Agree with Andy. Exchange has no built-in feature to prevent mailbox owner to modify their calendar permissions. Since they are owners, they can set their calendar permissions.
    Thanks for your understanding.
