Is it possible to recovery lost photos that have been overwritten?

I uploaded some pictures and my camera saw that the folder i was uploading was the same as the one on my desktop so it was starting to overwrite new pictures into the old folder. I stopped it in the very beginning but it had erased the old photos, the folder is now empty. Is there anyway to recover them? Any programs i can use? suggestions please.

Is it possible to retrieve 1000 photos that have been photostreamed thru to my mac from my daughter in Europe but not saved on my mac.  These same photos have been deleted from my daughters ipad in Europe ?

If the photos have been deleted from Photo Stream, then they are gone unless they have been saved elsewhere. Are they not in the Camera Roll of the iOS device they were taken on?
Photo Stream is not a permanent storage solution. It stores up to the last 1000 photos taken on an iOS device for a maximum of 30 days.

  • I have been saving photos that have been emailed to me. They show up in the camera roll and then I put them in separate albums. My camera roll when I try to open it freezes and the thumbprints are a jumbled and blurred. This is on my ipad.

I have been saving photos that have been emailed to me on my ipad. They show up in the camera roll, but when I open the camera roll the thumbprints are jumbled and blurred and frozen. I can't get out of there unless I shut my ipad down and restart it. I can use other parts of my ipad ,but my camera roll remains frozen....help!

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

If you have a backup that includes these photos, you could restore your phone.

I did copy it to my desktop, but it still won't let me open it.  I think the file on the disc might be corrupt or something like that though the cd itself checks out fine as far as viruses go.  I was able to verify the disc, but that's about it.  My husband tried it on his iMac and we have the same issue.  It's unzipping the folder, but won't let us open the folder on both the Mac Book Pro or the iMac by double clicking, going to file/open or right clicking.  It just keeps saying the same message as I posted above.  I think I'm just going to have the client put the pictures on either a memory card or a USB memory stick so she won't have to compress the files for zipping purposes.  It's been too frustrating trying to open this folder on this cd she gave me.  She said she created/zipped the cd on her Mac Book Pro but it sure won't open on mine.

  • How do I save photos that have been synced to my Ipad2, so that they do not get deleted when I sync with a different photo file on my computer.

How do I save photos that have been synced to my Ipad2, so that they do not get deleted when I sync with a different photo foder on my computer (Pc win7).

Place that first folder of photos that you synced to the iPad within the main folder of photos that you sync from and select them to sync again. You can place any number of subfolders within the main folder that you sync from and select those folders to sync. Just "tick"(select) the folders in the photos tab in iTunes.

I want to delete photos that have been copied from my computer to my i-pad,i can delete albums but not phots?

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

You can only delete photos from your Camera Roll directly.

Photos that have been deleted to aperture trash cannot be viewed. Any assistance is welcome in fixing this bug. The showing all files option is selected in the filter. System is 10.8.4. Aperture version 3.4.5. Used to be able to view the files then all of a sudden they have stop appearing. Once the aperture trash is emptied the files can be viewed in the system trash. Becomes quite annoying if you want to review the aperture trash files before deletion.

In the most recent version I cannot get this trick to work, however. But try it anyway, maybe it is just my macthat has an issue.
Did this happen directly after the update? Where is your library located, on an external or an internal drive? Are your originals managed or referenced?
I'd try next to check, if this is caused by the library, by creating a small test library and trying to trash pictures there. If it works well in a new library try to repair the database and the permissions on your regular library.  See:

Yest it will restore photos deleted from yur iOd probvide that the photos were taken before the the last synce/backyp was made.  Make syre yu have automatic syncing turned off (Itunes>Preference>Devices>Check the box that says prevent auto syncing when connected).  Otherwise when connected, a backup that reflects the deleted photos will be made and will replace the previous backup.

  • Removing photos that have been deleted

I used to have photos on a hard drive that were linked in iPhoto.  The hard drive crashed and now everytime I access on of those photos, I get an error message.  Is there any way to quickly fix this?  I have thousands of photos and would hate to go through them individually.
    Thanks,

There's no way to make iPhoto 'forget' the images that have been trashed independent of it, and so you have a corrupted Library.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I have an iPhone 4 and I can save photos (to my camera roll) that have been emailed to me on the iPhone.  However, I've been unable to figure out how to save  video attachments that have been sent to me on the iPhone.  Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently not. I have both an iPhone 4 and an iPad thatbive upgraded to iOS 5.0.1.  While it is reported that if you click on the attached video file and hold that you will be presented a "Save Video" option, all I see is "Quick Look". Thinking it might have been GoodReader, I unknow installed GoodReader but still no option. I wonder if this yet another feature in iOS 5 that doesn't work on upgrades

  • Finding Photos that have been saved as Tiff

I've been using Blurb to make photo books, and love the results. One of the best things, is that it will read my iphoto library without me having to upload the photos to another website. Problem, is it will only read JPEG or PNG images in iphoto.
It does read my RAW photos as long as I have not edited them, but when I edit the RAW, iphoto saves as 16-bit Tiff. Which I like for keeping the quality of my photos. But then I can't get them in my books. So I've gone back and forth (being the indecisive girl I am) and some RAW are then saved as JPEG, and others as TIFF.
Now I'm trying to find which ones are TIFF. But I can't find anywhere that shows me what the new file type is after the edit has been done. I made a smart album of RAW, Edited but it will show me both the Tiff, and the Jpeg.
Anyone know how to find out the file type of an image. I've looked under "Info" and it still lists as RAW.
I noticed that the TIFF's have a file size of 0, so if there's a way to search for that criteria, that might help too.

Thanks! For some reason, that won't actually find them. The filename is still .crw, at least what I can see. The search doesn't actually seem to search the "modified" file.
I wound up actually just looking in the package contents of iphoto, trying to find all files that have a .tif extension and then going back to iphoto to find the matching picture. Not simple, but at least I can figure out which ones are the tiff.

  • Tagging Photos That Have Been Used in a Mobileme Gallery

Hello there. Does anyone have any tips on tagging photos in their Aperture library that they've used in a mobileme gallery? I've had problems with a green cast appearing on images in one of my mobileme galleries and I wanted to delete this gallery and re-upload it without having to select all the images again and creating the gallery from scratch. Does anyone know if there is a way of finding which images have been used in a gallery or would I have to manually tag them in some way so I know which images have been used in a gallery. Thank you

Your Mobileme galleries should be listed in the library pane on the left. How about creating a new album in the main library and dragging the images from a gallery to the album. Then delete the gallery and recreate it from the album.

  • How can I force iMovie to reload photos that have been edited?

I put a movie together in iMovie and used many photos. Later I decided to edit some of them. I did that on my PC and resynced my photo library on my iPad2. When I go back into iMovie, it's still showing the old versions of the photos (pre-editing), which no longer exist. So the old versions must be cached somewhere. Is there a way to force iMovie to reload all of the photos.  I tried loading another iMovie project then going back, but that didn't help. I also had iMovie export the movie to the camera roll, thinking that it my reload the photos during that process, but that didn't work either.

Just to be clear, iMovie is still showing old versions of photos that no longer exist in the iPad's Photo Library.
