Is it possible to recreate this effect on FCP or Motion?

Hi there, I'm attempting to recreate this multi luma key effect on FCP but it is proving diffucult? Are there any methods for this to work on either FCP or Motion?
Thanks in advance,

Yeah - it's possible, but not without some trickery.
First download and install this:
http://sight-creations.com/fxexchange/LumaFill.zip
if you need installation instructions, go here: http://sight-creations.com/install4fcpx/  (this is an Effect).
You need greenscreen media. Apply the Keyer to the greenscreen footage. After the Keyer, apply Luma Fill. Select the Drop Zone source well and click on the clip you want to place inside the "person" (or whatever's left of the green screen). (The drop zone source can be from the event browser OR from the storyline [or connected clip -- and you can "hide" clips underneath the storyline.])
Place a generator or another clip (or clips) beneath the clip to serve as a background.
Adjust the Luma Fill with the Levels control -- drag the White Point down towards the black to "open it up". Or adjust the gamma (grey/middle control) upwards to create a mix (and try some of the other parameter controls as well.)
[this greenscreen footage also has tracking marks... ]
You can also use this effect (without a keyer) on "plain" (non-greenscreen) media and with or without drop zone media -- it's a cool way to add a mix of Black & White over whatever you place the clip. [Add drop zone media for a 3-way mix.]
[stockfootage from BottledVideo.com and HollywoodCameraWork.us (greenscreen media)]
PS - if FCPX "freaks" a little (doesn't show the effects in the video pane) simply select the transform icon under the left corner of the view, then click the Done button (that's all you need to do -- the effects should reappear in the Video inspector.) I didn't notice any adverse effects beyond that.

  • Adobe Muse CC, Is it possible to achieve this effect?

Hi everyone, it's me again. Now I was browsing through the internet when I come across these two websites:
Supernova – WordPress Theme (This is a website theme/template)
http://airnauts.com/ (This is an actual website)
So, in the first one, the Wordpress theme, as you can see there is this "Fade-In" text effect, now I managed to achieve the same effect via "Composition Widget" following the instructions in this video:
    " Adobe Muse CC 7.0 Tutorial | Auto-Fading Design Elements - YouTube "
Now, I managed to "synchronize" the time settings, so that my slideshow pictures fade and when there is a new picture the text fades in, the problem is, it happens just once, what I did basically was:
I set the auto-fading effect using the: "Hide Initially" feature in the "Composition" Widget (like in the video tutorial) and for the first picture/text I set the time, so that when the page loads it automatically fades in, and that works very fine, my point is, that you can't see the effect again unless you reload the page. In the Supernova theme you can clearly see that the texts fade in as the page loads and as the slide changes, so each time it changes slide there's a new text fading in, and if you go back to the previous slide without reloading the page, it still shows it, as if the auto-fading text was somehow "linked" the the picture itself, so that when that particular picture is shown, the effect of the fade-in text comes up, each time that particular picture is shown.
I made some research and I found out that there's a program called WordPress and that the "Supernova Theme" is actually a "template" for that program (I might be mistaken though). Now, my question here is, is it possible to achieve the same effect with Muse? Like: "when this image appears then the following fade-in text does"
And, as for the second link, as you will see, there a very cool scrolling effect that makes the rectangle sort of: "turns around" (it's better if you just see what I'm talking about int he second link)
Is it possible to do the same with Muse?
    Thank you for your time!

    Hi Chuck--
I haven't seen a specific example of this yet, but I know it's possible to do in Edge Animate. I think shotdang's example is the same concept, but doesn't take it as far.
It'd be kind of a similar concept to this, too: http://html.adobe.com/edge/animate/showcase/templates/tabviewer/TabViewer.html
You could start from here: http://www.edgedocks.com/market/organic-menu-edge-animate
Then, you'd just need to design your project so that the menu items target the frames you want animated.

  • Is it possible to achieve this effect in Muse?

The effect is on the menu system at http://blazdesign.com/portfolio/. When you click on a menu item the contents below animate and rearrange. Very slick. Does anyone know how this was achieved? And if there is anyway to achieve this using Muse, perhaps in combination with other CC apps? If not, is there any effect acheivable in Muse that might achieve similar functionality?
    Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

  • How to recreate this effect?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q4L2Ynksy4
The effect I'm looking to use is at the very beginning of the video, where there are really bright and blurred lights. I'm fairly new to AE and searched a lot but couldnt find.
I know the blur is probably just a basic gaussian blur, but I can't figure out how to make those bright lights that later, when the blur is gone, turn into a bunch of hello-kitty(?) pictures.
    Kind regards.

    That is called bokeh.
Lens Blur effects can create it. So can creative use of Min/Max

  • Is this done in FCP or Motion or both?

I'm looking to do a video similar to the style of this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fsalz1GE3p4
How would I accomplish such edits? FCP, Motion or both?

Couldn't watch the whole video but if you are referring to the split screen, pretty simple to do that in FCP. In a nutshell, you stack the individual clips on separate video tracks in FCP (order depending on what clip you want on top of what) then manipulate the size and motion of those clips using keyframes in the appropriate sections of the Motion tab.
Can also be done in Motion but either way, time to break out the manual.

  • How to do this effect in photoshop?

How do I do the effect used in this photo – to cover a face with a layer that follows all the curves.  And what do you call this effect?

This is called a layer mask that has had layer transparency done to it and, possibly a series of Layer effects, too! There are quite a few steps and procedures to create this type of effect.
I don't have the patience to try to give you each exact step by step to achieve this, but you might have better luck posting your query and image to a Photoshop users forum such as this.
    Planet Photoshop.
    http://planetphotoshop.com/
Someone there may have created the entire procedures to recreate this effect.
    Good Luck!

  • How do I achieve this effect (Fireworks)?

    Hey guys!
I'm brand new to the forum and a very "green" web designer. I'm hoping that someone wouldn't mind sharing their expertise with a newbie such as myself with what I fear is a very easy problem, haha.
In the following link there is a graphic in the upper-left corner that reads "Gateway Studios." The word "Gateway" is transparent so that it shows through the orange block and allows the background to come through:
    http://themeforest.net/item/gateway-studios-for-wordpress/full_screen_preview/82145
I am interested in recreating this effect. What sort of process(es) would I need to perform to duplicate this outcome? The images is saved as a .png, so I'm wondering if I need to use Fireworks. I have CS4 and am eager to apply this effect to some of my graphics.
I know that there is likely an extremely easy solution to remedy this problem, however, as I stated before I am very new to all this. Any response would be greatly appreciated!

First off, thank you both for your quick responses! I really appreciate the help from people who are way more knowledgeable than I am and can take the time to work with those in need of assistance (which I most certainly am, haha).
Marian, I actually already know how to make the canvas transparent and perhaps this is something I should have been more clear about in the OP. What I am actually going for is the effect where the word "Gateway" is allowing the background to show through the orange layer so that it looks like a cut-out...does this make sense? I know I'm probably not using the correct terminology, but it's the best way I know how to explain it.
I did go through some of the threads in the Fireworks forum but didn't find anything particularly useful.
I read the article you suggested as well and found it to be very helpful! I look forward to applying that technique once I get this image squared away! I just really want to get that cut-out effect going!

  • Recreating this on final cut express (effects)

Hello, I was wondering if anybody knows if it's possible to recreate the intro effects from this tv show (it's dynasty from the 80's) on final cut express. I'm talking about the pictrues thats slight up in strips (the character intros) Any info on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
    Here is a clip...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMIQ92AZdko

Pretty simple in FCE. There are a number of different ways to do it, cropping the video, using garbage mattes or mask shape filters, or using travel mattes. There's a lot to learn here so you might want to read the manual about these or get a good instruction book or DVD.

  • Is this effect possible?

Can anyone help me determine if this effect is possible in
flash? I've created a video to show the effect, heres the link:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=db70f6709325bacd1bee9a6e9edd9c76e04e75f6e8ebb871
Its only 2mb video. Basically what happens is this: When you
move the cursor around the page, the "shine" inside the logo
changes. So think of it this way, there's an image file (a shiny
texture) that follows wherever the cursor is, and the image is
masked inside of the logo, so that when you move the cursor around
you see the texture inside the logo moving with you. Anyone know if
this is possible? Or anyone have ideas on how I can achieve a
    similar effect?

sure you could do something like that with moving an item in
the x,y directions related to mouse movement. the demo is related
to calculating the angle of the mouse and rotation. you can do
something similar with a percentage based on the mouse position and
scroll an image under a mask accordingly.
and now that you say that - i totally see what was happening
    in the vid ;)
give me a bit and I'll put a demo up.

  • ----- Is it possible to create this mask shape effect in FCP X?

I've been playing around with some masks in FCP X, but I cannot figure out how to create this effect..is it possible?
I am interested in creating a mask shape where I can use it to identify something on the screen inside the shape with the surrounding area darker.
In FCP 6/7, I used to just add a slug on top of the clip, add a mask shape, tweak it, invert it and lower the opacity.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you.

in FCPX no masks nor additional tracks needed:
    select the clip
in the Info board, select the Color Correction
    there's a built-in Mask tool - select that
switch on the Color Board, here comes the trick: …
you are allowed to select WHERE the correction is applied: inside or outside the mask
    (in my German interface Innen/Außen)
    drag down the general exposure
there are handles to define size, shape, position
you can drag the outer circle (no handles) to define blurr gradient
you can even animate that highlight by key-framing it ....
with the same tool, you can e.g. apply super-fast some simple 'grading' such a 'CSI Miami-style Blue Sky':

Is it possible to do This type of Graphic Effect in After Effect..?

I assume that you're referring to the twisty 3D ribbons.
Zaxwerks 3D Serpentine is good for that:

  • Help recreating this text effect

    Hello,
Can someone help me recreate this text effect?
    http://tinyurl.com/3a6ogl8
    Here's my version:
    http://tinyurl.com/3ahmj98
    http://tinyurl.com/2v9k58d
The trained eye can probably see that the original version looks much better. Why is that? Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong, or could this text have been made using a different technique?
(whether I use Flash or Photoshop shouldn't matter as their text effects are pretty much identical)
    Many thanks!

nevermind y'all i figured it out!!

  • Anyone know how to make this effect?

Mac Miller - Clarity (Macadelic) - YouTube
I'm trying to recreate the same 'push and pull' kind of effect which you can hear most clearly from 0.00 to 0.35...
It's obviously using compression and I've tried sidechaing the sound to the snare and tweaking the attack and release settings but I still can't get this effect. It might also use some kind of delay technique...
    Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not positive but, to me, it just sounds like a combination of individual loops perhaps with some fades to control the attack and decay.  it could be a sawtooth wave on the white noise loop but it sounds like too much of a delay from the decay to attack which is why i think it's more likely individual clips.  once you have the white noise part it seems to be a matter of playing your other parts (sounds like an organ part and a piano part) on or around the decay of the those clips.  the loose timing of the keyboard parts along with lots of modulation give it that sort of sick see-saw effect.

  • How can I do this effect ?

    Hello
I've seen this effect in latest engadget show, episode 25

I wonder if this is possible with Final Cut Pro X and if yes, what do I have to use ?
    Thanks

If you want the text (technology) to hide behind the wheel like that, it's best done in Motion.
FCP X can do the rest though.

  • Need Help Achieving this Effect (picture)

The effect I am trying to achieve is fairly basic. I am trying to recreate this curvy line. As shown here.
I tried doing this with a few different methods that didn't work out as I had hoped. I tried 1) using a horizontal line and then transform - >distort. It didn't seem to work out very well. I also tried 2) using the eliptical marque selection to draw circle, stroke, and delete a portion of it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance

The curve in the example looks like a perfect arc, so you could drage out a circle holding down the Shift key - stroke it - select and delete the bits you don't want.
I did with shape layers, but it is a bit fiddly removing the unwanted part of the arc doing it that way. You have to select the circle with the Selection tool, then add points with the pen tool in just the right place.  Then add sacrificial points that you can delete (with the delete key) which breaks the circle.
