Is it possible to reinstall CS 5.5 Design Standard on a new computer w/o the install disc? I have my disc at home (out of state) and currently away at school and have to reload it. Is this software out there?

Thanks for getting back to me. I am not sure if you understood my
situation. What I needed was to contact Adobe customer support so that they
could deactivate the CS6 on my broken computer. The problem I had, and you
might want to address this as part of Adobe customer service moving
forward, is that there is no way to contact customer service for issues
with CS6. The only support option allowed on your website is to post a
question in the Forum.
If you follow the link you sent me to Adobe customer service, and believe
me I did, you will be taken to a page that will ask you for some
information about your product first. Once you go thru the series of
questions and windows, you reach a page that tells you that your only
support option is the Forum. It will literally not allow you to initiate a
chat session!
I finally found that their is a small statement at the bottom of the page
from your company president saying that customer service is important to
him and to let him know how Adobe is doing. By clicking on that link I was
able to send an email and within a few hours a customer service rep named,
Sandeep Singh, responded to me and told me that he had increased my
activation count so that I could reload CS6 on my new computer.
Given that the average computer lasts 3 to 6 years and that Adobe products
are quite expensive, their should be some way for your customers to contact
customer service directly without the need to navigate through a system
designed to make it nearly impossible to contact someone. This kind of
support should be available for at least as long as one might reasonably be
expected to use your product, say 5 years.
In contrast to this difficult experience, I also contacted Microsoft
yesterday for help with transferring software from my broken computer to
the replacement. It was extremely easy! I went to their customer service
site answered a few questions and was presented with the option of either
chatting with a rep or having one call me. I chose call and withing 5
minutes someone called me and helped me with my issue. They even sent me an
email confirming the resolution with a case number.
This process has really made me wonder why Adobe has chosen to offer such
limited and deliberately difficult customer service. I hope these comments
can help you address these issues internally so that Adobe can improve its
customer service experience.

Prepare Your Mac for Sale
Boot from the OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select the startup volume from the left side list then click on the Erase tab. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then click on the Options button. Select the one pass Zero Data option and click on the OK button. Then click on the Erase button.
Note: You can skip the Zero Data option if you are not concerned about removing sensitive personal data from the hard drive. If you choose to skip this part of the process then it is possible for others to recover data from the hard drive. The Zero Data procedure will prevent others from getting access to your personal information.
This process will take 30 minutes to several hours depending upon the size of the hard drive. After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Now complete the OS X installation. At the completion of the installation do not restart the computer. Instead just shut it off. The next user will be presented with the Setup Assistant when they turn on the computer just as it would if new out of the box.

These are two possible approaches that should work to move the existing library to the new laptop.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase are reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your library or a backup of it then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Thank you. I am a little bit busy at work, sorry for the delayed reply. I tried to solve the problem, but it still exists. The 3rd of the Adobe disk is damaged someway. I tried to run on my mac at home and it has a failure. So I think we have no other choice that to download the full pack of master collection. I had a discussion with the IT expert and he figured out that company does not exist any more from where they purchased the Adobe Master Collection for Mac and PC. So If you would be kind to help me, what kind of information ID or any kind of document would be needed to identify the purchaser institute (us). I don't think any of us has an account at the Adobe. I will try to figur out. I desperately need to replace Photoshop and InDesign as without them it's really harsh to teach the kids fot the graphic design.

Because you are running lion.. FCS 6 is a Power PC app and Lion doesn't support Power PC anymore.. So you can't install it.. Three options..
1. Revert back to Snow Leopard.
2. Purchase FCP X...
if you can't stand FCP X
3. Call apple directly, 1800-MYAPPLE and ask to purachse FCS 3 for $999... (its FCP 7)

The simplest way is to copy the CD to a memory stick (will need to use another computer -- like at your local library). You can also download the trial version and then provide you serial number during the install.

I saved my entire itunes library including playlists to an external hard drive prior to my old laptop crashing. When I have tried to move my library from the external hard drive to the new computer in the past, I have not been able to retain the playlists I built, although I did save them. Is it possible to somehow re-intall the old playlists onto the new itunes when going from external hard drive to a new computer? Thanks!

Great question. This is possible, granted you still have access to the "iTunes Library.xml" or "iTunes Music Library.xml" file. If you do still have these files, follow this article:

I purchased CS6 awhile ago on disc and installed it on a Windows laptop that is now dead. I cannot find the disc but I have the serial number and everything. How do I cancel it on my previous laptop and reinstall it on my new laptop online (without the disc)? Is there a way to do this?

Your license allows for two machines with activated installations, so you do not have to reset them, but if you wish to you can contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.

Can I transfer CC for Teams membership (Photoshop) to a new user on the same machine without uninstalling and reinstalling software? i.e. one user left new user started needing the same software.

We have Creative Cloud for Teams, most users using Photoshop. One user left the company and has been replaced by another user. I removed the first user's membership and assigend it to the new user. When she runs Photoshop, she gets a 00 Days left message. Photoshop still seems to be useable right now but I'm wondering if I need to uninstall Photoshop and re-install it using her credentials? Seems like a lto of unnecessary work to me.

There is no need for removal of the product . You can simply launch the product , click on Help>Sign out . Close the product and sign in with the new user's Adobe ID & Password. This should activate the product .

Newbie to the Mac world here - have just purchased a used 15" MacBook Pro A1226, which came with some discs.
I want to reset the machine to its original settings; as it currently has the old user's info on it.
The discs I received with the laptop are as follows:
MacBook Pro Mac OS X Install Disc 1, MAC OS Version 10.4.10, AHT version 3A124, Disc version 1.2, 2Z691-6088-A
Mac OS Instal Disc 2, Disc version 1.0, 2Z691-6113-A
13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac OS X Install DVD, Mac OD version 10.6, Disc version 1.0, 2Z691-6533-A

I have a 15" screen though the discs I have state they are for a 13" screen. Will this matter if I use these discs? Do you think the seller has sent me the correct discs?
Also, a general question - is trying this reset mysef an ok thing to try? I'm experienced in doing this with a Windows machine but as I say above am new to Macs.

The owner should have done that prior to selling. 3. and 4. you can't use. They are machine specific for a 13" model. Which one is anyone's guess. 1. and 2. are for 10.4 Tiger OS and should work with your Mac model. It's a Santa Rosa that came out in 2007.

So insert the disk and boot while holding down the 'c' key. Launch Disk Utility, do and Erase & Install.
In addition the owner should have provided you with the original system disks that came with this MBP model.

You could only get the serial number (which is required) if the product was registered. You could check on Adobe.com.
