Is it possible to remove phone ring from piano recital video clip in Final Cut Pro?
Hi.
I edit all videos in Final Cut Pro. My last video clip is a piano recital. And there is a phone rining during biutiful piano performance. Anybody knows how to remove it without removing this part of music?
Looks like you're using FCPX so this is the wrong forum, pop over to the FCPX forum and ask there, although I think the answer will be, always keep phones on silent at piano recitals.

Can't capture from my cannon video camera to Final Cut or iMovie.
Hi. I can't capture from my cannon video camera to FInal Cut or iMovie. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. I don't think my iMac is recognizing the camera. I was told I don't need a firewire, that USB would work if I'm just capturing. If I need a firewire what kind (the one I was sold didn't fit). I'm getting an "unable to locate external device message". Not sure of next steps to try. Thanks.

You require a firewire cable.
The camera connection end will be four pin and the Mac is nine pin to the 800 port.
Ask for a 9 to 4 pin firewire cable. Sounds like you have the wrong one as they can also be 4 to 4 or 4 to 6 pin!!
Also you will need the correct Easy Setup in FCE so FCE talk to the camera, exactly which one depends on what type of footage is being sent to FCE from the camera during capture.

Can I import .MTS files from an external hard drive into Final Cut Pro X?

Luis,
Just to clarify one point…in order for Streamclip to convert the MTS I believe a plug-in like the AVCCAM QuickTime importer from Panasonic needs to be installed. (Credit David McClain over at the FCS boards for that info.)

Exporting a JPEG in 4:3 from video footage in Final Cut pro is impossible
I'm trying to export a screen grab from final cut pro as a jpg. It's easy to export a jpg image, but as far as I can tell, it is completely impossible to export it as a 4:3 aspect ratio image. My video footage is all 4:3 but all of the jpg images I try to export come out squished into 16:9. This is driving me crazy!
Here is what I'm doing . . .
Export >Using Quicktime Conversion >Format (Still Image)
From their I've tried every setting you can imagine and FCP still obstinately refused to allow me to export a jpg image in it's true proportions.
Please prove me wrong.Awesome! You rock moblie! Thanks a lot for the info. I was wondering why the image proportions were correct in photoshop (ie. 720x480, I thought those were 4:3 dimensions, but I guess it's just resolution?). I adjusted the image in photoshop to be 720x534 pixels and it looks fine now.
I realize this isn't the smartest question in the world, but why isn't 720x480 a 4:3 aspect ratio? I don't really understand aspect ratio all that well (as you can tell).
Thanks again!

I have been trying for a few days to dump my SVHS camera tapes to Final Cut Pro X. Using the Canopus ADVC55 encoder fed from a Panasonic SVHS video deck into iMac firewire. The picture appears on screen but will not save as an archive atall. Trying to import into an event has a little more success. When it comes across a section of tape between camera shots without sync it either crashes Final Cut or randomly picks up the replay later or trims the shots down by about a minute. Not sure what to do to let to allow it to import a tape complete with blank sections. I have a Panasonic SVHS deck with timebase correction on output, would this help maintain a constant sync signal for the ADVC55 and final cut pro? Very frustrating just trying to dump videos to digital.
Footnote to this problem. Put a Panasonic WJ-EV5 video mixer inline between deck and Canopus ADVC55 and this maintains the sync for perfect copies. If the red light on the ADVC55 comes on during the import to event sync has been lost and FCPX crashes or aborts the copy in various ways with unpredictable files.
The import to archive still will not store the data.
Maybe Final Cut authors can explain why import to event works but import to archive does not.

Importing From Canon Vixia HF M30 to Final Cut Pro
Hey there, I have been trying to import to final cut with some success. Importing From Canon Vixia HF M30 from my sd card.
I used the easy setup.
FORMAT HD
USE HDV APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC 1080I60
I go to log and transfer select the clips I need and click add to que.
So perfect there are my clips in my bin, I bring them to my timeline and a green line appears above my video, uugggggh. I know this is a rendering issue but why.
Please help does anyone know why this is happening.
This is very frustrating, I have been trying to read the other discussions I didn't see anything on it let alone the info on the net, trying different things just not working for me.
Thanks GangYour camera records AVCHD. Convert to prores 422 or prores 422(LT) on log and transfer and make sure your sequence matchs your footage.

How can I create a Time Lapse from clips in FInal Cut Pro?
Currently have 3hrs of footage from an event....wondering how I can create a time lapse of it all in FCP. I want to make it shortened down to around 4mins if possible. How is this created?
Try exporting a reference quicktime of your sequence and reimporting it into your project. Drop it in a sequence. Use the Time remap tool (click and hold in the select edit points tool until you see the icon that looks like a clock and choose it). Click and drag the end of your clip until it's at the 4 min mark.
Andy
PS: This is for FCP 7. Earlier versions of FCP require use of the speed dialog (CMD+J) or Time Remapping in the Motion Tab of the viewer.

Codec error from photoshop using fade in with final cut pro
I'm trying to render a video, but i get the error "codec error"
The clips are actually still layers coming from photoshop cs2.
The rendering 'breaks' when i try to add a video transition- fade in.
It still doesn't allow rendering even if i use the motion tab to mimic a 'fade in' by increasing the opacity from 0% to 100%It is possible and very, very simple.
Just mark in and out on the still, allowing for enough extra frames (handles) to make the transitions.
Let's say that you edit a psd, or any still image for that matter, into your Timeline.
You initially decide on a hard cut in and out, with a duration of 5 seconds.
Now you decide to dissolve in and out of the same still instead but you need extra frames for the transition duration:
Double click the still, so that it appears in the Viewer. Click the box at top left that shows 00:00:05:00.
Change it to a duration that will include enough handles. Add your transitions. -
Getting the data code infomation from my sony fx1 camera into final cut pro
hi
any help/advice would be great.
i have shot some footage and am capturing it now, ideally i would like a time of day timecode
i dont think the f1 has a timecode on it ,but when i press the data code button it shows the time at recording ,which is perfect for what i need, but when i look at the clip in the browser there is nothing in the media start and end box's.
so my question is ,is there a way to have the data code information (ie time of day it is recorded) shown in fcp?
cheers all
simoni know i have posted it......
but it has got me bothered as there must be a way to view the data code infomation in fcp and somehow see it in the media in and out like you do in time of day timecode i get from other cameras hoping some clever person will know what i can do or if its not possible at all even though the data code can be read by other mini dv cameras
thanks all for your reply's -
How do I convert footage from my iPhone to edit in final cut pro?
I have some video's that I shot with my iPhone 3Gs and also hidef video that I shot from my iPhone 4. When I try to edit these in FCP, it makes me render every time I slow the footage or put any effect on the footage. Is there a way to just convert the footage I have into media that is easier to view and edit without having to render every time you want to see the results?
Thanks,
CalebYou should be able to use Compressor or MPEG Streamclip to convert the footage to a format that will match your FCP Sequence settings.

Why can't I use HD video from my Samsung Galaxy S2 in Final Cut Pro 6?
My Samsung Galaxy S2 shoots gorgeous 1080P HD Video. It has no trouble importing into iPhoto, but when I want to edit in Final Cut Pro 6, it won't accept the file. Anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.
FCP doesn't edit the format the camera shoots. You need to convert the video files to ProRes...then import into FCP.
If you want an app that edits formats natively, look at Adobe Premiere CS5.5. -
I can not import 60p files from Sony NEX-FS100U to Final Cut Pro X.
I can not import 60p files from my Sony NEX-FS100U to Final Cut Pro 10.0.1. Does Sony offer a plug in?
I shoot fishing footage of big catches. Slow motion playback appears to me to be much better when shot it 60p even compared to 60i. It also blows away all of the other formats for a "still" grab. Thank you for your help as I did a search and downloaded Clip Wrap which converted the files to .mov and they actually do import the full 60 frames. Thank you again for your reply.
