Is it possible to rename app icons on the home screen?

When I save an app or bookmark to the home screen, I invariably get the name wrong so that I want to rename it. But I can't find out how to. Is it possible to rename, or do I have to start all over again?
Thanks

Delete the bookmark and then re-save it, That's the only way that I have found.

  • App icons on the home screens

Hi. I'd very much appreciate some help on something. I've just downloaded the latest BB10 system update on my Q10. All my app icons (which I'd carefully organised in frequency-of-use groups) have now been scattered over various home screens. I want to reorganise them more sensibly. I know that I can (in theory anway) do this icon by icon, by pressing on the app until all the icons on the page start pulsating and then dragging the individual app to another screen. But this is very laborious and the sensitivities of the icons / pages have changed so that it is now extremely difficult to do this without the individual home screens flashing past you before you can release the app icon on the screen where you want to reposition it. Is there another way I can reorganise my icons -- preferably by selecting a number of related apps (eg about travel) in one go and then moving them en bloc to my chosen destination? All and any help most welcome -- thank you.

    Yep!
And that involves moving them manually, which is what I do.
The OP wants it automated, I don't know that I want the device doing that.

  • Is it possible to have an app icon on the home screen without it actually being downloaded to the device's memory?

The reason for wanting to do this, is to free up memory on my iPhone. I would like to delete apps that i don't use very often, but still have them on my home screen so that they don't get lost and forgotten about in my long list of 'purchased apps'... then when i do want to use them, they are there on my homescreen waiting to be re-downloaded.
This would be a similar concept to the way that iTunes Match works. I can either choose to see only the songs which are downloaded to my phone or see all of the music i have stored in the cloud, for download as and when i want to listen to it.
If this cannot be done, i hope it will be a feature of one of the next iOS updates.
(Currently using iOS 7.1.2 on iPhone 5S)
    Thanks

  • App icon on the home screen

On my home screen, before I slide to unlock it, there is an icon like the one for Photos there is at the bottoms of the screen.  Do I need to close something?  Thanks

That is the Picture Frame icon for turning the iPad into a digital photo frame i.e. you can tap it to show photos without unlocking the iPad (the actual settings for it are in Settings > Picture Frame)). If you don't want it to appear then you can turn it off via Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Picture Frame 'off' (though you can only turn it off if you have a passcode lock set).

  • Is there an icon for face time on the iphone4s home screen? I remember I saw it before but not any more. I still have the FaceTime app,but would like to find the icon on the home screen again. Anyone can help?

Check all of your folders to see if FaceTime is in any of them.
If not, check your restrictions (Settings>General>Restrictions) and if restrictions are on, and you know the passcode, then FaceTime might be turned off. Turn ON to veiw icon on home screen.
Let me know if this does/doesnt work.

  • How do you add a new icon to the home screen?

How do you add a new icon to the home screen?

The only new icons you can add to your home screen are webclips, which can be added by using the "+" button in safari on the desired web page.
You won't be able to add new apps until February when the SDK is fully seeded to developers.

  • How do you create Document Icons on the Home Screen?

I have an iPad to use exclusively in the kitchen and would like to make my recipes appear as indivdual icons on the home screens with an associated picture.
    For example; Pumpkin Soup
I would like to create an icon with a picture of pumpkin soup and the same as a title.
When you tap the Pumpkin Soup icon a page appears with instructions and perhaps a picture or two.
So my question is: What are my options for creating these stand-alone icons that bring up a page that describes a recipe/document.
I understand that there are many 'recipe' apps avaliable, but none that I've encountered have the ability to save individual recipes as icons on the home screen.
I dont care whether I use a recipe app or some other processing/publishing app to achieve this.
I would very much like the recipe/document to appear on screen crisp and clear without program formatting around it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

I'm aware of the Safari shortcut, but was hoping there was a document, etc shortcut.
Thank you for your reply James Ward4

  • I have just downloaded ios7 and none of my app icons are showing on the home screen.   In the App Store they are showing as purchases.   How do I get them to show as icons on the home screen?

I have just downloaded ios7 to my iphone4.   Now none of my apps are showing as icons on my home screen.    What should I do?    This didn't happen when I updated my iPad.

You may have transferred all your songs, but your iPad is seeing the library as a different entity.

  • HT5858 I downloaded the ios 7 update, and now none of my apps are showing as shortcut icons on the home screen.

I know the apps are all still on my phone because when I go to the app store and choose an app I have the "open" option instead of "install". Also when I double-tap the home screen I see all of the icons to scroll through at the bottom of the screen, I can tap on one and open it up with no problem, but how do I get the icons to show back up on the home screen?

Sync with itunes or on your phone go to appstore - update - purchase - all or not on this phone and redownload the app.

  • Keep getting kicked out of my iPad 2 apps back to the home screen!

When using my iPad 2 no matter what app I'm using it will just kick me back to the home screen! Sometimes, right away sometimes after 5 to 10 minutes! Please help. If it matters I bought it boxing day.

Try all of these basic steps and see if any of them help at all.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Close all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button. Restart the iPad.
For Safari specifically ..... Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • I cannot move icons to the home screen

Pardon me if this is old, but I cannot find it here via search.  I'm new to iPhone, having had Windows phones, Palm, and others in the past.  Just picked this up today.  Slick.  It even makes AT&T look better.  Here's my question.
I understand tap and hold to make the icons jiggle, then drag.  Only problem is, I can move them to the right but not to the left--to the home screen.  For example, I moved one of the default home screen icons to the second screen, leaving a hole.  Now I'm trying to move an icon from the second screen into the hole I created.  I can drag to the right and create a new screen, but it will not break through to the left onto the home screen.
Any clues as to what I might be doing wrong?  Thanks.
    Bill

OK.  My bad.  I searched again and found it.  Drag to the edge and hold it there for a couple seconds, and then it moves.  Please excuse the ring.

  • No Icons on the home screen of Apple TV

    Hi
I am new to Apple TV and bought a new 1080p Apple TV (model MD199E/A) with software version 5. But when i plugged it on instead of getting menus and icons (for youtube etc) i only have two icons on the main screen, computers and setup. The apple TV logo is on the upper half and the two icons below it. Please help in getting all the options on the main screen.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, a number of users appear to have encountered this problem. Some of these users have reported that the problem just disappears the following day or shortly after. Other users have found various other solutions to this problem.
Firstly, are you receiving any date and time errors when you turn on your Apple TV?
Check that you are properly connected to the Internet, by ensuring that you have a proper IP address and not one starting with 169. Also check that your location for the iTunes Store is set correctly, if so you might try changing it and then changing it back.
If the problem persists try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general. You should also try restarting your router, or if this doesn't work you might like to try a restore.
