Is it possible to replicate EPM on Server1 to server2 to act as Server1?

This is as complicated as it gets for me and I really need all you experts help on this. We have 'just' the essbase server installed on a Linux RHEL 5 box. All other EPM software(Foundation Services, R&A) is on Windows 2008. So Our Linux OS group applied a glibc 2.5-107 patch on our dev Linux server. Since then we have not been able to load data to the essbase cubes and Oracle acknowledged that upgrading to glibc 2.5-107 on RHEL 5 will cause issues in this support Doc *"Essbase Dataloads and Calculations Hang or Spike CPU to 100% after Applying Linux Operating System Package (glibc-2.5-107) [ID 1531236.1]".* So as the only solutions given were to downgrade the glibc version or to upgrade to a newer EPM version we asked the OS group if glibc could be downgraded. Obviously they felt it would be very complicated and cannot be done(just like I feel about my tasks). We are planning to upgrade to a newer EPM version but that is not going to happen until the second quarter.
My question is now that the dev server is handicapped in certain aspects our management came up with the idea that a new server would be built with software replicating(with the correct glibc version) the one on the handicapped Dev. And once that is in place we have to migrate applications to the new server. Is this posible at all? If not what is the way forward. Will it be easier to be given a fresh new server and then install the essbase server again and then configure it with the same schema used on the handicapped one. My management does not want to have to reinstall the product. I really have no idea on the way forward and would appreciate any help. If they do not give me a fresh new server and instead give me a server replicating the handicapped dev server will the new server have to be re-configured again. Please suggest how we can move forward on this.

It's difficult to understand the setup really judging by what the Linux OS group can and can't do. Is the server just for Essbase or does it handle other non Essbase things too? That's a rhetorical question. Either way having read the doc on Oracle Support it's pretty clear that the update needs to be rolled back (I googled the method in about 5 secs) or the latest maintenance release is applied the EPM system, which would be (in a perfect world) much easier than setting up a new server.
If you do get a new server don't bother using Linux if the Linus OS group can't manage it!
Windoze is the greatest.
Either way you're going to get short shrift off this forum if you start asking for step by step guides for updates/setups to an unidentified system, so to save you some time, if it is that important you had better call an EPM consultancy.

However, if you mean, replicating iAS on NT with iAS on Solaris, then, replication is not possible. But there are other methods to adopt.

Possible to replicate cn=schema between masters that don't share a LDBM?

I have multiple directory servers in my environment. One set has suffix A, another set has suffix B and a 3rd set has suffix C. I would like to replicate just the cn=schema between all of the masters for consistency reasons. Is it possible to replicate cn=schema between masters that don't share or replicate a user created database with each other?
These servers are DSEE 6.3.1 and are all controlled by the same DSCC.

I already know how to manually copy the 99user.ldif file to all of the servers. I am trying to get away from having to manually copy schema changes between servers every time a new attribute or objectclass is added to one set of servers.

How to establish an Oracle connection between server1 and server2

I am trying to establish an Oracle connection between server1 and server2 specifically, while logged into server2 launch OEM on server1. Can anyone help me out here on establishing this connections between the 2 servers. thank you inadvance

I am assuming this is 10g.
Same way you connect from your desktop to the server using the URL (e.g http://server1:1158/em).
But you have to ensure that server2 can see server1. They cannot see each other, then it is not OEM problem.

Is it possible to replicate groups in different designs?

I am trying to create a circuit layout template for a set of components which needs to be replicated across a lot of designs. This could be considered similar to the functionality of the 'Group replica place' and 'Copy route' functions but applied across different designs.
I have tried manually copying layouts to a new project but as soon as they are copied they do not get recognized because they are not included in the netlist. Additionally if I try to back annotate from a copied design to Multisim in order to force a netlist creation I get: 'The layout part XX has no corresponding schematic component. Select a component from the database.' and if I try to assign a component from the schematic database I get: 'There are no possible partner objects to select.'
Is there any simple way I can preserve a layout of a subcircuit and inserting it into to a different layout?

Hi,
I think the best way is to copy the schematic part that you need towards your new schematic.
But you should do this first before adding other parts to the new schematic.
this way you'll be able to keep all the refdes the same.
before taking that schematic to Ultiboard, copy the desired layout and components (and vi'as, copper areas etc) to your new layout,
then import your new netlist.
I think that should work (I've done this before on small designs.)
The only thing to check are the copper area's that are linked to specific nets, they might need to be reassigned...

Possible to replicate new fields?

Hi, I am running Oracle 8i v8.1.7 std edtion server on Windows 2000 server and have handheld computers running Oracle 8i Lite. I've got replication working well, but I was wondering if there is a way to replicate newly added fields (added on the server database) down to the Oracle 8i Lite db.
Right now I'm dropping and recreating snapshots on the handhelds but with 20 mobile users that is a hassle having to do it on each machine individually.
Any suggestions or solutions?

I was thinking that the link behavior might be able to accomplish this, but it doesn't seem to allow for the source image/footage of a particle system to be changed based on position or in any other way. Are individual particle emitters the only way to accomplish this effect?

Pretty much all of the portions of the tutorial can be replicated in Motion 4 - the only thing that won't work is the algorithmic reading of the surface map to determine which particle emitter to turn on.
You could work around this by duplicating the path of the particle emitter for each surface and manually activating each emitter at the proper point.
I did request the ability to read image characteristics and use them to alter parameters in a presentation to the Motion engineers, but they did not add it to Motion 5.

Novell clinet and W7 - Close as possible to replicate XP

We having a dilemma with W7 and Novell client, we use smartcards to login (imprivata) and in XP this use to automatically log us in to Novell. Is anayone aware of how to do this with W7?
Also how do I set it so that Novell is the primary login when the Windows 7 logon screen appears?

What type of smartcard

You can set it through the registry, GPO, ZCM or simple regfile.

Create that as a login script ? Just do a .cmd that check if the target directory exist, if no the robocopy start. You could ask in the scripting guru forum for such discussion. (the script would use %logonuser% or %username% )

AD and Windows Server have evolved over the last few decades. They anticipate almost everything you need. If you need it ask yourself what WS has in the product that is designed to solve your problem. Remember that we are all seeing the
same needs and have since the first computer system was built. There is seldom a need to work hard except when you are on the wrong path.
Learn the server product and its subsystems and learn AD and GP. Research how they are designed to work together to assist the Admin. I guarantee it will get you many raises and make you the hero.

Concatenate multiple rows in a single column

I am using Web Intelligence v4.0x (i think) and I am hoping to get help.
My query (from Performance Management Module) has a field name called "Device Name" and it has two rows, server1 and server 2 (maximum of 33 servers)
I am trying to concatenate these values so that a blank cell in a report reads
"Devices are: server1, server2"
I am not able to concatenate server1 and server2 (i.e. get server1, server2) in the above statement. I've tried to use Previous(Self) and it does not work. I get output in two rows as
server1,
server2,
Any assistance or direction is appreciated.

The solution that helped me earlier

worked for one Customer ID that had two (or more) invoice# related to that Customer ID.
If there is more than one customer ID fetched by the query, the above solution merges all the related invoice# in that variable and does not merge invoice# per Customer ID.
E.g.
Customer ID     Invoice ID
0001               P100
0001               P101
0002               P150
0002               P151
Desired Output
Customer ID     Invoice ID
0001               P100, P101
0002               P150, P151
Actual Output: The query merges as:
Customer ID     Invoice ID
0001               P100, P101, P150, P151
0002               P100, P101, P150, P151
and so on till the last customer ID is fetched.
Is it possible to tweak the query to obtain the Desired Output? Your help is appreciated.

Problem in accessing two different InitialContexts simultaneously

I have a strange problem the scenario is as below
I have two different web logic servers as server1 and server2
The Realm on server1 is user1 and password is pwd1
The Realm on server1 is user2 and password is pwd2
In my application on server1 I created the database connection with DataSource lookup by setting InitialContext values as java.naming.security.principal to user1 and java.naming.security.credentials to pwd1 and i have done some data base transaction .
In between i need to made a remote EJB call which is on server2 so i created an other
InitialContext by setting java.naming.security.principal to user2 and java.naming.security.credentials to pwd2 and this 2nd context i am closing after placing the HomeObject in a HashMap.
After completing the EJB call I have to continue the remaining database transactions by getting the connection from lookup.
Here i am getting the following error
*Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: Pool connect failed : java.lang.SecurityException: [Security:090398]Invalid Subject:user2*
If any one has faced the same problem or know the solution to this problem please help me in solving this.

The thread that establishes an initial context with a WLS server gets infected with the security credential of the initial context. Anything that thread does afterwards will be using that credential. A typical solution to this would be to obtain and cache the current subject on the thread before getting the second initial context, and then resume the subject when you need to go back to work with the first initial context. You may want to look into weblogic.Security.Security class for the APIs that you need to accomplish this.

Having two outlines open in JAPI?

Am I missing something here in this code? It seems if you try to open 2 outlines at the same time, internally both IEssCubeOutline objects point to the same object.
This is the output:
otl2 refers to: interNtl

But the first child of the Market dimension in the interNtl cube is US, not East.
The goal here is to create a dimension syncing routine. I've looked it over and over, seems clean. API bug?

I replicated your issue. Have you reported it to tech support?
As a workaround, perhaps you could open the outline, build a tree structure of some kind in Java for the first outline, then close it, open the second outline and process based on the tree structure in memory.

You suggested to save a page as an .html in Word.
This is what I did:
1. In Word I formated title as Heading 1.( Formating-->Styles and Formating)
2. Saved the page as an HTML file.
3. When I pasted this page into Dreamweaver <h1> TAG was displaced in the source code.
