Is it possible to restore music and videos deleted by itunes

as the title states is it?
today i updated my ipod touch to 1.1.5. and i have jailbroken it before but the jailbrake was gone so i decided to go and back up my music on my brother's laptop which already had itunes on my account of his laptop. but when i went to connect my ipod. i descovered all my music was gona and on the ipod section of the itunes. the memory staus of my ipod had all been noted as "others" and not "music" or "videos" like it usually does.
so with that being said. is there a way to restore the deleted music of my ipod?

1) Please use better English. I had to read your post 4 times before I understood what you were talking about. This made me not want to help you, but I'm going to try anyway.
2) You cannot copy music from your iPod onto your computer. This is because Apple doesn't want to be caught with lawsuits the same way as Napster and others did in the past.
3) If you copied music from your computer to your iPod without going through iTunes, it will be registered as "other" because it is noted as data space, not music space, same as if you copy documents or other stuff to use your iPod as a USB flash device. This is probably the root of your problem.
4) iPods (in general), as far as I know, do not know how to distinguish between music and non-music in their data space. Therefore, you will mot be able to play music copied to your iPod without going through iTunes. I don't know how Jailbreak works, but I presume it allows you to do this, which is likely the source of your confusion.
If you have all your music in your data space, which seems to be the case, here's something you can try (although no guarantees it'll work):
1) Go into iTunes, with your iPod plugged in.
2) Go into your iPod statistics (where it shows space usage, etc).
3) Check the box near the bottom that says "Enable Disk Use" or something like that.
Your iPod should then mount on your desktop and allow you to access it as a normal flash drive. If, indeed, your music is in your data space, you should be able to copy it to your computer.
If that doesn't work, I think you're SoL. This is why you shouldn't jailbreak your iPod.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Is it possible to transfer music/videos from one itunes account to a separate one?  I need to give my music and videos that I bought a grandchild to her for her ipad.

Is it possible to transfer music/videos from my itunes account to a grandchild (she will need her own account)  I bought her music and videos and let her play with my ipod touch.  Now she has an ipad.

No you cannot transfer purchases from one account to another account. Apple does not allow it and never has allowed it.
She can use you Apple ID on the device and switch between her ID and your ID, but that can cause problems at times and can become a bit of a pain.

My pc has crashed and lost a considerable amount of music and videos from iTunes the files are still in iTunes but are empty, will iTunes Match restore my content over the cloud?

Hm ... I guess I can't edit the post above. Anyway, I seem to have solved it by ...
    Quitting iTunes.
Going into Home / Music / iTunes, and renaming the file "iTunes Library.itl" to "iTunes Library (corrupt).itl".
Entering Time Machine, and restoring the "iTunes Library.itl" file from a few days ago. I went back two days, which seemed far enough back to be "before" the problem but not far enough back to have trouble with recent acquisitions.
Re-opening iTunes - and everything seemed to be back in order.
So that's fine for now. We'll see if the solution is stable.
Very, very tentative assignment of blame: I believe iTunes crashed earlier today after I'd synced photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, and then iTunes crashed while iPhoto was closing (and taking its sweet time doing so). If that was indeed the case, that's at least the second time in the past couple of months that trying to sync iPhone photos to iPhoto has caused me significant problems. (The last time led to 80% of my iPhone suddenly being occupied by "Other", and a full restore of the darn thing.)

  • Updated my ipad to the iOS 6.1.3, only apps, music and videos were restored?! HELP!!

I don't know if this is a stupid or noob problem, but I did the update and everything, then after it restored from my back up, i opened to see my ipad in factory settings?! I finished the setup and all, and then i saw all my apps not in the folders that they were meant to be in, no app data, no camera roll photoes, no background images and passcodes. So my ipad was pretty much restored and backed up onky with apps, music and videos. Nothing else!! In previous update+backup restores, the ipad just goes back to how it was before being updated, with everything in place like how it was originally. Later I also tried restoring again, form an earlier backup, but that did not work either. Someone please tell me what happened!!

Is this how the restore goes?

  • IPod Touch 2.0 Crashes 3rd Party Applications, Erases Music and Videos.

I don't know if this has been happening to some people. I hear it's mainly for FW 2.0.1, but I have 2.0 and I'm afraid to upgrade. Listen to this:
It's been over a little over a month since I upgraded my iPod to 2.0. I'm browsing through my apps from the AppStore. All of a sudden I open an application my iPod reboots, crashes. Not only that, but I had to wait at least 4min for the iPod to reboot. It *****.
After it finally reboot, I opened up a 3rd party application, it opens the main screen, and crashes, bringing me back to the SpringBoard.
This happens to all of my 3rd Party Apps.
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL: MY MUSIC AND VIDEOS HAVE BEEN ERASED.
When I plug the iPod into iTunes on my Mac, it thinks the iPod still has music and videos on it. It ***** having to restore every single day.
Please help me, anybody. I know this has been an issue for those with 2.0.1. Here are my questions:
-Should I be afraid to upgrade to 2.0.1?
-How can I stop the crashing of 3rd Party Apps, as well as the erase of music and videos?
-Can I do this, so I don't have to restore?
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thank you in advance,
    Xander2008

This is happening to a lot of people. Check out the discussions all the way back even prior to August.
No one seems to know the cause but there are many solutions offered to try. You will have to restore or do a full recovery depending on your situation. Again...lots of advice on how to do both in prior discussions.
Do not restore from a back up. Rather, set your ipod up as a new ipod and give it a new name. Begin by loading your music and videos etc. from your stored library on your pc. You'll find your itouch works like new.
Next before loading in any applications, review the app store pages selling each app and determine which ones have bugs and crashing issues they are working on or have corrected in their app updates. I've narrowed it down to possibly Advent, Aurora Feint or Converter in my case. We have over 90 free and purchased apps in our library but we have kept it to a bare minimum or 25-30 apps.
I've also read somewhere in these discussions that the larger mb apps could be at issue with the 2.0 and 2.0.1 updates and something to do with firmware updates? Sorry but I'm not real saavy with the technical side of it but i can tell you that between our two ipod touches we restored/recovered over 16 times from 8/04 to 8/10 because of crashes.
So far we've been lucky and have been up an running bug free for 3 days. Also, one app started acting strange after i tested it upon syncing so i connected back up to the pc and removed it...that's when i checked online and saw it too had crash issues they were working on.
They say you can have as many apps as you want on your itouch, so far i'm not testing that theory again...we're taking it slow and choose only what we really really want on our ipod...some say stay away from the gimmicky apps but we have a few on ours that are still working well, crazy lighter, iguide, itarot, campfire, magic8ball...so trust yourself and those that have provided info as well in previous discussions.
try to find the post from dbmandrake re workarounds for 2.0.1 app install crashes dated 8/9/08...it made sense and got me rolling again.

  • Backup + lost music and videos

I just purchased and installed the 2.0 software upgrade and lost all of my music and videos from my iPod Touch. I was under the impression that the backup that it performed was actually backing up what was on my iPod and that I wasn't actually going to lose everything. Did I completely misunderstand what was going on? Some of the songs and videos that I had on my iPod are on an external hard drive that has been corrupted and I don't know if I'll be able to even save them. I'd like to think that I haven't completely lost everything. Is there someway to access this "backup" that was performed? I'd like to think I didn't just pay ten dollars to wipe out my ipod.

Unfortunately, you pretty much paid $10 to wipe out your iPod. From what I have heard on these boards, the people who did get everything back during the restore were those folks who had all of their media in their local iTunes. Folks like you and me who had content on our iPods that was NOT in the local iTunes did not get back any media during the restore.
For us, the backup only backed up settings, notes, that sort of stuff. Did you get back your settings, at least? If you did, then I would say there's no way to get back the music. However, if you didn't get back anything - no notes, settings, bookmarks, etc - then maybe the restore didn't use your backup for some reason, and it's possible to find that backup and re-restore with it. Hopefully someone else can answer that bit for you, as I'm not sure how to select a specific backup to use for a restore. I know it's been posted about on here, though, in the past couple of weeks.

  • How do i share media (music and videos) between all of my devices?

i currently have (and attempt to use as much as possible) the following devices:  macbook pro 15", ipad 4, iphone 6 plus 64 GB, and appletv 2.
i would love it if these devices would talk to each other correctly.  first came the macbook, and i took an internal 2 tb drive cannibalized from my previous pc and transformed it into an external.  that drive is desinated as my media drive, it includes all of my video and music.  the macbook and the appletv talk to each other flawlessly.  every music and video file on that drive is accesible to me using apple tv.
next up is the ipad, which includes some of my videos (movies), but no tv shows.  music also does not show up, only options to buy from the store.  but i already have a music library that includes many songs downloaded from the store that dont show up, only some stupid U2 album that i never downloaded.
finally, we get to the iphone, which i just got.  i get no shared music or videos here at all.
by the way, all settings are set to share with each device in settings and itunes.  each device talks to one another.  i know this because there is some level of sharing on each device (ie ipad gets videos, iphone shares spreadsheets and other productivity files.  appletv shares everything.  i now want to sync these devices so that they can share the same data while on the same home network.  i should be able to do this, right?
also, i know that i can airdrop/transfer but thats not really what im looking to do atm.
    thanks

im more than a little disappointed here.  can anyone recommend another forum please?

  • Upgrading to 11.1.1 has wiped my ipad1 of all music and videos when synching. Please help

I am running Windows XP, have an ipad1 running IOS 5.1.1 and an ipod 5th gen 80gb video.
I have 6,000 songs in iTunes, podcasts, books, apps and numerous movies and videos both purchased from Apple Store and some home converted mp4s.
I upgraded to 11.1.1 5 days ago and since then, every time I have tried to sync my ipad as I add more videos, it has gone mad and on step 4 out of 5 of the synch process it hangs and then gives me a unknown error code -69 and not only does it not add any new video files, it removes existing ones that have always been there and I just get the grey dotted circle next to them now when I look at the ipad films directory.  Podcasts are fine.
I have fully restored the ipad, I have experimented with manually managing music and videos, I have tried to add the old 'always worked before' videos back, one by one but absolutely nothing works and since I did the restore, it now won't add ANY of my music files...I just get the error -69.
I connected my old faithful ipod instead to see what happened and exactly the same story.
Can I roll back a version of iTunes? What can I do? It's been maddening and I have spent 2 days trying to fix it.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions I can try. I see that many people here have had similar problems and turning wifi on the device off seemed to have helped - but I don't even have wifi on my ipod and it screwed that up.

    Hi there,
That's a point for a huge discussion... "EPMA may already be on its way out the door"
I thought that it is the other way round? That Oracle aims to stop using classic application and move everything to EPMA...

  • Need to get all the files, well music and video, from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary.

Need to get all the files, (well music and video), from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary. (So basically sync the other way to normal)
Laptop hard drive broke so had to buy a new one and obviously now need to sort out my itunes.
Did try downloading all my purchased stuff onto itunes but it has missed some things off, and there are some files I did not purchase from itunes so need a way of getting them back on there.
Sure this question has been asked a million times but can't find anything to help me on here so thought I'd ask.
-Did have a look at going onto the start menu and opening the hidden items thing but couldn't see any reference to ipod or device on it so wasn't sure how to do it that way.
-On itunes under my device when its connected, the section about manually restoring and backing up, would that help me? Because that says it will manually back up my ipod to my computer then could restore that back up, obviously I don't want to accidnetally get rid of everything on my ipod so didn't want to try that just in case without checking.
(And yes I have disabled auto sync to device when conncected!)
Can anyone help me please? Sorry if i've overcomplicated this!
    Thanks:)
    Chris

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

I have Mac itunes and a touch 2G.  My wife has Win7 and touch 4G (both iOS 4.2.1). She got a new iphone, I now have her touch 4G, and am trying to sync it to my Mac itunes.  The music and videos sync to the 4G, but apps & podcast will not. All are checked to sync.  During sync, it gets to "determining apps to sync"  then immediately goes to "finished syncing".   No apps or podcasts from my Mac itunes are on the touch 4G.

You can only sync to one iTunes library but you can manage music and videos among different computer/libraries.
It appears that you are trying to sync with a different library.
    - If you want to make the Mac you syncing computer:
--- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by:
    iOS: How to back up
--- Restore the iPod from that backup. Note that synced media like apps and music are not in included in the backup.
