Is it possible to restore one backup from LMS3.1 to LMS3.2?

We've installed LMS3.2 in our site but I would like to restore an old backup file from LMS3.1

Sure. Just restore the backup to the 3.2 server as you would normally restore a 3.2 backup. The code will handle the data migration.

  • Just updated to iOS 6, then iTunes auto synced and erased my backup. Is it possible to restore my backup from yesterday's Time Machine?

I have an iPhone 4, and waited a long time to update my iOS because I heard the new ones were buggy. Finally I had to update to iOS 6, but then iTunes automatically synced with my new phone and erased my backup. I lost everything on my phone.
    1) I have a Time Machine backup that I completed yesterday. If I take my phone to the Genius Bar tomorrow, will they be able to use it to recover my content?
    2) I have heard of this happening to a ton of people, how can Apple sit by and let this happen? (More of a rhetorical complaint than a question, feel free to ignore...)
    Thanks,
    Sarah.

    Hello rustyfeathers,
The backups certainly can be restored from Time Machine, and here is the location where they are:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

And in case you need some assistance with restoring from Time Machine, here is the article for that:

  • Is it possible to restore iCloud backup from iPhone3 to iPhone4 ?

I had an iPhone 3 which had an hardware error, but I have an older iCloud backup of it.
Now I got a used iPhone4 from a friend of mine, which he "cleaned" before he gave it to me.
This is the first time I got to use this service - thank god I made an iCloud backup before my old iPhone died.
Now I want to know if it is possible to restore my old iPhone 3 backup on my iPhone 4.
Maybe there are some problems, because of different iOS (6 vs 7) or different hardware?
Did the iCloud backup include my previously installed apps, or do I have to download them again? What about SMS - included or not?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Yes, you can.  The only requirement is that the device you are restoring the backup to must be running the same or higher version of iOS as the device that was backed up.  If it isn't, you'll need to update the iOS before you can restore the backup.
An iCloud backup will reinstall apps that were on the device that was backed up by redownloading them from the App store.  As long as the apps are still available in the App store they will be redownloaded, although if the device that was backed up had an older version of an app, the most recent version of the app is likely to be restored to your device.

  • Restore a backup from time machine

I made a clean install of Mountain Lion on the MB Pro of my wife from a bootable USB drive. All went well until I tried to retrieve data from her Time Machine backup that are stored on our Time Capsule HD. In setup, and later in migration assistant only the backup of my own MacBook Pro was found. Nevertheless the last backup of my wife's MB Pro, shortly before the clean install, finished succesfully. Also, I can see the sparsebundle in Finder and I can also mount it. I tried to repair the sparsebundle with no success. I have two questions. Firstly, what else can I try to make the backup available to Migration Assistant and secondly, is it possible to copy files and directories from the mounted sparsebundle as a last resort to retrieve the data that is visibly sitting there? Any help is most appreciated.
PS I copied the sparsebundle to an external USB disk in the hope that Migration Assistant would `see' it, again without success.

Thanks, Pondini, for the quick reply. I will try out your suggestions. I intended to do a full restore from the backup system. However, as I did already perform a clean ML install, the backup is no longer recognized by Time Machine as belonging to that MB Pro. So, if I click the TM icon nothing happens.
Apple doesn't make it clear, but that's not how you do a full system restore.  You start from your Recovery HD and use the option there, as detailed in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #14.  It doesn't matter what's on the OSX volume, since you're not running from it, and it will be erased before the backup is copied to it.
PS The repair I tried was based on the procedure explained onhttp://www.garth.org/archives/2011,08,27,169,fix-time-machine-sparsebundle-nas-b ased-backup-errors.html and the result of running fsck_hfs was that it could not be repaired.
Not a good sign.  That may be why Migration Assistant didn't recognize it.
It's possible a 3rd-party heavy-duty disk repair app, such as DiskWarrior, can fix it, but DW is about $100, and there's no guarantee it can fix the damage.
The full system restore might work, depending on where the damage is, but it's a crapshoot.  If you get far enough to see the list of backups, but restoring the most recent one fails, see #E8 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting
The attempt might have made a mess of the sparsebundle, but luckily I have a copy on an external hard disk. Is it possible to restore the backup from the external hard disk, despite the fact that the data are packed in a sparsebundle?
Yes, the full system restore, Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant can be used in that case. But most likely, the copy has the same damage as the original, so it's doubtful for that reason.
The Time Machine browser can also be used in that setup, if the backups aren't too badly damaged, but you must manually mount the sparse bundle first.  In your case, you'll probably need to use the Browse Other Backup Disks option, per #17 in the FAQ.   If the backups do appear that way, you can probably restore selected files and folders, unless you happen to hit the damaged spot(s).  It's a bit of a crapshoot, too.

  • Restore iPhone backup from somewhere else?

I'm using iTunes on my Macbook Air to access my iPhone. I have created a backup from my iPhone in there.
I was wondering how it is possible to restore that backup from any other Mac computers, like my iMac at home?

You asked whether the backup created with itunes on your Macbook Air would be accessible on your othe Mac computers and I answered that it would not be.  The backup for is kept in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/  Now you are asking a deferrent question about having ht ebackup on an external device... for that read this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3421834?start=0&tstart=0

    Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for this information.
I have the newest version of iOS 5.1.1 on my 3S. But I get the data from the last backup of my 3S. The programms are at the same level like the 4S.

How to restore one table from the previous backup in 9.2.0.8 version.

    Hi,
What is the table you want to restore?
Using export/import is supported with Oracle Apps database (for full database exp/imp, and certain schemas like custom ones). For the Apps schema, I believe it is not supported due to object dependencies and integrity constraints.

Hi Got an Ipod which is broken and will be replaced - can I restore a backup from the old ipod to the replacement one to recover all my music, apps, contacts, messages etc?

You can restore from your iTunes backup. See:

However, synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Is it possible to restore my iPhone from both iCloud AND iTunes?

    Hi there,
Is it possible to restore my iPhone from both iCloud AND iTunes?
I backed up phone to iCloud only (not iTunes... yea Im a dummy)  and when I restored everything was great except my music and pictures never came back! I did get a fraction of my pictures though... maybe 40 out of 1000. I synced with iTunes and now have my music back but almost no pics.
Shall I just erase all setting/content and  try again to restore from iCloud and then sync with iTunes? It just takes so long so I thought I'd ask to see if anyone had a better idea. I miss my pics.... D*mn iCloud
    Thanks so much!
    Lekha

    Welcome to Apple Communities
Yes, you can restore from an iCloud backup and sync with iTunes. Probably you won't recover all your photos with iCloud backup because you can only recover photos taken in your iPhone. When you sync your iPhone in iTunes, you will have your music and photos

  • Problem Restoring iTunes backup from DVD

I've searched and haven't seemed to find an answer to my particular issue, so if this has been asked and answered apologies. Here's my situation:
I am able to backup my entire library on my windows computer to move everything over to my imac. During the backup I didn't get any error messages. I restore the backup from DVD but for some reason one of the disks just will not restore and I have to keep skipping it. I can open it up and I see the files there, compilation folder with songe folders inside, some audio books, an album or two purchased from iTunes and a few albums from CDs that I actually own the physical media. I presume something is corrupted but don't know what.
My question is this: has anyone else experienced a similar situation and if so, were you able to get the disk to restore? If not, is there a way that I can select just the items from this bad disk to backup so that I don't have to do the entire back up again? As previously mentioned, I can browse the "bad" DVD and can see the items and folders? At the very least, I'd like to backup and restore the itunes purchased music and audio books and compilations; the other items I can just import from the cds that I own.
Thanks...I'm really getting frustrated after having tried this five or six times.

can somebody help i/m basically having the same problem but my error message says an unknown error occurred

  • How do I restore one contact from my Time Machine?

How do I restore one contact from my Time Machine?

    From Time Machine Help:
Restore items backed up with Time Machine
If you use Time Machine to back up your Mac, you can easily bring back lost items or recover older versions of files.
You can use Time Machine within many apps. If the iCloud Documents & Data feature is turned on, you can recover older versions of iCloud documents as well as regular documents.
Open a window for the item you want to restore. For example, if you accidentally deleted a file from your Documents folder, open the Documents folder. To recover an email message, open your inbox in Mail. To recover an iCloud document, open the document’s app, choose File > Open, then click iCloud to view the iCloud documents for that app.
If you’re missing an item from the desktop, you don’t need to open a window.
From the Time Machine menu in the menu bar, choose Enter Time Machine. A message may appear while your Mac connects to the backup disk.
Use the arrows and timeline to browse the snapshots and backups.White tick marks represent snapshots stored on your internal drive (portable computers only). Pink tick marks represent backups stored on your backup disk. If a tick mark appears dimmed or grayed, there’s no backup available or the backup disk is not connected.
For more information about an item, double-click it.The windows in Time Machine behave just like Finder windows, so you can open folders, click items in the sidebar, and use the search field in the upper-right corner of the window.
When you find the item you want to restore, select it, then click Restore. You can restore individual items, multiple items, folders, or your entire hard disk. The restored item is returned to its original location. For example, if the item was found in the Documents folder, it is returned to the Documents folder.
Many apps let you use Time Machine within individual documents so you can examine and read the document’s past versions to find the version you want. For more information, see:
View and restore past versions of documents
