Is it possible to restore recent history information once it has been cleared?

One of my kids cleared her search history by mistake and would dearly love to have it back. Is it possible to restore it once it has been deleted?

Not unless you have made a backup of your profile...

in the Tools tab, there is a Clear Recent History function. In this, you can choose the time stipulant which you would like to be cleared... Once this is done, how can I recover the Recent history to see what has been browsed?

Once deleted it can not be recovered.

  • Is it possible to recover safari browsing history after history has been cleared?

I have a 2012 iMac running Mavericks OSX 10.9.4 with a Seagate Backup Plus connected with Time Machine. I would like to restore safari browsing history to view some web pages from about two weeks ago. Safari history has been cleared. I think I need the history cache and or the history.plist but I'm not sure. I have 2 data recovery apps. One is Stellar Phoenix Mac data recovery and the other is Seagate file recovery for Mac. I just don't know if those are the correct files and if they may still be somewhere that they can be found in a still usable form.
I have searched this question on the web and found several answers that had step by step instructions on how to accomplish the task but none of the methods actually worked. The claims were all talking about older operating systems however.
Can anyone help? Is it possible?

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    ~/Library/Safari
    Quit Safari.
    Select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window should open. Restore the file named "History.plist" in that folder from a snapshot taken on the day in question, or the first available day afterwards.

  • Is there a relatively easy way to view deleted safari history or pages viewed for an iphone? Browser has been cleared, cookies have been cleared, but I'm wondering if the information is still accessible in my phone somehow?

As I say, internet has been cleared, and under settings, the advanced cookies & history has also been cleared. Is there an easy way of viewing this info again?
Also, the "private browsing" option, is there a way of disabling it or at least having that option password protected?
And what is "web inspector"? Is that something that I can set up on my pc that will monitor iphone activity?
    Thanks!

I'm concerned about restoring my phone, I'm not exactly computer savvy, and there are some game apps on my phone that I'd be afraid of deleting.
Just wondered if there was another way?
If doing a restore is the only way, would someone be able to tell me how to do it and whether or not I will have a heck of a time getting all my info & apps back onto my phone afterwards?
    Thanks!
How does this relate to your first post?
Are you talking about restoring as new? or restoring to a backup?
    Why are you restoring?
If it is to recover History  and you think that you have a backup that contains the missing history you could restore to that. Doing this will restore your iPad to the state that it was in at the time of the backup, Apps, Games, etc.
Note that there are PC and Mac applicatons that can read iPad backup files and extract information. Check the internet for these. I do no know if they extract Safari History.

If you had backed up your iPad prior to deleting the Safari history, that history should be in the last backup.

Is it possible to block an ipod touch when it has been stolen ?

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format"

I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format". Can someone please help me sort this problem, it's so frustrating!!!!!!

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.

  • HT1414 I am unable to restore my device as my ipad has been disabled.

I am unable to restore my device as my ipad has been disabled. This was caused by enetering the incorrect security code too many times. However, i know that security code entered was in fact correct so do not understand why it would not unlock.

No i actually locked my screen straight away after creating the code just to test it. That's what makes it so frustrating is that there is no way the code i entered was wrong. I ended up trying 0000 incase their was a sort of default code but nothing. When setting up the code you have to enter it twice to make sure you don't make an error, so i know i have been entering the right code.

From the Finder, click the Apple logo at top left, choose About This Mac and then from the window that opens choose System Report.
Scroll down to the Software heading and in the System Siftware overview, you'll see Time since boot.

  • I received my new Iphone 6 last week, backed my iphone 5 and then restored my new handset.  It has been working fine until today when I deletec all my contacts from my old handset.  Contacts have gone from my new handset too, how do I get them back?

I received my new iphone 6 last week, backed my iphone 5 and then restored my new handset.  It has been working fine until today when I deleted all my contacts from my old handset.  Contacts have gone from my new handset too, how do I get them back?  I don't think the back up was done using icloud as I keep getting the message "not enough memory"

The point is not whether you used iTunes or iCloud to restore your new iPhone. It's whether you have Contacts turned on in Settings > ICloud. If you do on both your old iPhone and new iPhone then those devices are connected through iCloud. Deletions on one device are also made on the other.
You may be able to restore your Contacts be using your old device backup to restore your new iPhone again. Make sure that you turn Off ICloud functionality on your old iPhone before you delete anything else from it.

Cookie settings are correct;history, cookies and cache have been cleared.Still some sites say I need to enable cookies.

You need to enable third-party cookies if you want to logout from Hotmail. If you do not want to enable third-party cookies (I don't) then you need to remove the live.login and passport.net cookies yourself.

  • How can I recover/restore recent history after it's been deleted?

My daughter deleted recent history. My Facebook account has a layer of protection that stored my computer information. When she deleted the history, Facebook no longer is able to detect my computer and I am not able to log into Facebook. How can I recover or restore the history (everything)?

index.dat is not one of the files used by Firefox, that is for Internet Explorer. You may need to contact Facebook to get access to your account again.
Once history and cookies are deleted in Firefox they can not be recovered.
