Is it possible to run AnyConnect VPN from an XP Virtual Machine

I am trying to setup my ASA firewall to accept AnyConnect VPN connections from an XP client running in VMware ESXi 5.1.
Does anyone know if this is even possible?
If this helps any - from an internal XP Virtual Machine, I can run ASDM to manage the firewall.
ASA IOS 9.2(2)
ASDM 7.2(2)
In my physical environment:
I have proven my VPN setup is functional between the ASA and physical XP laptop.
The physical laptop running XP can make a successful AnyConnect VPN connection to the ASA. This VPN session works as expected as I can access the LAN and all servers on the inside LAN of the ASA once the VPN session is established.
Thank you
Frank

Hi Jody,
My vm XP and physical XP attributes are identical BUT do not match yours.
Not sure what this means? :-|
Any ideas?
BTW, my XP clients are operating as standalone; I.E. no Windows domain.

  • Is it possible to run an application from a user or container login script?

Is it possible to run an application from a user login script or a container login script?
A "Force Run" application object works fine if the user's workstation is setup to auto-load "Application Window" or "Application Explorer" but in this case I'd like to run an application when someone does a manual login (ie. they right-click red "N" and choose "Novell Login...")
Using a User Package's "Scheduled Action Policy" and the Event=Login also does not work when a user logs in manually. This type of Event seems to only apply when the user first logs into the workstation, not at a manual login.
    Thanks,

Is it possible to run BBC iPlayer from an iPhone4 through AirPlay to Apple TV2 please? I keep getting the message "An error occured loading this content. Please try again later"

First, try a system reset on the iPod.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If that doesn't work, reset the Apple TV.  I'm not at mine right now and I'm talking from memory but the reset is somewhere in the Settings menu.

  • Is it possible to run Rules/Seq from SmartView while connected to Essbase?

Is it possible to run rules/sequences from SmartView while connected to Essbase URL in 9.3.1 version?
Current environment does not have planning and we have to run rules while connecting to Essbase.
    Using http://<<ServerName>>:9080/aps/SmartView URL.
There seems to be no way we can do it. Referred to DBAG, Planning and SV document but not mentioned.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
If you have attached you business rules to Essbase database connection in EAS, you should see them under Calculation Options. If you attached only Planning connection, you will have to connect to Planning in Smartview to execute business rules.
Else, you will see only calculation scripts attached to the Essbase application.
Let me know if it helps.
    Cheers

  • Is it possible to run VLM and lmtools on the same machine

hi together ... is it possible to run VLM and lmtools on the same machine without any problems?
the running system will be Windows Server 2008 R2 x64! maybe we will install the license server on the virtual server.

    Hi SvenNittmann,
in general, it should be possible to run both tools (VLM and lmtools for FlexNet) on the same machine. But I wouldn't recommend you this way, because NI VLM is also build on top of FlexNet and sometimes you will receive ugly problems with the installation of both tools on the same PC. It is possible to use VLM in a virtual machine without any problems or restrictions. NI provides information about the usage of VLM in a virtual machine, like you can see here:
Volume License Manager on a Virtual Machine - National Instruments
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/5730FDDC97F9157E8625755F00749CFF?OpenDocument
I also use VLM in a virtual machine and I could recommend you the same solution.

  • Is it possible to run a report from another machine?

Lets say you design a report on machine A that contains the CR Developer Software Package.
Is it possible to execute the report from machine B that does not contain CR Developer Package?
Is there tool or a command that you can run that will execute the report created in machine A?
    Thanks in advance,
    Zack H.

Crystal Enterprise (or BOE) will run a report developed on machine A and imported to a repository on the CE/BOE machine.  Is that what you mean?  Or, I suppose anything that can run a Crystal Report given the file name could run it if the UNC path is given for the file name (assuming database connections are set up on the running machine)...

  • Exit codes from the Java Virtual machine

    Hi,
I've been asked to write a C wrapper program on UNIX and Windows which launches java (or java.exe) with the appropriate command line options and jar files to run an application.
    So far so good.
However, I can't find any documentation saying how the status code returned by java or java.exe is constituted. e.g. How do you tell an error returned by the virtual machine, such as NoClassDefFoundError due to a missing jar or entry point, from a status code returned by a running Java application?
Are the possible status codes returned by the JVM documented anywhere? Are they the same on UNIX and Windows? Should the Java application use a particular range of return status codes so they don't collide with the JVM's own?
Thanks in advance for any pointers on the subject.

Ah, I see, you're asking what if any existing codes are returned by the JVM implementation.Yep, that's it. I need to know that if the application chooses to use System.Exit to return (say) status code 2 meaning "your print job is queued", that the JVM won't ever return 2 meaning "couldn't find your application jar files" or some other generic condition outside the application's control.
I can move the application's return codes into a specific value range, as long as I can find one that is guaranteed safe for JVMs on both UNIX and Windows. Sounds like that's a bit optimistic. Thanks for the source code suggestion, but don't really have control over the customers' choice of JVM.

  • Recognizing hardware from a Windows virtual machine hosted on Linux

    Hi,
I would like to isntall windows in a virtual machine run from linux, and run my labview vi's and do aquisition from there.  I tried once using a virtualized Windows XP 32-bit on ubuntu 64-bit, with Virtualbox, but the windows installation didn't recognize my PCI-MIO-16E-4 card.  Maybe its because I didn't have the linux drivers installed.. I don't know.  Soon I will begin using a the 7853R FPGA with the PXI-1036 Chassis, and would prefer if my virutalized Windows installation could see this hardware.
Has anyone gone through the steps of using NI hardware from a virtual Windows installation?  Either Virtualbox, Xen,  Vmware, or whatever..
    Thanks,
    -Sidney
    NI Hardware: PXI-7853R, PCI-5122, PCI-6733, PXI-1036, PCI-MIO-16E-4, PCI-6110
Computer Hardware: Xeon Quad Core - 2.33 Ghz, 8 GB RAM
    Software: Labview 2009, Labview FPGA 2009, Vista 64-bit, MAX 4.6, DAQmx 9.0, NI-SCOPE 3.5
    Solved!

    Hi Sidney,
I see that this thread is a bit old, but I still have something to add. I know for a fact that VirtualBox, VMWare and VirtualPC won't let a guest OS see any real PCI card installed on the host computer. However, you might have better luck with Xen. There are options in Xen which allows you to pass PCI devices forward to guest OS's. People have gotten pretty far with using PCI forwarding that they have even managed to run Windows Vista with full hardware acceleration with Aero as a guest operating system. The only requirement is for your CPU to have virtualization support, i.e. the vmx or svm flag. The only catch is, Xen is significantly harder to set up.
I haven't tried this myself, and I am not from the LabVIEW group, and I am by no means authorative on this topic (don't let my signature fool you).
If you manage to get this to work, we would be interested to hear from you!

  • Running osX as guest OS in virtual machines

Hi! I just bought a macbook pro 13, and i would like to run osX as guest OS on some virtual machine (vmware, virtualbox, whatever)
I think it is legally allowed (i have both apple hardware, and a regular software license for osX), and it was possible on powerpc (maconlinux worked just flawlessy). I think it should be even easier on osX.
But i noticed on vmware site that osX is not one of the supported guest OS. Have anyone tried to do this? thanks in advance,

I think it is legally allowed
It isn't, except for Mac OS X Server 10.5.

  • Should I have to run a firewall or antivirus under virtual machines if the host iMac already has them running? Thanks!

I am learning my way around my new iMac (after using PC's ever since there first WERE PC's). In addtion to using the Mac OS, I am running two virtual machines (Windows XP Pro and Windows 7) during the transition and learning phase.
I am running with a firewall and antivirus on the iMac. Should I run an additional firewall and antivirus while in the virtual machines? Or is this completely unneeded? Thank you!

You really don't need the firewall or anti-virus software for OS X, and it won't protect a virtual machine. The VMs will need their own anti-virus software and protection for each VM.

  • How to boot from SCSI in Virtual Machine

    hi
i have VM's in Hyper V windows server 2012 data center edition.
i want to boot from SCSI drive for performance enhancement.
but when i select scsi then it doesnt boot and says boot failure no boot device found.
also tried with bios settings of VM but there is no option to select boot from SCSI.
so can anyone help me how to make it happen???
how to boot from SCSI drive in VM???
    thnx
    istiaq

Generation 1 virtual machines cannot boot from the virtual SCSI chain and 2012 does not support Generation 2 VMs. There is no meaningful performance difference between the virtual IDE and SCSI controllers anyway.

  • Is it possible to run an action from an acrobat javascript

I'd like to run an action created in the "Action Wizard", from a javascript.
    Is it possible?
Otherwise I need a way to save a pdf from javascript, with the same settings as set up in the action (downsample images and discarding objects).
    Can that be done?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

Thanks for confirming that actions can not be started from Acrobat javascript.
The suggestion to use preflight for optimized save has been done on a couple of questions similar to mine, but never explained in detail, so I'll just add some detail, while exploring it:
I didn't know where to find the PDFOptimizer settings for preflight in Acrobat Pro XI, but it's here:
    1. Show the "Print production" pane, by checking it in the small foldout menu in the top of the right hand menu.
    2. Under Print production click Preflight.
    3. from the Options menu in the top right corner of the Preflight window, select Create new preflight profile.
    4. Under "Fixups" you will find many of the Save optimized PDF options, such as Downsample images, and discard object.
