Is it possible to run multiple versions of Safari?

With the latest versions of Datatel UIWeb (Datatel is a vertical market publisher of higher education data management tools and they barely even acknowledge the existence of Apple) it's hit or miss whether it will run inside Safari4, doesn't matter the dot extension. Datatel will only support Safari 3.
Is it possible to also install the most recent version of Safari 3 alongside Safari 4 so that my users can have one browser that will work with Datatel and a current Safari for everything else? And where can I find instructions on how to do this (and also a copy of Safari 3)?
Thanks,
Rob

I thought setting the user agent just made the browser masquerade as a different version? I don't think that's the problem.

  • Run multiple versions of Java

    Hi,
We run Oracle 12.1.3, Business Objects, Agile and a few bank applications that all require different versions of Java.
What is the best way to run multiple versions of Java on one laptop so our users can access all of the Java based applications?
Business Objects requires Java 6, and the bank application require Java 8.
    Thank you.

Given that that's been possible for over a decade, there's no need for such "tools". All you need is knowledge of your operating system.

  • Running multiple versions of iTunes on the same PC?

I like to always have the latest version of iTunes on my machine, but I also need to keep an older version (7.5 or lower) on my machine for compatibility reasons (please don't ask why - I just do). Is it possible to install multiple versions of iTunes on the same PC (using XP and/or Vista)? If this is not possible by simply installing in different folders, I'm guessing that I can use this "virtualization" that I've been hearing about. I've used Parallels on a Macbook before, but what can I use to create a virtual machine on a PC? Is there a free program that does this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Virtual PC can do it, but it's not free. I think VMware as well, but likely not free. Actually, it seems you can evaluate VMware:

  • Is it possible to run dual versions of firefox?

there are add ons and features i need from a previous version of firefox, but firefox 4 also has quite a few nifty add ons as well. is it possible to run dual sessions of firefox using different version? boot from usb hasnt worked (well, ok, it worked, but it started as ff4...), maybe theres something else i can try?

    Yes, see ...
Using multiple profiles - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_multiple_profiles_-_Firefox
But from what you indicate they might still be good extensions where it is simply a matter of the maxVersion not being updated. First check the following...
Go to the add-ons web page at addons.mozilla.com then find your add-on then check to see if what is there is compatible and if it is the same version as you are trying to use. Also go down to the bottom of your add-on's page and click on the "View all Versions" to see if there is something pending for your version of Firefox listed as "Experimental".
Check the developer and user comments to see if there is a solution.

  • Possible to run different versions of OSX on same internal HD in iMac?

    Hi All,
I am a Pro Tools user, and Pro Tools is usually many weeks/months behind in supporting the latest builds of OSX. So while the rest of my computing needs would benefit from immediate upgrade when the newest OSX build is out (i.e. better network performance, security enhancements, etc.) I'm often warned by Digidesign not to upgrade until they've certified Pro Tools works with the newest build.
So I want to buy an iMac with a large hard drive, and I'm wondering if this is possible: can I partition that hard drive and run 2 versions of OSX on it? Initially they'll be the same build (10.5.5 or .6 whichever it comes with) but on one partition will be all of my programs minus Pro Tools, the other one will only have Pro Tools. I'll upgrade one partition regularly to the newest version, but keep the other partition to the last approved OSX build by Digidesign.
Is such a thing possible? How would I choose to boot from the other partition, by holding ALT at startup just like I do when I want to boot from an external firewire HD? Would I have to buy a second license of OSX?
    Thanks!

A new mac, that came with leopard won't be able to boot to 10.4.11. You will be able to view the files on the external, but many programs when opened, e.g. address book, will say that they are not supported on this architecture.

If this is a separate partition that has an install of OS 9, you will not be able to boot from it. Again, you will be able to view files and even fewer (if any) files will be supported. If you have used an app like monoligual to remove old architecture support then you definitely won't be able to run the apps.
I have little experience with OS 9.
If OS 9 is not on a separate partition then I am not quite sure what you mean.

  • Running two versions of Safari

The 1.3.2 version of Safari that I'm running on OS X (10.4.9) is not compatible with the Blackboard classroom application that I need to access for a conference next week. The Blackboard website offers no solution. Is it possible to download an older Safari version while keeping the newer version? If yes, how do I download an older version, where do I find it, and where should both versions be stored? If no, what might be the issues involved in replacing a newer version with an older version?

    G5 Dual   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I access Blackboard fairly regularly with no issues, and I use Safari. What version does it say you need? Currently, I am using the Safari Beta with no problem. But before that I used Safari version 2. Does your version of Safari have a debug menu? If so you could try using the user agent, and selecting the browser the site calls for under that. Strange your running the latest version of OSX, but an old version of Safari. You could also download a free application called Tinker tool and enable the debug menu if it is not there.
Thanks for the advice, Hawaiian_Starman. The
Blackboard site is very specific about which versions
of Safari or Firefox it supports. Some of the oldest
versions are unsupported, but so, too, are some of
the newest. I will study the links you included, and
I will try the install DVD tomorrow. I'll let you
    know how it all works.
Again, many thanks for the ideas.

  • Can you run multiple versions of Message  on one computer, i.e. one for each phone line on our account?

Does anyone know if you can run more than one Message+ on one computer, one for each of our phones?

        CATTULLOS
Great question! The way to do it is, you will need to open up multiple browsers. (one for each phone number) The only thing you would need to do is log into www.vzw.com for each individual number to be able to send the text messages. Keep us posted let us know if this helps.

  • Is it possible to run two versions of fcpx ?

    Hi there,
I am running fcpx ver 10.08 and my OS is Mountain Lion 10.8.5.
After upgrsding to Maverick, can I run both fcpx 10.0.8 the 10.1 ? If I can, then I do not need to update/convert the existing projects and events library to the new structure ...
    Thanks

Hi there, I saw some youtube video, it says that after we update, FCPX will ask:
"Do you want to move the old projects and events to the trash ?
If you no longer need the old versions of your updated projects and events, click Move to Trash, To save them, click Save"
    So, the question are:
    1) if we click Save, our old Events folder and Projects folder will be saved in another folder ?
    2) if we click save, will this cause our disk drive to be doubled ?
    3) does this mean this is another chance to copy/backup the old Events folder and Projects folder ?
    4) after clicking Save, where will the files be saved ?
    5) after clicking Save, will the files in the Events folder and Projects folder be in hte form of old/exisiting structure or new structure ?
    Thanks

  • Starting Multiple Versions of Weblogic

    Hi,
Is it possible to run multiple versions of weblogic concurrently ?
I have 8.1 and 9.2 on my server.
Whenever I login to the console in 9.2, my console in 8.1 will be logged out.
If yes, please let me know the steps to take if able.

    Hi,
Yes, you can use multiple versions of weblogic concurrently.
However the issue you are facing is because the browser keeps the session of the previous logged in WLS version and when you try to log in to the other version of WLS it first close the old sessions and then open the new session.
Try to use 2 different browsers say log in in WLS 9.2 using Firefox and WLS 8.1 using IE/Chrome you would notice that it would work just fine. And if you want to use only one browser then now days you have an option as "Private Browsering" in FF and Chrome which would also solve this problem.

  • Install multiple versions

Is it possible to install multiple versions of Safari for Windows at the same time?

You would need separate machines with Windows and the Safari version you were trying to test installed, or separate, bootable partitions with different versions of Safari on each partition.

I basically have an Ada executable and Labview executable that currently run on a Sun Machine with Solaris as the operating system.  I'm re-architecting the system hardware and will be getting rid of the Sun Machine and Solaris.  I'm don't have any issues with the Ada executable, but I'm not sure what configurations Labview supports.

  • Can not run multiple firefox windows with version 4

After the upgrade to FF4 the problem started happening. In ver 3 I used the profile manager and was able to run 2 firefox windows at the same time with no problems in Windows 7.
Now when I try to do this with version 4, one firefox window errors out with 'firefox stopped working'
I thought it was due to an incompatible add on or something, so I did a complete program removal, rebooted, cleaned the registry and removed all folders that firefox put on my system. The problem continues.

You can only run multiple version at the same time if the next version is started with the -no-remote switch added to the command line in the desktop shortcut.
    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox XX\firefox.exe" -no-remote -P

  • Multiple versions on one box

    Hi
Could someone help me with the below questions.
We have multiple MaxDB databases running on one box for EC and BW. There is  a requirement to upgrade the BW database software, to do this do I have to upgrade the other databases on the box? Though my OS is Linux, I would also like to know the possibilities in windows environement.
If we can have multiple versions of databases on one box, are there any known problems. If the database version are different, how does the common services or executables work (eg:- I understand that there is only on XSERVER per box) and which folders are updated (is it only "database_dependent_path" or "independent_program_path" as well)?
    Please advise
    Thanks

    Hi,
    1. "Do I have to upgrade the other databases on the box?" -- It depends on your software and instance setup. If the multiple instances are installed under different directories. For e.g., the two instances 773 and 763 are installed under different directories on my PC:
    > dbmcli db_enum
    773     C:\sapdb\773\db                         7.7.03.16       fast    running
    763     C:\sapdb\763\db                         7.6.03.06       fast    offline
    > dbmcli inst_enum
    7.7.03.16    C:\sapdb\773\db
    7.6.03.06    C:\sapdb\763\db
If the EC and BW instances are installed under different directories, you can upgrade them independently of each other. This behavior is similar on all OS.
    2. There are no known problems running multiple versions of databases on one box. When you update one instance, the database_dependent_path is updated. If the independent_program_path contains programs of an older version or build, it is updated as well.
    Hope this helps,
    Ashwath
