Is it possible to run two applications at the same time on ipad.

Hi,
I would like to know of it is possible to play media apps (movies or bbc iplayer programs) while surfing the Internet with safari on ipad2. Even if I can't actually see the video while I'm surfing the net but can still hear it and can jump between the Internet and the movie without the movie stopping.
Somehow I think the answer to this is no but then I also thought it wasn't possible to do print screen images with ipad until someone showed me how.
Can anyone help?

Prior to iOS 6, it was possible to "multitask" with some media like playing audio from YouTube video while playing a game or surfing the web, but it changed in iOS 6.
There are always a few surprises in major iOS releases, so who knows, it might work again in iOS 7. I never set my expectations for anything other than what Apple talks about publicly, but like I said, you never know.

thanks for your answer. Yes indeed HTML widgets run only full screen (snif snif). I consider this as a "distinguishing treatment".
One solution i read !!!!! was to create through keynote a countdown clock, to export to quicktime move and to imported at iBA predefined widgets. of course this is not the solution i need.
So, in order to have at the same widget and run together a count down clock and a preview test (20 questions) i must
1)"hack" the preview widget and insert a countdown clock
2) create a preview test using iAD.....

I want to know how i can run two VIs at the same time.
I mean that i want to run a second VI ( N.2) while another VI (N.1) is in
execution without suspend it (N.1)

If you say "run a vi", I assume that you have the VI open in LabVIEW, then press the run button. (Some of the earlier answers taks about programmatically calling VIs, which I don't think is the focus of your question)
You can run as many VIs as you want at the same time. Simply press the run button of the second VI and they will both run.
Of course you should ensure that they don't use the same resources (e.g. DAQ device, or listen on the same TCP port, etc.) In these cases, the second VI might fail. (Also if the second VI is a subVI of the first VI, you won't be able to run it seperately, because it will be already running.)

MacBook Pro Freezes while using more than two applications at the same time

Over the last two weeks my MBP has been freezing every time i use two or more applications at the same time. For e.g. my whole system freezes from time to time when i use itunes and safari at the same time. This problem never existed before and has just started recently and is really annoying. What can i do to fix it?

Rather than re-installing Safari have you tried simply "Resetting" it (head to "Reset safari" under the "Safari" menu). It is possible that something in your user folder that supports Safari is really the cause of the problem. Re-installing Safari won't deal with this, but re-setting it can.
In fact the first thing you should try is simply choosing "Empty cache..". If your cache files are corrupted then this in itself could explain the behaviour.
If you choose to do the Reset first try it with just "Empty cache" and "remove all website icons" selected. This will reduce the amount that you will "lose" in the process. (Cookies, history, etc). Add in additional options if the first attempt doesn't fix it.

Can i run two PIDs at the same time?

I want to control speed of the rotating shaft and force applied by the pneumatic cylinder using two different PIDs from the same program.
I managed to get two PIDs to work separatly using PID control loop VI`s supplied with labview 6.1 (I got Kc, I and D right, so there is no overshoot). When I try to run both PIDs within my vi they don`t work. I again tried various gains and managed to get one PID to work but not the other. Then through trial and error I managed to get a second PID to work but I had to change refresh time of the FOR loop from 100msec to 1msec.
Does anyone have experience with running two PIDs in the same program? Does the timing of the FOR loop influence PID contorller? Does equiring of other data while
running PID has effect on the PID?
I would really appreciate any comments/help. I am pretty thrustrated at this time

I don't know whcih PID vi's you are using but I had similar problems. I
solved it by going to the VI properties of the PID subvi, select category
execution and make sure that reentrant execution is selected. Only then two
instances of the PID vi can run without interfering each other.

How can we launch the labview screen beyond other screens while running two applications on a same time

Hi all,
I need to run two applications in my system at same time. one of the application is labview. it is running in backside. the dialog boxes which i created in labveiew need to display in fron of all applications.... what should i do to do that.....any suggestions...

The easiest thing to do (but can be bad) is to make the LabVIEW window modal. This will make it the front most window at all times, until the program stops executing. As you can imagine if you don't have a way to close the window then you will be forced to kill LabVIEW through the taskmanager.
To make window modal go to VI Properties (by right clicking the VI's icon) go to Window Appearance, click Customize, then under Window Behavior select Modal.
The other more complicated solution is to use Dll calls to bring the window to the front.

Two applications at the same time on M200?

On the Amazon site (and other places I'm sure) it says about the M200:
"With the optional Tablet Multi Dock station, you can plug in an external keyboard and monitor allowing you to run two different applications on separate screens at the same time."
I've read through the documentation for both my M200 and the multidock and it doesn't seem to say how you do this. It seems odd when this is claimed to be a special thing you can do with the M200, that it doesn't say how you do it! Could someone enlighten me please?

I agree with Juan. Using tabletmultidock2 you can use many ports that are available there and all external devices can be connected on to docking station. There is also select bay drive. Like you know on every PC or notebook you can start a few different applications but using external monitor you can watch and control two of them at the same time using extended desktop option.
Preinstalled TOSHIBA Mobile Extension tool allow you to adapt the right view on the external monitor. Before you can do this enable Display Change Service.
Dear perplexed it is possible to manage it to work on the way that you want. I have saw it for a long time but I can not remember any more how it works. Please check all settings in Display Change Service tab (Mobile Extension) and under other tools (tablet settings and rotation utility).

Running two EXE at the same time

I have two EXE.
I cannot run both at the same time.
What should I am doing wrong?

Yes, these are two different applications with different names.
I double-click on the first EXE and I see the start-up form. Good so far.
I double-click on the second EXE and I don't see the start-up form. Instead the "icon" for the first EXE in the taskbar flashes.
I am running Visual Basic Express 2010.
Are these some settings for the compile that I should be using?
Individually the two EXEs work fine.

How can I run other applications at the same time as downloading email

When I open my computer if I check mail on entourage first and there are 30+ messages I can not use other apps at the same time as the mail is downloading, is there a way to have email operating in the background. Curiously if I am using another application and a mail comes in , the first app runs with mail running in the background , Why is this not the case when Entourage is the first program running and it is downloading mail.

The app Spaces keeps me from using two applications at the same time.

I set up Spaces but now experience a bad side-effect. When I need to have Two files/folders/whatever in use because I want to place something from X into Y, I cannot do it because Spaces only lets One application on the desktop at the time; it shoos all the other applications away, and in doing so, it takes away the thing that I wanted to place into the new application that swooshed onto my desktop when I pressed its corresponding square in the Spaces icon in the top control panel.
How can I arrange it so that I can keep Two or three applications available for me to do transfers from one to another?

Ferrell, I have done what you suggested. I clicked onto the Spaces icon in the upper control panel and assigned spaces to six apps: Mail, Safari, iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, and iWeb.
The problem is that if I am one app and I want to put something into that app, then the minute my mouse cursor goes to get that other thing, the original application into which I want the thing put GETS WHOOSHED OFF THE DESKTOP. What I want is for the original app to remain open whilst I go to retrieve a file or folder, and stay open while I put that thing into the original app.
How does one turn off Spaces? I don't mean to delete all the names from the settings.I mean, just turn it off for a while so I can do something which requires for two apps to be open at the same time????

"Newbie" Unable to run two actions at the same time please help

I'm a newbie (2 weeks) on Labview, so I hope my problem will sound easy for some of you.
I want to read a file and at the same time get the reading from my sensors (4 sensors).
My program is working when I do each thing in a different program but when I add them the program only read the text file and stop reading the sensor signals...I attach the program file.
The goal is with the text file to add an exact time for each sensor signal I record.
Is there any other possibilities to include a time with the sensors signals recorded ? I need to do this to synchronize the sensors values with CAM program.

from a glance at your code, it appears that you have nested a loop to read your file, inside a loop to read your sensors. this means the nested loop to read your file must finish before the outside loop to read your sensors can run through another iteration. what you want to do is separate the two loops to run independently of each other (in parallel). use a global variable to know when to stop the loop (if they need to stop at the same time) and if you need to pass data between the loops use a queue (easiest) or you can also use globals with semaphores.

Run two vi at the same time

I WANT TO HAVE A VI RUNNING (WHILE LOOP, COLLECTING DA DATA, OPERATING AN ACTIVE TEST, ETC.) AND WHILE THAT IS GOING ON, OPEN ANOTHER VI (FROM WITHIN THE MAIN PROGRAM) TO DO SOME SEPERATE FUNCTION (PRINT OUT A LOG REPORT, PREVIOUS TEST RESULTS, ETC.). BUT EVERY TIME I OPEN ANOTHER VI's WINDOW, THE MAIN PROGRAM WINDOW's WHILE LOOP STOPS LOOPING.
I AM SURE IT IS JUST A SIMPLE SETTING, BUT SO FAR HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE RIGHT SETTING OR AN EXAMPLE OF TWO VI LOOPING AT THE SAME TIME.

I HAVE ATTACHED A ZIPPED FILE CONTAINING TWO SAMPLE FILES (CARL1MAIN.VI AND CARL1SUB.VI) THAT SHOW WHAT I WAS TRYING TO DO. I HAVE BEEN USING TEST POINT AND HAVE RECENTLY SWITCHED OVER TO LABVIEW, SO I AM STILL LEARNING. I TOOK BOTH BASIC COURSES (AND SCHEDULING ADVANCED COURSES IN LABVIEW). BUT BECAUSE OF THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LABVIEW AND TEST POINT, I MIGHT BE STRUCTURING THIS WRONG.

Is It Possible To Run 2 Routers At The Same Time.

This might be the dumbest question of all time but I am not computer savy. My two wireless PCs operate beautifully on my Linksys WRT54G. If, when I get the MacBook Pro, and for some strange reason I have connection proglems, can I get one of the airports and set it up just for the Mac. Read all sorts of problems of PCs not connecting to the Airports properly. I might be overly concerned but I don't have an Apple Store near me. I am driving 200 miles to Charlotte to justr try out and buy the Mac.

You can put two routers on the same network, but you have to set them up correctly. You can put one of them in bridge mode, which means it will just act as an access point for the primary router, but won't do any routing itself. The second way is to set up a double NAT, with one router handling the Internet connection to the outside world and the second router handling the local network.
