Is it possible to search multilingual fields?

I would think this would be an obvious thing Data Manager should be able to do, but I cannot figure it out. Using the Free-Form search, I want to be able to search all languages of a specific field. For example I have a Description field setup as Multilingual, I am logging into Data Manager in English, but I want to be able to execute a search and have it search the Description in every langauge for a specific value, so that if there is a certain German word I'm looking for, it would find it even if it is not in the English description. I would be amazed if this is not possible.

Hi Ryan,
If you want to search for any field value in any language then you have to log on to the repository into that language only.
The other case possible is: Your multi valued field does not have a value in the language, you are logged in with and it is your primary language inherits the value from other language, then you can search it.

For information, JFW perform lookup directly to the active directory.
what is strange is the lookup by telephone number works with CUPC 8 but not with jabber, and I didn't find any configuration guide regarding this.

Respect to above code, I can list my values. And when I want to try 'H*' for Name field, I am getting error as : "Not possible to restrict with search pattern here"
But, If I don't pass FIELD_TAB table, I don't get error. I need to pass this table for another reason. But also I need to search for name and surname fields.

    Thank you for your response. Yes, that is an option I was thinking of as an alternative.
    I want to display to the user the User_Addrs selection-window, with the names. Once they choose the multiple-selection list of names, I want them to be able to save the user address and the associated first/last names in the variant.
    The selection screen can be cut down to possibly one less selection-field: by combining the first/last name...but the update to screen-fields would likely still be a problem.

I would like to know whether is it possible to search for a particular field name from the complete database?
Say, for example, I would like to search for the field value 'oxford' present anywhere in the database and in any of the tables and in any columns.

Possible to Search for a Calendar

Somehow I ended up with Calendars named "Untitled", "Untitled 2" and "Untitled 3". I don't know how these showed up and don't know what events could be associated with them. Don't want to just delete these Calendars without knowing what they have in them.
Is it possible to search for all events within a particular Calendar? Or maybe organize/sort events by Calendar?

Enter the " character in the iCal Search field which is located in the upper right hand corner of the iCal window. When you do that you will be presented with a results pane in the bottom of the iCal window. The results pane will have four columns at the top (Calendar/Date/Type/Title). Click on the "Calendar" column to see the results organized by specific calendars.
Alternately, you can (⌘ + click) on any calendar in the "CALENDARS" source pane to deselect all calendars, then the calendar that you want to display, and enter the " character in the search field. That will display only the entries associated with that particular calendar.
As a side note, the search field has a magnifying glass icon with a small down arrow which can be used to specify what items to search in.

Searching Custom fields Bridge CS3

I created a custom file info dialog box in Bridge CS3 using the audio data 1.txt file located @ C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels. I just modified the fields in that panel to my own custom fields.
Now I saved as test.txt in the same location as the audio data 1.txt file- and my new custom panel shows up in the metadata panel and I can add values to my custom fields as I would any other. My question is - how do I search these fields as they do not show up in the filter panel- Is it possible to have these fields show up in the filter panel?

If you go to the metadata panel in Bridge you see

etc...
Take "Audio Data 1" for example
I modified that .txt file so that where the field was Artist- I changed it to Sport
So now I can add
Baseball in the sport field so my custom panel looks like this
Sport: Baseball
Team: Wildcats
Player; JG
Position: CF
my question really is- about the filter panel- the Sport, Team, Player, Position fields do not show up in there, instead Artist, Album, and Genre show up in the filter panel. and When you click on the dropdown box for Artist it reads baseball- I need to change the Artist to Sport just like in the metadata panel so in the future these custom fields can be searched

I am not sure whether this will be listed in SPAU during upgrade.
Yes, you didnt require access key to change field positions, add/delete search help parameters which are available in selection method i.e database/view fields for search help.
This change effect the search help assigned to data eleements and tables assigned in SAP, so be caution before doing the change. If your change is specific to a particular instance then go for append search help. Copy the search help and provide this search help as new tab to your standard search help.

One parameter to search two fields

Is it possible to have one parameter set up to search 2 fields e.g.
forename+surname like @Name so that the parameter value can search both forename and surname boxes. This is so you can either put in a forename or surname or part of a forename or surname and the correct results will appear.

EDIT Action in POWL is disabled for performance reasons. It is possible to activate that button there.
Regarding EDIT button in SC Detail, this function is a standard behaviour where SRM allows the creator/requestor to pull the cart back from approval by using EDIT button.
If you do not want the users to use this button, Go ahead and Disable the button by Class and Method. Make sure you disable the action EDIT only when USER = (CREATOR or REQUESTOR) AND Status of Cart = Awaiting Approval. If you disable it for all users, Approvers will have tough time apprving the carts

Can a Lookup Window be used to search multiple fields w/o clicking Advanced

In our setup in R18, if a user clicks the magnifying glass to see the Lookup Window, it defaults to searching on one field -- let's say last name. Unfortunately, if they search for a common last name, like "Smith", they may get hundreds of results. Had they used the Action Bar search, they could have used first and last name and gotten much closer to the result they want (if not the specific result they wanted).
I'd like to avoid having the users click Advanced as: 1) they then have a myriad of fields to choose from, and 2) not everyone will be an expert in using "and" and "or".
If they could just use the Lookup Window they same way as the Action Bar, I'd be happy. Maybe I have it misconfigured? As it is, when I open the Lookup Window, the drop down shows the same fields I have in the Action Bar, but when I click Advanced, the fields are all blank. That's unlike the Action Bar Advanced link which pre-populates the fields I can search on.

It is not possible to search on multiple fields in lookup windows without going to the Advanced tab. Your suggestions are valid. Have you considered creating an enhancement request?

Is it possible to add PERNR field to MIGO or MB1A transaction screens?

Ours is a service industry with @ 10000 employees and we have implemented SAP with MM & HR module. We issue uniforms to all the employees when they join (new Joinee) and again once in January every year as reissuance. We intend to keep size information in employee masters in HR along with station code, designation, department and cost centers.
At present we are using two fields goods recipient and unloading point to mention employee code and type of issue (new joinee or reissuance). This is because employee code (PERNR) field is not there in MIGO_GI screen or MB1A screen.
Is it possible to add PERNR field to any of these transaction screens?
If added then we can fetch the relevant information about issuance of information along with station code, designation, department in Z report.
If possible, then how it can be done?

as i understand we can add new fields in a transaction through user exit /field exit. so please discuss with your ABAP consultant & try to find out all the exit available for MIGO/ MB1A. then you have to decide which one will suit you. here you have to consider some factors like whether you need to enter values in the field or the field needs to fatch any value from any other table & should populate here.
the ABAPer can then write the code & add your required logic here.
i am not very good in this subject. just tried to share what ever i knew.

This table determines the GL accounts assigned when inventory is moved between plants. Is it possible to add another column to the left hand side? I would add the receiving plantu2019s VGCd, if possible. Even better would be a profit center group (1100 for all 11xx profit centers for example).

On a transfer, the accounting treatment is different when the move is within the same division VS when it goes to another division.
When plant 1101 ships to plant 1102, we donu2019t want to post to account 360100. When plant 1101 ships to plant 1301, we do want to post to 360100. Having the receiving profit center group in the mix will enable this distinction.

Is it possible to search for multiple folders with the same name and then select them all and change the permissions on just those folders .i.e. Search for the budget folders in all client folders and lock them down to just the project managers. Without having to go to each folder and apply the permissions.

Searching a Field In Source or Target Message in Message Mapping

I came accross this peculiar behaviour and it keeps bugging me , I could search any field in source or target message in message mapping in PI 7.0 by copying the path( /ns1:MaestroAcreedores/Acreedores/ClaveDeGrupo or any idoc field /FIDCCP02/IDOC/E1FIKPF/BUDAT ) but in PI 7.1 i cant , its giving me an error String /ns1:MaestroAcreedores/Acreedores/ClaveDeGrupo not found , i can only search the field independently.Can anyone please help me out in this.

I am not sure whether it worked in 7.0 or not, but having checked myself i can confirm that it is not working in 7.1 in my system also.
For alternative, you can check by changing into source text view where it will display as xml. Here when you search the keyword, it would display you the hierarchy better than normal view.
I dont think there is any other alternative. although I would say in the worst case scenario you would not have more than 10-15 occurrences of same element in an idoc.
