Is it possible to separate audio tracks and/or timecode on clips in browser

I transcoded my AF100 clips with log and transfer and came out with all my audio in stereo tracks. There are two separate tracks corresponding to the two mics but they are linked. I know I can separate them one by one on my timeline, but I'm wondering if there's away to select all the clips and do the same thing in my browser, since I have to do the same thing to ALL my hundreds of clips.
Similarly, I made audio tracks without timecode for my transcribers. Now I have to go in and set an auxiliary timecode starting at 00 for all my clips. I'm wondering if there's a way to do that for all the clips at once. I wish I had set the camera to start the timecode at 00 for each clip, but I didn't think of that in time.
Thanks in advance for any help. This forum saves my life!

I don't know much about your business except what you've said but my first impression is that you are way over-thinking and over-producing; your situation is unnecessarily complicated.
I am finishing to DVD. I tried before production to figure out the best way to get these clips to my transcribers ASAP- the start to finish on this project is very short, and it was taking too long to compress clips stamped with TC and the Pro Res clips I am making via Log and Trasfer are huge and don't play well on every computer (all of my trasncribers are on PCs) Also, they are all in a country other than the one I was producing in, so getting them Pro-Res clips would have meant mailing lots of drives internationally. The easiest way to get the transcribers the clips turned out to be using Drop Box to send them audio clips. If you still think I'm over producing, do tell- I'm def not one who enjoys over-anything and if there is a more minimalist approach I'd love to know!
You can, of course, create actions or macros, if you understand the programming, to run batch processing but only if all of the files can be processed in the same way.
So, is there any way to set auxiliary timecodes OR to separate audio tracks on every single clip in my browser?
And is there a way to get Log and Transfer to create clips that don't have the audio in stereo?
Thanks

  • How to import 2 separate audio tracks and keep them separate?

I need advice about importing two separate simultaneous audio tracks and keeping them separate. I am importing footage from my Sony PDX-10 DV Cam.
In the field I had wireless microphones on two people, a man and woman. I interviewed them separately. The man was on channel 1 and the woman was on channel 2.
While shooting the man, for example, I could also hear the open mic of the woman who was maybe a block away talking to some friends. But her distracting sound was on CH 2 and in playback on the camera, if I dial down the volume of CH 2, I no longer hear the woman and I have a clean audio track, Ch 1, of the man who is being filmed.
I'm trying to import the interviews into iMovies with only the relevant track turned up and the distracting track turned down. When I listen to the audio from the camera on my headsets, I can get clean sound of just the person who is on camera. But the FIREWIRE seems to grab both tracks, even though in playback i'm listening only to the clean track.
Does anyone know how I can send just one audio track to IMovie? Any way to prevent the Firewire from importing both Ch 1 and Ch 2 at the same time?
I only want the sound that's relevant to the person who is on camera. And I know that in the camera, it's possible to listen to just the track from one channel. I'm hearing just one track through the headsets, because I can sucessfully dial down the other track. That's the way I want to import the footage to iMovie. But the FIrewire seems to grab all the sound it can find and carry over both CH 1 and CH 2, which means I'm left with a jumble of sound that is not useful.
And finally, if the firewire needs to grab both tracks, is there a way to assign them to two separate tracks in iMovie, so I can then simply turn one of the tracks off?

    nope.
iM handles the two stereo-channels as "one track", and offers 3 tracks of stereo.. (the one inside the video, 2 additional tracks...)
    I would... :
    * export clip(s) share/Quicktime/Expert Settings/aiff..
    * in a designated audio processor (Garageband, Audacity, ...) seperate the two channels, creating two "new" ones, stereo, where one channel is located in the stereo middle..
    * import these two "stereo" files into iM, into Track2 and Track 3 ...

  • How do you export separate audio tracks for Pro Tools?

I need to give separate audio tracks to my sound mixer but am confused on how to do so in FCP X.
    So far I've:
Set the dialogue roles and stems for each character
Then I went into Master File>Settings
    Selected:
    "Format: Audio Only"
    "Audio File Format: Wav File"
"Roles as: Audio only as separate files"
    "Dialogue"
    Sara
    "Stereo"
And when I export and listen back to the wav file, there is either no audio or I hear select dialogue.
The only thing I can think of that I am doing wrong, is that each characters dialogue is not on the same track like the picture below. The tracks highlighted is of one character's dialogue that I am trying to export onto one linear track to export into Pro Tools.
Can tracks be assigned in FCP X? Or is there a crucial step that I am forgetting tthat explains why the audio for each character is not being exported.
    Thanks!

If you're dumping audio for ProTools, you should be able to export XML for use in PT. Haven't done it myself, but the option's been there for a while now. You should be able to find instructions easily.
If you want to stick with making Roles work, I suggest making sure the roles are assigned properly to each clip. Kind of a super pain in the neck, to go one by one, but ... that's the way. There are key commands for the three default roles, but if you've created custom ones then it's more time consuming. Is that 'Sara' one a custom Role that you've created?
My only thought is you have compound audio clips there. Maybe go in and set the roles on the individual files inside the compound clips. Dunno...
The visual organization shouldn't matter (one track above another). That's the X way.
((In your picture, you say you have some files selected. When I select, I get a yellow border; yours are light green and dark green. What is that?))

  • No visual of separate audio tracks

In the beginning, iMovie opens. I see picture and hear audio from the imported footage.
The audio exists in the video track. Then, I drag audio from GarageBand to the separate audio tracks. But wait!
In timeline view I don't see the visible presentation of the audio tracks. It is blank.
However, I can hear the audio that I have just dragged to the invisible audio tracks. I 'undo' the audio drag, and there is no audio to be heard on the separate tracks (so, I know I have some control over the audio).
But, there are no distinguishable tracks.
    The area is blank.
The audio tracks are audible, and not visible.
It's as if the programmer forgot to put in the thing that tells the machine to show the tracks.
    What's up doc?
P.S. Maybe we should get things right before we move onto other things.

    Hi Wayne:
Try deleting the imovie preference file. Locate a file named com.apple.imovie.plist and get rid of it. Then empty the trash, run a permissions repair with disk utility and restart. That should do it. The files you need to delete are found in:
    /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist
Then try this list (compliments of P.T.Patrick):
*Run MacJanitor (free download) to do all the Unix Cron Maintenance scripts.
*Run Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities) and repair disk permissions on your start up drive (typically your internal drive). Also verify any other drives mounted on the system.
*Run Preferential Treatment (free download) to check for corrupt/damaged application and system preference files.
*Run Cache Out X (free download) to clear all system and application caches.
    *Reboot your Mac.

  • Can you generate separate audio tracks from a Multi-Output Instrument?

Is there a way to use the "export all tracks as audio files" function and have the multi-output assignments generate separate audio tracks? There doesn't appear to be a way to do this.
    Ideas?

I think you'll need to bounce them out, or record them via busses...

  • Import 2 separate audio tracks

If I import into FCP off of a camera that recorded two separate audio tracks, why aren't they separate?
On Ch2 I used the nat sound mic and I used a separate mic on Ch1 to record interviews. They were definately different when I was listening on my headphones, but now both Mono tracks, 1 & 2, are the same. The nat sound is way too loud.
    Any advice?

It's pretty simple. IF you captured as channel 1 and channel 2 audio (not stereo) FCP set them up as mono tracks that are both panned to the center in the stereo field. To get a more discrete listening experience, pan one to the left and the other to the right.
Unless you are an audio whiz, it does not make sense to use both of those tracks in your final mix, because you risk phasing problems, where one track tends to cancel out parts of the other.

  • No visual presentation of the two separate audio tracks

I originally had iMovie 4. Then I installed iMovie 6.
I am able to see and hear audio in the video track, but I cannot see any visual indication that I have audio in the 2 separate audio tracks.
I can hear the audio that I import from Garage Band, but there is no visual presentation.
To simplify, there is no indication that there is a place for audio tracks when I am in the time line view.
But, I can hear the audio when I import it.
Also, I cannot 'drag & drop' the audio file, yet I can 'apply' it to the playhead.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Sue:
    Thanks for the reply.
I did what you requested, but I have the same situation.
The entire audio track graphic does not exist.
But, I can drop audio into the 'invisible' track and hear it.
The Pro Care guy I see does not know what's happening either.
If you have any other ideas, please let me know...

  • Is there a way to get an iPod touch to play one audio track and stop.

Is there a way to get an iPad to play one audio track and stop.
I work in education and particularly music. Teachers are looking to create a playlist of selected track but only want the selected track to play then stop.
This allows them to talk to the class during presentation and not worry about having to stop playback mid discussion.
I've been successful doing this from appleTVs homeshared to a library by unchecking songs in the playlist. But It would be useful to instructors who have there own media on their device.

Thanks for a cognative answer TXMark.
For what its worth to any readers that work in education and would like this play once and stop 'feature'
I had great success in homeshareing a iTunes library of teaching material and creating topic specific playlist and used apple remote app to control an appletv connected to that homeshared library. As TXMark suggests, uncheck the songs in iTunes and the media will not automatically play the tracks in sequence.
note: if you have video media that you would like to have in the playlist, be sure its listed as a music video in the options of get info of track. otherwise the apple tv will not see the media in the playlist and will put it in the movies section of the library.

The only way to stop after a song is to create a playlist consisting of only that song.

    Hello,
Yes, add such effects using the insert slots on the track strip.
Click on the slot, choose your plugin from the list. Double click to bring up its control window to set parameters.

  • How to separate Audio tracks

    Hi there
Yes, I know I'm a community expert so you mighty be wondering why one would be asking here, but not for Premeire Elements. This app is new to me!
I have a clip I've inserted into PE that was recorded with some odd stereo effect. I'm hoping there is an easy way to listen to each side of the stereo independently, decide which is the more pleasing of the two, then remove either the left channel or the right and fill in the opposite channel with the same audio.
I've unlinked the audio from the video but am unsure how to proceed from there.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
    Cheers... Rick

    Rick,
Not sure how I managed to do this in PE, but I managed to delete the existing audio track and bring back in the modified one.
I'm not sure either. Maybe brute force and a chisle to the monitor... ?
The easiest way, for next time, is to Import that new PCM/WAV into the Project with Get Media>Folders & Files. Then, Alt+click (you are on PC, aren't you?) on the original Audio Clip (or Audio Stream of a muxed file), and Delete. Then, drag your recently Imported PCM/WAV from the Project Panel to the now empty Audio Track, where the Deleted Audio Clip was. If you have Snap ON (the S key toggles that), as you get the Head of the PCM/WAV replacement file near that of the Video Clip, the Audio will "snap" ito place.
Glad that it worked for you.
As stated earlier, PE certainly lacks any form of being intuitive to use. I'm really shocked this is aimed at consumers! Couple that with the, ummm "less than stellar" help system and you really have a (cough) winning combo there!
Most of us here are in complete agreement with you. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful MOD, Steve Grisetti, who is also a prolific author, and most of his books are how to do things in PrElements (and PSElements in two cases). Steve has also done a Basic Training Series of tutorials and articles on Muvipix.com, a Web site that he co-founded. After one finishes with that, he has a complete Learning Series of tutorials and articles, though those are available by subscription to the site. The Basic Training Series is free.
Most subscribers here point to those, the books and tutorial series, to help new users get going. Of all the Adobe programs, that could benefit from a manual, PrE is definitely one. With PrPro, the user often has a good background in NLE video work, so it's easier to use the Help Files, as they are looking for how PrPro differs from, say AVID. With PrE, the user is often very fresh to NLE work, and so many show up here totally lost. I'd love to see Adobe strike a deal with Steve, to include a copy of his PrE book with every copy!
Good luck, and glad that we could help,
    Hunt

  • Separate Audio Track Selection Menu

So i'm working on a fitness video, Which has a dialogue audio track and a music audio track. I've made 2 audio files, one stereo mix with both music and dialogue. and another mono track with just dialogue. The point is so that people working out at home can choose between using the default music, or using their own music live playing from another source. So what i have created so far, is just a main menu, that has a play button that plays the show with the main stereo track. What i want to do, is create a sub menu with the 2 choices, "without music, or with music" and once you click them it brings you back to the main menu, where you have to click the play main movie button. I could spend a bunch of time trying to tinker around and figure this out. But if someone could just guide me in the right direction that would be fantastic.

Duplicate your "main menu" and call it "No Music Menu".   Now when you go to your sub menu, have the button for "no music" target to the "No Music Menu"
Create a new track that is your "No Music Track".
On your "No Music Menu" select the Play button and change its target to your "No Music Track".

  • Gettin audio track and instrument in time.

i have logic pro 7.2 but when i import an audio track and then try to create an audio instrument in the matrix edit i cannot seem to get the audio instrument in time with the audio track and they both hav the same bpm. so cannot anyone help me plz im sure its a simple thing 2 do

Presuming the tempos are a spot on match, then It's all about locking the first downbeat of the audio to the track, in this example ( a drum loop ) the orange anchor point is locked to the first kick drum of the audio in the sample editor, so no matter where I drop the audio, it'll always be in time.
If the start point is not as clearly defined, the just move the anchor around till it sounds right.
