Is it possible to set this network up?

I have been trying different things for about 2 or 3 weeks now, and I cant seem to get this network to work how I want it. I am starting to think its impossible.
So with that said, ideally this is how I would like things to work.
I have a PC (running XP), printer, Macbook, two stereo systems, two airport expresses (one old and one new) and a wireless linksys router which is hooked up to various electronics in the living room via cable.
My macbook pro is no issue, it hooks up wirelessly just fine.
Airport 1 is in the living room. It is hooked up to the router via cable, and to the surround sound system I have in the living room.
Airport 2 is in the bedroom. I would like it hooked up to the bedroom speakers, the printer, and the PC. Problem is, my PC refuses to work with wireless network cards, so it has to be hooked up via cable.
So is this somehow possible? Two different speakers for airtunes, wired connection provided by airport 2, and a printer?
I have had semi-success with this, but I just cant get it to fully work. I can get the router to work fine, and I can get airport 1 to work fine. Airport 2 is where I have the issues. Some days I can get it to work how I want it for maybe 10 minutes. Other days I can get one or two things to work. Yet some days I cant get any of it to work at all.
So anyone have any ideas? Is it even possible? Any help is appreciated.

Hello Zpilot21. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
There are a couple ways to do this:
1) Connect the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) to the router by Ethernet. Configure both the AXn and the 802.11b/g AirPort Express Base Station (AX) static WDS, or
2) Connect the AX to the router by Ethernet, and then, configure the AXn as an Ethernet bridge. Apple calls this a ProxySTA.
In either configuration, the AX (located in the bedroom) would have its Ethernet port active for Internet connectivity.
The first option would extend the wireless network created by the first AX, but has the major disadvantage of the bandwidth penalty to support operating a WDS. The second option would not provide wireless at the 2nd AX ... only Ethernet, but can still share a printer or support iTunes streaming.

    But Software Update won't be an available setting choice.
    But I'd turn off automatic Updates anyway, & just check once a week or once a month to see what's available.

    I have a problem on my TestStand 4.2 platform, with test step result, formed and received from called external sequences results. In my Main sequence, in Post-Expression I defined condition, according to which the "Step.Result.Status" is passed or failed, and it works. But the problem is that in Status Expression field there is following statement: "(Step.Result.Status == "Done" && (Step.TS.SData.ThreadOpt == 0 || Step.TS.SData.ThreadOpt == 3)) ? "Passed" : Step.Result.Status". After deep search in the user manual, I found that (Note from "Expression Tab - Step Properties Dialog Box"): "Certain types of steps, such as Numeric Limit Tests, Multiple Numeric Limit Tests, String Value Tests, Pass/Fail Tests, and Statement steps, reserve one or more of these expressions to perform operations specific to the type of step or a substep performs the operation. In these cases, you cannot use the expressions the step type reserves, which appear dimmed on the tab." 
    Now, my problem is that at this specific step I call to an external sequence, which returns results and it is correct, but if these results, compared to expected are not the same, my step in the main sequence fails. Which is OK. But when the final report is generated I see there "Number of Tests Failed: 0", which is not OK. Since I can't change the "Step.Result.Status == Done", which comes from the external sequence, I thought that may be there is a place to change the "Step.TS.SData.ThreadOpt" and this way to cause to main sequence to correctly report "Failed Tests <> 0"??? 
    Does anyone has an idea whether it is possible to set this the ThreadOpt value and what is the accepted range?

    Maybe I misunderstood. When you said "My normal process is to set it to 1, but based on this info, it needs to be either set to None or Use Remote Computer if you want anything other than "Done" to be returned." I thought you meant that you were setting the property directly rather than setting your sequence call steps to "New Thread" with the combobox.

    for example, when a user types "wiki.company.com/groups/wikigroup" it takes you directly to the wiki page. at the top right corner, you see 2 links: 1 for wiki and 1 for blog.
    is it possible to set this up where if the user types in the URL above, it takes them straight to the blog section?
    after doing some research on my own, i don't see how this is possible but i wanted to double-check here to confirm my hypothesis.

    unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
    i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
    unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
    factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
    connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
    create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
    login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
    add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

    I have a Hyper-V R2 Test box with 2 NICs. The setting 'Allow management operating system to share this network adapter' was enabled by default on the virtual network that was created as part of adding the Hyper-V role. I configured the virtual network to use the 2nd physical NIC on the box that will be dedicated for VM traffic.
    I know that best practise recommends isolating the traffic for host management, and virtual machines between different NICs if possible.
    Interestingly, when i unchecked the 'Allow management operating system to share this network adapter' checkbox, one my of my NICs (the one configured for VM traffic) immediately disappears from view in the list of network adapters. At the same time, wiping the static TCP/IP config I have applied to the NIC. Only the virtual switch and management connections remain visible. If i re-enable the above setting, the missing network adapter re-appears but with its previous statically set config wiped.
    Q1 Is this expected behaviour?
    Q2 In Hyper-V version 1.0, this setting doesn't exist. As such, does that mean the operating system would share the network adapter by default and cannot be disabled from doing so? I assume this is the case, as all of the network adapters are present/visible on the same server, and in the absence of this setting.

    It is not that things are hidden - in fact part of the confusion is that too much is shown - it is that they are moved.
    Lets go back to the beginning (I am going to describe R2):
    If you have a host with two nics and zero External networks - in Network Connections you will see two interfaces.
    Go into the Virtual Network Manager and create an External Virtual Network and bind it to NIC 2 - do not select the option for the management OS to share the network.
    If you look at Network connections you still see two interfaces, but NIC 2 is now bound to the virtual network protocol - it is dedicated to being a port of the External Network.
    This is what happens when you attach a physical NIC to an External Network - it becomes an extension of the External Network - the hypervisor owns it - the management OS does not.
    Now - modify the External Virtual Network and turn on the option to share with the management OS.
    If you look at Network Connections you will see a new (third) interface.
    kThis new interface is a soft interface tht is only exposed to the management OS by the hypervisor - it is a virtual NIC that is attached to the External Network - thus allowing the management OS to share the physical NIC 2 with all the other 'domains'.
    In the hypervisor language a 'domain' is a generic way to describe a system managed by the hypervisor - the parent (managemetn os) is domain 0 (dom0) and any VMs are domain 1 through n.  Therefore the management OS doe snot own the hardware, the hypervisor does - the management OS just handles managing the VMs and making sure they all play well with each other as well as creation and description, and managing networking and storage.   But it is really a special VM.

    You can use iCloud to share the Calendar, that way she will always be up to date on that particular section of your work calendar. If you want to use iCloud, I would recommend backing up so you have a safe copy of your data.

    In addition to RyanJC's comments, the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) can store up to five different http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108081 configuration profiles. You will need to use the AirPort Utility to create & save these profiles.
    To create a new profile:
    Open AirPort Utility, select your AX from the list, and then, click "Manual Setup."
    From the AirPort Utility menu, select "Base Station," and then "Manage Profiles."
    Click "+" to create a new profile; give it a name, and then, click OK.
    Set options, such as network name, passwords, Internet connection method, etc.
    When done setting the options, click Update.
    To switch profiles:
    Open the AirPort Utility, select your AX from the list, and then, click "Manual Setup."
    From the AirPort Utility menu, select "Base Station," and then "Manage Profiles."
    Click on the desired profile, and then, click OK to apply the new profile and restart the AX.
    Just remember to switch to the desired configuration profile before removing power from the AX.

    I'm going to take apart my current network that is based on a CISCO router and make it into a roaming network based on the components listed below. I'm going to set the network up using a Mac.
    Airport Extreme N (one of the earlier ones) - to be used as the main router
    Airport Express N - to be used on the other side of my house to extend the length of my network, and to connect the Express to a HP printer so I can put the printer on the network. It will not be connected via ethernet cable.
    D-Link Gigabit Switch - will connect to the Airport Extreme to provide additional ports for other devices
    ATT Cellphone Extender - we get poor reception at my house so I needed to get one of these
    Verizon Wireless Cellphone Extender - we get poor reception at my house so I needed to get one of these
    Xbox 360 - wireless
    Blu Ray player - wireless
    AppleTV - wireless
    Several Mac and PC computers wireless and wired
    CAT 6 cables - to connect my D-Link to my Extreme and to connect my ATT and Verizon wireless cellphone extenders to ethernet ports

    You appear to have all the necessary equipment. However, note that what you are proposing is not a form of a roaming network. That is because, a roaming network requires that all wireless routers/wireless access points be connected by Ethernet. Instead you are describing an extended wireless network.

    Yes, the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) would need to be configured for Wireless Mode: Extend a wireless network, and the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) would need to be configured such that the option: Allow this network to be extended, is enabled. Yes, this configuration would also allow you to share a printer to any client connected to either base station.
    3. The Express will be located on the other side of my house, so the signal will already be somewhat weaker there, though there is nowhere conveinet to plug the Express into ethernet. Am I wasting my time by extending the network this way since the signal is already weaker by the time it gets to the Express?
    Potentially, due to the signal strength at the location you propose to place the AXn is not sufficient, the AXn cannot "boost" the bandwidth only the signal strength. What you will find is that wireless clients will "see" a strong signal, but have relatively poor data transfer rates. You may want to consider using Powerline adapters if you can't run Ethernet between the AEBSn & AXn. These type of adapters take advantage of your home's electrical circuit to create a pseudo Ethernet one. You can then configure both base stations for a roaming network and not have to be concerned about the signal strength.

    It can be done with analog but not digital thanks to "good 'ol" HDCP copy protection which apple (and most other manufacturers) unfortunately respect.
    So you can take the analog output from your cable box (component -- 5 cables -- if it has it but generally they all have composite -- 3 cables) and feed it into some kind of converter or into some appropriate pci card for your mac pro.  But none of them are going to let you directly use the HDMI output from the box to your computer.
    Bottom line, no single cord is going to work and it will never be the higher quality digital picture you get on your tv.
    Some qualification:  There are boxes that I think support hdmi input.  Look at Blackmagic.  But I still don't think you can get around the HDCP from the cable box (might depend on the kind of cable box).

    I have a laptop with wireless (rt2500) and wired nic. Both work fine, but I am in a situation where I need to connect the wireless to one network, and the wired to another network. (Wireless to the internet, and wired to small home network). Im not trying to bridge them. I can set this up pretty easily, just using DHCP for both the wireless and wired, but after 15 minutes to an hour, requests I make on the wireless side try going over the wired network.
    I tried fix it by:
    route add -net 10.18.0.0 netmask 255.255.0.0 ra0
    route add -net 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 eth0
    but still after a half hour or so the requests I make on wireless (internet) try going over the wired interface.
    Any ideas on how to keep these two interfaces associated with their respective networks?

    I just had an AHA moment and think I solved my problem.
    route -n gives me

    So both eth0 and ra0 have destinations to the 0.0.0.0 network. Thats no good because only ra0 really goes to the internet. so I just did
    route del -net 0.0.0.0 eth0
    So now

    The ability to do that would depend on the type of email account that you have. If it is a POP account, it cannot be done. If it is an IMAP account, it should sync across devices automatically. If you are not sure what type of account it is, who is your email provider?

    I want to set up an OS X 10.9 server to be able to manage the macs with open directory. The macs have already been bound to the windows Active Directory, and the users are logging in using network authentication.
    Is there a way to set this up so the requests are sent through the mac server, authenticated with the active directory then managed by open directory?

    Yes!  Of course!  This is one of the foundational functions of OS X and OS X Server.  The process is relatively easy.  Make sure the server gets an A and PTR record in the AD DNS.  Start by binding the server to AD just like you bound a client.  Once bound to AD and you can confirm access to the users and groups, then promote the server to an Open Directory Master.  This has been called the Magic Triangle, the Cylinder of Destiny, and now, more logically, dual directory binding.
    This setup allows all users, groups, passwords, and password policies to remain in AD (where is should stay for centralized control).  But, you can use OS X Server to set policy via Profile Manager (or Workgroup Manager if you are supporting legacy systems), use the Apple services like file sharing through single-sign-on, and more.
    DNS and time are critical to success.  Make sure your AD DNS has all the SRV records and uses the reverse zone.  PTR records should exist for all servers in the auth change.  Next, point your Macs and the Mac server at the AD Controller for time sync.  If you have a time skew you will fail auth.
    Integration to AD is a very effective deployment model.  In ensures that you are not reinventing the wheel, centralizes account management and password into a centralized system (AD), and allows OD to do its work without risky modification to AD.
