Is it possible to set up parental control in MultiPoint Server 2012?

Hello everyone!
Is it possible to set up parental control in MultiPoint Server 2012. I'd like to filter adult web sites.
Kind regards,
Pavel

I found an issue with Multipoint Dashboard that when student select to signout and then select "Cancel" to signout to go back to the session, the Multipoint Dashboard filtering is no longer applied to the session.
here is the scenario -
 - Student login to the Multipoint server using the end point device as an standard user.
 - The Multipoint Dashboard has the configuration to "limit the website to all desktop". "cnn.com" only
 - The student session, limits the use of the web browser to only to cnn.com - this is working.
 - Studen open an app like notepad - click save --> prompted him to where to save the file.
do not save the file. leave the "Save as" windows open.
 - Click Start (left bottom corner)
 - Click the account’s name on the top right corner, Click Sign Out
 - It will prompt you with a warning that there is a file open and needs to be saved
 - "Signout anyway" or "Cancel"
 - student select to "Cancel"
 - He is now back to the session
This will allow the student/account logged in to bypass the web filtering

How do I set up parental controls on my apple account, I want to censor the books that she's dowloading. We use the same account  Thanks!

Turning off in-app purchases and the App Store itself would be the best bet for you. You can always unlock these features as needed and lock them again.
Apart from restricting purchases, there are a number of other restrictions you can setup. You can even setup a safe browser with remote parental controls from the App Store, like the one from Mobicip. You may find this tutorial to be helpful: How to setup Parental Controls on the iPad.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why cannot I view my passwords in keychain after having set up parental controls?

I used to be able to open keychain, click on any particular key, click on the box "view password" and see the password after entering my administrator name and master password. Then, I set up parental  controls on my macbook pro because I got tired of seeing all the pornographic ads and such that would often pop up when I did a google search. Now, any time I need to see one of my passwords, I only get a dialog box stating that "access is denied."  Any ideas on how to solve this frustrating problem?

hello gstout, you can use the no squint extension - it allows you to set a global zoom level for all sites: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/

  • How to set up parental controls in itunes

I am trying to set up parental controls in itunes.  I'm confused, as it says to set it up on the administrator account - but we only have one account.  Please help.

If it is like mine, try this;  At the top, click on edit and go to preferences.  This will open choices for you and you will see parental controls.  Click on parental controls and then click on the padlock in the lower left hand corner.  The rest is self explanatory.

Can setting website parental controls (in Leopard) affect other programs (non-web)?
I wonder if it is interfering with Remote Desktop Connection to a Windows computer.
Anyone have any insights into this? Thanks.

I have a teenager that has learned how to delete his history, is there a way to lock the history to where I can monitor the sites he visits without setting up parental control program on the computer?

Use security software or a router with a build-in password protected logging feature if you want to keep a record of visited websites.<br />
You can't prevent people from deleting the history and other personal (private) data in Firefox and a log elsewhere will always work even if other browser would be used.

  • If I were to set up Parental Controls for the only user on a MacBook, would I need to create another, separate account?

    Parental controls

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It is not possible to set parental control on the administrator account, so you have two choices: create a new user account to apply parental control or use the Guest user for that. You can set parental control in System Preferences -> Parental Control

  • Having trouble setting up parental controls

Hello, when I set parental controls on the guest account, I still have trouble going to "allowed" sites. An example is, I allow access to google and amazon but when I try to access gmail it won't let me. It says something about a bad connection. The same with amazon; access to the main page is fine but when I try to sign into my account it won't let me.
    Am I missing something?
    thx

Apparently Parental Controls doesn't allow access to https (secure) sites, which would apply to those sites.

  • System Preference freezes when setting up Parental Controls

    Hi,
I am the Admin user of my MacBook Pro InteL C2D. I'm using Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11. I had set up a 'Standard' Account on my laptop for my flatmate to use. But when I click on the Parental Controls of this standard account, the whole preference pane freezes. And it stays that way until I force quit it. What could be the problem?
I literally gone through every forum regarding this problem and almost everyone of them says to delete the preference file(s). So, I deleted the preference.plist and preference.account.plist file from Preferences folder in Library. No use.
So, I ultimately backed up my data and went for a complete 'Erase and Install'. Sure the computer is a lot faster now, but the above problem still persists!!
    Help please.
    Cheers.

Hi nite41, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, when that completes...
    Trash this file...
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    Reboot.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.
    Any diff?

  • Can not Uncheck "Disable use of Dictation" when setting up Parental Controls

I am running ML 10.8.2 on a MBAir.
I logged in as the local administrator account and tried to set up the parental controls for the local student accounts. I unchecked the "Disable use of Dictation" but kept coming back as checked.
    Any idea?  Thanks much!

Unlock to allow changes to be made by clicking on the padlock icon.
    type your password to unlock.
After you make your changes such as unchecking or checking boxes, click the lock again to lock it.
Restart the computer and see if it reverted back again.

  • Is it possible to set a port number for a server as a value from env ?

    Hello,
I'm using the version 6.1 - sp8 and I'd like to set the port number of a server as a value returned by an environment variable. Will this be achievable somehow through the admin console?
In fact, I have an environment variable called '$WEB_SERV_PORT'. I'd need this value to be assigned as the port number for a server. The reason why I am trying to do this is coz I have multiple instances running as different batch accounts and each batch account would be having its own '$WEB_SERV_PORT' which would be the port on which iplanet would be running for that batch account.
I'd appreciate if anyone could help.
    Thank you,
    Presley.

    Hello Sriram,
Thanks for the info that you have provided. I do agree that what you said would be a better approach.
However I've got a couple of questions on the approach that you have suggested (Sorry that its a bit off from the main topic). Just wanted to clarify if what I thought is in sync with the approach that you suggested.
    1. As you said, I could setup multiple virtual server within an instance (https-<hostname>) - Does this mean that I am creating "Virtual Server Classes" for each server and through the web-applications tab, assigning the corresponding war file to each Virtual Server Class?
    2. Another approach that came upto my mind is that I could create different instances like (https-virtual server1, https-virtual server2, https-virtual server3 etc..). I am assuming that if I follow this approach, I could have each server allocate memory indiviually to the virtual servers. for eg, I could allocate
1024 MB to each virtual server where as in the first approach, I would have to make the 1024 MB to share between all the Virtual Server Classes. And also, in the case theres an issue with one server, I could handle the start/ stop etc individually, where as in the 1st approach, all the virtual classes would be affected by the start/stop. Am I assuming it correctly ?
I'd appreciate if you could let me know.
    Thank you,
    Presley.

  • "set deadlock_priority" not effective in SQL Server 2012?

I am trying to control which of two sessions is chosen as the deadlock victim in SQL Server 2012. I have set up a test that induces a deadlock by updating two tables in opposite order with a "waitfor" in between the updates. I can consistently
repro the deadlock and have code that will catch it and re-try the transaction.
However, when I run "set deadlock_priority low" for one of the sessions, it does not change which victim is chosen. SQL Server consistently chooses the session that starts last as the deadlock victim regardless of this setting. I have verified
that the setting is correct by selecting deadlock_priority from sys.dm_exec_sessions. I have tried setting the session that starts first to "low" and the one that starts second to "high". In spite of that, the second one is always
the one that gets chosen as the victim.
    Is this the expected behavior?
    Thanks,

I didn't try extremely hard, but I was not able to reproduce the issue. Running in the Northwind database, I had this in one window:
    SET DEADLOCK_PRIORITY LOW
    go
    BEGIN TRANSACTION
    go
SELECT * FROM Orders WITH (REPEATABLEREAD) WHERE OrderID = 11000
    WAITFOR DELAY '00:00:02'
UPDATE Orders SET CustomerID = 'ALFKI' WHERE OrderID = 11000
    go
    ROLLBACK TRANSACTION
and in the other window I had:
    SET DEADLOCK_PRIORITY HIGH
    go
    BEGIN TRANSACTION
    go
SELECT * FROM Orders WITH (REPEATABLEREAD) WHERE OrderID = 11000
    WAITFOR DELAY '00:00:02'
UPDATE Orders SET CustomerID = 'ALFKI' WHERE OrderID = 11000
    go
    ROLLBACK TRANSACTION
And every time I tried, it was the first window that fell on the floor.
