Is it possible to share an ODBC.INI across Essbase servers?

Our planned production environment may have as many as 15 Essbase servers so it would be useful if the odbc.ini file could be maintained centrally. Is this possible?

The servers are implemented as a high availability cluster. The infrastructure team telll me that a side-effect of this is that the Essbase install builds the server node name into the path for EPM_ORACLE_HOME. Because this path has to be hard-coded in the odbc.ini Driver specification (see below) this apparently forces you to maintain a separate odbc.ini for each Essbase server.

As part of the landscape we will have an OCFS shared file system mounted across all the Essbase servers. What I'd like to be able to do is place a single odbc.ini file on this file system and for that file to be used by all the Essbase nodes. I've tried using an environment variable in the Driver path specification. I've also tried using a symbolic link.
Does anybody know of a way to avoid the hard-coded paths in the odbc.ini?

Another possibility is to use OCI instead though I saw in another thread that this doesn't work with parallel loads. Assuming this problem can be got around it means that the connection information will be consistent regardless of the essbase server and the odbc.ini maintenance problem then goes away. The catch is that the connection information is then embedded in the rules file meaning that we have to update same whenever they are moved between environments (e.g. dev to test) and whenever an environment's connection details change. I tried using substitution variables but these only apply to ODBC connection names. Does anyone know if there is some way to parameterise the OCI connection information?

I am working on 11.2.1 release only and DSN name only correct i am able to connect to datatore but i am getting the warning message as above mentioned after updating the DSN configuration in sys.odbc.ini file

Odbc.ini entry on local unix server to connect to a T10 on remote server

I am trying to setup an entry in the ODBC.INI file on local unix server that has T10 client installed. I want to connect to a T10 datastore on a different server using this ODBC entry (client/server connection for a Informatica tool)
Could some one tell me how this ODBC.INI entry should look like on my local server.

Say your remote dsn is called 'mydsn' and your remote server called 'TTserver' then the entry on the client machine would be:
[mydsn_cs]
TTC_SERVER_DSN=mydsn
TTC_SERVER=myserver
You would then also need an entry in the sys.ttconnect.ini file as follows:
[myserver]
Network_Address=TTserver
TCP_PORT=<port of server daemon on server>
The port of the server daemon is typicaly 2 more than the port of the main daemon - you can check this by typing 'ttStatus' and looking for the line starting with 'TimesTen server pid'.
Then test your connection with 'ttIsqlCS mydsn_cs'.
*Note: the dsn entry for 'mydsn' on the server needs to be in the sys.odbc.ini file. It can not be in a private .odbc.ini file.

I purchased two computers... an iMac 27" i7 3.4 16GB RAM and a Mac mini 2.3 i5 8 GB RAM. Both have Thunderbolt capability and are in fact connected by thunderbolt. I have 3 problems...
1. My Mac mini WILL NOT recognize any bluetooth keyboard. Let me back up for clarification. I set my iMac up first. No problems there. I then went on to set up my mac mini. A couple of interesting things happened concering bluetooth activity. First thing is that the keypad, which was already paired with my iMac wouldn't be recognized by the mac mini, and yet my bluetooth mouse which was paired with my iMac became paired with my mac mini and thus wouldn't be recognized by my iMac anymore. I had to go to my back room and dig out my other bluetooth mouse so that my iMac would at least recognize my second mouse. So now I have two "mice"presently. One for the mac mini, the other for the iMac. Thankfully I also had a USB keypad for my mac mini. My bluetooth keypad is still paired with my iMac but won't pair with my mac mini, which brings me to another question....
2. CAN 1 KEYPAD AND 1 MOUSE PAIR WITH TWO DIFFERENT COMPUTERS SO THAT WHEN I GO INTO TARGET MODE VIA THUNDERBOLT I CAN USE THE SAME KEYPAD AND MOUSE FOR BOTH COMPUTERS? Anybody have some thoughts on that problem?
3. WHY IN THE WORLD IS MY MOUSE CURSOR DISAPPEARING EVERYTIME I EXIT TARGET MODE VIA PASSWORD AND COMMAND F2. I'm using target mode to access my mac mini. But when I exit target mode to get back into my iMac I'm looking at my iMac screen but I can't see the mouse pointer! I can move the pointer around even though I can't see it. Wierd. And this has apparently been going on for some time with other users for over a year. I am presently completely up to date on Lion updates. Both systems are running 10.7.4. Does anyone have a solution or heard a rumor of a solution coming soon regarding the invisible mouse cursor "curse". I hate having to restart my iMac everytime I exit out of target mode just so I can get my mouse cursor visible again.
Food for thought.... Wouldn't it be really cool to have a target mode capability to see your other computers desktops in seperate window screens on your main display. You then could go back and forth from each window by just double clicking or by certain key commands. You could drag and drop from desktop to desktop. Tell me this is coming soon.

Not really. You should not be sharing an Aperture library over a network. It's not designed for that and you'll likely corrupt your library at some point.

Greetings Alex,
You should be able to download the exact same app from the iTunes store to a different device at no extra cost. Its possible you might be downloading an iPad only version of an app you happen to have on your iPhone although I'm not familiar with an example of this.
If you are being charged:
1. Make sure you are using the same iTunes Store account (AppleID) on both devices. Your purchases are tied to the AppleID so if you don't use the same one to download the app that you used to buy it the first time, you'll be charged.
On the device you originally bought the app in question: Go to Settings > Store -- note the AppleID here
On the device you re-downloaded and were charged on: Go to Settings > Store -- note the AppleID here
If these AppleIDs are different then you have your answer. You are making purchases with two different accounts so logically you've been charged twice. Decide which AppleID you wish to use from now on and on the device which does not currently have that ID and tap on it in the Store section of the settings and login with the other AppleID.
If these AppleIDs are the same then something is going wrong in the process. Contact iTunes Store support email to have them take a peek: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/

The first question I have is, which odbc.ini file should I edit?

The main problem I have is making the new connection show in EAS client, I have edited all the 5 of the ODBC.ini files on our Unix essbase server to include our DB name and left the values as default (for testing purposes), what I have found is that the new connection name does not appear in the SQL data sources as a drop down menu, do I need to restart anything to make the new value show in EAS?

To answer my own question, the path to the true odbc.ini file is located here...ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OPMN/opmn/opmn.xml, in my case, EAS was refering to an odbc.ini file located in my ARBORPATH and not /u02/oracle/obi11d/fmw/Oracle_BI1/common/ODBC/Merant/6.0/lib/ARora24

I want to be able to create a document on my computer and save it on both my MacBook Pro and another MacBook. Also, I want to be able to open documents saved only on the MacBook on my MacBook Pro. Is that possible on the same wirelss?

You would not want to use ad hoc networking if you also need to access the internet. I'm not even sure it is possible.
How are you accessing the internet from these Macs now? If you have a wifi (or wired) network that you both access in your work location, you should be able to use File Sharing across that network, so you shouldn't need the ad hoc network.
Some general observations:
You'll need a plan for how to keep straight which Mac holds the most current version of a file. That should probably be to keep each file in only one place (your Mac, the other Mac, a local file server, a cloud server). Even in our home, with one person doing most of the file accessing, I find a central location works best for this; in my case, that's a desktop system that stays on all the time, but a disk attached to my AirPort Extreme base station, a Time Capsule, or a NAS would serve.
If you make use of the portability of the MacBook[Pro]s to work in different locations, you'll also need a plan that includes that working away from the main work location. If you often work with common files while away from your main work location, a cloud solution may be best even with just two of you. Depending on the size of your files, one of the free cloud solutions may suffice; most offer paid expansion as your needs grow.

This workflow is to slow when it takes 40 minutes for Premierer Pro CC to load a 4tb project. Just this simple thing would take 80 minutes.

Okey, I found out how to import the seaquens, it is actually possible to make that choice after you click to import seaquence. But the problem is i do not want to import the media again. I already have that media in the other projekt. And once importingit it is offline and when I want to delete it it want to remove things from the timeline defeting the purpus. Is there a way to get aroun the fact that the program wants to import the media with the timeline.
The thing is that I want to editing on two computer. On the second computer I will edit just a few scenes that I will later bring back in to the big project that has all the material. I have been copying the material for a few scenes to another external drive and also copied the big projekt and then opened this on my laptop. Then I made all the missing material offline while the projekt found the existing material. I editid the material. Copied the projekt and opened it on my stationary editing computer and copied the timeline with the scene that I had been working on while the media was loading, then shut down the project and opend the old big projekt and pasted the timeline in to the project.
Is there an easier way?
It would be nice to be able to import the timeline (without importing the media) when I have the program opened. Since it takes 40 minutes for my media to load.

Is it still possible to share a folio from the folio builder panel in InDesign, so that it can be downloaded to one device (iPad) for viewing/testing or is this info out of date? Do I really have to go through all the IOS developer certs and purchasing one single serial number hoopla just to view on a single iPad?
