Is it possible to share apps?

I purchased two ipad2's recently. One for me and one for my wife. Is it possible to share or download the apps I purchased for my iPad with my wife's iPad? Currently I have my own Apple ID and she has her Apple ID. How would I set-up the Accounts or ID's to share or download app's books etc? Is share app's allowed?

I think you can use home sharing for this, but don't quote me.
It would be a more permanent solution from what I understand.

  • Is it possible to share aps between my iPad and iPhone, I have tried several methods yet I still get charged if I download an app I already have on my iPad.  many thanks, Alex

Is it possible to share apps from my iPad onto my new iPhone 4. I have tried several suggestions from the net but still get charged when I download an app to my phone that is already on my iPad.  Many thanks,  alex

    Greetings Alex,
You should be able to download the exact same app from the iTunes store to a different device at no extra cost.  Its possible you might be downloading an iPad only version of an app you happen to have on your iPhone although I'm not familiar with an example of this.
    If you are being charged:
    1. Make sure you are using the same iTunes Store account (AppleID) on both devices.  Your purchases are tied to the AppleID so if you don't use the same one to download the app that you used to buy it the first time,  you'll be charged.
On the device you originally bought the app in question:  Go to Settings > Store -- note the AppleID here
On the device you re-downloaded and were charged on:   Go to Settings > Store -- note the AppleID here
If these AppleIDs are different then you have your answer.  You are making purchases with two different accounts so logically you've been charged twice.  Decide which AppleID you wish to use from now on and on the device which does not currently have that ID and tap on it in the Store section of the settings and login with the other AppleID.
If these AppleIDs are the same then something is going wrong in the process.  Contact iTunes Store support email to have them take a peek: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
    Hope that helps.

  • Can I share apps with another user account on our mac even though its a different apple ID?

Husband and I have just bought a new Mac to share, but we've both got iphones and itunes of our own.  I thought the best way to deal with this would be to have a user account each on the new Mac with our own iTunes, but this obviously means that each user account has a different apple ID associated with it.  I've just bought Pages, Numbers and Keynote on my user account, is it going to be possible to share these apps with my husbands user account.
I've got a harrible feeling that I should have created a joint user account and apple ID, and I've just wasted the best part of £40...please tell me theres a way to fix this!!
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can, but you will have to update the applications from the user account with the Apple ID you used to purchase those apps. There isn't any other problem, but it may be illegal (but I think it's legal if you run them on the same Mac)

  • Is it possible to share only a part of contact.

    Hi,
Is it possible to share only a part of an contact? For example: If you have more nubmers and data for one contact (mostly we do) and would like to send someone only one number and not the rest of contact`s data (personal)? I know that on some other phones this is possible. Thanks for answers.

You can update all, or download select App updates one at a time by selecting the app update you want to install.

  • How to share apps between 2 iPod Touch

I want to share apps with my daughter - is this possible? If so, how can this be done.

Apps can only be shared on devices using the same iTunes account. So, in order to use the same apps on the other device, you'll have to sync it logged in with your account in iTunes.
Set it up as desired and sync. iTunes will remember the settings for each device.

  • HT3819 Is it possible to share a printer (attached to a Windows-7 PC) on my home network, with an iPad, iPhone or a Mac?

Is it possible to share a printer (attached to a Windows-7 PC) on my home network, with an iPad, iPhone or a Mac?

Possibly. You'd need to see if your printer has any programs you can put on that attached computer to allow it to be a print server.
I'd start with your printer manufacturer first. See if they offer anything. for your model. If not, then you can look for any printer apps or programs.

  • Is it possible to share an iPad?

My husband and I both have our own iPhones. He has his own Apple ID , as do I.
Is it possible to share an iPad? He & I both travel for business, but not together & not at the same time. It would be great if the one who has it could use their own Apple ID account & iTunes content, etc.
I would rather buy just one iPad2 now & wait for the 3 for the other one.
Can it be set up on one account and then changed to another?
Even if it would have to be restored each time we switched, it might be worth it.
    Thanks for you help!

It is certainly possible to connect a single iPad to two unique Apple ID's, because we're doing it.
As we are using it, the music, movies, and apps installed are available to both users. I'm not sure how it might be different by sharing the Apple ID accounts with iPhones, however.
I'd suggest leaving the 'home' screen pretty much as it comes, and then adding named folders for your apps. iOS suggests names for application folders based on Genre, but you can easily edit the folders once created.  For example 'Bill's Music Apps', 'Jennifer's Photo Apps', and so on.
Purchase an iPad with 64Gb memory, and you can easily store the all the apps either of you would use as well as a combined music, movie, and photo libraries. A feature length movie does take up about 4Gb, so you'd probably want to remove them once you've watched them. Mark for deletion on the iPad, then it will free the iPad memory next time you sync to iTunes on a computer. If you don't choose 'erase file' on the computer, the movie will still be there.
Apps are organized by iTunes by platform: iPhone, iPhone and iPad, and iPad only, but every app of any platform I've downloaded so far has played on the iPad 2, even some older ones from my son's iPod Touch 2G.
My wife and I 'share' her 64Gb iPad 2. She uses it primarily for email, weather, and web browsing. She has a few songs loaded, but doesn't really use it much for music yet. I'm still converting her vinyl album collection to mp3s and then uploading it from my computer. Haven't really created any playlists yet.
I use it her iPad to test-drive lots of free apps, photo apps, reference apps, games, and a few magazines I subscribe to.
Before you ever connect it to a computer, be certain to disable the 'automatic sync' in iTunes.
For simplicity, when you first connect and register it, choose one of the two existing account Apple ID's. Then connect it to the other Apple ID.
When connected to a computer, you can simply drag content from each of your individual iTunes accounts to the iPad shown in iTunes.
When you want to add an app or music, simply sign-in with the applicable ID.  The iPad doesn't get confused when updating apps, and asks for the appropriate Apple ID and password for whichever account loaded and installed the app.
I'm not sure how iOS 5 and iCloud will affect this arrangement, if at all.
We have unique email accounts on a 3rd-party POP3 servers, and the iPad Mail app allows you to select which inbox you want to view, as well as 'all inboxes'

  • Is it possible to share 1 bluetooth keypad and 1 mouse pad between two computers in target mode?

Is it possible to share 1 bluetooth keypad and 1 mouse pad between two computers in target mode? Grab a drink and let me tell you my story.
I purchased two computers... an iMac 27" i7 3.4 16GB RAM and a Mac mini 2.3 i5 8 GB RAM. Both have Thunderbolt capability and are in fact connected by thunderbolt. I have 3 problems...
    1. My Mac mini WILL NOT recognize any bluetooth keyboard. Let me back up for clarification. I set my iMac up first. No problems there. I then went on to set up my mac mini. A couple of interesting things happened concering bluetooth activity. First thing is that the keypad, which was already paired with my iMac wouldn't be recognized by the mac mini, and yet my bluetooth mouse which was paired with my iMac became paired with my mac mini and thus wouldn't be recognized by my iMac anymore. I had to go to my back room and dig out my other bluetooth mouse so that my iMac would at least recognize my second mouse. So now I have two "mice"presently. One for the mac mini, the other for the iMac. Thankfully I also had a USB keypad for my mac mini. My bluetooth keypad is still paired with my iMac but won't pair with my mac mini, which brings me to another question....
    2. CAN 1 KEYPAD AND 1 MOUSE PAIR WITH TWO DIFFERENT COMPUTERS SO THAT WHEN I GO INTO TARGET MODE VIA THUNDERBOLT I CAN USE THE SAME KEYPAD AND MOUSE FOR BOTH COMPUTERS? Anybody have some thoughts on that problem?
    3. WHY IN THE WORLD IS MY MOUSE CURSOR DISAPPEARING EVERYTIME I EXIT TARGET MODE VIA PASSWORD AND COMMAND F2. I'm using target mode to access my mac mini. But when I exit target mode to get back into my iMac I'm looking at my iMac screen but I can't see the mouse pointer! I can move the pointer around even though I can't see it. Wierd. And this has apparently been going on for some time with other users for over a year. I am presently completely up to date on Lion updates. Both systems are running 10.7.4. Does anyone have a solution or heard a rumor of a solution coming soon regarding the invisible mouse cursor "curse". I hate having to restart my iMac everytime I exit out of target mode just so I can get my mouse cursor visible again.
Food for thought.... Wouldn't it be really cool to have a target mode capability to see your other computers desktops in seperate window screens on your main display. You then could go back and forth from each window by just double clicking or by certain key commands. You could drag and drop from desktop to desktop. Tell me this is coming soon.
    Thanks

  • If my my and I have different apple ids can we share apps?

We have an Ipad but just bought my wife and I our first iphones... I think I will set up my wife's I phone with the same apple ID as the Ipad so that she can sync and share apps with the I pad with ease...
However,  if I create a separate apple ID for my Iphone will I have to re-buy any apps that we bought on itunes for the ipad?  Or is there a way that I can get the apps from her apple ID to my Iphone with my own apple ID?
If so can you give me the steps to do this?

If you haven't set up your own Apple ID already don't.  I suggest you use the same apple ID as your wife's.  The alternative is to do this http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848.  It's not efficient as you have to swap apple id's to update apps under both IDs.  20/20 being hindsight, I would have never created a 2nd apple ID for my wife.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can we share apps on two ipads using two different accounts on the same computer?

I just got and iPad 2 and am giving my wife my old iPad. She has a separate itune account for her ipod. Can we share apps on the two iPads with two different accounts running on the same computer?

    Dear Dah,
I now have two iPads, which I also (need to) have separate AppleID's for. I understand I can share apps between them if I authorize iTunes on my iMac with both ID's, but I am not quite sure about the correct way to do that. I already have the iMac authorized for AppleID#1. If I go into iTunes and click on Store/Authorize this Computer... and enter my AppleID#2 information into Account name and Password boxes, does this authorize my iMac's iTunes for BOTH ID's or does it just change the authorization from ID#1 to ID#2?
If the former is correct, I understand the way to proceed is to xync up both iPads to iTunes and then I can drag and drop apps from one iPad's library listings to the other, right?
If this is not the correct way to get dual authorizations, what is?
    Thanks!
