Is it possible to share my home internet with my 5...

I know that the 5230 has no wlan capability... but can i share my home internet with my phone via my toshiba sat pro laptops bluetooth?
Also totally separate question... is 500mb monthly a reasonable amount of data acsess from my vodaphone contract and how long would this last?

No you cannot share your home internet via bluetooth to the phone, 500mb is ok IMHO if you are only accessing mails and not a big mobile internet user.

Not really.  You should not be sharing an Aperture library over a network.  It's not designed for that and you'll likely corrupt your library at some point.

  • How can I share the home folder with different accounts on the same mac?

    Hi, here's a question:
How can I share the home folder with different accounts on the same mac?
The whole point being not to have to install all my apps, and move all my files each time between users.
The second thing would be to be able to modify one document on one account, and have it changed on the other account without having to copy it.
I would like to have a pro and a private account on my mac.
    Thanks for you answers,
    Doug

Your apps should not be installed in your home folder--they should be in /Applications where every user can access them.
If you want to share things between users on the same Mac, use the /Users/Shared folder. Keep your home folder private. Trying to defeat the protections on the home folder subfolders just gets messy. I've never bothered to figure out all of the problems associated with it so I can't explain how to do it.
Even with using Shared, you would need to alter the ACLs on the shared folder in order to allow both users to modify the documents.
You must create a Group in Users & Groups and put each user in that group. Then create a folder inside /Users/Shared where you want to share the various files.
Then, add an ACL to the shared folder that gives the group special permissions. on that folder.
    sudo chmod -R +a "<sharinggroup> allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,add_subdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directory_inherit" /Users/Shared/<sharing folder>
Replace <sharinggroup> and <sharingfolder> with the name of your group and your folder. Then, run the command in the Terminal.
With that ACL, each user in <sharinggroup> will be able to alter the files created by any user in the group in that <sharingfolder>.
Essentially, the client OS is not designed for true file sharing among the individual users. It is designed to isolate each user account from the others.

Unfortunately, no. Home sharing only applies to devices sharing the same Wifi network.

  • New to Mac - Need help - Want to share Printer and Internet with PC

Looking for help in setting up to share my Windows Compaq PC printer and files and internet with my MAC Mini. They sit right next to each other, my PC does not have wireless ability. What equipment and what steps do I need to take to make this happen? I am looking for the cheapest way possible.
    Thanks

To share the internet you are going to need the means the connect both the Mac and PC to your internet connection. A router would be the simplest - connect your broadband modem to the router and the computers to the router. Routers are quite inexpensive these days and it is also needed to share a printer with both computers.
This leads us to the printer. Before you think about sharing the printer with the Mac you'll first need to determine the printer has drivers for OS X. If not, there's no easy way to seamlessly print from the Mac to your printer. Note I say seamless. Since all Mac applications can print a PDF file you can print the PDF, transfer the file to your PC, and then print the PDF in Windows.

  • Is it possible to share Windows XP internet connection to iPhone 4 via USB tethering?

My computer (Windows XP) connects to the internet, and I want to share that connection to my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.0.1). Is it possible to do that via USB tethering? I know that it's possible for iPhone 4 to share its internet connection to others via Personal Hotspot, so can the opposite be done?

You wouldn't be able to do that via USB, however if your computer had the ability to transmit wireless from the computer, you would be able to connect the iPhone to it via wifi. Computers have the ability to do that with the correct equipment.

  • How to use smb share for home directory with AD account

I have extended the schema of our AD and bound a macbook pro running 10.6.8 to the domain. AD users are able to logon, and if I select the option to use their AD homedirectory attribute then this smb share is used as a network drive. My question is though, I need users to logon to MAC using a different smb share for their home drive than the path set in the home directory attribute. Does anyone know how I can achieve this?
    Cheers
    Paul.

But this method cannot use Regular Expression because my searching target is more than one line.Yes it can!
Like you said, first you list all the files in the folder.
For each file, use a BufferedReader to read the first lines, then you may use a StringBuffer to append the lines into it (don't forget to append the '\n' to each line).
Finally, compile your pattern ( "^November.*\nDecember" ) with the DOTALL flag,
verify that the string (from StringBuffer) matches the pattern and there you have it!

  • Can't share iBook's internet with new MB

Hi, I want to set up Internet sharing to share my iBook's Airport connection with my new Macbook which can't be brought online until this 5 day Korean holiday ends. My boyfriend is using the iMac (plugged into ethernet) in the next room.
But when I set up internet sharing, neither notebooks will connect to the internet. The iBook loses its Airport connection and changes its signal to "iBook" instead of NESPOT (ISP). The Macbook's Airport network is "MacBook". When i stop Sharing the iBook comes back online.
Any pointers on things I could try? thankyou.
    thanks...

Right, well it's all Korean so don't know if it'll be any help but - the iMac's hooked up to a MMC wireless local router, and then there's a Dasan H610 unit in another room. The iBook connects through Airport, the MacBook currently no connection.

  • Is it possible to create one home page with links to multiple forms in Adobe Forms Central?

I have several forms that are all related. Is it possible to have one online landing page where I can link to my other forms from?
It would be easier to share one link than multiple.

You could create either a web page of your own to include the links into, or you could create a form that you include the links in - maybe add them as single checkbox fields where the user could check the box stating that they have filled out the related form.  There is a "Insert or edit Link" button in the top toolbar when designing a form, select text you would like to represent the link and click the link button to add the URL to a form.
The responses for each form would be connected to those individual forms and would not be presented together.  When you recieve responses from the various forms you would not have any built in way to connect the same user to the variuos forms but you could include a "Required" email field in all forms so that you can see who submitted which forms that way.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Is it possible to share DPS folio files with people WITHOUT an icloud ID?

Basically we're trying to create some interactive documents for a client to play on ipad (hence why we're not just using interactive pdfs) and it seems that the best way to create these animated brochures is using DPS files.
HOWEVER, as I'm testing it I can to a realisation that the client would need an icloud ID to log in and view the document. Thats pretty much out of the question given how many people will want to view the file on seperate ipads (probably close to 400). Is there a way around this? Or any way the folio can be viewed with another app?

    Moved to DPS forum.
The answer is no. That said, you could use the same ID for all 400 iPads. There's no current limit to that, but I suspect if this practice becomes too widespread, that may change.

  • How can I share the work iTunes with my home iTunes so I can work from home? Need to be able to share playlists and files for editing tracks.

I've just started working for a media company that provides the music for sporting events. They use iTunes to create playlists that I have to load into an IR machine with hot keys. I also have to edit tracks to create new stings and intros. As there is a 2.5 hour commute, I want to access the work iTunes library from my home MBP so I can work from home. When I'm at work I can share the work iTunes library, but when I'm back home I can't use it. Any ideas of how I could effectively Home Share over the internet with two seperate iTunes accounts?
The work iMac is running 10.7.5 and my MBP is 10.8.4

In that case, does anybody know of a program or workaround that will make this so?
