  • ITunes Match in a family

    Hi all
have a question concerning iTunes Match: in my family everybody has is own mac with his own iTunes library. We all buy music, apps, books with the same store account. How should we handle iTunes match, so that everybody keeps his own iTunes lilbary organized?

You'll probably end up with all machines authorized for Match showing the same playlists - Match will include everything from all machines.  If you do it, you'll probably want different people to have different playlists to keep things straight.  If you want separate ratings and play counts for different people, it probably won't work for you.

  • ITunes match tracks different volumes from the same album

Using iTunes Match.  Among other reported problems, after downloading Matched tracks to my master iTunes library to replace lower bitrate versions, the new tracks from the same album have different loudness or volumes between the tracks.  Is this because iTunes Match is matching the songs to different versions of the same album?  Where some albums have been 'remastered' or such, that the recorded volume between the albums is different?  But instead of matching tracks to the same version of the album, some are being matched to different versions of the same album?
Quite offputting to listen to a single album where track to track loudness changes suddenly.
PS, I'm not using SoundCheck on my Mac.

Same problem here. I'm an "album" kind of music fan and when I'm listening matched albums that the sound quality and voulme changes I get really put off. Case in point B-52's self-titled album: tracks 1,2, 5 & 7, nice and loud; 3, 4, 6, 8 & 9 tiny sounding in comparison...Hello?  So far iTunes Match is not worth my money. I'd like to hear form an Apple iTunes Match repersentative to know if this issue will be resolved. As it is, is not very useful. Please fix the problem. Also many of my albums show that a track or a few will not be matched but uploaded to the cloud which means more of my albums will be spotty sounding as tracks will have different bit rate, etc. There is no real excuse for not matching whole albums as oppose to single songs. I read somwhere the 'typical" case of the Beatles "Abbay Road" album not matching "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" on most users. I think is silly to say the less. Albums matching not single songs, please!!!

  • ITunes Match Tracks Stay In Waiting Status Forever

I am having an issue with getting four tracks to successfully upload to iCloud from my Mac.  These tracks are spoken word (not audiobooks).  I right click on them (individually and as a group) and click "Add to iCloud".  This then starts iTunes Match to to match and go through its motions.  The process completes without any errors, but the tracks show in iTunes as waiting.  This will stay this way for days upon days without being available on any iOS device.  The iCloud status in iTunes stays as Waiting and never changes.  I can see the album art, but there is no option to download it from iCloud or play it.
I have tried the many described steps that others have suggested about converting the tracks to AAC, MP3, etc.  I have even tried to change the bit rate to something higher. The tracks are starting out as 128kbps, 44,100kHz Stereo.  I have tried bumping them up to 256kbps without any change in iTunes Match or iCloud.  I have also removed them out of iTunes (keeping exising tracks, deleting tracks, etc.).  Evey step I seem to make with trying to get these tracks into iCloud comes with complete failure.  Am I doing something wrong?  Is there some kind of solution that I am missing?  I am about ready to throw the towel in for iTunes Match.  The service works great if your music lives in iTunes to begin with, but I have nothing but problems trying to get any audio in from the outside.
Thanks for you help and suggestions.

The files are AAC audio and the size is 20MB or less.  I have even tried shortening the track names in the ID3 tags.  The actual file names are short to begin with and less then 15 characters.
    Kind:  AAC audio
    Size: 20MB or less
    Sample Rate:  44,100 kHz
    Profile:  Low Complexity
    Channels:  Stereo
I will try switching the genre to "Audio Book" and see what happens there, but really would like Match to work.

  • One iCloud ID, but two different iTunes Store ID's... possible to sync iTunes Match?

I tried searching around for an answer on this... a lot of people seem to be having issues when working off of a single Apple ID for the iTunes Store, but in my case my wife and I both use a single account for iCloud syncing but we have our own separate accounts for purchases in the App Store (we each have an iPhone 4S). My question is; if I subscribed to iTunes Match under my Apple ID which I use for my iTunes Store account... is there any way to extend our library of music to my wife's iPhone as well? On mine it's easy enough since it's linked to my Apple ID. But on my wife's iPhone, when she tries to add iTunes Match it asks for the password to her own iTunes Store Apple ID which is totally separate from mine and which is not subscribed to iTunes Match.
In other words; is there any way to link iTunes Match to the iCloud ID instead of the iTunes Store ID?? Since we share the same iCloud ID (and it happens to be my Apple ID for iTunes Store as well) and since I thought this whole iTunes Match service was a part of "iCloud", I didn't think it would be a problem. But if I go onto my wife's iPhone and change her "Store" ID in Settings, won't this screw up all her previously-purchased apps? Would it work if I changed her Store ID on her iPhone, enabled iTunes Match, and then changed her Store ID back to her own? I somehow doubt it.
I'm assuming there is no way to segregate an ID my wife uses for App Purchases from an ID we share for iCloud / iTunes match?
Hope some of the above made sense, thanks for any help. I'm expecting an answer along the lines of "until you can merge ID's, you're out of luck" but hoping for another solution!

Appreciate the response. I actually ended up tweeting Serenity (author of that article at Macworld) who wrote another article all about iTunes Match:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/163658/2011/11/itunes_match_what_you_need_to_kno w.html
However, nothing seemed to specifically adress my issue of having multiple ID's for iTunes purchases. But Serenity explained via Twitter that our best bet was to simply put my Apple ID onto my wife's phone and essentially "abandon" her old iTunes ID that she was previously using for purchases. The downside of this is that she won't be able to access her prior purchased iOS apps in the cloud, and of course her future purchases will now be tied to my credit card . But there doesn't seem to be any other way around it. I would have loved if Apple let us use our "iCloud Apple ID" instead of the "iTunes Apple ID" for syncing "iTunes in the Cloud". That way, my wife could have continued to use her separate Apple ID for app purchases, but we would be able to share the same music library across devices. Oh well!

  • How do I MERGE the purchases of two iTunes accounts into one Family Share?

We have purchased many apps via two iTunes accounts.  How do we merge these purchases into on Family Share account

    Hi MacHead2010,
I am not quite sure exactly what you mean by your question. It is not possible to merge two iTunes Store accounts. See this article for reference -

Using Family Sharing, however, does allow all members of a Family Sharing group to use the content such as music, apps, etc on each other's devices.

  • How to use iTunes gift card on family Share plan

My teen age son is on our Family Share Plan and he has an iTunes gift card he wants to use to download songs.  I can't figure out a way to set this up unless I remove him from the plan and then add him back in after he has made the purchase.  Any better way to do this?

Yes, if there is credit in the iTunes account it should use that in preference to any credit cad details held (at least it always does for me).

  • Itunes Match and my family

    Hi,
No doubt there are a number of people with the same type of question, but to date I have seen no solution.
I have an i-phone 5 and pc, I have about 5k songs on i-tunes, i would like my wife to listen to the music, she has an i-phone 5 and an ipad mini
We both have separate apple Id's, we both have seperate credit card on the separate accounts (thankfully), but we would both like to listen to our music, i.e. my music from my pc that i have bought.
I want to be able to use my apple I/d as normal, and she wishes to use hers for purchases, strange apps etc, can we both share the music from our library and still keep our separate apple i/d's? A bit like the old days when you bought a CD and made a copy for the wife to listen to on her portable discman.
I appreciate that some times there are concerns over copying and distributing etc, but managing the number of hardware items that can access match surely should solve this.. we share a house, a bed, a child, some kisses, my money, but we cant share the music collection, apple surely it is a simple matter to allow this by creating a family i/d of some kind.
Can anyone out there help please... i fear some of the sharing may stop if i cannot find an answer...not sharing my money is great, the kisses and bed on the other hand, well lets not go there..
    Thank you all in anticipation.

I wanna know if is there any plan to make a family plan that could aggregate, combine, share, associate, interdepend, link, connect or any kind of association that could allow members of a proven family to access a specific iMatch library?
In case of a negative response, please suggest the best way to address this issue: My wife is complaining that she also has the right to listen the music we both purchased together, and she cannot use my apple id. Maybe I should leave iMatch and store all the musics in a external HD with wireless capabilities.

If my family signed up for iShare, can we access each others iTunes music library through iTunes Match?

  • Itunes match for family

Is it possible to set up one iTunes Match account on my phone and my wife's phone? I am starting to realize that iTunes services are not very family friendly, or at least do not make it easy to set up for a family.

Yeah, it is a little fiddly to use services like iTunes Match with a family. But it can be done. If you already have only one Apple ID you share on the iTunes Store you'll be fine. Just purchase the service in iTunes, let the initial scan, match and upload process complete, then enable the service on your iOS devices.

  • How do I move my iTunes Match subscription to another country

I subscribed to iTunes Match 2 years ago, when I lived in Australia, and have renewed it again recently. Part of this process was to match 25,000 music tracks which took weeks to complete. It also chewed through a huge amount of bandwidth.
I have now moved across the Tasman to New Zealand and have a new username and password for the NZ store. However, my iTunes Match tracks are only available under my old Australian iTunes account.
How can I move my iTunes Match subscription from Australia to New Zealand without having to upload/match all of my library again? Or have to pay another annual subscription?
    Hoping someone can help me!
