Is it possible to shuffle albums?

I just got a Nano after having a Classic iPod for several years. With my old iPod, there was a setting to "Shuffle Albums." This would play an entire album from start to finish and then randomly select another album to play. I don't see a way to do this with the new Nano. The only shuffle option I can find is to shuffle individual songs. Is this a missing feature with the Nano? Thanks in advance.

It is possible to skip albums

I’ve recently had to buy an iPod because Sony’s new players have removed gapless playback and so far I’m extremely happy with it, however I’ve encountered a slight issue and I was wondering if somebody could tell me if it is possible to skip albums and yet still play all songs.
For example, I want to listen to all songs. Via the menu I can select which song I want to start with, after a little time I realise that I want to jump to next album – is there a way that this can be done without just hitting ‘next’ the allotted number of times or by using ‘Cover flow’ because the problem with cover flow or using the album menu is that it will then only play the selected album rather than playing all tracks on the player starting at the selected album. Even using the ‘All Song’ menu is not ideal because it does not automatically go to the current song.
Therefore is there a button combination that will jump to the next album or is there a configuration setting that will allow me to play all songs on the player even if I select an album via cover flow etc. The new Sony players have an option to play ‘all’ or ‘selected range’ i.e. album or artist etc and I think that such a feature, if it doesn’t already exist, would be useful.

Short of marking the albums you don't want to play in the shuffle mode in iTunes (which I believe you are saying you don't want to happen) then there really isn't a way to skip a whole album. I'm a little confused on what you are calling ranodom mode and what you are calling album shuffle mode. When you say random mode, are you referring to when a specific playlist is played in shuffle mode or are you referring to when every song on your ipod is being shuffled? My original answer above was assuming you meant when all songs on the ipod is being played.

How can I get my IPOD Touch to shuffle albums ?

I've always used shuffle albums extensively on my Nano, but the Touch doesnt have this capability
I bought an app to do it from the store, but that shouldn't really be necessary should it, and it means using 2 apps simultaneously to play my music
Is there a workaround so I can get the Touch to do it ? Else, would this be in a future release from Apple maybe, or how could I requests it ?

The shuffle setting in the main menu will shuffle through the entire library as you have found out.
You need to go to settings>shuffle this will toggle through off/song/album. Once you have set this it will stay the same until you change the setting.
Now when you start playing a song in a playlist the iPod will shuffle through that playlist (or if you select your song through artist then it will shuffle through all the songs for that artist etc)

How to shuffle albums with iTunes Remote?

I fall in love with iTunes Remote on my iPhone. However, one feature, which i love from iTunes is missing there. I'm not able to shuffle albums. Not songs in one album, but to let iTunes randomly play albums one after another from my Library. On Mac, it's quite simple to do it (just switch on shuffle by albums and let play first), but i'm not able to duplicate this on iPhone. I was used to non-stop stream of music, now i need to choose something after playback of album is ended. I hate this silence! Can someone help me?

If you enable Home Sharing in itunes, on iPad and AppleTV then Remote app will allow you to browse itunes content from the iTunes library and play it back on AppleTV using Airplay. Alternatively the Remote app can control the AppleTV interface directly with iAppleTV requesting/pulling content from itunes as opposed to Airplay sending/pusihing content to AppleTV to play.
Not sure where the Wadia dock comes into this.
Do you dock the iPad with it?
I'd have thought you'd be wanting to hook up the AppleTV optical out to the DacMagic if it supports Toslink or use HDMI or optical direct to the AV amp.
Are you trying to run the system 'headless' with TV off when playing audio - if so, recent software has messed things up and not certain if fixed in that absence of an active HDMI connection can disable audio out over optical.

Select a Photo in the iPhoto Window and click on the 'i' button lower right. This uncovers the Info Panel, and you can assign a Place there. Search on the name of the place and then move the pin to where you want it. This is all covered in the Help and in the tutorials.

Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate

Ipod classic not shuffling albums

I have just recently purchased a 5th Generation 80gb Ipod classic and when I first got it it would shuffle albums and then all of a sudden it stopped. I restored it on several occasions but it still wouldn't work. Finally I sent it back to Apple who promptly returned it to me saying that they couldn't replicate the fault. However as soon as I loaded my music again it would not shuffle albums.
I finally had enough and took it to an Apple store and they said it was a software issue and gave me a new one. However upon loading my music onto this one low and behold the same problem occurred.
Are other people having this problem or am I being dense and not loading my music properly? The guy in the store said that itunes has no impact on the functioning of the ipod which makes me think that its the latest ipod software.
What do people think?

Mine won't shuffle albums either. In fact it behaves very weirdly when I try it; if I choose "shuffle albums" and then pick a playlist, it either plays the first song (display reads 1/1) and stops OR the display reads 1/0 and does not play the song. It's really annoying. I've monkeyed with every setting I can think of on the iPod and in iTunes. I like listening to classical music randomized by album because shuffling by the song is idiotic, and I can't really do it.

How can I shuffle albums on the iPod nano generation 7 instead of just shuffling songs?

The iPad Mini does not have the Bluetooth profile to stream via Bluetooth Stereo (A2DP). I'm not familiar enough with the S3 to know if it does. You are trying to connect them to stream music from the Nano to the device?
The Nano only has the streaming A2DP (stereo Bluetooth) and low power protocol (think hear monitor) profiles.

6th gen iPod nano can't shuffle albums

Shuffling albums is useful to me.
It will be better if you can add this function to 6g.

The only I could suggest is send an Enhancement Request to Apple to put Shuffle By Album into the 6th Gen on the next update. The more requests are made, the more likely Apple will listen.

Is it possible to shuffle music from iTunes library in iPhoto?

When I look at a slide show of an album it always begins with the same song from iTunes. I know I can change that for each album. But what I would like to do is to choose the iTunes library so that the songs shuffle randomly in each album. What I mean is that if I start a slide show of a specific album it should start with a new song from iTunes each time. Is this possible?

This is a feature this is surprisingly missing from iPhoto.
Apple realizes the importance of shuffling music; they named a product after it. And it seems like it would be such an easy thing to add.
I fully expect this functionality in iPhoto, and am disappointed that it's not there.

Can't figure out how to shuffle albums

In Settings I go to "shuffle" and select "albums", but then when I exit Settings and go to "shuffle songs", it continues to go from one random song to another, and not from album to album.
What am I doing wrong?

Once you do that setting, then go to music-->albums, find the album, (have it highlighted) and then hit play. It will shuffle that album.
The shuffle on the main menu always shuffles everything. The settings allow you to shuffle playlists, artists, albums, genres, etc.

Is it possible to put albums by name into a playlist instead of a list of individual songs?

I'm creating playlists on my IPod Touch but when I move an album into the playlist all I get is a list of the songs. I'd like to be able to select the name of the album from the playlist. Is it possible, and if so, how?

I have the same model iMac with the same problem screen.
It's the LCD panel that is defective,(at least in my case).
You can validate this by getting a mini DVI adapter to connect the iMac to an external screen and test it on your HDTV or on any external screen.
Get the proper adapter from Mini DVI to what you have on the external screen or TV (HDMI, DVI, VGA)
and a cable to connect it and see if the image on the external screen or TV is OK.
In my case, my iMac was sitting on a shelf for two years before I thought of trying this.
I am now using it as a media server linked to my HDTV.
I ended up opening the iMac case to disconnect the LCD so I would not have to look at the ugly defective display sitting right next to my HDTV.
