Is it possible to split sequences in Clips so that they be use repeatedly, easily?

In putting together shows using repeating elements, it would be desirable to be able to store a cut sequence (e.g. a title sequence for a series) into Clips for reuse. Is this in fact possible to do in FCPX? A related question is whether it is possible to chop apart items in Clips so as to facilitate their repeated use?

Create a new Event and call it something suitable.
Copy the clip sequence you want to re-use.
Right-click in the Event Browser
Choose 'New Compound Clip'.
Right-click the Compound Clip in the Browser.
Choose 'Open in Timeline.
Paste your clip sequence into the Compound Clip.
The Compound Clip (with the clip sequence) will remain in the Event for you to use in future projects etc etc.

  • HT4236 How do you keep photos in the same sequence on the iPhone that they are on the PC folder?

How do you keep photos in the same sequence in the iPhone as they are in the folder on the PC??

When I sync my photos they are listed alphabetically (by folder) and within the folders, listed alphabetically again by the name assigned to the photo. The only way I can think of to keep the order that you have in your computer would be to assign a letter as a prefix to each photo. If you have more than 26 photos in a folder, you can double the letters, etc. I think that will keep the photos in the order you want.

  • Is it possible to override the SecurityFilter class so that I can use it for my external app which is deployed in ToolsAndFramework and needs to validate for same user/password as is being used to log in experience manager?

I have created a java app and deployed in ToolsAndFramework of endeca and since that app can be accessed through a directl url so want to implement an security filter which will use the same user validation as is used in experience manager.

Sorry to hear that, but this forum is for us, users, and what you need is someone from Xperia Care to find your motherboard and send it back, I don't think it'll be possible to retrieve any data from a broken motherboard.

  • Is it possible to digitally sign a jar file that will be used to install CF in WebSphere?

I am currently working for a contractor for the DoD. We are maintaining a project that uses CF installed as an application through WebSphere. We are currently going through a security checklist and being asked to provide evidence that the CF application has a digital signature. From what we can gather they are looking to see that the jar file installed into WebSphere is digitally signed. We have reached out to IBM, and have received a response that digital signatures are recognized by WebSphere.
Unfortunately, it seems that those that are looking for the evidence do not know much more than what the checklist requirement states. They cannot provide more details or expand on what they need. Any assistance or advice in this matter would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Congratulations. :-)
Masterkeedu wrote: So it's not certified, but is signed.
So as I understand this, it means the end-user has no way to know it was me that truly signed it. But relies on their common sense I suppose.
That is correct. The CA has verified, and is certifying, that you are who you claim to be. If you or I use a 'self signed' certificate, it does not carry the same level of trust. As you might understand already, the dialogs are different between the two certificate types, and some users cannot accept trusted code from an unverified (self-signed) certificate.
I have been meaning to write a page on the differences between the two certificates. It is well worth looking into getting a cert. from a CA.
There was a stage when one of the major CAs were offering 'freemail' certificates that came emblazoned not with your name, but 'free mail' itself. I did not like them because of that, and continue to use a self-signed certificate.

  • Exchange 2013 Split DNS, how to get WAN clients to use public Split DNS IP when inter-office link is DOWN?!

    Hello,
I have an Exchange 2013 deployment and a LAN/WAN setup, we have many small remote WAN linked offices that can resolve to the Exchange Server's internal IP.
Outlook clients in remote WAN offices work fine as long as the link is UP since the Split Brain DNS for Exchange will resolve the internal clients to the internal IP of the Exchange server, Outlook connects up without issues.
However, in the event of loosing connection to our remote sites, they will no longer be able to resolve to the internal Exchange IP, but they still have a backup public internet that they can use. So should the inter-office connectivity fail we have it setup
so clients in remote offices can still browse the internet, etc.
However, their Outlook fails to connect because it has a cached DNS record for our Split Brain Exchange DNS setup and tries to resolve it to its internal IP, instead of refreshing the cache and grabbing the public IP of the Exchange server since now they
would be resolving it over the public internet.
Is there anything I can do with my existing configuration to allow the client to pick up the public IP of the Split DNS setup when our inter-office connection is down and the client is no longer able to use the internal IP they have cached for Exchange?
I guess I could lower the TTL on the DNS record to something like 1 minute so it does not cache the DNS record / IP for long? Is this the best approach?

    http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/lose.html
I would suggest that the best approach is to either improve the reliability of the WAN link or to configure DNS to always use the Internet path.  You might want to work with your network guy, perhaps there's a way to have your gateways automatically
switch to an Internet VPN backup when the WAN link is down or something like that.

  • Is it possible to split an added audio clip (like you can with the video clips)?

I'm working in iMovie 9.   I've recorded a audio voiceover that I added to my video clips.
I want to be able to split the voiceover audio so I can separate the different sentences and move them to where they are appropriate relative to the video.
With video, this is easily done with shift+command+S.
I tried selecting the audio track and doing shift+command+S but it doesn't work.
I can't figure out how to do this.  Is it possible?

Thanks for the tip.  Tried it, no go.  Guess 9 is primitive that way.
I now remember a few years ago having the same problem, and I contacted Apple and suggested they make this possible in future versions of iMovie.   Guess they listened to me!

  • Can't name Sequences or Clips - Seem to be in constant "Timeline" Edit Mode

I'm having a strange problem. I can't name sequences or clips in the Browser. When I click the sequence to name it I get the standard box with the words Sequence 1 highlighted in Light Blue. My cursor is there. This is normally where you can backspace and rename a sequence.
However, I cannot rename or name a sequence. What does happen though is that when I type a letter corresponding to a tool like Ripple or Slip, then those tools are highlighted in the lower right-hand vertical tool bar. So even though I'm operating in the browser, FCP is acting like I'm editing in the timeline.
I've switched keyboards. I've cleared up 20 gb of memory. I've rebooted, restarted, and cleared my preferences. Nothing seems to work.

When FCP rescues you, all your good settings go out along with the potentially corrupted. If you have customized your interface, loosing all that can be a total pain.
On the off chance that it isn't a preference problem, (and with FCP not running) first BACKUP your preference files, then TRASH them. When you start FCP, new pref files will be created using the default settings. If this works, BACKUP the new ones.
However, if trashing the prefs did no good - i.e. you still have the same problem, you can simply RESTORE to bring back your original settings.
No matter what, once you have a good working setup, the BACKUP command is a great thing. Once saved, you can restore your 'known to be good' settings anytime things look funky and you will not lose custom settings.
I prefer FCP Attic as it gives me the option to choose which preference files I wish to save and/or trash. With FCP Rescue it is all or nothing.
    Cheers.

  • Splitting One Large clip in Event Library

I recently had some 8mm film transferred to digital. I found some Christmas' that were taken when I was a kid. This segment was on 11 minute stream of multiple Christmas' together. When I imported the AVI that I received back, it naturally was on long clip. What I would like to do is split these into multiple events (I think I can remember when each year was, getting old you know )
Everything I have read seems that it should work, like:
Place the scan to where I want to split, then press Command-Shift-S, but all I get is a beep.
I select the clip I want to make into one event and tried copying, but no paste. Tried moving, but it wants to move the whole clip.
I tried selecting the next year and do the File | Split Event before Selected Clip, but it is grayed out.
I'm at a loss for what to do, so if anyone knows the "tricks" to do this, please help.
    Larry

I use MPEG Streamclip for this, and it is free. QuickTime Pro also works great.
    Instructions for MPEG Streamclip
    1) Download and install MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (free).
    3) Start MPEG Streamclip
    4) Drag your 11 minute clip into the MPEG Streamclip window.
(If you don't know where it is, right-click on the clip in iMovie and select "Reveal in Finder"
    5) If you want to split a long clip into smaller clips, you can make smaller clips by using MPEG Streamclip. Move the cursor to the "in" point of the clip, and press i. Move the cursor to the "Out" point of the clip, and press o. Then do steps 5 and 6 and repeat until you have done this for all clips you want.
    6) Use FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME to convert the files to Apple Intermediate Codec (or h.264 if you prefer)
    7) Optional: If you know the date and or time of the footage, name your file
    clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss
(let mpeg streamclip provide the extension). This will provide metadata that iMovie will use to put the event in the right year and month.
    8) Save the resulting file in a place where you can find it, like your Desktop.
    9) Open iMovie.
    10) In iMovie, choose FILE/IMPORT/Movies... and choose the file you saved in steps 5,6,7. You can import several clips at once if you want.
    11) iMovie will generate thumbnails and you can edit.

  • Splitting and Merging Clips

    Hi,
I have some older edited video that I want to split into separate events by shooting subject. I know how to split the clips into separate events, but my problem is that imovie has imported the video into clips that combine subjects. Is there a way to split a clip within an event? Thanks!

Bill has assumed you mean a physical splitting of the clip and if that is what you are after then he has given you the answer.
But you might also consider virtual splitting within a project.
In the Project Media panel you can create one or more project folders using the Folder icon:
You can then take your 35 minute clip and create duplicates of it in your new folder(s). NB: These are not physical duplicates, only the original 35 minute clip is on your hard disk. So you don't have to worry how many duplicates you make, they do  not take up extra hard disk space.
Having done this you can then rename the duplicates (in my example part 1, part 2, part 3). But the clever bit, that allows you to treat each of those duplicates as a separate clip, is that you can then set unique In/Out points for each duplicate. In the screen shot following you can see the In/Out point for 'part1'. In the Media panel you can see that part_1 is 13 frames long while part_2 is 1 second & 14 frames long.
You can add these alternate versions to the timeline and apply different effects and transitions to each part.
    Cheers,
    Neale

  • Sequence and clip name keeps changing... Why ? Solutions ?

The sequence and clip name on a particular project keeps changing. It usually takes the name of of an audio file. Deleting the preferences, opening the timeline in a new project, making it offline and reconnecting it again, et. all doesn't help ? What is causing this ? HELP
    Mac Pro Quad core
    Memory 8GB

    FCP version 7.0
    OS X version 10.5.8
    Quicktime 10 & 7.66 both installed
Anyone has a solution for this....

I made the sequence off line and save it as a new project. Then deleted the preferences and opened the project..... reconnected the media. Most of the clips showed the correct clip name and the sequence name also didn't change. But a few audio tracks still had the old problem....
Thanks for the reply.... haven't updated yet..

  • Possible to split one large pdf into multiple pages (in the same pdf?)

I have some well logs that have been scanned - problem is they're coming is as one loooong page in the pdf.  Is it possible to split it up into several 8.5 x 11 pages within Acrobat, or do I need special software?

Depends on what you have and the amount of length (a time issue). The simplest way is to use the crop tool to get a page worth and save it, then repeat for the next page, etc. Once all the pages are saved, you can put them back together. You should then use redax or such (print to a new PDF in a pinch) to remove the cropped portions. As I said, this is a bit time consuming, but can do the job. There are likely quicker ways and possibly some 3 party products that can do the job also.

  • How is it possible to split the table cells in Pages, Version 5.1

How is it possible to split the table cells in Pages, Version 5.1?

This is a feature removed in the change from Pages 09 to Pages 5.0.1.
If you need this facility, revert to Pages 09.  If you upgraded to 5.0.1, then the earlier version is still in your Applications folder in a folder called iWork.

  • Possible to split Audio/ Visual for apple tv

    Hey,
I have a projector in my room and was wondering if i could airplay movies through itunes to the apple tv (connected to my projector) and then keep the sound coming out through the headphone port (the speakers on the projector are average). As i have my laptop and stereo on the other side of the room and dont really want to have cables running along the floor. If this isnt possible are there any cheap alternatives.

I was considering buying an Apple TV to do something similar, but after looking everywhere, it seems that iTunes on a Mac doesn't allow to Airplay Videos to multiple Airplay devices or split the Audio and Video signals (where one device would be AppleTV for the video portion, and other devices would be an Airport Express connected to my sound system for the Audio portion, or to play the Audio part on my own Mac - like you want to do).
I don't know if it can help you, but I can describe the system that I am currently using, which works, but is not as elegant:
About 4 years ago, I have purchased and installed on my Mac a software called Airfoil (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/).  This capture software allows you to connect any numbers of Airplay enabled devices to your Mac via Wifi, and stream the captured content (Audio and/or Video). They have been doing this, way before iTunes could give you that capability for the Audio stream.  This allows me to stream music from my Mac, with the Pandora app, for example  (not just iTunes) to the multiple Airport Express I have distributed thoughout the house, where each AE has a differnet sound system connected to it.  The beauty about it, is that Airfoil ensures that they are ALL in synch - which is not always the case with the multiple speakers function which is built-in iTunes.
Airfoil also comes with a built-in Video Player that can capture a DVD on your Mac, or any Web application like NetFlix, Hulu, etc, and output the video throught the Mac display port (where your projector could be connected), and at the same time stream the Audio portion through all your Airport Express (or any Airplay-enabled devices, like an Apple TV).  Airfoil also have an App on the iPhone (Airfoil Speaker), where you can stream the Audio from your Mac to your iPhone or iPad.  They also have Airfoil for iPhone, where any Audio playing on your iPhone or iPad can be steamed throughout the house via Airplay.
In summary, for the Video feed, I have my projector connected to my Mac on one side of the room (using a mini-display to HDMI adaptor).  For the Audio feed, I have an Airport Express connected the sound systems accross the room (could be an Apple TV), or iPhone or iPod Touch....  Airfoil on the Mac ensures that the video stream to the projector is in synch with the Audio stream to the sound system(s) - so that the viewing doesn't look like a badly translated Japenese movie...  :-)
The only draw back to that system, is that it requires a lot a CPU from my Mac for Airfoil to capture, slip everything, synch and stream to the Airplay device(s) - and have noticed that the Mac CPU fans run to high speed after half an hour or so into the movies.  It works great, but I have the (bad) feeling that it stresses the CPU/GPU of my Mac, and will shorten its life over time.  That is why I would have preferred a $99 Apple TV to be able to do the same thing - but apparently not (as of yet).

  • Splitting video into clips

video downloaded from DVD will not split into clips for editing how can I split into clips. The DVD is from an old camerea not compatable with windows 7 so have to download from DVD . jules

It sounds like whatever was put on disc was put on a DVD-R Intenso brand disc.
Probably the tape content was put on that DVD-R disc in DVD-VIDEO format. It gets more complicated if it gets put on the DVD-RAM type disc (which does not seem to be the case).
To verify the format of the material on your DVD disc, put the disc in the burn tray, go to computer, and Open the drive. You should see at least two folders, OpenDVD, VIDEO_TS, and maybe AUDIO_TS. Those folders are indicative of a DVD-VIDEO format.
    http://www.fileinfo.com/help/video_ts_folder
Now back to Premiere Elements and the Video Importer. The video editor is not going to rip off clips from the DVD-VIDEO format. It is going to rip off VOB video files which contain a fixed number of files before it generates additional of its kind for additional video content.
Once you have the video VOB files (typically starting with VTS_01_1.VOB...spot the larger file size ones), in the Video Importer, you bring them into the project where you split them into clips that you want. You can do that in the Preview Window with the Set In Set Out point.

  • How to tell where on the timeline or sequence the clip has been placed?

Is there a way that premiere pro CS4 can be configured to show where on the timeline (sequence) that the clips appear.  As well as which sequence the clip is in.
It would be nice to be able to see that in the project panel for each clip listed there.  90 percent of  Metadata there is of no interest to me, but this would be helpful.
I know, one should be able to look on the timeline and see clips but when there are many and several sequences it is time consuming.
    Thanks

Hit the light grey bar after pressing down the little triangle and the CTI will jump to the position of the clip in the timeline.
