Is it possible to start a MacBookPro in target mode with a MacBookAir?
I have a MacBookPro and I would like to start it in a target mode using a MacBookAir as a disk cible,
is it possible to do it? Which cale or adapter do I need to do it?

Yes, you can use Target Disk Mode with a suitable adapter:

To determine the cable you need requires you describe which MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models you have. The latest ones have Thunderbolt ports, for which you can use a Thunderbolt cable. If the MacBook Pro has only a FireWire port, you can use a Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter. Early MacBook Air models have neither.

Yes, you can, but with some notes. Braby sent some data, I add some other.
Target Mode has two basic roles:
1. to turn a mac into an external drive and/or external optical drive (if it has one, until Air era, all had); you may use this way if your internal optical drive is damaged and you wish to use the optical unit of the other mac; or use it as a simple external disk for backup purposes or else.
2. to boot from a such-booted mac.
#1 is usable with any two macs disregarding whether they are both PPC, both intel, or combination PPC-intel, as the behavior is like any external disk drive or external optical drive.
#2 is impossible if you want to boot the other mac, they must be both intel or PPC, as you cannot use an intel-based mac as a boot mac for the other ppc-mac, and vice-versa.
So said and clarified, you may use, but not if you intend to boot the other one if you wish to use it for various purposes implying boot.

With some printers it is possible. Try going to the printer properties and selecting Grayscale pprinting.

Since by definition a single EM agent must reside on a single database host, then, no, you can't monitor multiple hosts.
Unless you mean that you want to monitor multiple virtual hosts from a single physical host ... but in that case, you'd still need one host per database host.
That's just the way EM works. Always has, probably always will.

It's not possible to use the contouring mode in an onboard program like you did it in your example. The reason is that while the program is downloaded the write buffer.flx is NOT executed. Thus it can't download the buffer data stored in your front panel arrays. When you start the onboard program later it doesn't have access to your buffer data on the front panel.
In fact I don't see a real advantage why you would like to run the write buffer.flx in an onboard program. You could configure and download the buffer on the host and then use it in an onboard program.

I have my MacBookPro conencted to my iMac via ThunderBolt Cable.
I want to be able to put my MacBookPro aside and use my iMac's mouse and keyboard.
Is this possible?

You'd have to switch the connections after enabling. It's not something I've tried so I don't know if your MBP will
'see' them when they're already connected to your iMac. Worth a try though.

How to start Windows 7 in safe mode with bootcamp?

So my computer had a crash this afternoon in Win7 (it happened before, but still...) and tried to reboot my MBP.
I pressed Alt, selected my Win7 partition, and that was it... No Safe mode selection screen, no Windows Logo
showing it's booting properly, just a black screen...
Anyone had something similar? And most importantly, how can this be fixed?

Steps:
1-Open command prompt with admin mode
Or Boot from DVD in command prompt mode.(This is what i experienced, able to show the safe mode menu)
2- Write this command "bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy" and click enter
3- You can now press F8 while Windows 8 starts in order to access Safe Mode and other Advanced Boot options.

Using macbookpro in clamshell mode with Ipod touch as mouse/keyboard

I have a 2G ipod Touch and a Macbook Pro laptop (purchased 12/2009). I recently connected my MBP to my Samsung LCD HD TV. I am able to get the picture to work correctly (mirrored the displays). But i was sitting on my couch wondering how to manipulate the screen without using the laptop keyboard/touch pad...Then i found out that the itouch has an APP called Air Mouse PRO and your itouch can be used as a keyboard/touchpad for your computer.
This works great, until i tried to close the lid and put my MBP in "clamshell mode" and the MBP will just go to sleep! there is no way of having the MBP be responsive to the itouch while in clamshell mode.
My question is, " is there a way to wake up the MBP while in clamshell mode?" remember that the connection i have with the itouch is infrared and it is unresponsive while in clamshell mode.

I really don't use Rowmote much any more. I turned my old MBP into a media center and control it with Remote Buddy and an Apple remote. While I can do the same thing with Rowmote, it's easier with Remote Buddy. You can't move the pointer around the screen with it, but it controls media applications amazingly well for using something with only six buttons. http://www.iospirit.com/products/remotebuddy/

Have G4 start up in Target Mode all the time?

I now have OSX 10.3.9 on the Power Mac (see more on that in this thread: (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=668359&tstart=0)
I found out it has 512mb RAM, had OS 9.0.4 on it so I went through several upgrades of software and firmware to get OSX 10.3.9 on it, it is the AGP model, machine ID 406... The discs I have for 10.4 won't install on it so I will have to leave it with 10.3.9 which should be fine.
Is it possible to set it up so that it always starts up in Target Mode? I would like to get rid of the monitor and I have to give the keyboard back to the original owner.
I've looked on Versiontracker and will look more but haven't found an app or script that will start it up in Target Mode without my having to use the keyboard. I see that Tiger allows me to do that (on a one time basis?) but Panther does not. Is there any way to get it to start in Target Mode without my having to use the keyboard and have it reliably stay starting up in that mode?
Once I get rid of the monitor I'm going to have to rely on it doing what I think it is doing.
I suppose I could use ethernet... I may also get an enclosure for it but this is my current inquiry.

After some searching, I seem to have found a way. From this link at Mac Geekery (http://www.macgeekery.com/node/102) I tried it out and it seems to work fine. If I want to return to full computer mode, I zap the PRAM twice.
Is there any downside to doing that? I see that it resets the clock which might be a problem in keeping files properly filed (having to reset the clock - won't be able to use the online timer server, will I?) but I won't be needing to use it in computer mode very often. (Probably never since I won't have a keyboard for it.)
Anything else I should know?

PS I also saw on the Apple E-mail lists, in the Firewire section, that someone (Eric Anderson) had created a utility that would accomplish the same thing. I signed up (with dificulty, they don't make it easy) to that list and then cancelled that since after signing up I still couldn't see the e-mail address of Eric, which I had hoped would be visible once I signed up.

What I have attempted:
- Attempted to connect to Shared Services, Workspace url's - YES
- Checked openLDAP & my Database is running - YES
- Added following to Configuration File :

AUTHENTICATIONMODULE CSS http://machinex:28080/interop/framework/getCSSConfigFile YES, but same error
- Changed essbase.bak to essbase.sec YES but same error
- netstat -an to check for 1423. Port 1423 is not listening, although ALL TCP Ports have been enabled. So YES but same error.
- Read Knowledgebase article # 954322.1 - the suggested things in there don't seem to apply to my case, unless I am missing something.
At this point does anybody have any suggestions ?

An update: Just for kicks, I tried restarting Essbase using Start->Programs-EPMSystem->Essbase->EssbaseServer->Essbase.bat and apparently now Essbase is started.
EAS, Studio and Planning however are down.

Try to update bios. Even though it has that option does not mean that it will. Make sure in BIOS that legacy emulation is enabled as well. Then connect your USB and turn on the computer. Go into bios and check to see if your USB keystick is located under boot devices, which it should be. Other then that, you might have installed the boot program wrong. CD's etc have a boot.ini file. Basically an ini means initiate. So boot.ini initiates boot process. If this is configured wrong, or doesnt exist on the boot device you are using, it will not boot from the device even if configured in BIOS.

I have written an application which is stored on a network. People from different computer start it to work with it. Now I have the problem, that I need some different configurations on each computer.
Is it possible to start a labview application with parameters, like: application.exe -User_1
The application should check the parametes and should switch to the needed configuration.

Hi Michael,
yes it is possible. First you have to activate the data transfer of your parameters. You can do it in the application builder. It is something like "send command line parameters to exe" which you have to activate. You will get the parameter in your program with the property "App.Args". It is an array with the exe name as the first element and one entry for each additional linked parameter.

Here is what I'm trying to do. I have a created a Configuration Model which contains the business logic. I want to start this model as a JSON service, and the user will interact with this model via mobile App developed using ADF Mobile. The JSON sevice has two calls
/startConfiguration/{model_id}
/getConfiguration
Both of them return the string that indicates the BusinessModel being started by JSON service.
When invoked " /startConfiguration/{model_id} " from two different browsers (Chrome - started first, FF - started second) for the same model_id (simulating the scenario of two user accessing same model), it did returned two different 'configuration' object strings, indicating that each call started its own Configuration.
However, when I validated that the session started is user specific by calling "/getConfiguration" it return same 'configuration object string - which is the second call from FF. Thus indicating that I cannot have JSON service tied individually to each user session.
My goal is to have JSON service specific to each user session. Is this possible?

what is a JSON service? JSON is an object notation used with REST services. So I assume you have a REST services that returns JSON and you now want to obtain the same identifier for a specific input string? REST services - like all Web Services - are stateless and if you want to associate a request with a specific context then you need to pass a token or similar with the request so the context can be re-established. In your case I would have a look at the code mapped to startConfiguration/{model_id} to verify if the method checks for an existing configuration with the provided ID. Chances are that its the code returning the wrong ID. In general I would go with a token approach.

I think the answer is yes, it is possible to start a VI within the
subpanel. See 'simple.vi' within the examples, or search the
examples for "subpanel" You have to use an invoke node to start
the VI. See the attached pic of the block diagram.
