  • Auto shuts down - could it be the power adapter?

I'm having problems with my first generation macbook lately, it will auto shuts down (not sleep) with the power adapter still attached. And when it shuts down, the adapter still light up green. Im working without the battery, it is removed all the time cos it is dead already.
Could the problem lies with the power adapter? but it's still shows green light, that means there is still power running thru? I would like to test with another power adapter but i don have friends who have a mac. I don't want to spend money one another power adapter, without knowing the cause.
Is it possible to do a test on the power adpater? thanks!

A test you could try (rather than another adapter) is to put the "dead" battery back in and run it on AC. As Gregory said, without the battery, the slightest knock to the magsafe connecter may cause it to disconnect, even momentarily, thus you lose all power and your MB turns off. Hopefully the battery will have enough capacity to allow the MB to stay on (briefly) when the connecter is disconnected for that moment. Just an idea.
    Good luck.

  • AutoTrim & Include Subfolders From A Folder & Preserve Subfolder Structure & Auto Shut Down Computer - ALL In Batch Processing Mode And Match Volume Mode ?

    Hi! I salute you all!
First of all I want to excuse my english (it's not my native language)!
In 2014 we are dealing with thousands of files (video, audio, etc.), because of the present powerful technology, still... we are missing very important and useful parts for doing our jobs properly and very quickly!
In this case is Adobe Audition too, in my oppinion!
Adobe Audition is a great program, which help us to edit in many ways our audio files, but... unfortunatelly has major missing parts, which would be nice to be implemented as soon as possible!
Some of them are are right below this line:
    1. AutoTrim (for removing silences from audio files, before and after)
    2. Include Subfolders From A Folder (when adding a folder for working with, we should have the possibillity to add its subfolders too)
    3. Preserve Subfolder Structure (when exporting a folder with its all subfolders, we should have the possibillity to export the exact structure like the original)
    4. Auto Shut Down Computer (when all the tasks/jobs are done, we should be able to auto close the program and auto shut down our desktop/laptop as well)
When you will add these features which are so wanted, to have them all in Batch Processing mode and Match Volume mode as well, please?!
Many other audio softwares have all of these "old" possibillities, like "GoldWave" for instance (I am not advertising it at all), but the Adobe Audition which is more complex...doesn't so far!
I thank you all and I really wait for these very next future feature requests!
    Have a nice day!
P.S.: Is this message/question read by Adobe stuff members (persons who can take decissions in this way) too, or only by us, the comunity members?!

  • Nokia Auto shutting down problem

Since last week my 5800 shuts down like crazy.
1 time it shuts down like after 10 seconds when started up
    then after 50 mins...
I have the latest firmware installed.
    Already hard resetted the thing.
    I did notice something:
When I took the sim card out and rebooted the phone, it didnt auto-shut down anymore
Put the card back in, the same **bleep** again.
Tried different sim cards but all managed to shut down the phone
    anything to solve this ?

hmm could have something to do with the connectors, might be a hardware issue. take it to nokia care and see what they might say. if it works ok without sim, and not with it, it might be a communication issue between the device and sim

i'm downloading the OS X Mavericks then in the process of downloading till 4.20GB it stops and shut down my Mac Book Pro and automatically restarted. Any answers for this?

The download is over 5GB's so yours is incomplete.
You should be able to resume the download (instead of starting over) at the App Store.

    Hi peepz,

  • Anyway to auto shut down iTunes at specified time?

Hi my iTunes library stored on a NAS. The NAS is set to sleep overnight.
However if I leave my iTunes on my iMac open, the NAS doesnt auto mount, and then iTunes has loads of errors, cant save file, cant locate iTunes library etc etc. I have to close iTunes, remount NAs (use CMD-K, chose the share), then re-open iTunes. So 2 questions...
    1) Is there someway I can auto shut down iTunes at a specified time, ie before my NAS goes to sleep, even if my iMac is asleep or is this impossible?
    2) How can I auto mount my NAS share, so every morning when the NAS comes awake, it aut mounts. I leave my iMac on all the time, but it goes to sleep, and just use one log in, ie its always logged in.
    cheers

    lune:
Lots of questions. I'll try to get to at least a few now.
I am doing the repairs on HD volume rather than the 74.4gb Hitachy, never been sure which one to choose)
When working in Disk Utility, both for Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions, you want to select the Manufacturer's ID, instead of the volumne name. You want to work with the volume on the HDD, as the directory is built into the HDD.
Would you say that I should consider the idefrag solution to keep things running smoothly?
Here's what Apple says About disk optimization with Mac OS X. That said, I do a complete disk optimization at least monthly, sometimes twice. I use Tech Tool Pro. It's one of the best all round utilities out there. DriveGenius is supposed to be pretty good, too, but I am not personally familiar with it. It is the one utility that I have heard reported to do repartitioning on the fly successfully.
I'll return to you other questions later.
    Good luck.

  • How to disable auto shut down when doing line-in recordi

I am using Zen V Plus 6gb to do li've line-in mic recording.
I experience creation of a few tacks when the recording ends.
When I asked Creative Tech, they said it is auto shut down when the voice recorded falls below audible level. Can I disable this?

If I got you right, it interrupts the recording when a period of seconds no signal more loud than a certain level is
on the line-in source? Right? Normally you could aplify anything, even white noise, but I don't get the point.
Are there any songs that have longer interruptions than 5 seconds according to this cd norm?

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • Macbook Pro random shut down whilst using battery

My Macbook Pro randomly shuts down whilst using battery power even though their is plenty of charge in the battery.
    Any ideas??

does it do it when plugged in?
Also it sounds that there's a power failure and causing it to shutdown, I would get it serviced asap, the battery connector might be faulty.

  • Battery recalibration: didn't stop, simply shut down

i planned to calibrate my Macbook Pro battery, so yesterday night i let the battery get very low (after having recharged it completely), the battery level alert appeared, and after some minutes the MBP shut down.
it didn't stop, it actually shut down: no white led in the right corner, nor the computer restarted from where i leaved my work when today i turned it on again. there could be something wrong?
p.s.: i also noticed that clicking on the battery icon there is written "service battery" with a warning icon: what does it mean?

The computer will shut down when the battery gets very low. You can only restart with the power adaptor plugged in. You should then leave the power adaptor plugged in until the battery is fully recharged. When fully recharged (if it will recharge at all open System Profiler and click on power to find out the battery condition.
As your MacBook Pro is a similar age to mine it's possible that you do need a new battery, especially if you regularly run off the battery. System Profiler will give the current full charge data as well as how many cycles the battery has been through. If the battery is not less than 80% and has completed fewer than 300 cycles then Apple considers that you've had fair life from the battery. There was a replacement program for batteries that didn't reach this standard but I think it has been closed as all the suspect batteries are now probably more than 3 yrs old anyway.
Post those SP stats for the battery and we can easily assess whether you have to face the cost of a new battery.
