I've just acquired an Iphone 4s 32gb model. If I take many photos on a trip, which together
with the apps already installed, they will soon fill up the memory.
What is the best way of storing them till I get home and d/l to my iMac?
Is it possible to connect a USB stick etc. to keep them on or ???

If you have wifi hotspots during your trip, you could store them online with solutions like Dropbox (not sure the photo stream would be helpful in this case but can't say for sure)

I read that photos are not stored in the cloud until 1000 have been taken on my device's. Is there a way to force all my photo's to the cloud so they are not stored on my device's?
If you switch on your Photo Stream, then it will store any number of photos up to 1000 photos. No, you would have to manually delete them from your device if you want to, but the Cloud will only store 1000 as I say. When you get to picture #1001, then picture #1 will disappear, so I would recommend storing your photos somewhere else, like backing up on your computer of external HDD.

My computer / iTunes is set up correctly for wireless (account info. all good), and emial is synched wirelessly. BUT not photos / videos or songs. I seem to have to plug my iPhone into my computer for iTunes to recognize my device. Shouldn't iTunes recognize my iphone wirelessly? For example, I have read that "device" should show up in menu bar on iTunes but it doesn't unless I'm cabled in.
Also, when I go to my iPhone to "synch wirelessly with iTunes", the button / tab doesn't light up for me to chose and tells me will synch when "smith - laptop" is available.....
This is my first iPhone, and just got it so may be user error.....

The memory on my Phone is really bad so i cant store much. The pictures i am trying to import are really important and i cant lose them. My phone has been playing up a lot and im afraid of losing the pictures so tried to import them onto my laptop. Its a windows 8 and every time i connect my iphone a window automatically opens titled "Apple iphone" but underneath it says "no files or folders". How can i resolve this?
Also the apple store have told me not updating may be causing problems but i cant update due to no space. i have 3 apps, around 300 photos/videos and no music. it is 16gb so i dont know why im having this problemThis is how you import photos/videos:

Hi....I have 1400 odd photos on my iPhone 4 and am running out of memory so I bought extra storage (25GB) on iCloud which I have set up to use. However I'm not familiar with how iCloud works and I don't synch my iPhone with a computer but I want the comfort of knowing that when I transfer the photos to iCloud they are there and need to know how to access them again if/when I want to.
I have looked at the Photos & Camera section in General Settings but really have no idea what Camera Roll, Photo Library or Photo Stream refer to. I take photos as and when the mood strikes me, don't share them with anyone and only want to retain them for future reference as and when I feel like it.
Which leads me to my queries:
1. How do I transfer the photos to iCloud?
2. Can I open folders to seperate different batches of photos in iCloud?
2. When I have done this is it safe to delete the photos from my iPhone?
3. If so how do I delete them all in one go?
4. How do I access the photos again from iCloud?
Please keep the answers/ instructions simple/idiot proof as no doubt you will have surmised by now that the nature of my queries is indicative of my limited knowledge as to exactly what can be done with my iPhone!!!!
DoodyiCloud is not designed to "store" photos (as in long term storage). iCloud can be used to sync photos from one device to another (photo stream) and to store a backup of the camera roll. But that's pretty much it.
Camera roll is the group of all photos taken by the device (but not other photos synced to the device from another source). Your extra storage on icloud will do you no good. The recommended way of storing photos on a device is to sync them to a computer.
So, your questions..
1) You don't/can't
2) No, because of 1.
3) On a computer, deleting large groups of photos is relatively painless. not so on a device.
4) You can't access photos on iCloud because they can't be store in icloud. You can't view/access photos in a backup on icloud unless you restore a backup to a device.

Contacts should be configured to sync with an app on your computer. You set this up in iTunes on the Info tab with the iPhone connected. You will not lose any contacts if the app on your computer has at least one contact. -
So, I have an iPhone4 iOS 4.3.2 restored from Apple Store iTunes. I also have an iPod Touch 4G iOS 4.3.2. These two devices can facetime other Apple products, but not each other.
So when I discovered this, I restored both at the Apple Store iTunes and they worked for the first time!! The Genius Bar guys told me to just set my iPod as New Device to my PC then manual sync it. I deleted all my iPod backup from this one since they are all from fresh restore.
I did as directed. iPod does not want to connect facetime to my iPhone. I tried uninstall and reinstall my iTunes to the newest version. Still not working after a full restore. My PC is XP Service Pack 2 with Japanese setting. I wonder if my PC iTunes has to do with anything or my iTunes account...This is the iPhone forum
That said... PhotoStream is a stream of photos. The contents of the PhotoStream are not part of the backup. PhotoStream will hold the last 30 days of photos on-line. After 30 days, the photos are deleted from the servers. If they have already been downloaded from the cloud and appear on a device, they will remain there. However... if the device is wiped, restored, etc. or PhotoStream on the device is turned off then back on, ONLY the photos still resident in the cloud will download.
If the photos were over 30 days old, they are no longer in the cloud. If you didn't have them backed up elsewhere, they are gone. -

The only way you can store photos in iCloud indefinitely is if you add them to a shared stream. However, when you do this, the photo will be at a lower resolution than the originals.
My photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, allowing enough time for all your devices to receive them. The only other photos in iCloud are camera roll photos stored in your backup. However, you can't see anything in the backup unless you restore it to your device. Also, if you delete the photos from your device and continue to back it up, the backup that contains the deleted photos will be overwritten by one that doesn't, and they wil be lost. -

I restored the phone so had no apps on it at all and there was still this certain amount of space used up by documents ! I've already had it in to the apple store and they didn't seem to have a clue either ! Ugh ! Wouldn't mind so much if the phone was free with a contract but I actually spent 450 quid buying this phone and it's always full of "nothing" so virtually unusable

How can I transfer video taken with my iPhone to my iPad WITHOUT using a computer or iTunes? I'm going to Europe for a month and want to use my iPhone to take pics and video, then come back to the hotel room and use my iPad to edit/store each evening. I don't want to use my iPad to take the video...too large/bulky. And I WON'T have a computer with me...I purchased the iPad to take with me so I could use the RDC to my home computer and avoid taking my computer at all. Is this possible?
here is a cheaper solution than camera kit and a lot easier if you have WIFI available.
I use the PhotoSync APP (I think its a $1.99) will transfer videos and photos over WIFI to any other IOS device or even PC/MAC. Great app since I like doing video and photos on my IPHONE and transfer to IPAD2 without synching through computer or doing cloud based storage.
You can even send photos/videos from your MAC/PC to your IOS devices that way too. Makes it so much easier.

Pictures that I have taken with my Iphone 4 are no longer syncing to my Photo Stream foleder on my PC. I have Photo Stream checked on my phone? I worked yesterday. Any ideas?
• Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
• Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
• Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back. -
My laptop was stolen and I need to be able to connect my iPhone4 to the new laptop and transfer content (photos, mp3's, apps etc.) to the new laptop. I'm afraid to try a sync in case it deletes all the content off the iPhone. Any suggestions?
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.
