Is it possible to sync itunes after synchronized to icloud?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't use iTunes match and sync with your iTunes library on your mac/PC at the same time.

  • One iCloud ID, but two different iTunes Store ID's... possible to sync iTunes Match?

I tried searching around for an answer on this... a lot of people seem to be having issues when working off of a single Apple ID for the iTunes Store, but in my case my wife and I both use a single account for iCloud syncing but we have our own separate accounts for purchases in the App Store (we each have an iPhone 4S). My question is; if I subscribed to iTunes Match under my Apple ID which I use for my iTunes Store account... is there any way to extend our library of music to my wife's iPhone as well? On mine it's easy enough since it's linked to my Apple ID. But on my wife's iPhone, when she tries to add iTunes Match it asks for the password to her own iTunes Store Apple ID which is totally separate from mine and which is not subscribed to iTunes Match.
In other words; is there any way to link iTunes Match to the iCloud ID instead of the iTunes Store ID?? Since we share the same iCloud ID (and it happens to be my Apple ID for iTunes Store as well) and since I thought this whole iTunes Match service was a part of "iCloud", I didn't think it would be a problem. But if I go onto my wife's iPhone and change her "Store" ID in Settings, won't this screw up all her previously-purchased apps? Would it work if I changed her Store ID on her iPhone, enabled iTunes Match, and then changed her Store ID back to her own? I somehow doubt it.
I'm assuming there is no way to segregate an ID my wife uses for App Purchases from an ID we share for iCloud / iTunes match?
Hope some of the above made sense, thanks for any help. I'm expecting an answer along the lines of "until you can merge ID's, you're out of luck" but hoping for another solution!

Appreciate the response. I actually ended up tweeting Serenity (author of that article at Macworld) who wrote another article all about iTunes Match:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/163658/2011/11/itunes_match_what_you_need_to_kno w.html
However, nothing seemed to specifically adress my issue of having multiple ID's for iTunes purchases. But Serenity explained via Twitter that our best bet was to simply put my Apple ID onto my wife's phone and essentially "abandon" her old iTunes ID that she was previously using for purchases. The downside of this is that she won't be able to access her prior purchased iOS apps in the cloud, and of course her future purchases will now be tied to my credit card . But there doesn't seem to be any other way around it. I would have loved if Apple let us use our "iCloud Apple ID" instead of the "iTunes Apple ID" for syncing "iTunes in the Cloud". That way, my wife could have continued to use her separate Apple ID for app purchases, but we would be able to share the same music library across devices. Oh well!

  • Is it possible to sync iTunes to a folder on the computer?

So when I add music to that folder and its subfolders (e.g. D:\Jul\Music), iTunes will pick it up automatically?
I'd be satisfied with the "yes" or "no" answer)

No, iTunes does not do folder watching.
    If you need that, you have to use third part software such as iTunes Library updater;

  • Is it possible to sync Itune Purchases from my IPod touch to my samsung 3 phone and if so how?

I want to access books I purchased on my Ipod touch, on my Samsung 3 phone?

If the music was purchased via iTunes, you can transfer purchases from the iDevice to iTunes.
With the device connected, do not sync, select File > Transfer purchases.
If the music was acquired via other sources, you are SOL.
Where is the backup that you keep of your media and other important files?????
I find it extremely difficult that someone would forget to back up their important files before reformating a computer.  IF that is the case, then I would say you just learned an important and possibly expensive lesson.

  • Is it possible to sync iTunes to iCloud instead of computer?

I just found out that my iPhone 5 was accidentally sync'd to my daughter's laptop, which is not local. I don't want to scrub my iPhone 5c to re-sync it to one of my computers running Win7 because I have several, in different offices and homes (yeah, I can afford Apple). I'd like to be able to move recordings I already own to my iCloud and be able to sync from there, is this possible?
This is my first iPhone and I'm not all that familiar with iTunes and iCloud. What is the logic in locking you into one device? The Android phones let you sync with anything. This is a limitation that make an iPhone almost worthless to me. But nice camera.

    You're welcome .
A lot of these things are easier for other platforms because there is not a single vendor supporting playback devices and the software to manage their content and an online portal to purchase content.  That, plus iTunes is effectively using the same architecture as it has for the last 15 years, so is still rooted in a one user / one computer / one iPod paradigm.  iTunes does now offer multiple ways to share content (iTunes Match via the cloud, and the variants on Home/Family/Network sharing for machines on the same LAN), but has nothing built-in to assist users who legitimately want/need to access the same library on multiple machines in different locations.
I use a similar approach to that described by turingtest2 in his Make a split library portable and Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy user tips, where I have my "master" library on a desktop system and use SyncToy coupled with an external hard drive to replicate the library to two other systems (one in a different location), as well as using the external HDD as my "on the road" library when traveling.  As and when cloud data becomes a practical and cost-effective solution I'll certainly be considering that as an alternative to the HDD solution.

  • Syncing itunes after fresh windows 7 installation

I want to reinstall Windows 7 in my PC. I have queries in my mind i.e How would I re-sync my itunes backup to my iphone without loosing my contacts, messages. Because if I reinstall my windows then it'll be like I am using my iPhone in some other computer.
Can anybody tell me the procedure:
like after installing windows and then after installing itunes what should I do to get my iphone to sync with my newly installed itunes without loosing contacts.
    Thank alot in advance

Here's how I would do it, assuming your library is consolidated (if not, post back and I'll write up some extra steps)...
To start with create a testable backup of your library.
Grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time. As long as the media is all organised below the main iTunes folder (consolidated) then the library is portable and you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes, even though it appears on a different path from the original.
When the time comes to migrate/reformat, do a final sync, close iTunes and open the backup copy on the external/network to make sure it functions properly. (Hold down shift when starting iTunes to choose a different library). Deauthorize the PC if you are upgrading on the same hardware or won't be using it again. Once you connect your external/network drive to the new system you should copy the entire iTunes folder into the new profile and then install iTunes. Install SyncToy again so that you can maintain the backup in future.
A library cloned in this fashion should (as far as iTunes is concerned) be identical to the library previously used to manage your devices, so none of the content should be disturbed.

  • Can't sync iTunes after installing new hard drive

My iPhone was working fine, syncing to iTunes with many songs downloaded, until my hard drive crashed. I replaced the drive and added an internal back up and can no longer download anything. I get an error message with words to the effect that I "don't have permission to download to this computer". Worse, all of my OLD songs are now erased.
How can I retrieve the music I've paid for, restore it to my iPhone, and add new downloads? (The Apple help topics don't seem to address this issue.)
    Thanks for any insights.

This may be an issue with authorizing your computer.
In the iTunes menu bar choose Store>Authorize computer

  • How to sync apps with iTunes after restore from iCloud?

I just recently restored my iPod touch to 5.0.1. and I used my iCloud backup. While it worked for the most part, when it came to downloading the apps, I found it cumbersome. I would prefer that I just plug in my iPod to iTunes and let the apps install from the computer. It seemed to sync up, but all the apps on my device remained inactive and uninstalled. More specifically, they were still 'Waiting...'. Weirdly enough some of the apps even looked like they were downloaded partially but despite numerous attempts, they simply refused to install. I have restored my iPod again in frustration and before I restore yet again, I'd like to ask if there is a solution where I can restore my iPod from iCloud, keep the apps arranged but have them installed over iTunes the traditional way?

    They both are.
Another question, right now I have 3 out of 5 computers authorized to use with my iTunes account. But what happens If they all break and I end up getting a 6th computer?

  • Re-sync iTunes after moving music

I have a problem with iTunes not being able to locate my songs after I re-organized the directory structure of my music folder. Prior to re-organizing, my music was all in a folder "Music", but with many levels of sub-directories - some named by date, others by genre, others with random names like "Summer mix" or whatever. After re-organizing, all my music is still in "Music" (same location on hard drive), but with only a few subfolders based on genres.
I understand that I can go through each song in iTunes that has an exclamation point beside it, double-click it, and browse to the new location so that it "knows" where it is again, but there must be a better way than going through each song one by one?? Is there any way to select a group of songs and say "look in this folder for these songs now"? i.e. I have smart playlists setup in iTunes based on genre, so would like to select all songs of, say, the "Rock" genre and tell iTunes that they can now be found in the "Music\Rock" folder.
I don't want to re-create my entire library. In addition to this, I have ~4500 songs on my hard drive, but I only have ~800 of them in my iTunes library. I would like to keep only the songs I currently have in my library (therefore don't want to just re-import entire folders of songs).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  • Is it possible to sync calenders from excel to icloud?

Just that. My manager sends us our schedule in an excel spreadsheet form as an email. I would like to import it to me icl;oud calender so I can see when I work from any of my devices.

      hi Deborah
i know this is an old post but i've been an Apple user for several years now, urged many friends & relatives to buy many Apple products & after reading this thread i feel compelled to apologise for some...how shall i put it ? fellow Apple user's shortcomings ?  to put it mildly...
you see, i advised one such friend to buy a Mac Mini but since he owned a Samsung phone, i came here trying to sort him out for the same reason as you only to be confronted with such a lack of generosity, understanding, politeness even - all those pesky qualities that are supposed to set us apart from beasts...
after all & like it or not, what some seem unable to grasp here is that we DO live in a world where more & more we ARE confronted daily with a myriad of brands, formats & OS's which HAVE to interface with each other
hence one would think it plausible ( even if NOT absolutely politically correct..) that being the proud owner/user of ONE Apple product would qualify you/i/anybody to make it pertinent to ask other Apple users for help on an issue...
apparently it isn't, but it raises another issue :
being iTunes an Apple product & the subsequent answers you got rather....sad ? only to avoid calling them something else..  i'm forced to wonder when is an Apple product user a TRUE Apple product user ? thus entitled to come here ask a question...
when EVERYTHING at home or at the office is made by Apple ? what a terribly sad & limited view of the world...
don't worry Deborah, i've used these forum for many years & as in other walks of life one DOES get some of the nicest people here as well as...everything else !!
      a great week-end to all

  • Is it possible to sync songs not available to iCloud?

I have songs which iTunes says are not able to upload to iCloud via iTunes Match. I can't sync it to my IOS devices through iTunes anymore if I'm using ITM. So, I either have to disable ITM and go back to direct library sync but lose the advantage of ITM. Is there anyway to sync part of a library or playlist and still use ITunes Match?
    thanks

Your iOS devices do not need to be "linked" to your previous iTunes Store account. They can still play the media. It is only computers that need to be "authorized," and as long as your Mac is authorized you can sync and play that protected media on an unlimited number of devices.
But, as you say, if it simply isn't working then you've got a couple of courses of action. One is to sign into that original account on the iTunes Store and upgrade the protected files to DRM-free files, via the iTunes Plus link under the Quick Links section on the left side of the page. Two, is to burn those protected files to an audio CD and re-import them as AAC or MP3 files. Either course of action will allow the files to then be compatible with iTuens Match.

  • Cannot sync calendars after upgrading to iCloud.

I have an iPod Touch 2nd generation running iOS 4.21.  I knew it wouldn't upgrade to iOS 5 nor sync wirelessly with iCloud, but thought I could get it to sync via USB cable with my iMac and Macbook Pro, which are now on iCloud.  Music, apps and photos synced fine, and calendar events produced on the Macs sync to the iPod Touch, but I can't get events produced on the iPT calendar to sync to the Macs via cable, no matter what calendars I use.  Anyone know how to do this?

OK, here's an update.  I bought Week Calendar app for $1.99 and it's very nice.  It syncs to iCal and vice versa, only its events do not register on iCloud.  If you change them on iCal to an iCloud calendar event then they sync, and update on Week Calendar as iCloud events, which cannot be edited on Week Calendar.  If one is syncing between iPT or iPhone and only one computer with iCal, then you don't have to re-name the event, of course, but I'm syncing to several computers, and they all get it just fine.  It's a little awkward work-around, but a lot cheaper than buying a new iPT.

  • Syncing ITunes with My documents music folder....?

Was just wondering if its possible to sync ITune with the music folder on my computer as it gets annoying having to add new music manually, especially as Windows media player does this automatically without causing duplicates...

    iTunes doesn't do folder monitoring.
One possible workaround is to look at 3rd party solutions such as iTunes Library Updater:

    Article about automating updater
    http://www.lifehacker.com/software/itunes/hack-attack-automatically-sync-itunes- to-any-folders-175161.php
iTsync, a non free commercial program is another possibility although I don't have any experience of either myself.

  • Syncing iTunes to iPod?

I have had a crash due to a virus in 'my documents' It is empty now.
My iTunes library was also in there. So I 've lost everything! Disaster!
My iPod-photo still contains the songs and photo's that I wish to save.
Is it possible to sync. iTunes to the iPod instead of the other way around?
In this way I might be able to save my files.
