Is it possible to sync past sms to Yosemite messages app?
I just recently tried out the sms sending feature on Yosemite, and the devices paired alright. But is there any way to see my previous sms from the past on my Mac?

How to sync sent sms to mac messages

Im looking into seeing why my sent sms messages (to an android device) on my iPhone 6 plus are not updating and syncing to my messages on my macbook pro.
it was working before, and now its not... I am missing a chunk of messages to and from the android user on my messages on my macbook pro. I just realized that my forwarding was some how "off" just now.. and also am wondering if that is what caused the missing of sms messages... or is there a way to have the previously sent sms messages show up now on my messages on my macbook pro?
TIAThere is one option and that is to use Mail's 'automatically cc (or bcc) myself' function, which you can enable from the Composing preference pane. Then you can set up a filter in Yahoo mail to move any message originating from your own address to another folder. Unfortunately, it doesn't let you move them to the regular Sent folder, but you can create a new folder called Sent Mail or something and move them there - at least then you'll have a copy.
N.B. that 'automatically cc myself' is a global preference, so it applies to all your accounts. -
SMS in Yosemite messages not working. "Not registered with iMessage"
Just updated today to Yosemite. Macbook Pro 2013 (current retail model) with upgraded RAM and flash storage. iPhone 6 running 8.0.2 with recent back up to iCloud.
When sending iMessages to my normal iMessage contacts, everything is ok. This update should also allow for continuity with SMS, that they show up as Messages in the same application. I cannot get any messages which are not iMessages to send out. Each time I attempt this, I get the error "User is not registered with iMessage." Which, yes, duh. That's the point. I've sent and received SMS messages on my phone with out error, but still have not been able to initiate or respond on my Mac with Messages. My contact card only has the same phone number which is registered to the same iCloud account for both the phone and the Mac.
I've restarted the phone and logged in and out of iMessage in hopes of a refresh. I'm out of ideas as to how to get them to sync up, or whatever it is they need to do.
Is there a step that I am missing? It should, in theory, just work, but I can't find any messages on this. Any guesses?

It seems that some people are experiencing issues with Logging in fully to the iMessages Servers from their Mac.
There is one Error Messages that is seen that is known to be very similar.
This Error can only be fixed by Contacting Support.
What is does prove though is the The Apple ID in use can be rejected on a Device by device basis, i.e. it will work on a iOS device or even another Mac but not on one particular one.
Sometimes deleting the Keychain item for the iMessages Login can help (then Restarting the app)
It is called IDS: yourApple ID- Auth Token
If deleting this does not work try repairing the Keychain.
After that I would contact Apple Support. You may have to speak to a Level 2 person as Level 1 people try to fit everyone into Software or hardware issues and charge for Out of time Apple Care.

Is it possible to display contact pictures in the messaging app?
My dad was wondering if it's possible to show a contact's picture when he is texting them so that he doesn't accidentally text the wrong person. I didn't think it was possible, but hey, no harm in asking. I guess when you're sending a text to someone you could always use the contacts app to open up a new message so it is automatically addressed to whichever contact you pressed?
No, but if going to the trouble of selecting the contact in Contacts each time before composing and sending a new message, make sure the correct person's name is selected in Messages which is also available in the header bar when a contact's messaging conversation is selected.

Restore from old iPhone backup can past all data including messages to your new iPhone. Or you can resfer to this iPhone 4/4S SMS to iPhone 5 transfer tutorial. It shows you how to transfer messages only.

Is it possible to Sync an iPod (or iPhone) with a Shared Library?
I know this is a silly, basic question, but 6:30 AM is just too early for me to keep digging for the answer.
So, I have several computers at home. ONE of them is used to purchase and store all of my iTunes music. This same computer is used to sync several iPods. The entire library on this computer is shared. Two other computers in the house are Authorized on the same account and regularly play music stored on the "first" computer.
So here's the rub.
My duaghter just got a new iPhone. She has her own MAC. I'd like her to begin using her own computer to sync her iPod and iPhone.
Is it possible to sync her iPod and iPhone using HER computer (that is authorized on my account) and MY shared library?I don't think it is possible to sync an ipod to a shared library for copyright reasons. Sharing is great and simple for accessing and listening to other computer's music over a network, but to sync your ipod - I believe can only be done from that particular itune's music library. But here's how I work around this so that I don't have to have my 90 GB Music Folder copied on multiple computers:
Copy these files from your main computer (the one that has and controls your master itunes library) into the same location on any other computer on your network (say your daughter's computer): user/music/itunes/iTunes Music Library.xml & iTunes Library. Before copying them over to daughter's computer, remove the old files (maybe keep somewhere else just in case) and have itunes shut down. Then start up itunes on your daughter's computer and it should look identical to the main computer's itunes (and the same as the shared library). What you've esentially done is created a separate itunes library data base that can be managed on your daughter's computer but one that accesses the same actual music files that are on the main computer's Music Folder. To check go to Preferences/Advanced and you'll see that the Music Folder location is pointing to the same file as on the main computer (whose Music Folder is now being used as a sort of network music despository). You'll notice that when your daughter's computer starts itunes and plays a song, the main computer's hard drive where the Music Folder is stored will mount on her computer. So the main computer obviously has to be turned on, or more accurately, the location of the Music Folder (could be on an external hard drive) must be accessible over the network. Your duaghter can now create her own spearate playlists and sync her ipod to her own library which is accessing the same song files (Music Folder) as the main computer. And both of you can be playing from itunes at the same time independantly.
Here's the tricky part that takes some coordintation: Since you'll both be accessing and adding to the same huge Music Folder, you'll need to coordinate with eachother if you want to be able to have each computer's itunes database "see" any music that the other person has added or purchased. For purchasing or adding music to the music folder, both of you should have in Preferences/Advanced the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" selection checked when purchasing music or adding music via burning. If your daughter, for example, buys an album and has this preference selected, then it will go to the Music Folder and she will have access to it. But the other computer doesn't know that this was added to the music folder and it won't show up in that computer's itunes. For itunes to knwo a song is in it's Music Library it has to add it to it. SO, from this other computer, go to File/Add to Library and navigate to the location within the Music Folder and then select the newly purchased album and it will now show up in this itunes as well - BUT before you do this you should UNcheck the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" preference so that the album is not duplicated in the Music Folder. Then if this computer wants to purchase an album, you need to have this checked again. Basically if your doing the original adding you have to have the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" checked. If your simply letting your itunes know that something was added then have the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" unchecked before you add it to your library. And if someone creates a playlist that the other wants, you can still share eachother's libraries (even though your accessing the same Music Folder) or even export the playlist and import it into the other computer.
Sounds tricky but it's actually pretty easy and allows each person to sort of control his/her itunes and sync their own ipods/iphones all from the same Music Folder. -

We want to both use the same itunes account & apple id so that we dont have to separatley repurchase everything. Can anyone help us w/ this issue? Is there any way to Sync contacts from Outlook for Mac to iPhone 5? Apple support says that only iTune can only sync contacts from "Contact" which is the default contact of Mac. If one is running Outllok on a Mac machine then it is not possible to sync the contacts with iPhone. It is strange that Apple distributors are promoting and offering machines with promise that Windows users can now run MS Office on Mac machines without any problem. While this is true, it is so strange that one cannot sync the contacts from MacBook Pro to iPhone5. If someone has found a way to sync contacts from Outlook to iPhone 5 please help as it is very frustrating to not be able to sync the contacts. Thanks, Amit.

At home I have two Macs, one for work and another which acts as a sort of entertainment hub storing all my music, podcasts and videos as well as being for the family to use.
Is it possible to sync my one iPhone to both Macs, with the work one just syncing things like my contacts, emails, calendars and apps while the other Mac would sync just the podcasts and music to the iPhone.
Would this cause any problems and what is the correct way to go about this?

Email does not sync with a computer. Only email account information is. Mail itself is synced with the mail server.
Why not just sync with the computer you keep your media on and use iCloud (or whatever cloud service you want) to sync the rest? Seems simpler to me. -
My computer crashed. I did a system recovery. Is it possible to sync content from iPod to iTunes? I do not have a back up of my iPod content. I downloaded a lot of CDs individually to iTunes library.

Viceversa I can, through a Belarus account or Moldavian account of my list of Skype, regardless of their are on-line or off-line, sending a sms to a mobile phone in Belarus always at the price of 0,078 €.
I can not understand because is not possible to send a sms by italian account while is it possible by belarus account or moldavian account.
