If you purchased it within the last 14 days you can return it for a full refund and then purchase the 5G. Otherwise Apple will only give you a 10% recycling discount if you turn in an old iPod and purchase a new one.

I have 2 ipod touches. I backed up the new one with old's info. The old one will not unlock with the password I had wrote down and I tried my new ones password. How can I reset the old ipod without affecting the new one and how can I unlock the old one?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

I have an old ipod touch, and have just purchased a new 4th Gen one. How do I get my Apps from the old one to the new one. I've had to wipe the hard drive on my Pc so they aren't in my I tunes.
- Transfer your iTunes' purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- Try making a backup of the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup.
- Connect your new iPod and restore the iPod from that backup if you wish. -
Just sent in my daughter's Ipod touch 5th generation to be fixed.....They sent me a new one. Is there any way to get the contents of her old one onto the new one? I synced the old one with Itunes before I sent it in and backed it up on my computer.
Sure, as soon as you open iTunes with the new iPod connected, it will have a "Welcome to your New iPod" screen. Just choose Restore from backup.

My IPOD touch completely died. It will not power up. I bought a replacement. Is there a way to transfer the music already purchased onto the new IPOD from Itunes?
Just sync the new iPod with the computer that you used to sync the old iPod.

My Ipod 4th generation does not have the app store!
Hello i recently bought an ipod 4th generation that was 8gb but when i turned it on i noticed that there is no app store. the version is on 6.1.6 what can i do to make the app store appear again please help thanks!
If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPod has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot. -

I have the old ipod touch, can i upgrade to the new one and just pay the difference?
I have the ipod touch 2 and i bought it used a couple of months ago from Apple. I want to tak it in to apple and return it and get the new Ipod Touch and just have to pay the difference, is this possible?
Apple has a recycle program, but it will only give you 10% of a new iPod. Your best bet is to sell the existing iPod and use the proceeds to purchase a new unit.

The WiFi isn't working on my 4th generation anymore. I have several devices connected to the WiFi which two of them are iPhone 5 that haven't had ant problems with WiFi. I have had my iPod for a year. I have tried everything and it still doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks.
Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I have two different iPods. How do I connect the new one to iTunes?
I now have two iPods - a 30GB iPod I purchased about a year and a half ago which plays music, Audible books, and has photos slide show capability plus color screen. Yesterday I collected enough credit card points to afford the new 5th Generation iPod. Yeah, I'm an iPod addict. I wanted the video capability. So now I have it. My question is:
Do I have to download iTunes again, or can I connect my new iPod to the iTunes that I have been using for my other iPod? I can't find the answer to this question anywhere. Also:
Can I connect the new iPod on the same computer as my old iPod is connected on without getting confusion on the iTunes site and on the iPod?
Dell Dimension Windows XPYa, you can simply connect it to your current iTunes and go. More info here...

I had my computer fixed and so I had redownload itunes again. All my my music got saved to a folder as a backup.Well when I downloaded it,I put all the songs on itunes and tried to sync my ipod to add new music. But,it kept saying it won't sync since required folder is not found.I've looked everywhere online to see what to do.I tried uninstalling everything and again multiple times. The same error kept popping up.I switched to Manually manage music to see if it fixed the problem but no.A different error "the song....could be copied error ..." I switched back to sync.Nothing worked!!I tried restoring but it took so long as if it couldn't work it out.Previously I had this same computer fixed and when I downloaded again itunes it worked perfectly fine until now.Can somebody please guide me what to do?I cannot afford a new one.
A different error "the song....could be copied error ..."
What's the precise text of that error message, please? (Include error message numbers if you're getting any.) -
I am not very good with this infernal machine. However I do use simple tools, my ipod is suddenly not recognized by itunes, yet my older ipod IS??????
What ever I try to do does not work. I downloaded the most recent update and now BOOM it is not recognized and I am afraid that I will lose all my vintage recordings.Hello Muhlenmerg55,
I would be concerned too if my iPod was not recognized by iTunes. I found a couple of articles that might help with this.
If you don't see your iPod in the My Computer or Computer section of Windows, follow the steps in this article:
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
If Windows recognizes your iPod but iTunes does not, follow the steps in this article:
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

So, I have had an Ipod touch (fourth generation) for a little less than a year now, and I have never had any problems with it until the latest version of itunes came out. Now, my ipod never can sync (I left it up for an hour before and it only got to step 2 out of 7), and I can't add any more music to my ipod! To make it worse, about 100 songs that I had deleted off my ipod, but could still be found in my itunes library, appeared again on my ipod! But, they are grayed out and I can't listen to them so they just take up space.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
Today I dropped my sixth generation iPod nano which cracked the screen, and my "Apple Care" has runout. Would I be better off purchasing a new iPod or having the screen replaced by a Springboard Apple Specialist.
AppleCare does not apply to accidents, so it would not have helped.
You can get an Apple Certified Refurb iPod nano (8GB) for $99, which has the same one-year warranty as a new one. And it looks new. You'll have to get a quote from your repair specialist and decide if it's an economical repair.
