Is it possible to transfer a completed iPhoto book from one Mac to another, keeping the entire book structure intact?

I recently went on vacation and decided to use some of the free time to create some books of family photos. I transfered the entire iPhoto library of pictures from my my iMac to a MacBook which had never before been used for photos. The library transferred perfectly with all photos, albums, calendars, books, etc. intact. (Thank you, AirDrop!)
I successfully created and ordered 3 different books of photos on the MacBook. Now I want to transfer just those 3 completed books back to the iMac for archiving. Can I use the "Export" command to do this? If so, should I use JPEG, TIFF, etc?
I realize I could simply transfer the entire library file back from the MacBook back to the iMac, but I'd prefer not to take up all that disc space by having two photo libraries on my hard drive (and I'm chicken to delete the original iMac library).
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes you can move the book but not by exporting
The book is just entries in the iPhoto database so the only way to transfer it is ot transfer the entire library it is in - you can make a "mini" library containing only one book to make the transfer easier - see Old Toad's tutorial #9 - http://oldtoadstutorials.net/No._9.html
You also can save a PDF of the book and transfer that but you can not edit pr process it

How can I move my iPhoto Library from one Mac to another without losing the comments on the individual photos in the process? The source Macbook (OS 10.4.11 and iPhoto 6.0.6 (3.2.2.)) is with my husband in Germany, the target MacBook Pro (OS 10.8.5, iPhoto 11) is with me in Japan. Thanks for your help.

I copied the iPhoto Library to a CD and from there to the new MacBook
If you copied the library to the CD via the Finder it would be no different than the methods Terence suggested.  If you used the Share ➙ Burn menu option from inside iDVD you'll get a mini library that has to be accessed from the open library and the events/alubums copied into the destination library.  Not the same as the other methods.
The Share ➙ Burn method is no longer supported with iPhoto 9 and later.

How do I transfers iphoto pictures from one Mac to another?

    Just snaps?
Export from one and import to the other
Snaps and all the versions and edit history?
Network the two machines together and use iPhoto Library Manager
Something else? You'll need to explain in more detail.

I would like to move iPhoto '09 version 8.1.2 from one mac with OS 10.6.8 to another mac with OS 10.5.8.  Can you tell me how to do this?  Thank you in advance.

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

  • How do I copy & transfer iPhoto library from one mac to another?

I have a Power mac G5 and want to transfer a complete copy of my iPhoto 6 library (with all the specific albums) from my Power mac G5 to a new mac mini. I have an external drive. Is there a way to do this operation direct, between computers, or do I go through the external drive? Which do you recommend and how do I do this?
After the copy transfer is completed, in the future, when I add new photos to my iPhoto library on my G5 and I want to transfer a copy of the new photos to the mac mini, do I follow the same process you outline above? Will the future copy transfer require I delete the library on the mac mini, and make a new complete copy transfer, or will a future transfer only pick-up the new photos?
    Thanks,
    HDP

1 - connect the two machines together (a network or firewire target mode) quit iPhoto and drag the iuPhoto library from the old to th enew machine
2 - alternatively you can connect the EHD to the old machine, drag the iPhoto library to it, move it to the new machine and drag the iPhoto library to the picturews folde on it
3 - there is no way to sync the libraries - if the two are on a network you could use iPhoto library manager (only if both use the same version of iPhoto ) or use image capture to move the photo to the desktop from the camera and tehn impor tthem into both - but you can not automatically sync them you have to load the photos twice or use IPLM to do it

How do I move my iPhoto Library from my old MBP to the new one (iPhoto 11)?

  • How can I easily transfer file (pdf, doc , xls) from one iPad to another. The files are in iBooks collections?

I have just purchased a new iPad2.  We have an iPad and would like to transfer files that are in iBooks as pdf and doc to the new iPad2 without e-mailing each as a attachment.  Any ideas?

If you're syncing the documents from iBooks to your computer using iTunes, you can just sync them onto your new iPad the same way.
If you don't feel the need to use iBooks, you can use a cloud storage app like Dropbox or a file management app like Goodreader.

  • Can I transfer Jam Pack 3 from one Mac to another without the disk?

    Hello all:
I am using GarageBand 3 on a G5 PowerMac using OSX 10.4.11 (ancient, I know).
I have an equally old G4 PowerBook/laptop on which i also run GarageBand (or used to).
Here's the thing. I do most of my GarageBand work on the G5 (I import into Final Cut Pro and the G5 is more powerful). I have the Jam Pack 3 installed on the PowerBook - which has some really nice drum loops that i want to use). I can't find the original Jam Pack 3 disk so does anyone know if I can copy Jam Pack 3 from the PowerBook to my G5 using an external drive for the transfer.
    Thanks
    A

Just copy the loops you want from Library>Audio>Apple Loops and the instruments from Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Instrument Library. Put them on an external drive. On your new computer open GarageBand and drag the loops into the loop library. That will copy them and put them where they belong. You can try the same thing with the instruments, but I've been having some trouble getting that to work.

  • Moving an iPhoto project from one mac to another?

OK, so i have bookes created on my macbook air on holiday and now that im home i want to copy these projects (hours of work) to my main iPhoto library on my iMac....is this possible and how do i do it?

No, merging will not do it.
You copy the Library to the other machine - so you have two libraries - then open it and work away.

  • How do I transfer content in Dashboard Stickies from one Mac to another?

I've got a new MacBook Air and because the hard drive on it is smaller than the hard drive on the MacBook Pro I had before, I've opted not to use Migration Assistant. But I have a good bit of content in Dashboard Stickies. Does anyone know how I can transfer this content to my new Mac? Where is this information stored?

Copy this file from the old Mac to the new one:
    ~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.apple.widget.stickies.plist
Be sure that Dashboard isn't running when you copy the file onto your new Mac.

  • Ever transfer a Boot camp partition from one Mac to another?

My iMac has a working Windows 7 running on Boot Camp partition. I want to move it -- system and all, every last bit -- to my MacBook Pro. I installed Win 7 on the MacBook Pro and Windows said it would not authorize the system cause I installed it too many times. I'll have to move my copy of Mac Office 2010 also.
    1) Is this possible?
    2) Will it accept the copied files as an authorized copy of Windows 7?
Any suggestions, other than buying a new license?

You can use an imaging program like Ghost or Truimage.  Windows will prompt for reactivation if it detects "too many changed devices."  A different CPU and network card or motherboard chipset will usually be enough.  Basically different motherboard means reactivation so more than likely both Windows and MSOffice will need reactivation since your MBP is a different motherboard than the iMac.
However, back to the activation thing.  I'm assuming you're just trying the automated internet activation.  If you've not been abusive and this is a legitimate reinstall, (i.e.: this is just the 2nd time reinstalling in the past year or two,) then just call Microsoft using the phone number you see when the reactivation fails.  If they ask, tell them you bought a new computer or had to replace a hard drive.  They will then give you the reactivation key to type in.  I've done this with reinstalling various versions of Windows and MSOffice and calling Microsoft has always worked, of course taking a little longer to deal with the person on the phone versus clicking the mouse.  Again, this assumes this is a legitimate "move" and you've not been reactivating every couple of weeks, which would look suspicious.  I've never called in a "suspicious" instance so I don't know how Microsoft will deal with that.  But otherwise it's relatively painless.

  • How can I transfer or make readable files from one user to another on the same iMac

I have migrated files from a windows PC to my Imac. The transferred files have been saved successfully against a new user (which I can access). How can I make those files available to the all users of my Imac?

In FINDER, drag and drop the files into the Public Folder.  All Users can then access those files.
    Hope this helps

  • How do I transfer fonts on my notebook from one user to another on the same notebook (macbook air)?

Hi can someone please help me in simple terms...
Here is what I am trying to do.
I have 2 users on my notebook (macbook air)  Tracey Brock (administrator)  Little Munchkins (second user)
The templates that I have moved from my origingal user (Tracey Brock) to (Little Munchkins) all look different and has different font format. eg: I used Baby boston in original template on Tracey Brocks User and when I open it in Little Munchkins it has Arial as the font. I want it to be Baby Boston. I realised that this is because I have used fonts that were not originally in my fontbook on Tracey Brock and need to install these fonts in Little Munchkins but not sure how to do this.
I copies the fontbook from Tracey Brock user to Little Munchkins user and placed it on the desktop but not sure how to get these into my Little Munchkins fontbook in applications.
Can anyone help me with simple easy to follow instructions? No good with termonoligy.
Any help would be greaty appreciated.
P.S I am using OS X Mountain Lion if that helps.
    Thakyou in advace
    Tracey

Open two Finder windows. In the first, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide ~/Library/Fonts/ as the path. Repeat the process with the second, but delete the ~ in the path. Drag the fonts from the first window to the second.
