Is it possible to transfer a .mac email address to another person?

I run a small business which uses a .mac.com email as the business email address.
I am soon to be selling my business and would like to give this email address to the person taking over the business from me.
Is this possible and how do I do it?
Thanks
PS I should add that the email is currently an 'extra' email address added to a .mac paid account, not the main email for the account.  I want to separate it from my account and give it to this other person.  Is this possible?

Technically this is possible, but I'm not sure whether Apple'sTerms and Conditions allow you to effectively sell (or give) on an iCloud account. They do say
'No Resale of Service
You agree that you will not reproduce, copy, duplicate, sell, resell, rent or trade the Service (or any part thereof) for any purpose.'
https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/icloud/en/terms.html
So you may find if you attempt to change the Apple ID concerned to be owned by another person that you won't be allowed to do so - I don't know. At present it contains your personal data, of course. Are you using this same login for registration of hardware or for iTunes? - if so you can't separate the iCloud account from that.

  • I have an email address that was used on one Appleid account and I have now created a separate Appleid for another device. Is it possible to transfer that icloud email address to the new Appleid account?

I had multiple iPhones and iPads associated with the same apple account and I have now created a separate account for two of them.  The question that I have is whether there is a way to transfer the icloud email address to the new account?

Welcome to the Apple community 1960gmd.
Once an iCloud address is used for an Apple ID, you can't use it for any other.
Why would you want to use another Apple ID if you already have the address you want to use in another.
If you want your email on all devices but use a different ID for iCloud add it as a secondary account at settings > mail, contacts, calendars and just enable mail.

  • HT5527 Mac email address/account without iCloud?

Is it possible to keep my Mac email address without buying extra iCloud space? Only email seems to use more than the free space. If I turn email off in the iCloud  settings of my iPad (to reduce the space i use), my mac mail account is no longer visible under my accounts (my other not Mac email accounts are though). And how does this work with my Mac?

Try doing a Repair disk and a Repair Permissions in Disk Utility. Then see if Lion will install.
If not then save all your data and Wipe the drive and reinstall Snow Leopard. Then try the Lion upgrade again.

  • HT201342 I would like to transfer an icloud email address from one apple id to a different apple id.  Is this possible?

How can I transfer an icloud email address from one apple id to another apple id?

It isn't possible.  If you need to use a different iCloud account with a different ID as your primary iCloud account, you can still set up your other iCloud address as a secondary account by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud, signing in with your ID and turning Mail to on.  It will be fetch rather than push email, however, as push is only supported in the primary account.

  • Cancelling 2nd .MAC email address but keeping name as alias?

I've got a .mac email address which is my primary email address. But I opened a second email address as a business email address. All the mail goes to the same account. But now I'd like to cancel my second email address and re-open it as an ALIAS in my primary email account. Is that possible? or is the second email address gone forever...
I hope that makes sense... thanks in advance for any help.

    Bruno...
devoted to this the @mac address so it is very important to get it working.
Try resetting the password associated with your .mac account.

  • Is it possible to change one's email address?

I want to allow people to email me off-forum. But I don't want to enable my primary .Mac email address, for obvious reasons. I'd be happy to use one of my five .Mac email aliases, or any other address, but is it possible? I can't seem to set anything other than my primary .Mac email address to be the one that is publicly viewable in 'My Settings'.

Unfortunately, the current Discussions software doesn't have an option of showing a public e-mail address like the previous software did. You could do what I have done, put a .Mac alias e-mail address in a field in your public profile. Mine is in the biography field. It isn't a "clickable" link, but is easy to copy into a new e-mail.

Sync them via iTunes from the contact manager on your computer (that's Address Book if you're a Mac user or Outlook if you're a Windows user).

  • How to use .mac email address after upgrade to iCloud.

    HI
    Just wondering the following.
I have an old mac.com email address..  Can I still use it in any capacity?  What I am thinking is to be able to have an email sent to my mac.com email address forwarded to my gmail account.  Is this possible and if so how?
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

If you use iCloud in Mail, all iCloud mail will include the main address and all aliases. They show in the same account, but with the different addresses.
If you use the main forwarding address in the general preferences of Mail at the iCloud site, then all messages to all iCloud addresses will forward to gmail.
If you only want to forward one of the addresses, go to the rules tab and create a rule to forward the .mac address to gmail.
You said: I am using gmail on my iphone/ipad so I do not need to sync my mail.
Do you not want the .mac or .me account on your phone and iPad?
You said: What I am trying to achieve here is just to have a mac.com account.  My concern is I do not want to get it confused with the me.com address.  Given that is it possible to have a mac.com email account that will work?
Where are you using the .me account and what for? How do you want to separate them so you don't get confused? If you only want a .mac account, what happened to gmail?
I'm sorry. It appears there is a minor translation barrier. I am not understanding what you need to accomplish and I'm getting confused.
Maybe you could explain as simple as possible all what you want to show in Mail on the computer, iPhone, and iPad and what you want to sync together.
Glenn I am sorry for the confusion.  The joys of email.
I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do. Do you want the .mac address forwarded to gmail and not the .me address?
Yes I want to forward the .mac address to my gmail account  The reason I have the .me address is because Apple forced this on me when I signed up for the icloud when it first came out.  They would not let me use another account. I would have prefered the .mac account but as I said I had no choice.
You said: I am using gmail on my iphone/ipad so I do not need to sync my mail.
Do you not want the .mac or .me account on your phone and iPad?
I do not want either account on my iPhone or iPad for email.  I use my gmail account for my email.  I have gmail defined as an exchange account on the iPhone/iPad in order to push email to my devices.  I just want to have a .mac email address that people can send emails to.  My intention is to forward the .mac emails to my gmail.
So I guess my problem boils down to how I can have the mac.com address (which is defined on Apple) forward any emails to my gmail account.
I hope I am making this clearer for you to understand.  Maybe I am trying to do something that is not possible?  Maybe I am making this more complicated than it really i?.  The concept is simple.  Apple just makes it difficult to do it.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Cannot send emails from mac email address

Over the past 24hrs I am unable to send emails from my ibook and sporadically from my iphone. Please advice what the settings should be for SMTP and port. I think this might be the problem but I am unsure. I have a mac email address. I can send emails from my icloud account. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Wow, after research I can't believe what a problem BT is!???
This post by vanessa seems to have gelped many that could not send...
Just set up my macmail with the help of the BT guys after a year of struggling! Hopefully this could work for others for whom the emails will receive but NOT send....
Set up your 3rd party domain names via the mail relay system and confirmed via BT. Then try these settings.....
In your @btconnect.com email set its up using these:
    incoming mail server: pop3.btconnect.com
    username: the bt email
password: the bt email password you supplied
outgoing mail: we'll come to this!
on the drop down box next to Outgong mail server (SMTP) select 'edit SMTP server list'
press '+'  button and add these details....
    In the Account information tab:
    Description: mail.btconnect.com
    Server Name: mail.btconnect.com
    In the advanced tab:
    Select 'Use default ports'
    Authentication: Password
    username: the bt email
password: the bt email password you supplied
NOW The next bit, the 'second' server....
press '+' fro a new server add these details....
    In the Account information tab:
Description: second server (or any name you want)
    Server Name: mail.btconnect.com
    In the advanced tab:
    Select 'Use default ports'
    Authentication: NONE!
Now on all your email addresses back in the accounts section, set the SMTP server to 'second server' (or whater you hae called it) NOT mail.btconnect.com and select Use only this server.

  • I have a .mac email address, can i use this as a regular email address?

I have a .mac email address which i set up for ichat (ages ago) how can i use this as a regular email address in an email client? Is there SMTP/POP details?

With the introduction of iCloud, Apple has discontinued its "@mac.com" addresses support and has switched to Users using "@me.com" suffixes.  To utilize this you will need to setup an iCloud account with a new Apple ID. And Apple discontinued iChat and has switched to Messages.app, using Apple ID's.
    Hope this helps

  • Mac email addresses

Hi, I'm comfused about my .mac.com email address!
I've been told its active until June 2012. What happens after this? Do I have to pick a new (non mac) email address?
I like having a mac address and dont want to get a hotmail, gmail or any other account.
    Please help!!!

Do I have to pick a new (non mac) email address?
No. Just keep using the same email address.
Yes. If you have an active MobileMe account when you sign up for iCloud, you can keep your me.com or mac.comemail address and any email aliases you have created and move your MobileMe mail, contacts, and calendars, as well as your bookmarks, to the new service. When you're ready to make the move, go to www.me.com/move.

I reset the password. As you instructed, but that was not enough to solve the problem.
To solve the problem I also did the following:
For my user name I included @me.com., but I'm not sure that made any difference.
I think the key to solving this was that I pushed past the error I got on the Outgoing Mail Server window. I wasn't sure I should do that but I was desperate:
Next I got this window and checked SSL.
    That was it!
Finally I went into account preferences and checked the outgoing mail server settings to be sure the server port was correct. It was.
    Thank you for your help.
