Is it possible to transfer music/videos from my itunes account to a grandchild (she will need her own account) I bought her music and videos and let her play with my ipod touch. Now she has an ipad.
No you cannot transfer purchases from one account to another account. Apple does not allow it and never has allowed it.
She can use you Apple ID on the device and switch between her ID and your ID, but that can cause problems at times and can become a bit of a pain.

You can redownload your iTunes store purchases, but you'll need a backup to recover the playlists.

When I go to download from my iTunes account, it has started to say that I have to verify my ID. When only last week I was able to download ok. The questions it asks me are not relevant to me and I need to know how to reset the questions. For example, it asks who is my favourite teacher? I am over 50 years old and have not been in a classroom for almost 40 years, so I would not have ever answered a question like that in the first place as I would not know a name of a teacher. I carried out a recent software update and there after that my itunes music would not sync in the normal way. My music only shows on my ipad when connected and in music summary and this is shown as grayed out with a broken circle icon beside any new music which has been inported to my itunes account via my laptop. In the past when i connected my ipad to my laptop to sync it would ask if i wanted to transfer from ipad or not. This does not happen now at it goes straight into sync mode.

This sounds so frustrating. If any processing of sound, e.g. through Logic, through Wiretap, or you might try Garageband (which I assume you have tucked away somewhere), produces the problem, then its hard to blame the software of the individual program. This leaves OSX and/or Coreaudio, or a hardware problem. Sorry if you've already reached this stage. This would mean a reinstall of OSX (or an upgrade, if you're thinking of it), or addressing the hardware issue. I know I had some very bizarre things (and repetitive) happen to me with faulty memory, or memory that just wasn't seated properly in its slot. You could start out by running the hardware test and go from there.

Our hard drive crashed (it was the one that was recalled) and Apple replaced it. Is there a way to access our iTunes account and get our music/movies back? Or do we have to re-download everything? What about music we purchased?
Perhaps without a lecture level 10, it has long been a basic requirement to backup one's computer. Of course who would have thought one would have to backup something that is downloaded from a premium service like Apple's iTunes with the iCloud.
Much of the media purchased from Apple appears to be redownloadable, except for things that are arbitrarily not (because of licensing or whatever, but these reasons are not apparent to us, the lowly customer).
This is hard to understand until one has a problem, and finds the article listed above, or tries to enter a support ticket and ends up in the forum with someone who has obviously answered too many questions.
So how about we ask that a product manager at Apple consider a novel new feature - provide an online locker for movies purchased with real money through iTunes.
Let's call it iCloud and tell the world about it! -

I sold my iPod to a little girl when I FINALLY got an iPhone last Christmas. I didn't think to change the account settings on the iPod before handing it off, so apparently the girl is still using my account information on her computer. I recieve her iMessages since we "share" an account, and I assume she can see my iMessages too, which is embarrassing. There is a definite privacy issue, and now I'm afraid to send iMessages. Lol.
What I'm wondering is, is there a way I can totally deauthorize her device from using my account?
I accessed my iTunes account and saw where my devices were listed, but the only device it showed was my iPhone. If that's true, why am I recieving her iMessages?
I tried to contact her to let her know that she needs to create a whole new iTunes account for herself, but I got no reply, of course.
Also, I noticed where on Settings>Messages>Send&Recieve it had my number and my email address listed, but my number was ghosted. Why is that?

RKBIt can't be done. The most you can do is ask store reps to grant those songs to newly created account, but I see that highly unlikely to be approved. Reason: for store purposes your son does not exist - just two different accounts. If they will start doing that and giving to one customer something that was purchased by another, the DRM companies will sue Apple/Itunes for every penny that was sold by them.

If the rest of the songs are still on the iPod you can transfer those to the MacBook as well. For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc.) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):
